Good evening guys,

Beautiful Spring day here today, sunny and a high of 75°. Went out for a motorcycle ride this afternoon for about 2 & 1/2-hours. Figured I'd better get out while I could, there's a strong cold front coming in on Friday where we're supposed to be back down to highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's for 3 or 4-days. Winter is trying it's best to hang on.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Agreed, but then that brings up the discussion point of is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Speaking of desserts, my wife made me one of her ginormous from scratch banana cakes with real cream cheese icing last night. Coffee cup for scale. I haven't eaten all that already. I cut out a big piece and took it over to our neighbors across the street. Wife won't eat any of it since she's counting calories right now (even though she doesn't need to). Luckily it freezes well, so I'll cut most of it up into meal size pieces and freeze them for when I really want a treat.

Ya, and if I don't cut it up and freeze most of it, I'd just keep eating it, piece after piece after piece!

Hi everyone.

Long day at work. But surprise surprise we finished, and got out a few minutes early. I wouldn't mind that for the rest of the week.

Went to Home Depot after work. A couple months ago I ordered a custom window and the guy said it would be in April 6. I called April 7 and the automated computer voice said it wasn't in yet and they'd call when it came in. Today I went in to talk to a real person. He called the manufacturer and she said it would be in the 24th. Apparently when the computer spit out the April 6 day that meant the day it would be assembled, not the day it would be in the store. And since it had to be painted it would go to the painter, then go back to the manufacturer, then be shipped out. I can't believe they are going to paint the assembled window, but whatever. So we'll see if it comes in Monday.

Beautiful out, and warm. Maybe it won't rain all summer. One could only hope.

Have a good evening everyone.

Mike - I hope the delivery of your window doesn't drag on beyond the 24th. Seems like everything is still delayed these days.

Norm- Nice shootin! Congrats on the 1st place finish! 👍

I think the high was 86°, very nice. Worked out in the morning, mowed in the afternoon, a twofer! Parts came in the mail today to fix the self-propel cable on my mower, did that this evening. A productive day, now I'm pooped. Maybe an early bedtime for me tonight. More rain and storms forecast for tomorrow, sure hope it's nothing like the last one!

Hope everyone had a great day!

Mike, I needed a 9 ft slider door for my house as the PO had taken a 6' slider and another 3' piece to fill the 9' opening. It had started to rot and was a POS from the beginning. So I went to the big box home improvement stores and on line to get a 9'door. Everyone said it was not available. Finally at Home Depot I found a knowledgeable guy who found the 9'ft door. We ordered it. I can't remember the dates or exactly how it went but the delivery date came and went. I called and bitched and was given a later delivery date- NO SHOW... Then bitched again, and again and again. I think I was delayed and told of different date 3 or 4 times. Finally I told the Home Depot person and the window manufacturer That I was going to cancel order if I did not have the door by January 1st. ( I think 2019). Finally I did get the door at 7PM in between Christmas and New Years. Think I originally ordered it in April or May!!! But I did finally get it. I think in my case they would have kept delaying me if I hadn't threatened to cancel.. Squeaky wheel gets the oil!! Well anyway then door sat in garage until it was installed the next spring- It turned out good in the long run.

Jim - Nice find for your *****. Those will be nice additions. I'm sure you're excited to begin installations once they're in your hands.

Greg/Mike - Exactly same scenario w/ my neighbor when she was replacing her sliding door - five or six stalled/delayed delivery dates put her installation ~8 months further out than original.

Good morning guys,

Don't know if you've seen the news, but there were several tornadoes that touched down in Oklahoma and Kansas last night. This is the same storm front that will be threatening us later this afternoon and evening. I am not looking forward to seeing what we get. Here is a picture of the tornado that touched down in our town just a few days ago. The pic was taken by a resident in a subdivision about 4-miles from us and showed up on a local news feed yesterday.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Yes, me too, glad I didn't actually see it when it happened, and glad that we went to the basement when the sirens went off!

Hi everyone.

Been a slow day. I think I was at about 6 wheels at lunch time, should have been three times that. Lots of sitting around. This can't go on.

Beautiful day, Saw some of it when I walked past the roll up door. Trying to decide what to do after work. Got a little mowing to do.

I think I'm going to sell my Spartan Mansion. I've been trying to come up with something to do with it and I really can't. I'm not going to restore it and go camping, and I don't want to do work to it with no purpose for it. So off it goes.

Greg was that 9 feet tall or 9 feet wide? Either way that's a big door. I'm hoping I don't run into multiple delays, I got my contractor guy on hold, plus lots of other plans on hold.

Okay gotta look at the internet some more. Sheesh. Wasn't long ago we were putting out 40 wheels each every day. I'll be lucky to hit 20.

Have a good afternoon everyone.

Yep, 'specially as I don't have a basement. Had my computer overhauled as it bit the dust over the weekend. Should be good for several more years so they said. Told me upgraded to 1TB, but my receipt shows 512gb SSD. Hmm, gonna have to call them. They were shocked a bit when they saw how old it was (2011). Cheaper than a new one.

Dan - At least they upgraded you to a SSD - much faster read/write. Search Google for the part# of the SSD and it will list its size.

I recall many years ago in basic training (Texas) I first learned of Tornado Alley. Fast forward to graduate school @ U of Oklahoma (Norman, OK) I worked in a building on campus about six buildings down from the National Severe Storms Lab (and, the crazed Storm Chasers). May has the greatest number of tornadoes. That band of storms & multiple tornadoes which went through Joplin (actually twice nearly back-to-back) made its way all the way to North Carolina. I drove in several of the areas along its path(s). Complete & utter devastation. Stay safe out there. If you don't have a basement, hide in the bathroom.

DEADLIEST TORNADOES IN U.S. HISTORY

1. March 18 1925 Missouri/Illinois/Indiana; 695 dead
2. May 6 1840 Natchez, Mississippi; 317 dead
3. May 27 1896 St. Louis, Missouri; 255 dead
4. April 5 1936 Tupelo, Mississippi; 216 dead
5. April 6 1936 Gainesville, Georgia; 203 dead
6. April 9 1947 Woodward, Oklahoma; 181 dead
7. April 24 1908 Amite, La./Purvis, Miss.; 143 dead
8. May 23 2011 Joplin, Missouri; 118 dead
9. June 12 1899 New Richmond, Wisconsin; 117 dead
10. June 3 1953 Flint, Michigan; 115 dead

Not listed on the receipt. Raining torrents here, with thunder and lightning, and blowing like a son of a gun. The cat is sitting on his stool at the window watching it all. Norm, they covered that Flint tornado two weeks ago on one of the local news channels, and another outbreak in 1956 that leveled the communities of Standale and Hudsonville, which are about 30 miles from me. A few months before I was born up in Alaska.

The worst of the line of heavy storms went about 30-miles south of us this evening. It rained and blew hard for about an hour, and now is just light rain. Sure didn't break my heart that we didn't get hammered again.
