The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Jamesbo I was going to tell you. I work with a guy named Grizzard. I didn't know that was his last name and he asked me to print off his resume. So I said, obviously related to Lewis. He didn't really know who that was, he said, ya, he was some distant great grandfather. I thought that was weird. Even if you don't know your distant ancestors, surely he would have heard of him because of his fame and reputation.
I don't think we ended with 100 wheels this afternoon. People stayed over but the lead wasn't amused. It's funny, once upon a time this group of guys was awesome. And even now, they are all awesome individually. But get them in a group, good luck getting anything out of them.
So in the CO history lesson, I'm on page 60-something. Udo from Germany has just surfaced. It's winter again and Sandy is complaining about the weather and the end of car show season. Scot just got a job at the Post Office.

The Lions game sure sounded like "The Game" of the day! Unfortunately, we did not get it here in our slate of games, it sucked. I'm very glad they keep winning though!
I can now resume my day job. I've been giving our town's boom lift truck a workout removing large piles of limbs, branches, vines & detritus the past two weeks. I'll be creating soon large piles of wooden timber once this carb gets installed. Gorgeous day of playing golf today.
Hey guys,
My daughter took my grandson to his regular pediatrician today about his frequent urination problem. The pediatrician provided her with the names of a couple of specialists, but also suggested that she give his condition a week or two to potentially resolve itself, in case it might be due to some type of anxiety, or possibly bladder spasms. My daughter is going to heed the pediatrician's advice and give it a little time as long as he isn't in any pain. Thanks to all who provided well wishes for him. I'll let ya'll know when I hear more.
Going over to my buddy's place on Wednesday to visit. This is my friend that recently had the cancer operation, plus chemo and radiation. He has warned me he doesn't look really great and is very thin and pretty weak. At 6' 9", he was never heavy to begin with, but was always healthy. He went to Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville on a full ride basketball scholarship. We've been close pals for over 40-years now. I'm saying alot of prayers these days that his cancer stays in remission because I just can't imagine this world without him.

Welcome to getting old. My dad has lost several buddies over the past 20 years, 60 to 79 for him. My grandmother, who made it to 100, reached the point that her friends 20 years younger than she was were dying. She would inform me that getting old was hell, kid (and she was about 95 at the time), and I told her it was better than the alternative. We said we'd throw a big wake when she passed; she requested it be earlier so she could attend. I think she had 3 100th birthday parties and a Thanksgiving that week, so we did.
Good morning everyone.
Better start to the day today. The lead wants us to get ahead to make up for the two extra days we'll be off next week. I can see that. My suggestion was to work those days and take them as floating holidays. No one else wanted to do that.
Jamesbo I think all those zero turns are evil. I think they'd be a lot better if they had a steering wheel and pedals. It would drive like a bumper car.
So I had to do some computer based training this morning. Harassment and bullying. It would give scenarios, such as Alan told Betty a lewd joke and Betty looked uncomfortable. And then would ask what should I do. But when I'd select mind my own business it was wrong. Hm.
I remember when Scot lost his job at the Post Office, seems to me the manager wanted to put in his cousin or something, and needed Scot out of the way and made up some drama. Nothing real exciting going on in the history lesson.
Okay gotta get ready for break. Have a good day everyone.

We have those trainings at Toyota. I put them up on my other monitor, and keep working. This way I can double up on my productivity. I guess on the quizzes at the end by just remembering HR and their ilk are the most woke trash on the planet, so I think "What would woke trash do here?" and respond accordingly.
The workplace violence one is amazing. I want to buy the guy that plays the angry old white man employee a drink, he acts very well. Toyota policy for workplace violence is what we call "Run, Hide, Fire Extinguisher" for that they want you to run first, if not, hide, if not, fight with something available. They forget this is Indiana, it is state law that employers cannot prohibit weapons in personal cars on company property, and most of us, I think, use that legal protection. People would just go get them if needed.

As for workplace security/safety, that was never a concern of mine. With multiple guards toting AR-15's at all entry points to the Base and patrolling the grounds, and all the indoor Security Guards with automatic pistols on their hips, I felt safe. I would say 99% of the Guards were former military or law enforcement. There were massive stone walls, with concertina wire on top. All vehicles wanting access had to have the correct credentials including DoD window sticker and you had to show the guard your badge. Other vehicles like delivery trucks were subjected to thorough searchs on the street outside the Base. Our Base was historically the site of the St. Louis Arsenal, and as such was built like a brick shithouse!

