Chris my feeling is if I want it, I need it. Case closed. No one here to tell me otherwise. One of them jump boxes would be pretty handy.

Okay see ya's.
Mike - Spaghetti sounds good, I like mushrooms and meat in my sauce too. We usually buy the mushrooms added sauce, then my wife browns burger to add, and we add extra mushrooms from a can. I could eat good spaghetti once a week.

I like the way you think about the "want" vs. "need" thing. Being stranded could be a major inconvenience, or worse, dangerous, I've convinced myself it's a need. Now the search to find the one I want, sorry, I mean need.

Chris, I would put Jump box in the need category, I have one in my boat house and one in the garage here

I would put my purchase of a :deal" on 50 cal ammo boxes and an original safety chain for an M100 trailer in the "want column" [who knows why] hence the check to St Judes

Mike, I was just curious if you beat up the guy selling/ I would be scared to death of one [anything] not running BUT all it needs is ABC part and it's good as new

Mike, I know this may come as as shock to you but they do sell ground beef at Walmart [in handy dandy freezable plastic tubes] If you swish it around in a hot pan with onions, bell pepper, garlic and some Italian spices your spaghetti would be a whole lot better. You've got the stove on anyway

I'm making Alfred sauce with mushrooms tonite

James - The Alfredo sauce looks really tasty, another one of my favorites. Do you eat it over any particular type of pasta? We usually eat it over what they call the "large" pasta shells which are about the size of a quarter, but we also sometimes have it over broad egg noodles. I like them both. Sometimes she will add broccoli to make Pasta con Broccoli.

Chris, I would add sum broccoli but the pantry is bare, Tonite it's going over fettucine, but truth be know it's pretty good one cardboard

My new welded steel header wasn't ready for pickup on Friday so, I'm gonna get it in the morning. I've already braced up the rafters and am ready to cut the ole 2x6 band out, Skid steer and gravel coming Wednesday

Now Jamesbo I don't want to go crazy. That does sound good but like Norm says, baby steps. My stove only gets turned on about once a year.

I kind of lied a little. I'm not having spaghetti but Penne pasta. Like a doof I'm standing there looking at all the different pastas trying to decide which one I want. They're all the same stuff! Just different looking. So the Penne was the first one I grabbed.

Well, Momma did not disappoint, a wonderful Pot Roast with red skinned taters, baby carrots, and onions, along with her famous homemade yeast rolls. Boy am I stuffed, and ready for a nap.

Jackfruit w/ spinach, potatoes, onion, green beans, chick peas, red bell pepper & carrots - garnished top Asiago cheese, garnish side Feta cheese. Just a couple steps removed from the North American continent. Delicious.

Wow, leave it up to Norm to make a meal with a fruit I've never even heard of! I had to activate the link and check it out. Sounds interesting, and I'd try just about anything once, but I would not have traded my tried and true Pot Roast for it.

Chris, The stew looks wonderful [as do the rolls] Sho nuff comfort food

Norm, Interesting. That's what [ one of the many] things I like about cooking, there's always something new to try

I just made fondant potatoes for the 1st time a few months ago. I thought [ being a tater lover] I had made them every way possible but I learned I was wrong

My dear departed Mother always like to try "new" things' I can remember in the 50's [as strange as it may sound] my mother taking me to the 1st Pizza parlor in Atlanta Gigi's

Atlanta must have 5000 today [maybe more]

Mike, I'd be happy to learn ya how to cook a few things and toss them in the freezer [Chili, spaghetti, meatloaf etc] Some days it nice to just come home a "Nuke" a nice meal. I'd hate for your stove to get dusty

Norm, I'll tell ya one job I wouldn't have on a bet

Assistant pro

At 7:00 a.m. he's answering the phone when its pouring rain and working for peanuts, weekends and holidays

I think it's about time to post Nanelle's [mother's] southern Thanksgiving dressing recipe

1 onion diced , 4 stalks of celery diced, 6 chicken thighs cooked and chopped. 1 pan of cornbread dried and crumbled chicken stock [ better than bouillon works well,] 2 eggs

Cook corn bread and crumble. place in oven to dry [so it will absorb all the good flavors]

Sautee onions and celery in 2 sticks of butter

Cook chicken thighs and chop

Mix dried corn bread cooked chicken, chopped celery and onions [with butter] and place in Fridge [ if it does get cool when you add the eggs you're going to have scrambled eggs

Stir in 2 eggs and COOL chicken stock

Place in Pyrex dish and bake at 350 until brown on top and a little firm

Serve with strawberry preserves [there were no cranberries in the rural south]

Went to the MCACN show yesterday, sorry no pics. It was good but I won't go again. It reminded me of the shows they have in Cobo hall, though Chicago is further from my place than Detroit. Not that it was bad- actually it was very good, but over 700 miles round trip along with a traffic jam on I94 is too much. Besides how many 69 Camaros can you look at before becoming bored? There were a lot of Olds'. It seemed a huge amount of 66 and 67 442's Oh yes I love them, but here is a silver one, here's a red one, next, a black one, a green, a white.... on and on. I don't know how city people can stand living like that, So crowded, and traffic!! My buddy punched in buffets near us on Google and there was one 1/2 mile away, so we go there, Guess what, it was a casino, and all was there was a food line with cellophane wrapped sandwiches, etc. AND CROWDED!!! And had to walk a block cuz all parking full, didn't eat there. So left Chicago headed towards northern Indiana and got in the traffic jam for about a hour, finally stopped at a Cracker Barrel some where in Indiana. Service was slow and food was cold- geez. Ah still it was a good day with old high school buddies. Ugh! Got home at almost midnight last night- a long day!

