Johnny - You're right, can't complain too much about that track record. Your car is looking sweet!

Thanks!, not bad for an amateur.
I think I might buy myself a spray gun and do some panel painting Soon.
after I try this Holley carb I bought.
I got an estimate for $7000 another guy for around 5000 probably cost me $800 bucks and a little bit of time to do it myself one piece at a time.

Johnny - That would be some real savings on the painting if you think you have the time, equipment, and skill to get it done to a quality your satisfied with. Guess you have to consider the amount of time your car is going to be out of commission too if you're doing it yourself compared to having a shop do it?

What kind of Holley did you buy, and did you buy a new or rebuilt? When my 67 400ci was rebuilt in 2016 they put a Holley 750cfm Sreet Demon on an Edlebrock Performer intake and it starts well and runs strong and smooth. They contemplated rebuilding the original Qjet but decided against it, they didn't say why. The original Qjet, an extra Qjet, and original intake and exhaust manifolds were saved and came with the sale. I probably won't ever do anything with them, but nice to have in case I decided to sell it and someone wanted to restore it to a more original condition.

Luke, you ran some decent times with H/O. It has a bit of a sleeper appearance to it. Johnnyolds, nice work on the seats. Nice 442.

Hi everyone.

Beautiful out. But I just came in from more mowing and I turned the AC back on, but had to turn it down to around 70 to get it to come on. Eh, it won't have to be on long.

Good day at work. The lead was none too happy about missing the mark yesterday. He said we were within 5 wheels of being done, and noted there were about 20 wheels built and ready for bearings this morning. Apparently the guys forgot to keep working. I was gone by then. Today we finished 135 wheels by noon. These clowns don't understand that upper management sees our work and can tell when we're sandbagging.

After I got home I went to the tag office to transfer the title to the new Cutlass. I didn't even pull in the lot. The line was out the door and the people were dutifully wearing their masks and standing at 6 foot intervals. Outside. Not gonna be part of that nonsense.

Time to fix a bite and then relax. Two more. I asked the lead what to do about Friday, do I leave at noon on Thursday and take Friday off, or leave early Friday. He said he was pretty sure we were going to leave by lunch anyway on Friday and I wouldn't need to take any time off. I hope that works out.

Okay have a good evening everyone. My calendar says it's See You At The Pole Day. I don't know what that means but I hope you all celebrated responsibly.

I played in our 9 hole golf shoot out @ 4:30PM. Shot 36 - three birdies + three bogies. Format is 4-man teams 2 best *****. Fun time.
Upon my return home, an ambulance & fire truck were parked in front of my neighbor George Jr. (91 y.o.) w/ a stretcher at the front door. I purchased my home from their estate. Short story he's OK, heading to hospital. He's rapidly become very frail & fragile over the past two years. He fell/stumbled w/ his walker in the house, cut his face near the eye/forehead so it blood out like a pig (lots of blood vessels on the face) & hurt his neck. Not really time to respond to other threads from y'all - heading to the shower.

Since weather has been so beautiful this week, and most the big projects are done for the summer, I decided to just go over to the barn and piddle around and start cleaning up around the "yard " around it. There is a pile of about 100 cedar fence posts that have been there for a long time. I have a cedar split rail fence that runs along the road so I always planned to use this pile of posts to repair the fence as needed. They are all the "uprights" . Anyway they have been sitting there so long that they're ruined. I have picked maybe 5-6 that maybe could be used out of the pile but most of them are absolutely rotten. The consistency of a kitchen sponge and sopping wet. It's a shame as they were new when left there. (You can tell a used one gets rotted at the soil line). Anyway I started to try to separate what is left and burn them in the fire pit but they require a hot fire to dry out first then they burn like crazy. Oh it's a relaxing day just trimming brush and trees and having a big fire. Yesterday wife came over and we cooked hot dogs over the fire. Simple pleasures...

Tried to find a pic of pile but guess i don't have any.

Good morning guys,

Greg - Your property looks nice. Do you have acreage to play on, I see you have an ATV? My younger brother lived on 75 acres, most of it wooded, with some good sized ponds, near Hastings. I used to come up almost every November to deer hunt with him for 4 or 5 days. Tragically we lost him 6 years ago in a freak pedestrian accident, he was only 51. I miss those days, and miss him even more now, this was supposed to be the time when we'd get to spend more time with each other.

Riding this morning out to Onondaga State Park near Leasburg, MO west of St. Louis. It's an area of natural caverns like Mammoth Cave or Meramec Caverns, but not as big. It's a pretty, rolling, forested area so it should be nice riding. It's supposed to be sunny and high of 72, after the fog burns off. We're starting a little later (0930 CST) because it's only about 52 here right now and my riding buddy is a wimp.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Onondaga Caverns

Nice garage Greg. Plenty of room there. Hmm, I think that there is enough room for those of us on this thread to store our projects.

