Ya, I think that's the most iconic one, and the same one I had in my bedroom as a teenager (came out in '76).

Several places sell that poster and one of them blurred that out. Bizzare.

Thanks Dan! That pic was taken on our honeymoon in 2010. We were on the dock in Honolulu waiting to board the Atlantis submarine tour, where you actually dive to the bottom of the Bay there for about an hour. It was worth every penny and I'd highly recommend it if you ever get the chance.

Left around noon and took Mom to the doctor. Got home and I was so tired I couldn't keep my eyes open. So I took a nap. Was nice out and sort of warm.

One of the guys I like real well got a new job and today was his last day. His new job is at the other end of the building. I'm glad for him, it's quite a raise in pay and he'll be a mechanic and not a helper. But I'm gonna miss him. Nice fellow, good worker.

Mike - I hope your Mom's appointment went well. Nice and warm here today too, 81° last time I checked around 4pm. Supposed to rain most of the day tomorrow though. Hope you have a nice weekend.

Wow, quite the swing forecasted. That snow you're supposed to get Monday is probably from the same front going through us tomorrow.

Left work early, went to record store and bought new Metallica album. Signed up for the giveaway framed art, did not win it. Ran errands, came home, picked up yard trash for an hour then mowed the back yard. Vast majority of the lot is mowed; I need to still hit the low spot with the pushmower sometime. Grilled a steak on the new grille; it is a different animal.

Funeral for an aunt in the morning, running out of relatives to go to funerals for. Spent the rest of the day with the Old Man and went to the Black Bear Diner for lunch and had shrimp and chips, not bad for a chain out fit. In the afternoon a tech guy came over and tried to set up a device for hard of hearing but couldn't set it up till the Old Man gets a Wi-Fi connection. I'm having a hard time getting the Old Man out of the 19th century where he is most comfortable. He has a difficult time relating to what it takes to get what he wants to be done without learning a few things about how the 21st century works and it's getting harder for me to do what he wants third hand and guessing from a far what is in his mind. This device would help a lot on his phone calls if he could read the text as it is spoken to him real time and make a decision on the spot rather get me involved not knowing what the phone call was all about in the first place only to find out it was a telemarketer wanting to sell him a seaside lot in Arizona.

Other than that the snow is gone and it's top down time in the Money Pit if I can keep it out of the shop.... Morning all Tedd

Tedd - Sorry for your loss of your Aunt, my condolences.
I am glad to hear that you're out and about enjoying the nicer weather after all the hardship and chaos caused by the extreme snows. I hope you have a nice long stretch of better luck, you certainly deserve it!

Good morning guys,

We're supposed to get rain and cooler temps today, with periods of heavy storms with hail possible. Just light rain right now. Glad I was able to get out and mow/trim yesterday afternoon.

Hard to believe but there really weren't any car shows or cruise-ins scheduled for this weekend, at least within a 60-mile radius. Wouldn't have happened today anyway with this weather.

No other big plans for today or tomorrow. We need to hit Walmart for a few staples, and will probably go early tomorrow morning and avoid the nasty weather today.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi everyone.

Beautiful morning, warmish and sunny. Started out at the Awful house, went over to the airport and jawed awhile, then went and got two batteries for cars and then a fuel pump and came to Mom's for lunch. I didn't want to go back to Awful house so I saved myself twelve bucks.

This afternoon the batteries go in the cars. The Chev doesn't have a hold down on its plate so I gotta figure something out for it. The Imperial has a Chrysler style hold down, that goes over the battery and clips in on both sides. The Imperial will be good to go but the Chev I'm not going to even hook it up. My neighbor is going to take it and do some work for me so I'll let him put the cables on.

Laundry goes on sometime this afternoon, and come to find out there's vegetable soup to look forward to for supper. Oh boy! This recipe goes back generations and Mom has it down pat, I love it. I suppose I better learn how to make it myself, or the soup will have a finite existence.

Okay daylight is burning. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Mike - Good luck getting the car batteries squared away. The soup sounds great! It would be a good day for it here, cooler and dreary. You'd better learn how to cook that soup! I learned my Mom's recipe for Vegetable Beef soup many years ago and I'm so glad I did. It was always one of my kid's favorites when they were growing up, and my wife and I both really enjoy it.

Got everything done this afternoon that I wanted and then some. Tomorrow is Walmart day and it's going to rain so I doubt I get anything done tomorrow. That's okay. Got things to do inside.

