It's a crap shoot attempting to discuss the exact symptoms, causes & treatment for Rhinorrhea (runny nose). I can attest w/ some authority/knowledge how the various classes of antihistamines are developed & the targets of each; but w/o a sound confirmation (required by an M.D. &/or specialist) I can't really make any specific recommendation with any degree of confidence other than what I have already suggested (Benadryl or Claritin). We're in wavy-gravy land here - are your lymph nodes inflamed? Do you have ANY congestion? Any phlegm production, etc.? Making further recommendations for any particular CLASS of antihistamine is outside of my knowledge base. If you want (most likely) a proper antihistamine you should see an M.D. who can prescribe the most appropriate antihistamine if that is specifically what you need to address specifically Rhinorrhea. The most powerful antihistamines are ONLY delivered via a prescription e.g. Ipratropium Nasal (available only as a prescription) and works in 15' to 30' but it will stop mucus production dead in its tracks.

I forgot/misspoke as Ipratropium is an anticholinergic. Anticholinergics inhibit production of acetylcholine - a different pathway than the antihistamines and different target molecules. None-the-less, Ipratorpium will specifically stop mucus production (at the 0.06% & 0.03% concentrations). Cholinergics and anticholinergics are very powerful medications/drugs; albeit, they require a proper diagnosis by a licensed physician/M.D.

I've been driving my '71 CS convertible everywhere in the middle of winter (w/ the top up) - starts right up at 30°F. Today the fuel gauge didn't move until the interior of the car reached a comfortable temperature - I think the cold hampers it's movement. After it warmed up no issues.

Norm - My fuel gauge is "sticky" in cold weather too. Today I noticed it only went up to 1/2-full when I started it up, even though I know the tank is full. Also, when it hasn't been started in 3 or 4-weeks, I'm assuming the gas has evaporated from the carb bowl, and it usually takes several pumps of the gas pedal and a couple of tries before it will start and stay running.

My convertible top switch has gone Tango Uniform - ugh, $hit happens. Since, I have to tear the dash apart (again), I'll likely will remove the fuel gauge cluster and give it a cleaning.

When I do the first startup after summer hibernation I typically fill the carb float bowl through the vent. If I don’t do that, it takes 20-30 seconds of cranking (in 5 second increments so I don’t melt any starter wiring) to get fuel up to the carburetor. The good thing is that much cranking gets the oil pressure up before the engine fires.

Mike, I used to add an egg to my dogs food to help with their coat, I wonder if it would help with the skin? I take generic Zyrtec about everyday, and flo nase when needed. A couple of pics of our ice covered lighthouse from yesterday, still pretty windy, and my damn fingers got cold. I think that hunters mittens may be in store for me, expose a finger when depressing the shutter on the camera, then gettin' it back where it's warm (there's a joke in there). A quarter mile walk from the parking lot to the end of the inner pier where i took the pics from. https://photos.app.goo.gl/zS1Y4p4McJy7aeu1A

Makes me shiver lookin at those lighthouse pics!! Norm, how neat it would be to drive the Olds or truck in the winter. Don't dare do it around here as the roads will be covered w salt- even if snow and ice are gone, salt will be on roads in dust form. Gets up into all those knooks and crannies and waits for rain in the summer and there ya go. Course they also chloride the dirt roads around here in the summer to keep down dust- just as bad..

Good morning everyone.

Warming up! Just in time for rain. Well you can't have everything. Got the house's roof blown off yesterday, I started too late so I didn't get to the garage before it got dark. A guy with a bum leg shouldn't be up on the roof anyway, and especially in the dark.

I don't know what the State of Georgia uses on icy roads, but my truck looks like I've been driving all winter in Chicago. It needs a good bath and a good cleaning. Gee I'd feel like I had a new truck. When I left the rehab center one night after the cold weather, I saw that the place had put down some salt on a few small puddles that had frozen.

So Mom comes home today. I'm not convinced she's ready, or that she's had all that great of help these last days. Medicare pays for 14 days and she's been there 9. Most of the time they've had her running around in a wheelchair. I said, the idea is to NOT be dependent on things like that. Mom just wants to be home, she's been away too long.

Ice can make some beautiful natural sculptures. What would be neat is if the lighthouse had heaters built into its sides and could melt all that automatically.