Neighbor Update:
George, my neighbor was flown to a different hospital last night for surgery of a brain hemorrhage. Upon examination determined it was inoperable surgery - he was on life support. They elected (I do not know details) to remove life support. He remains alive as of 30 minutes ago. His wife and children are by his side. George donated one of his kidneys to his younger sister Shelba ~50 years ago. Shelba died one month ago. A grave side service for Shelba was scheduled for next week. George's episode adds to their family burden. My Mother died of the exact same situation - fallen, inoperable brain hemorrhage, no life support and she survived ~6-7 days.

Chris - Thanks for the empathy and well wishes. Death is a peculiar entity. I've been to Mammoth & Meramac. I used to be an avid spelunker. During my tenure with the NPS (Buffalo National River, AR), I know I've spoken of this previously, I did some cavern & cave mappings for the USGS. I, unlike James, love caves & caverns. Several of my most intriguing have been some S.C.U.B.A. cavern dives in several caverns in FL, and one in particular in AR was a one mile long tube cave. An absolutely perfect cylinder ~6' in diameter with calcite walls. It ran parallel to the surface ~20' below surface. Entrance was via a 4' diameter hole in the surface in which you had to climb down. It had ~6" - 8" of water which continually ran through it and the point at which you entered the cave (where you climbed down) the water sunk into the ground (where the calcite gave away/stopped) - percolating to the surface below. During absolute torrential rainfalls, the water would fill this tube cave and emit itself as an artesian well at the surface. The cave is called Copperhead Cave. Someone uploaded a video to YouTube. The video is a POS! They didn't even go 500' into the cave. The whankers.

Hi everyone.

Rain off and on this evening. Although it's been rain off and on all day. I was able to get out of the shop a couple times today and walk past the roll up door with windows in it, so I knew the earth was still turning.

Speaking of work, my wall guy and I had our number by 10:00. Everyone else followed right behind. We left at 215. I stopped at the tag office on the way home. No one was there, I walked in, went right up to the teller and was on my way a few minutes later. Dan I was transferring title, not renewing, so I had to go in. Usually they give me a story about how the sheriff has to come out and "inspect" the car, to make sure the VIN number matches the paperwork. Apparently they trust cars from South Carolina because this was not necessary today.

Norm that's sure too bad about your neighbor. I hope he isn't in pain.

I have been to both Merremac Caverns and Mammoth Cave, when I was a kid. Took tours with a group of people. One of them, I don't remember which, you had to climb something like 300 stairs up a narrow winding staircase to get out at the end. I don't think I'd go into a cave these days. If I remember right they were pretty massive inside, but as I get older, I get bigger and it's probably the sense that it's easier to get wedged in places that makes me uncomfortable. Plus I've developed sort of a claustrophobia that I can't control. Sometimes I can be in very tight spaces and not think a thing about it, other times I'd be screaming bloody hell. Same with heights. They must be related.

Okay it's bedtime. Dentist tomorrow, they best take care of what I wanted two times ago. I wonder if I found a really sharp knife if I could do this myself. I mean, I have booze, I could drink some, use it as a pain killer, and an antiseptic.

Well have a good night everyone.

Good evening guys,
Dan - Thanks for the response on your place. That's great you have a lot of state land where you can ride ATV's and snowmobiles.

James - Loved the miracle!

Norm and Mike - Cool both of you have been to Meramec Caverns. I took my kids there several times when they were young. Great thing to do when it's 100 degrees out. Norm, there's supposedly a really cool dive in Bonne Terre, Missouri. It's a flooded mine, and it's supposed to be like stepping back in time.to see all the old mining equipment and artifacts down there.

Mike - I hope everything goes well for you at the dentist tomorrow. Third times a charm right!

My ride today was pretty nice, but could have been better, because the weatherman blew the forecast. It was supposed to be sunny and we didn't see a lick of sunshine all day which kept it really, really cool all day. I was borderline cold most.of the day and that took.some of the fun out of it. The roads were nice and very scenic, and I would like to do it again when the weather is nicer. I hope everyone has a great evening.

Good morning guys,
Just got back inside from cleaning my bike after yesterday's ride. Plenty to do today. Need to get out and mow, so I'll probably get out to do that as soon as the grass dries a little more. There's another cruise tonight at that same Sonic Drive-in that I went to last Friday evening. It's the last one they're having there this season so I'd like to go if I can get my chores done. We'll see. Hope everyone has a great day!

Johnny - Thanks for the encouragement, but we already decided we're not going to go tonight. My wife has a refinishing project going on, and I'm not getting things done as quickly as I had hoped. We may just take the car out for a drive later. There is another local cruise going on next Friday, and a couple of shows next Saturday. I'll probably attend one or more of those events regardless of whether my wife wants to go or not. Before we know it the season will be gone, at least in my neck of the woods!