Tedd how'd you fare with your collapsed deck? How is the dog, settling in okay? Give her a chance, GSDs are awesome. Of course I'm a little biased.

Dan that's just wacked.

The soup was excellent, by the way.

Emergency bulletins, official tornado warning, and sirens right now! We're in the basement. High winds, heavy lightning, hail, and heavy rain. Thank God I haven't heard the locomotive yet! Just plain scary right now though!

Monty and Maggie are in the basement with us, Monty is having his usual meltdown. Radar is showing the worst has passed. Reports of a couple tornadoes touched down within 20-miles of us, haven't heard about damage yet. We should probably be able to go back upstairs shortly. Power never went out but internet did for about 20-minutes. We should be fine now.

I see 9000 exactly, not over 9000. This will change shortly, I predict.

I've always questioned the validity of some of the data on this site. Perhaps there exists a delay, not certain why that would exist since a digital counter is a digital counter; but John created two posts one minute apart from each other and the latter Posts counts reads the same as his previous Posts counts. How does that work. Also, over the years I've seen MANY members make one post, their very first post; yet, the date they joined was sometimes ten years earlier. Yes, I know, some read posts or created a membership years ago and then returned; honestly though, I think the actual date data gets skewed for some reason.

Ah, never mind I figured it out. It's a cumulative count. All posts are updated to the current Post count...so all posts demonstrate the current Posts count.

Mike - I thought surely they were going to ghost me, and it may still be the case - not sure. I sent a simple text message to wetpants indicating I replaced the top switch, she responded indicating she'd let her husband know, five days later she responds back to me with an update text message.
If you recall I wasn't planning to sell the car this soon as I wanted to use the car for transportation as I sent my 2003 F250 instrument gauge dash panel off for a solder re-flow. I did let them know this when we first met and they test drove the car.
So, her updated text message back to me indicated to let them know after I fixed the F250 instrument gauge dash panel; which, is just fine. It's unclear if they believe they're doing me a favor or they just want more time to look elsewhere for something else.
That's where we are. I think I'll pull the dash panel this week (maybe) and send it out for the solder re-flow.

Chris - Thanks. Hopefully spending time on the range yesterday helped, I'll be out there early for more practice before the tournament. Gorgeous weather to be outdoors for a round of pasture pool.

Jim - All the food looks delicious, as always. The ham and beans would sure be tasty here today with the weather turning off much cooler (low 40's) behind the front. Hope ya made a nice batch of cornbread to go with the bean soup.

Walked around the front and sides of the house this morning briefly to look for any obvious wind/hail damage and didn't see anything. It was breezy and cold and I didn't have enough clothes on so I didn't spend much time out there. We only got pea sized hail here from what I saw last night, but out by my BIL's place 40-miles to the SW of us there were lots of reports and pictures of golf ball to tennis ball size hail, and in other areas within a 60-mile radius of StL. Confirmed reports of a couple tornadoes on the ground across the river in Illinois about 15 or 20-miles from us, but none in our County that I've read about yet. I think we definitely got lucky and dodged a bullet with this one.

Hi everyone.

Walmart is done for the week. Drama as I was leaving. I had cut off the plastic number for the door lock set I bought for my house last year and kept it, and later on I want to go to Lowes and get another set with the same key. This plastic piece was in my pocket and it happened to have the little magnet thing attached to it so it set off the alarm when I was leaving. The little girl had to see what it was, had to know why I had it, had to scrutinize my receipt, look at everything in the cart, and have me go back and forth several times past the alarm things. It could have all been alleviated if she would have listened to me in the first place, but I suppose that was her big excitement for the day.

Chris lucky you missed out on all the tornados. But if they were across the river that's close to where my brother and his family lives. I'll have to check up on them later on and see how they did with the bad weather.

More laundry today, and then a trip to Lowes. Gonna be nice all week. I bought a new chainsaw weeks ago, might finally fire it up. How much fun will that be.

Hope everyone has a good afternoon.

Mike - My memory isn't what it used to be, but I seem to recall your brother lived up in the Alton or Granite City area, which is just across the river from the north side of downtown St. Louis. I live about 45-miles south of that area and the tornado activity was south directly east of me, so quite a ways from him if that's the area he lives in??? In any case, I hope he and his family are fine and missed the worst of it.