Things aren't going too badly this morning. Word is there aren't a lot of wheels in the back, so once we get through this heavy session we'll be done. Okay. Break is over. Hope everyone has a good day.

Good evening guys,

Pretty slow day around here today. Warm and overcast most of the day, but the rain forecasted never materialized. Still 62° at 5:30pm!

Spent the morning and early afternoon documenting and deconflicting medical charges from my wife's last surgery, and recent scans, against the EOB's received from my insurance. One of my least favorite chores, it's an ugly job but someone has to do it unless you want to get screwed.

Mike- I hope getting your Mom home goes well and she gets settled back in!

Norm - Sorry to hear the switch for the vert top on the CS went TU! Sounds like a big job having to tear the dash apart to get to it. Good luck whenever you start in on it!

My plan for New Years Eve is watching Michigan in the first of the two College Football Playoff semi-final games. I'll watch the 2nd game too, hoping that Georgia crushes Ohio State. Sorry about that one Jim, but I have to root for anyone playing against Ohio State. My favorite sports bumper sticker of all time is, "Woody is a Pecker, and a Buckeye is a Nut!"

Hope everyone had a great day and has a relaxing evening!

Happy 4am everyone.

I hate this new trend of coming in early just for the sake of it. Everyone seems to think we're getting out around 8. Terrific. Lets start at the regular time and get out at 10. What is this two hours going to get us in the grand scheme of things. Eh, above my pay grade.

SO Mom came home yesterday afternoon. No trouble. She got into the car fine, got settled at home fine, and she didn't want me to stay over. I didn't hear from her over night so everything must be fine. I'm very relieved. I think she's glad to be home and will deal better with challenges on her own terms.

My sister flies home today. It was nice having her around. I don't think I've spent this much time with her since we were kids. She has this habit of contradicting everything I say. I won't miss that. She said she's coming back in a couple weeks. Not sure she needs to.

Okay 8am here we come. Have a good Friday everyone.

You should have pre-emptively told her she needs to come back on a couple of weeks so she could contradict you.

The Money Pit comes home today, or that's the rumor, anyway. It's just in time for the monsoon, man we are going to work our way out of this drought in a hurry. I received almost 4 inches in the last 24 hours, and it's raining like the cow and the flat rock right now. If it was 2 degrees colder, it would look like Buffalo does.

The MP needs a new trunk gasket (leak a little last storm) so It will get bagged (car cover) as soon I get home. I have to remember to get weather strip adhesive some time today, or it will stay bagged till the weather changes or I get ambitious and find the missing tube I've put some place. Miata gets to go in storage where it is dry, lucky little girl...Tedd

Well, the Money Pit is home, but not without issues. My Old Man was following me to a local eatery for lunch and noticed I had no brake, turn, or back up lights, nothing at all on the rear was working. Further investigation show that all the exterior lights were laying in the trunk, all working and attached to the electrics, but not in their brackets. Someone forgot to plug everything in, plus the trunk tool cover was missing. They detailed the compartment, but forgot to replace the cover. Makes me wonder what else they forgot! Time will tell, I'm looking for a new shop somewhere less than 100 miles from my house, little or no confidence anymore...Tedd

Hi everyone.

Well we were duped. We didn't leave work until 9. Hit the Awful house then puttered around the house a little and came over here. Mom had a good night, and a good day. My sister got home okay.

Rain hasn't started yet but it kind of feels like it. Gonna be inside stuff tomorrow. Might try doing something fun. Fun what's that.

Gonna hit the road in a minute, maybe sleep in tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Tedd One of the BIG problems with the hobby is there aren't [around here] any shops that can be trusted. The good ones are so backed up with business it could be years before than can take in new work, Its do it yourself or it gets done half a$$. Most of us [me included] cant do body work and mechanical and interior and if we could we would be planted before we got a major project finished. Have you ever noticed how many Departed dads projects for sale? I may be having a flash of sanity and forget about my early K 5 purchase/project I may e better off searching for a One of a Hundred Winchester

Well the monsoon continue, flash flood warning and such, lucky I live on a mountain and water goes down hill. The weatherman says, for what that is worth, we have another week of this before things change. I've seen this happen in the sixties when Oroville dam was just finished, they said it would take 6 years to fill it up, took only one. Stay dry if you can.... Tedd

Hi everyone.