Neighbor Update:
My neighbor George entered the Happy Hunting Grounds last night. I'm certain his quick passing was for the best. RIP George.
Our club Championship is this weekend. I have zero percent chance in hell of placing or winning but it's always an enjoyable event. My tee time tomorrow is 11:18AM.

Hi everyone.

Norm I'm sorry. Prayers to the family.

Made my appointment this afternoon and had the procedure done, was there probably 40 minutes, time for the actual work, about 20 seconds. Mouth actually feels better now that the Novocain is wearing off.

We started out great at work. Had a lot of wheels ready to go, and as the morning wore on the help got worse and worse. We were FIVE away from being done and going home at 11, and the f'ing clowns took lunch. The lead said when we hit the number I could go, I said great, hope it's by noon. I knew I was leaving at noon regardless. We finished at about five till. Idiots.

Don't have much planned for the weekend, I thought I'd be incapacitated. All the instructions I got were for an extracted tooth. I don't need to worry about near all that those entail. Bet I could find something to do if I wanted to.

I am gonna relax this evening and probably watch Seinfeld reruns. Get to sleep in tomorrow, we'll see how long. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Good evening guys,
Got my mowing and chores done, then momma and I took the 442 out for a cruise between 1700 and 1830. It was beautiful out, wished I had a vert, maybe someday if I ever decide to stop riding and give up my bikes!

Big plans to go to the St. Louis Zoo with my girls and grandkids tomorrow. It's been closed most of the summer, but recently reopened and you have to have a reservation time to get in. You can also only stay a maximum of 3-hours, their way of limiting the number of folks. Also, the enclosed structures that house the snakes, reptiles, birds, monkeys, and lemurs are also still closed, only the outdoor attractions are open. It is a pretty incredible zoo, especially when you take into account it's free. I'm sure most of you remember Marlin Perkins of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. He was one of the biggest benefactors and responsible for making the zoo as great as it is. The zoo is located in a huge park on the west side of town named Forest Park and it also contains several other great St. Louis attractions including a St. Louis History Museum, Art Gallery, Botanical Gardens, and a place called the Butterfly House. Hope everyone is having a relaxing evening and has a great weekend.

Norm, my condolences for your loss. Not much planned for this weekend. Got a guy coming tomorrow to take care of some brush, and I may plant some mums for the fall. High on Saturday is supposed to be about 80°, probably the last time this year that it will get that warm. Highs by the end of next week are going to be in the 50's, big change coming.

Chris - Your former director Robert Cardillo is making headline news. I do not want this to become political, I'm only mentioning it because you spend your career working for him.

Norm - Yes, I know, I saw him on the news last night. He's the one that signed my retirement papers and certificate. I also had the former DNI, Lt. General James Clapper, as a Director of my Agency for several years. He was appointed to lead the Agency shortly after 9/11 as we consolidated with the other Intel Agencies under the DNI. Usually those guys/gals that serve as Directors of Agencies like mine only serve 3 or 4 years at the most, so I had several throughout my 35-years. Thanks for pointing it out to me though, I would have looked it up to see what he had to say if I hadn't already heard him last night.

Johnny - Hopefully you'll be turning the corner towards more enjoyable weather very soon. As for many of us, we're starting to turn the corner towards the crappy weather, and having to put our toys away for several months. The older I get the more I hate December thru March. We sure don't have much of a winter here in St. Louis compared to what I grew up with in Michigan, but it's bad enough to make me dread it. I need to have a discussion with momma again about getting a 2nd small place in a warmer climate.

Good morning everyone.

Not hot here, it was 67* when we left for the Awful house a little while ago and feels about the same now. Overcast but doesn't look like rain. I think high of 80 today but it better hurry.

Chris I grew up just south of Chicago. It's funny, I hated winter but I never dreaded it, it came and went and was just a fact of life. A many months long fact of life. I've been in Georgia since 97 and if it gets below 60 I'm cold. The rare times we get snow, it's usually accompanied by a lot of ice, and I stay home. I want to move to LA (lower Alabama) but still need to find work. Tiger likes to eat once in a while. Have a good time at the zoo. Haven't been to one in years.

So when I got home from the dentist yesterday the shifter felt funny going into park. The car still rolled forward. Went to reverse and the car went backwards, and that was it. Stuck in reverse no matter the shifter position. Turned off the car and you guessed it, wouldn't start again. So what could I do? Left it in Park and set the brake. I'm hoping it's something as simple as something came loose and all I have to do is reconnect it. I'm guessing it won't be.

Okay have a good Saturday everyone. Lots to do but nothing to stress over.
