The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Norm - That is a wonderful looking salad! Sorry, I can't get onboard the Packers bandwagon these days since Rogers lied to everyone about being vaccinated. It's one thing for your "average Joe" to lie about something like that, but when someone who is supposed to be a role model, and has such a huge platform does it, it's pretty despicable in my book.
Norm - Earlier in the season, in an interview, he told everyone he had been "immunized", he didn't use the word vaccinated. Same, same, in my book. About 3-weeks ago he came up positive for Covid and the truth came out that he really had not been vaccinated. He had to sit out a week, a game Green Bay then lost, until he cleared the protocol. It was heavily in the national news for a week, shouldn't be hard to find a reliable source if you want to read more about it.

Well nothing to write home about in the junkyard today. I did see something I thought odd. There were probably 6 or 8 late model Australian made Caprice police cars that were all bashed up in the front, like they had rammed things. Stripped of all their police stuff of course, and only one had the engine still in it.
Professional sports stars lying about something? Say it ain't so.
So I went over to the house after the junkyard. The other day the guy came to get one of his cars. Didn't bother to tell me he was going to be there. I need to put one of my cars in a spot that was blocked by one of his cars. Behind his car was the remnant of a bon fire. So I got the tractor and pushed the pile over to the side of the yard. Then I got a chain and I drug the car all the way to the other side of the yard. Now I have room to get my truck in there with the car and get the car situated. Maybe I didn't need to drag the car quite so far, but I'll bet he'll get a message out of it.
So, I'm off tomorrow so I can go to the doctor. Seeing a specialist about my hip. Everyone is a specialist. My appointment is first thing, so maybe I can get something done afterward.

Chris - Yea, I just read the entire shenanigans. Odd I hadn't heard this new. None-the-less, if what I read is true, there's no excuse for his loathsome conduct. Reminds me of numerous of my cousins in WI. *******!
Maybe you should think about having your own bonfire at the new house with all the previous owner's junk that you don't want around anymore???
Chris that would be some bon fire. He's left a lot of old tires. Once they catch on fire, they don't go out for weeks.
Norm, getting back to that tent thing people put over their pools, do you know if it repels water? Part of the potty room's function will be that Tiger can go out when it's raining and not get wet. I'm going to research this but thought I'd ask.
Got some laundry going. Like yesterday, I'm going to mess around in the basement while I'm waiting on it and get some more things packed up.
Chilly out, but a nice night. No yard parties going on tonight.

Please give it a try, I'm fairly confident, It would soon be on your top 10 list [as it is on mine] Sorry no quantities on the Louie sauce, Mayo, a splash of ketchup , a few drops of lemon and Old Bay to taste, Stir taste, stir taste [baby steps pf course]
--Hi guys, bite, bite, bite, that's what Buddy wants to do all the time. My hands and arms have little puppy bites, scratches all over. He also wants to play with anything you have, blankets, clothes, etc. But only a couple times have we caught him chewing on furniture. He has his toys and has a great time with them. He's lots of fun.
-- Last week I took the front sheet metal off the 56. ( Both Front fenders, hood, both inner fenders etc,) going to take all over to a sand/media/whatever??? blaster today. I hope weather is better when I get back as I don't want any of it to get wet. I will paint it with 2 part epoxy when I get it all back, then start on rust repairs.
--Yesterday wife and I got the Christmas tree out of the attic. Noticed small mouse type poop on floor- UH oHH! Where could that come from? Well 2 years ago we found a bat in the rafters.... hmmmm... He was taken care of and I thought all was good. Then I had new shingle roof installed and they fixed some spots they thought a bat might come in at , so I thought all good. Well yesterday I banged up in rafters and heard that familiar buzzing/squeaking sound- yep, another one. Knocked down a piece of insulation and down came the mostly hibernating bat.... Put a box over him and took him out. It was just about freezing temp yesterday but he was out. Supposedly you legally can't kill a bat I read. So of course I abide by the law....

Greg, Be careful,
A friend of mine was taking down his flag after the 4th and got bitten by a bat Unfortunately, they don't know if it had rabies or not so he had to go through the painful procedure

Between your truck and bats sounds like you've been busy. Several of us were talking about mice repellents, I wonder if there are repellents that work well on bats that you could put in the attic??? Post us some pics of your truck as you move through the process if you have time. Be safe on those wintery Michigan roads!
Mike - The friends of mine residing in Florida who own outdoor pools have insect/debris enclosures with that really strong black netting material but none of them repel water.
James - It will be on one of my next grocery store shopping lists - sounds delicious.
Greg - I like bats - I think they're cool. We studied them in several college courses (e.g. mammalogy). I helped study them for the NPS on the Buffalo National River, in Arkansas for several years while I was involved in a couple projects with the USFWS & USGS. I was logging & registering bat species & bat counts in numerous caves I helped those agencies map caves & install USGS markers. Truly remarkable experiences watching/counting/registering millions of bats exit/enter caves during flight - exactly as you've seen on TV or any other program - entire opening of a cave (some extremely large say 100' radius) filled solid with bats in flight. As most know, many caves provided significant guano fertilizer for early agriculture. I've witnessed some cave floors with bat guano stacked 30'H x 50'W. We used to catch them all the time in Aunt/Uncle barns in Wisconsin and the polish raised flat (duplex) I owned in Milwaukee, WI generally had a couple in the attic each year. Good luck on moving stuff today.
I "think" I'm playing golf today - I'm experiencing major symptoms of withdrawal. Chilly today but the remainder of the week is absolutely gorgeous. Today, wind ~14mph @ 50°F - gusting to 20mph. We'll see.