Dank. Gloomy and rainy. It will stop then start up again, so inside stuff to do. Think I'll go get my ears lowered. Unless everything is already closed.

Jamesbo I'm gonna pass on all that stuff, as delicious as it sounds. I'm gonna pass on the Awful house tonight as well. One time I went in there at 1230 on New Years Eve(actually it was Jan 1 already) and sat there two hours before we got any service. The place was jam packed. There's probably more to it than that but another time.

Another problem with the hobby is it's become a rich man's game. Labor hours at a half way decent shop is well over 50/hour and paint is hundreds of dollars for a quart and any kind of resto will cost more than the car is worth.

Thanks Chris things are going slowly but in a positive direction. Someone has dropped the ball with the follow up home health care, but we will get through it.

Okay the sun is trying to come out. The temp is okay outside but still can't do a lot outside. So I'll find something. Hope everyone has a good afternoon.

Happy New Year everyone.

Jim - I've had all those things, and like them all, but never together as a traditional New Year's Day meal. As a kid, New Year's Day in our house meant one thing, watching Football Bowl games, back when all the major Bowl games were on New Year's Day. Our New Year's Day meal always consisted of a large smorgasbord of appetizer type items and sandwich fixins that we would graze on all day and evening. Wonderful memories of those times!!!

[raises hand for cracker acknowledgement]
Went to three stores to find blackeye peas as the blonde one thought she had 2 bags in the pantry but in reality we had 0. No hog jowls or ham, but a pork roast bone that I saved from Thanksgiving to toss into the pot along wit da peas 'n sausage. Jalapeno cornbread sounds good, so I may make that tomorrow.

I had lunch/ dinner with girlfriend at the local Olive Garden, not so crowded, not New Year's Day, but the company was good and the food fine. Made the trip in the BMW in the rain. Might make the Money Pit just a driver and take the strain off myself and fix the Olds like it should be for my show car. Time will tell. .Tedd

Happy New Year everyone.

It's about 5 after 12 and the Greater Stockbridge Area sounds like a war zone. Tiger is non-plussed. Mom is astounded. I'm sitting here in the kitchen hoping none of the ammo comes through the windows.

I don't make resolutions, but this year I will try to be better at whatever I'm doing. And I need to get good at it.

I swear, I can't believe I've never heard of anyone mysteriously dying during New Years. These frickin' people shoot real guns, with real bullets, up in the air. Those bullets have to come down somewhere. It's starting to calm down.

Okay, onward 2023.

Just the ham. Ahh Guinness, a good beer, one of my favorites. I was surprised, very little fireworks last night, which is a good thing. One weekend a blizzard, this weekend, almost no snow, as temps were in the 40's-50's all week.

Dan - Very few fireworks here also, especially considering how nice out it was. I was happily surprised for the dog's sake! Got up to 65° here today, crazy, but I'll take it!

Greg - Glad you and the missus enjoy the pizzas! I tend to alternate between the Sausage and the Meat Lovers, although I think I like the Meat Lovers slightly more. Besides being good, they're a great value. Hope you have a great 2023!

Do we not have any New Yorkers to pose an argument against this? I don't treally GAS as being a Southerner I have no connections to either Chicago or New York pizzas, but I am known as an instigator and overall pot stirrer.

Hi everyone.

Turned out to be a right nice day today. I got the one Cutlass out of the hangar and swept up a little. This morning I got some 10' 2x4s and cut them to prop up the rafters. I got one put in, but can't put the others in because I need to move another car. I hope I'll get that done tomorrow. Rain tomorrow night and the rafters are looking rather compromised.

Did the shopping today by myself. It went much easier and didn't take as long. Another 4 day week. I think that's it for extra time off for awhile. I don't remember if we get Milk Day off or not.

Not staying up near as long tonight. Didn't sleep real well once I got home so it was a little slow getting going this morning, but I'm pleased with what I got done today. Hope everyone had a good first day of the year. Only 364 more and we can do it all over again.

Have a good night everyone.

Mike, as this is coming from a Chicago area native, I have to be dubious until I have proof otherwise.

I can provide an address for delivery of both Chicago and New York style pizzas so that this argument can be resolved.
