Hi i can read that you have really hot temprature in US here we have about 20 C ( 70 F ? ) today.
My wife and i took our Harleys for a ride in the nice weather got us some food at Diner 45.
Tasted awesome The bikes ran very good , new Motobatt batteries in both and the " side stand"
issue erased in my bikes computer. WeŽll see if there is any cruising tomorrow , the US car clubs
here have canceled all shows and cruising because Covid but FB are a good place to spread info fast
Have a nice weekend all and Dan , hope you get the tooth fixed . I think i have more plastic in my mouth
than the natural teeth material

I was planning on taking my car to one of two shows close to me on Sunday, but now I am rethinking it because the temperature is so high. Hope you guys can find a show or cruise to go to. Today was what is shaping up to be a typical Friday. No one is motivated, we snooze through all morning and take lunch, get out at 1 or after. It used to be we knocked out our wheels and were gone by 10.
Beautiful and hot here. Glad the AC works in the dogmobile. Although it will be dark by the time we get to Pensacola so the temps will give us a break a little.
Glenn nice looking bikes. I used to ride, but never really enjoyed it. I traded for a convertible.

I keep the indoor temperature @ 77°F in my home w/ a Trane XL16c Packaged Heat Pump Combination Unit. The biggest benefit in terms of both energy usage & comfort is the efficiency in which it sucks moisture out of the air during the summer months, resulting in a very tolerable/comfortable environment. I also believe in fans to help circulate the air.

Thanks Chris in 2018 we had a very warm july with tempratures up to 35 C ( 95 F ) and this was horrible. Fortunately we got
AC installed in the house before the heat came and we are living close to lakes so we often took a bath. We are not used to such
heat here. Understand if you rethinking to take your car to a show with these temperatures. We donŽt ride our bikes when
temprature is to hot here either. Be careful when riding your bikes also

We have an Mitsubishi LN35 heat pump combination unit , works great. I also belive in fans to move air , in the kitchen
we have an Tirolia wood oven ( ? ) and above this an fan who sucks the warm air and circulates it in the house.

Good trip to the panhandle yesterday. Hit some rain here and there, but otherwise uneventful. This morning it has been raining pretty hard, but looks to be easing up a little. Had I known it was going to do this, I'd have stayed home and came today.
Jamesbo I've got blackberry bushes at my shop but can't tell if they're edible or not. They look good.
Norm I've had two places with heat pumps and hated both of them. The first place was a rental. Even turned all the way up with the heating strips it wouldn't get above 63* in the house. And it was a small house. The second was a place I owned. I just couldn't get comfortable in the winter. How is it a good idea that the colder it gets the less it works? I did have awesome cooling with both units. I wanted gas-fired forced air heat, and this is what my current house has. It's one of those things be careful what you wish for. My gas bill is enormous every month, 90% of it fees and very little for the actual consumption of gas. I need the system where the hot water circulates under the floors. That's a pretty penny to have installed.

Mike - All blackberries are edible. There are no berries which resemble blackberries which are poisonous (e.g. not edible). I have a couple cousins in Zamboni-land who installed heat-tubing in concrete throughout their homes - new construction - with wood flooring overlay. Each have a large hot water boiler. Their energy bills are essentially negligible (for the most part they have no energy bills), but you're correct the initial payout for installation is up there. If I were building a home, I would definitely install that system. Regarding your packaged heat-pump units. I don't Mike, from reading your posts regarding how you heat your home in the winter time, I'm suspect you know the fundamentals of heating a home in cold weather. The walls and interior need to remain as close to possible at a constant temperature. You're spending an A$$LOAD of money turning up your heat every night to get your house warm. You need to leave the furnace, heat pump, whatever it is set to a constant temperature. It takes FAR, FAR, FAR more energy to ramp-up and ramp-down every single day. The German Shepard video you mentioned which James uploaded is great.