Greg - That is a helluva long day trip! Glad there were alot of nice Olds there, but for all the reasons you mentioned, I don't think I would have been too enthused either. I have lived here in St. Louis since '83. I used to go home to Michigan much more often than I do now. I used to alternate my routes between going north (55 or 57) to Chicago and then taking 80/I-94 around the south side of Chicago and on east to Battle Creek, or taking 70 east to Indiana and then north on 69 to Marshall and west on 94 to BC. The two routes were almost exactly the same distance, 500-miles. After getting caught in horrible traffic jams on 80/I-94 south of Chicago on two consecutive trips that way back in the late 80's, I swore I'd never take that route again, and never did. I-94 is one of the worst, maybe the worst, highway I've ever driven on for being continously beat to crap and under construction. I'm assuming it's due to the all the heavy truck traffic between Detroit and Chicago, combined with those Michigan winters, I now try to avoid it like the plaque.

Good morning guys,

James - The cornbread dressing looks yummy. My Mom's was very different, croutons vs. cornbread, and Turkey giblets vs. Chicken thighs. The rest of the ingredients were the same. She would however stuff the bird with the dressing, and the extra would get baked in a separate pan. The dressing cooked inside the bird was always best, it was more moist and I believe the grease/moisture from the bird added to the flavor. Making the croutons for the dressing was assigned to my brother and me. Mom would dry out 1 or more loaves of bread on the oven racks, then we would sit at the kitchen table and break them all up into nickel size pieces. Mom's quality control was was pretty stringent, they couldn't be too big or too small.

Pretty chilly, 33° F right now at 0900, not sure how cold it got overnight, it was supposed to get down in the upper 20's, definitely winter like for here. The morning low tomorrow is supposed to be 25°.

Right now I have absolutely no plans for today. I'm sure my wife can find something for me to do furniture related, or she will need something from the store. TBD
I really hate wishing time away, but I'm already anxious for Spring to come, and Winter has just started.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi everyone.

Odd day at work. I don't think we hit 120. The lead wasn't there and another guy stood up and said just do as many as you can. Well, that set the I don't give a damn mindset into overdrive. I hope the lead is there tomorrow.

Nice today. It rained over night but not hard. Warmed up and was sunny. Gonna be colder than a witch's tit tonight.

Jamesbo usually when I go to see my Mom she has made a lot of food and divvied it up into individual meals, and I bring that home and that's what I eat. Works out. Lately she's been slacking off. I really should start cooking for myself. I'm pretty good at it, when I get in the mood.

That 5 ton is awesome.

Chris what did you end up doing today?

Every since the gas was turned on here there's been a leak. I thought, maybe it will seal itself. Nope. I was in the crawl space yesterday and it was so strong I couldn't hardly breathe. So I called this afternoon when I got home, expecting to get the same runaround, we'll send someone after the first full moon when it lands on Tuesday. I swear there was someone here within a half hour. He found a couple small leaks, tried to take the meter off and couldn't, like the last guy, and said Phuque It and put on a brand new meter. He had to take the old one off at the pipe connections because that one fitting just wasn't budging, and he was using a pretty big pipe wrench.

Norm that girl's pants need to be orange because that *** is a peach.

Okay gonna wind down and then hit the sack. Day 2 is upon us. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Mike - Yeah, gas companies take any gas leak even the absolute smallest as a Priority One call. They responded as you'd hopefully expect.

Mike - Honestly, I didn't do $hit, except for my usual weightlifting workout, getting the trash to the street, and picking up the dog poop. Pretty damn boring day. However, right now I have lemon bars in the oven and they should be ready to eat in about a 1/2-hour. I'm hoping they turn out OK, I didn't have my glasses on when reading the recipe and I shorted the lemon mixture by one egg, it called for 3 and I only put in 2.

Sure glad you got that gas leaked fixed!

Yes Jamesbo the third one is a 5 ton. Someone here had one of those, I forgot his name. He doesn't show up anymore. I don't know what the first one is, and it looks like a different series of 5 ton in the second picture. There's a couple places around town that have military vehicles for movies. And there's a place in Blairsville where you can drive military vehicles over the tops of wrecked cars, for 600 bucks a half hour.