Had some speakers arrive UPS last week damaged. Vendor is sending new set to be here today, I send the old ones back to them with the same guy.
Played with the new amp, I may need to adjust DC offset voltage at idle closer to zero on one channel. I'm not much of an electronics guy, but I can learn. I will try to learn about bias current next.

Good morning everyone.
No work for me! Had a doctor's appointment at 8. Finally gonna get serious about treating my hip. The list of things I can't do now has grown too long and it's time to get it fixed. Had Xrays and spoke with the doctor, young guy very nice, I think we have a good plan going forward.
Nice out today, a little chilly. Gonna warm up into the 70s this week. Wonderful! I plan on moving that car over to the house today. Work tomorrow though so I can't take all afternoon, I'll have to end early to get ready for tomorrow. That's okay, any extra time is good.
Greg the puppy-ness will end, then you will say, I wish he was still a puppy. I don't think we've seen a picture of the lad.
Okay off I go. Hope everyone has a good start to the week. December this week.

No, Chris, it's all good. I've had arthritis in my hip for several years now. At first it was barely noticeable. Then it got a little worse and I thought it was sciatica. Then it affected the way I walk. Now I have a lot of pain when I walk, or stand for a long time, or twist. My doctor said absolutely no replacement, I'm too young. Easy for him to say. Long story longer, the inspection bit at my work almost killed me that second week in a row I did a few weeks ago, so I went to the doctor and said something has to give. He referred me to this place I went today. The doctor was very nice but direct. He said, it's not going to get better. We have three choices, live with it, do an injection that will be temporary, or hip replacement. We both decided, actually, that an injection would be best for right now. He said if I get relief, great. If not, start talking about a replacement. I said, I'm not against a replacement, but I have to get my head wrapped around replacing parts of my body. So we'll see how this goes. I'm cautiously optimistic.
Well I started out going to the house to get the truck, but detoured(the opposite direction) to Awful house. I figured since I won't see my Friday buddies on Friday I'll go see them today. Only one guy was there, we had a good lunch. Then I went to get my truck and after break I'm going to load up the dark blue Valiant and haul it over.
Koda if we lived closer together, we could be work out buddies and keep each other motivated in becoming un-fat. I don't have far to go, maybe 100 pounds. I need to put my Soloflex together and start using it again. Yes I'm stuck in the 80s.
Okay break is over. I need to air up a couple tires then come along the Valiant up on the tow dolly. I'm only going 3 miles so I hope I don't heat up the transmission too much dragging it with the back wheels on the ground.

Speaking of bats, (in a roundabout way) I found an owl pellet in the back yard several years ago. Y'all know what those are, right?
Anyway, I mentioned it to one of the physical analysists and she said to bring it in and she would image it in the CT x-ray. We got the image below, and I did some research to find out what kind of bones those are.
The long finger looking bones appeared to be a match for a bat wing (there's the bat content). I was fairly surprised that an owl could catch a bat, but then again I don't know what owls typically eat.

Yes, Just got it delivered this afternoon
The jury is still out like most newer stuff, there are alot of electronic gismos My old Massey Ferguson only had lights and a starter
That's what prompted my concerns about mice

Mike - With regards to viewing Greg's "lad". I rotated several of Greg's images about one month ago when Greg posted images of his puppy.
Kenneth - Oh heavens, owls will eat bats. Not too difficult to catch for them. The majority of owls have offset ears and can very rapidly hone in on a flying bat. It's rather funny because I just read a couple replies from several on-line forums with supposed life-long birders talking about owls having to see their prey in daylight to catch them, etc. Don't believe half of what you read, as I'm sure you're aware. Owls capture much of the their prey via echo triangulation location. Not in the sense of an owl emitting sounds to locate direction, but in the fact they can pickup sounds via echo triangulation location with absolute precision because their ears are offset providing superb honing skills with those offset ears.
Koda - Most devices do not have a potentiometer to allow adjustment of bias settings - bias is generally built-in. You "can" change the bias of a tube amplifier by changing the brand and the tube type. I'm not an expert on bias, but bias is basically the nominal (normal) amount of amperage draw by an amplifier - power tubes having the greatest impact on normal operating bias (amperage draw). Most amplifiers will have an amperage draw which falls within the "range" of the normal operating draw of the amplifier based upon the normal standard tube configurations. So, you could install cooler or hotter tubes and reduce the amperage draw or increase the amperage draw - each producing just a little cooler or hotter sound. At least, that's my very layman term of describing it.