Mike, you're right about heat pumps. One of my houses had an old Goettl combo roof-mounted heat/AC unit and when looking into replacing it, the manufacturer's rep told me even though they were a member of the "heat pump coalition" and as such pushed heat pumps, his recommendation was to stay with gas heat as it was so much more efficient. And this was in Phoenix with very mild winters.
FYI they manufacture GAS heat pumps. Extremely efficient & more comfortable than straight electric. Buyers choice. I’d prefer a dual gas/electric but unfortunately we do not have natural gas pipelines in my tiny town along the coast otherwise I’d have opted for the dual. They “said” we were getting natural gas like 8 years ago - still waiting on that one! I’m not going to install another propane tank for a heat pump after I removed the last one. Propane is quite expensive here.
Norm, that would be an auxiliary heater on the heat pump. Very typical in coder climates since the heat pump itself doesn't heat well. My thought is if you're gonna have a gas heater, just go full-on gas furnace as it will heat the house so much better than a heat pump.
Norm, that's not the norm for me turning the heat up at night. Probably was doing that when I was sick. Usually when the wood stove is running the furnace doesn't come on at all. Now that's efficient. I pick the wood up off the ground, and the only thing I pay for is the match to light the fire. I have no doubt there was something wrong with my first heat pump, but I had a shyster land lord and he kept telling me it was fine. My second one I think was just cheap. Actually, I don't mind if it's a little cool in the house at night, my bed is heated and I'm toasty when I sleep.
Speaking of gas, in my first house I had a huge front yard which was an easement for the gas company. Four big gas mains ran past the front of the house, but that house and part of the neighborhood had no gas service. Now on the other side of the lake, where I live now, there is gas service. I find that a little ironic.

Mike - Although I was born in Chicago & extremely familiar with Chicago & the suburbs I was raised in Elgin, IL (you already know this). My parent's back yard butted up against Interstate 90 (North side of our property). This was back in 1961 through 1984 so there was hardly any traffic at all; in fact, I-90 was just then getting two additional lanes (to accommodate two lanes in both the East & West directions - 1962). The end of our back yard (North side) had a large 50' wide easement with a huge underground natural gas pipe. You could never tell anything was buried under there except for the required occasional posting of a WARNING sign stating DO NOT DIG - UNDERGROUND PIPE LINE about every 500' down the fence (East to West to East) bordering the I-90 fence. Mom & Dad planted a row of Honey Suckle hedge along the back of the property line & one of their flower gardens on the remaining 40' W area of the pipe line.

I had a great Father's Day party at my oldest daughter's home this afternoon! An afternoon filled with great food, drink, swimming, and a lot of laughs. My girl's got me a throw blanket with pics of me and the grandkids imprinted on it. My wife got me a new high intensity LED shop light for working under my car which I desperately needed, my old one was on it's last legs.
I had alot of fun horsing around in the pool with my youngest daughter's boys that are in the pics below. My oldest daughter's little boy is just 2 and he still is a little timid around the water, especially without his Dad there. His Dad who is a firefighter/paramedic was on scene at a 3 Alarm fire last Wednesday and was injured when part of a ceiling collaped on him, hurting his back. They are waiting a few days to let the swelling go down and see how he does, and if it isn't getting much better they will do an MRI. So, he was inside out of the heat most of the day resting. Our youngest grandchild, Anna, well she's only 3-months so no pool time for her yet.
I'm still mulling over the possibility of going to the car show tomorrow. Low chance of rain, but the forecasted high is 97. I'm gonna get up early and see how I feel, it's an hour drive out there, and if I go, I'll go early to beat the heat and get a spot near some shade, hopefully!

Mike, Get 2 gallon plastic milk jugs, cut the top out and tie them together with some rope through the handles. Throw the rope over your head so you can carry both on your shoulders leaving both hand free to pick the blackberries, Be sure to wear long sleeves and watch out fer snakes, When you're finished bath with Octagon soap to kill the chiggers.