So I've been giggling like a school girl all afternoon. It's no secret I like the Herbie movies, the first one being my favorite. I was watching clips of it at lunch today and I got to laughing. Everyone looked at me like I was nuts. They couldn't hear what I was laughing at because I had my headphones on.

The noise the oil makes around 2:28 sends me over the edge.

Okay now I'm going to bed. Nighty night.

Mike, one of my coworkers is a VW Bug fan and has “Ocho the stunt car” from the Herbie movie with the bull fight. It’s the stand in car that got abused by the bull. He restored it and loaned it to a local dealership where it’s on display in their showroom.

I did enjoy those movies as a kid. I was upset by him getting thrown overboard and didn't watch that one again for years.

I have a lot of records in the queue to be cleaned, so I got the record machines out.

Wow, that's quite the set-up. I don't think I even have one of the cylindrical soft bristled hand cleaner tools anymore, or at least I don't know where it is. Of course it's only once in a blue moon when I pull a piece of vinyl out anymore.

Good morning guys,

Just plain cold here this morning, 25° F at 0700, looking at a high in the mid-40's. At least I'm up earlier this morning, 0630, but probably only because both dogs got me up to go out. I can sleep alot better in the Winter when it's much cooler in the house. We (I mainly) turn the heat down at night to 65° to save energy and to sleep better. My wife has a sheet and 3 heavy blankets on her side of the bed, I only have a sheet and one light blanket. The woman is always cold. During the day in the Winter we try to keep the main living area around 70° F. This can usually be accomplished by only running the gas fireplace and closing the doors to the bedrooms. The main furnace won't cycle on unless it's extremely cold (mid-20's) outside.

Again, no big plans for today. I can't believe Thursday is Thanksgiving already, it's hard for me to believe it's already upon us. I really enjoy my wife's Thanksgiving meal every year, and eating the leftovers for days afterwards, my waistline suffers however. Guess we'll see what the day brings?

Hope everyone has a great day?

SAFELITE technician was here this morning. The entire experience was fantastic. He found the issue & where it's leaking. It is the location at the top of the driver's side A-Pillar corner. Very clever the manner in which he found the leak to be certain. He took "foaming" glass cleaner, sprayed the entire windshield seam thoroughly then too my air compressor hose & nozzle and forced air from the inside the truck along the windshield seal and sure enough, it demonstrated/produced the windshield seal lifting and blowing air from the interior to the exterior along the broken/lifted seal.

He said it would be covered under warranty for a new windshield. He took my VIN and I just got a call from his SAFELITE office. The bad news at this point (which I was suspecting), they can't find my VIN number associated with my name registered with SAFELITE for my vehicle - at least as far back as 2010. I indicated the windshield was replaced in 2005, of course the woman who called asked for paperwork which I stated I don't have and it may be located up North in our primary residence (which is a lie because I don't have a primary residence up North anywhere). But, I wasn't going to state I didn't save the receipt and can't find a receipt from 17 years ago. So, she stated it needs to move to corporate for review. So, I'm more or less in limbo at the moment. I can understand this and I'm hoping for the best. None-the-less, I'm relieved to have actually been able to "find" the source of the water/leak/intrusion which provides a great deal of relief moving forward. I asked what the charge was for today and there wasn't any charge - at all. That was great.

Next step is for me to address the constant alarm buzzing (when I don't pull fuse #41). When I pull fuse #41 the alarm buzzing stops, but I have no odometer, no dash panel lighting, no radio, no electric windows, no electric door locks and several other electric items don't work. I've been reviewing/researching such an issue and I suspect two things: (1) Either the GEM/VSM module has been compromised with corrosion, shorted or whatever; or, the fuse box itself has been compromised with corrosion, shorted or whatever. This is a peculiar (novel) year of production since it was this year Ford changed from a GEM to a VSM, and additionally, they changed the location of the GEM or VSM. Earlier in production the GEM or VSM was located behind the fuse box (panel), later model productions of the same year had the GEM/VSM module located more towards the center up under the dash on the firewall mounted to two bolt attached to the firewall and the GEM/VSM attaches to those two bolts via two nuts from this side of the firewall - which, is a terribly difficult are to work.

Anyways, very relieved to have found the leak, hopefully I can get warranty coverage for replacement, and hopefully I won't be pulling my hair out long to find the electrical issue. And, finally - honestly, I sure Phuque hope it was SAFELITE who replaced my windshield in 2005 because I'm beginning to question why they can't find my in the system. But, here's a small catch, SAFELITE didn't begin using updated software to record and store customer information until 2010.

Baby, steps...baby steps.

EDIT: I just got to thinking about this and I'm nearly 99.9% certain it was SAFELITE because my auto insurance company recommended SAFELITE in 2005, because they only contract with SAFELITE (even though they didn't cover the original cost of replacement because my deductible at the time was $1000 and I didn't have a separate windshield replacement binder/policy) and I used SAFELITE. No biggie, I feel better knowing it was SAFELITE though since I can better speak to the representatives with more confidence moving forward. More baby steps.