3032 E A mite bit larger
E= hydrostatic tramsmixer
No clutch. Right side right peddle back up left peddle forward. Some say it works well with a front end loader Easy back/forward w/o shifting gears
Norm, She's a virgin Still has a sticker on the bucket

Norm, I like bats too, but not in my house! Plan was to get a bat house and mount it in the yard after I found 1st one, but I never did it. I think I surely will get one now. James nice tractor, I'm sure you will really like the hydrostatic drive. My son a New Holland tractor with a loader and It is a stick shift/clutch drive, sometimes it's sort of scary and I can see hydro drive would be alot better.
My Mom always said I have bats in my belfry. When I first moved into this house I had an inspection done and the inspector said he saw evidence of bats in the attic. He said that wasn't a bad thing. I read later that bat **** is very toxic to humans. Hm. I go up in the attic(crawl space filled with blown in insulation really) and I've never seen a bat.
Thanks Chris. I'm hoping the injection does some good, so I have a little time to shed some weight. I really gotta be serious about that now. Scheduled for December 29.
Jamesbo I love the tractor! Looks like mine, but mine has a backhoe instead of [whatever yours has]. Mine is also hydrostatic drive. Takes a little getting used to but it's okay. Is it 4 wheel drive?
Norm I'll have to pretend that I saw Greg's pictures. A month ago could mean going through 25 pages and I'm not going to do that.
Got the Valiant loaded up and delivered to the other house. It went surprisingly smooth for a one man operation. But man I'm beat. Certainly got my exercise in for the day.
Greg my phone says you posted up some pictures of your truck. I'll see them in a minute.
Now to call my Mom and then hit the sack. Work tomorrow. Have a good evening everyone.

I didn't post a score for as well as I was striking the ball today - sometimes that happens - but, I was very pleased with my ball striking today. I believe I had only two errant fairway shots (dropped my right shoulder), but several (as in three) double-bogeys cost me dearly; although, I had two birdies for the round of 41/45. Conditions were "tolerable" with a steady breeze of ~19mph, gusting to ~25mph w/ a temperature of ~49°F - 50°F - kinda chilly. The remainder of the week looks great with a high of 70°F Friday and 3mph wind. Bring it.
Greg - Thanks for the pic of your truck and Buddy. Damn, he's a cute little feller! Is the plan for your truck to get all the exterior prepped and ready for paint over the Winter, and then shoot the paint after it warms up some in the Spring? For some reason, I am thinking you said something about painting it a gun metal gray, is that right, or am I totally off base?
Whoever that inspector was that said bats aren't bad... don't ever use him again. Several coronaviruses have originated from bats. Just like any other mammal, they poop. A LOT. And that poop will accumulate in your attic and insulation.
Mike, hope the shot helps. A man needs to walk.
James, nice dirt mover. Will that deal with the graves?
Norm, I think you're right on the bats. Also right on the amp. There are trim pots for offset and for meter zeroing. Bias is built in, like you say (and as in most things, as well.) I will listen for a while more and see if I should tweak settings. The new speakers arrived today. After a wiring goof, they sound quite good. I have placed them into their semi-permanent spots. I have to move a bookshelf to make a hole, and I squared the big recliner to it. It is not a big enough room, really, for all this gear, but it should sound good. On the other hand, 4 x (at least) 150 WPC, there may not be a big enough room anyway.
Cute little beggar, Greg.

John - You have trim pots (potentiometers) for offset & zero metering? That's awesome. Sorry, I can't recall what kind of amp you're even referring to at the moment. It's a tube amp correct? I am really only familiar with bias settings for tube amps. If it wasn't so late in the evening I'd look up the normal operating bias of my Mesa Boogie MarkII amplifier to validate the normal (standard) operating bias. I used to get into this type of stuff far more often than I do any longer. Now, I'm just happy to have the remaining ability play through one of the best sound producing amplifiers in the business without having to worry about it's tuning characteristics. Which reminds me, I think I forgot to hook up the reverb in my amp the last time I changed out the tubes.
Norm, It's been 50 years since I've done that procedure, Trying to remember how
Mike, Yes it's 4 wheel drive, That's a tiller on the rear
Koda no we won't dig any grave, It's just for maintenance. We sub out "openings and closing to a company that uses a trac hoe
Greg cute pup, If I'm ever single again. I'm going to get a puppy for a chick magnet
SAFELITE to arrive between 8:00am - 1:00pm for windshield replacement. It's a tad nipply this morning @ 31°F. I'm going to remain inside until required to venture outdoors. Temps should get to 55°F later this morning.
James - I asked yesterday:
It's no big deal other than I was only curious.
James - I asked yesterday:
The 303E loader you have appears to be standard not MSL, correct?