Very dodgy regarding the weather today - light showers popping up is about all. A bunch of warnings regarding tropical cyclone but there's nothing (really) inside this system any longer. Weather forecasters have all become sensationalists. Still, I won't be laying brick - need a rest.
Jamesbo, my aunt and uncle had the same problem. They grew up on a farm and always had a large garden every where they lived, but the venison-on-the-hoof at one house ate everything in sight. My aunt said the only thing they didnt eat was mint.
Funny, the little clock on my computer says it's after noon, but it's only after 11 here at Mom's. We're going over to my sister's in a little bit for pizza.
Chris sounds like fun swimming and spending time with the family. That will be my afternoon, sans the swimming part. My sister has a beautiful pool, I'm just not one to get in it. The little kids love it. One reason we're going to my sister's. My niece has a big pool at her house but they are getting new floors and the place is all torn up. Hope you get to the car show today.
Norm isn't 90 the road that leads out to the airport? If you look on a map, O'Hare is a little island of Chicago attached by a little line, which is the width of the highway. That's how they got O'Hare to be part of the city. I miss driving through downtown Chicago. Except about once a week I'd go past a car fire. That's about the nastiest smell I can think of. If I saw it in time I'd put up the windows, turn off the air conditioning, whatever, to keep that from getting in the car.
Jamesbo those berries have never been sprayed with any kind of insecticide so they will be in danger of me eating them as soon as I pick them. I'll try to save some.

Mike - Correct, I-90 runs from Seattle, WA to Boston, MA through Elgin, IL & past ORD. A friend of my parent's owned ~100 acres of agricultural land he sold to the City Of Chicago for ORD development (1950s). I obtained my PPL out of DPA.
GCH - Your picture "appears" to be a roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), I believe. Jame's variety is our white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), I believe. I had to zoom James' picture to see it clearly, also.
I have it all here, deer, squirrel, opossum, lots of rabbits (they'll shred a garden), birds galore & racoon. I gave up on an outdoor garden here years ago - I'd need to build a green house garden. The only thing they stay clear of are my Rosemary bushes.
We have gave up a little here to , one of
the worst animals are these , we had to
cut down 11 appletrees because of these.
They ripping the trees apart and leave big
marks in the lawn , sometimes it was 4-5
of them in garden at the same time
and they are very big and has hunted several
people who tried to get them away.

Got up early and decided I would brave the heat and hit the biggest car show in St. Clair, MO about 50-miles away. I got there early, 5th car in line, and got a great place where I could put my lawn chair under a huge shade tree where I had shade all day. There was also a decent breeze blowing all day, so it was bearable even though the temp hit 97.
You will see from the group pics there were 6 very long rows of cars. When they were calling out attendance prizes the highest number I heard drawn was 251, so there were at least that many cars there. I was in what I believe was the toughest class, 1964 -1972 Factory Muscle Cars. There were tons of exceptional cars in my class and others, so I didn't bring home any hardware, but had a great time seeing the other cars, and talking with other owners and spectators! Plenty of MOPAR''s for Mike, and two nice Corvairs in the pics. In fact, MOPAR's dominated my class with a Challenger, a Cuda, and an A-12 SuperBee taking the hardware.

Just got back from the Hot Rod Reunion at Beech Bend Dragway , Bowling Green Kentucky. Also went to the Corvette Museum, Wow remember the sink hole there a couple years ago? Some of the below pics are of those unrepaired cars that fell in the sink hole.... Unbelievable but it did happen! These were perfect rare 'Vettes before the fall.... Look at that seat! Hot Rod Reunion Bleachers are covered, real nice to keep hot sun off you, BUT SO LOUD!!! Burnouts, and the races themselves, We had to buy some ear plugs!
It was a blast!
Chris - Great pictures, thanks for sharing. Maybe one of those chairs with an umbrella or a small canopy might be in order for you when attending shows? I have a 10' x 10' & takes literally minutes to set up.
Greg - I do in fact remember the Corvette Museum sink hole a couple years ago. I had forgotten all about it until you mentioned it. Sounds like you had a great time.
We've had little rain and actually nice mild temperatures associated with the remnants of this tropical system. One more front to move through this evening.