Chris I had never heard of concertina wire, I had to look it up. Surprise surprise, it's strung all around the airport. It is not totally infallible. A couple years ago some fellow who was stoned or similar took off all his clothes and draped it over the razor wire surrounding the airport and climbed over. Then he ran across the field and jumped up on the wing of an MD88(because they are low) that was taxiing past and was looking in the windows of the plane and seeing some rather shocked people.
Our good start didn't last long. We've had a full supply of wheels all day, but the workers are more interested in sitting and talking. I think they've posted a lookout because all of a sudden they will all jump up and start working, and a minute later the lead will show up. I haven't been to the roll up door in a while, don't know if it's sunny out or what.
Norm that's a shame about the pizza at Midway. One might think that in a premier pizza town as Chicago there would be good pizza at every turn. But one would be mistaken.
So if it's nice this afternoon I'm going to take my battery charger over and jump off the tractor. I don't really want to use the tractor today but the battery is about dead and I don't want it to go completely dead. And hey, I could drive the tractor around a little bit, that would be fun.
In the history lesson this afternoon our friend John from da swamp showed up. And so did I! Funny reading some things I wrote, I kinda don't remember it all. It was only 12 years ago.

I do the same thing. For whatever reason, all of the trainings now are videos as opposed to a page of text that I can read at my own pace (which is click the NEXT button as fast as I can). With the videos, I used to grab the play bar and drag it to the end, but they wised up and disabled that feature. So now I start the video and go to my work bench, to the restroom, or something that is NOT watching the video. Watching the video is not necessary to answer the quiz questions correctly, as John noted above.
Good morning everyone.
Mediocre start to the day. I'm long over it. Cloudy this morning when I left but somehow fairly light out. And not too cold.
Apparently that is a zero turn mower. It took zero turns and went straight into the AC.
Our CBTs used to be able to be started and left alone, with unlimited tries to pass the test at the end. Didn't take long for someone to figure that out, so they became interactive. Now they are just click to continue. For awhile we only had three tries to pass the test and then your manager had to reset it. That didn't last long because that's all the manager was doing was resetting everyone's tests.
Is there such a thing that will hack into someone's bluetooth and change what it's playing? There's a bluetooth speaker in the shop and these guys hook up to it and play the dumbest **** all day long. By the end of the day my head is pounding. I would love to intercept the signal and shut it all down.
So yesterday I put the tractor on charge and got it started and let it run a little while. In the mean time I was clipping big spikey vines and putting them into a trash bag. There used to be roses on the side of the house, but they went crazy and are now vines with daggers on them. Doesn't matter how thick your gloves are, these fricken' things go right through. Didn't get them all but it looks a lot better.
Well Hump Day already. Enjoy the day everyone.

Do any of you guys know what this is? It's not a UFO, and I will say the top pole is attached to a helicopter. I didn't know what it was until I did a search for it, so now I know. I didn't even have a clue that something like this existed!
They are roses, or at least they used to be. Haven't had flowers out of them in a few years. I had so much fun yesterday I might fill up another trash bag of it all today.
So that thing they tow below a helicopter to clear the power lines, does it clear them physically, as in there is stuff on the lines and it gets it off, or does it defrag them or something electronic? Never seen one.
We are finished with our work for the day. But the people who do the work are going to keep going to get a head start on tomorrow.
Today on the history lesson Blue Vista has been gone and now is back. Same with Bulldog/Norton. Clint's parents are both in the hospital, and Scot just got new carpet in his house. I said I was going to Florida to buy a car from a friend, and for the life of me couldn't figure out what car it was. Well, when I said I also bought a 68 Chevy C10 I remembered the car was an 81 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit. Geez I didn't need to be reminded of that.

Mike - Each is a saw blade. I’ve seen them w/ as many as a dozen large blades. They travel the power lines generally “ahead” of any branches which could fall onto lines disrupting service & causing fires. They’re primarily used to maintain power line right of ways.
Norm and Jim nailed it. Those multiple saw blades attached to the helicopter are used to clear branches and vines away from powerlines. Pretty cool! Like I said, I never knew any technology like that existed before I saw it operating along the treeline behind my house the last few days.
