Jim - That's a delicious sauce. I considered that sauce last night & almost opted for it instead. No party, Harris-Teeter had fresh wild caught Sockeye on sale ($8.99/lb). I bought three decent sized pieces & cooked extra for the week.

Good morning guys,
Sunny and cool this morning at 35°F. Predicting snow tonight starting around midnight and going thru mid-day tomorrow, totalling 3 to 6-inches. I'll believe it when I see it.

Off to eye appointments for both of us at 1030. May run into Walmart and/or Lowes while we're out because both are very close to the eye office. Otherwise, no big plans for today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning everyone.

We must be doing well this morning because we had an hour for lunch. I don't mind, I watch Highway Patrol on youtube so today I could watch two of them.

Haven't been past the rollup door in awhile, don't know what it's doing out. Supposed to be windy and lots of rain tonight. I gotta tell you, I don't care for either one of them. Nice the rest of the week I think.

Not much new. It's cold out but if the sun is out I'll start putting plugs in the car. The front three will be easy, the back three look like a pain. Eh, what would wrenching be if it were easy.

Have a good afternoon everyone. Afternoon starts for me in about 10 minutes.

It's kinda cold here, 34º in Phoenix but much colder up the hill. A co-worker shared the pic below this morning. Brrrrr.

I hear this storm is supposed to wreak havoc when it hits the Gulf states area.

That's more snow than we've seen all season here in my area of Michigan (just south of Flint). Barely any snow on the ground at all, as the sun came out today and melted the light dusting from the other day. I've had to be cautious about parking my truck off the cement so my wife can get past to park in the garage, now that the Starfire's gone. Don't want to put a bunch of ruts in the lawn, even though I plan to finally extend the driveway this spring.

Made it through the Catholic funeral service yesterday, just as long winded as a Catholic wedding. Sock-eye salmon, my mom loved it, and frequently talked about catching them when they lived in Alaska. Made an appointment with a chiropractor today, for next week. Haven't been to one in 20 years, but my back is just killing me, so maybe worth a shot.

Kenneth - Thats more snow than we've seen here all Winter too! Where exactly is that, it's got to be up at a pretty high elevation!

Dan - Hope you can get some relief from the back pain, that's never any fun! It's just the $hits getting older isn't it!

Trending in a positive direction. Rebuilt the entire double-hung (x2) single window sill (pressure treated), had to rebuild the window casement frame (of the exterior wall) below the window (pressure treated), installed new exterior casement panels (#2 center-cut yellow pine) & new exterior siding (#2 center-cut yellow pine). Rebuilding/Installing new interior casement panels is next.

Jim - You're a great influence. Think I'll whip up a brown sugar/butter and wine sauce/topping for this evening's salmon. I believe x3 raspberry shortcakes is one too many - think I'll stick w/ x2.

Our eye appointments went fine, no significant changes for either of us.

Great Northern White Beans with Ham and Bacon tonight. Heavier on the Ham than Bacon. Of course there will be a big pan of Cornbread to go with it!

In the past 23 years I've resided on the coast of North Carolina it has snowed three times, IIRC. Far, far more hurricanes than snowfall.
The Atlanta boys are going to get pummeled in the wee early morning hours. It will be brief (several hours) but it will be a beating.
I haven't been to a chiropractor in many years - I hope that works out. I get extremely good results visiting a massage therapist. Massage therapy is very therapeutic.
I have visions of raspberry + fresh whipped cream shortcakes in the not-too-distant future.

Norm - I was completely surprised when you originally posted those were Raspberries. I would have bet a paycheck they were Blackberries just by looking at them, they're so dark.

The Bacon actually adds more flavor than the Ham I think, giving the beans a slightly smoked flavor. She fries the Bacon first, getting it good and crispy. Then she let's it cool and chops it into Bacon bits before adding it.

Now I know why Kenneths picture has all that snow in it. That Mormon Lake Lodge in the pic is up near Flagstaff and sits at an elevation of 7,146-feet!

Yeah, Mormon Lake is at 7000 feet, similar to Flagstaff. Actually the entire Mogollon Rim from Flag to Show Low is at that elevation, and all of that area got significant snowfall. This front pushed the snow level down to 3000 feet, so a LOT of places got buried. All of the highways up north were shut down for a few days due to the deep snow.

Nice job Norm. I like the way you do things. You do it right. Looks good! I got the calipers and all 3 new brake hoses on Olds. Now I need help to bleed them. I started stripping the 2 worse wheels. I'm still looking at the responses on the wheel thread, I'll update it when I decide.

Good morning everyone.

I think the Greater Stockbridge Area missed the big rain today. It was raining a little when Tiger wanted to go out at 230, and was misting when I was driving to work. Now that I'm in the bunker I have no clue what it's doing out, except the little legend at the bottom of my computer says rain off and on. It's all supposed to be out of the area by 9 or 10 anyway.

Norm the window looks good. Are the other ones to follow or is this one more exposed to the elements?

Kenneth that seems funny, snow in Arizona. Those picture just make me twitch. We haven't had any accumulation in many years. When it snows that much I stay home.

Okay almost break. Don't want to miss that. Hope eveyone has a good Hump Day.

33° F and light snow right now at 0900. Probably got about 2 to 3-inches overnight and we're supposed to continue to get light snow through noon. The plowed and treated road in the subdivision is just wet.

Jim - Thanks. Rain/Thunderstorms should be in our area in a couple hours - I need to look @ radar.
Mike - Thanks. These windows are SW-facing side of house. Thus far it's the only one requiring a complete rebuild. I'm certain all the others could use a rebuild but they're not nearly this bad.

Norm, ya got skills, the exterior work on your house looks outstanding. When I was on my companies benefits page looking for a local chiropractor in our plan, I saw that massage therapy is covered as well. I will see how the visit to the chiropractor goes (a couple of visits perhaps), and may consider massage therapy. There's always acupuncture, covered as well. Chris, your backyard looks like mine does after that system hit here today.

Oh, and by the way, damn lake effect cloud cover, means that I won't have a chance to get a pic of the comet in the northern sky. This one comes around every 50,000 years, and frankly, I don't want to wait that long for another chance.

Chris - Thanks. Good luck w/ your back. I read the comet will be w/in visibility from Earth until Feb. 5th. A guy at Cincinnati Observatory required a two hour exposure to capture an image.

I looked online yesterday and the comet is supposed to pass quite high (near Polaris) in early February. It's too low on the horizon for me to see it now.

https://www.space.com/comet-c2022-e3...e-january-2023
On the evening of Feb. 1, when C/2022 E3 (ZTF) is passing closest to Earth, it will be within the boundaries of the vague and dim constellation of Camelopardalis. By Feb. 5, it will pass within a couple of degrees to the west of the brilliant yellow-white star Capella and the next night it will be within the triangle that makes up "The Kids" asterism in Auriga and will be located almost directly overhead at around 8 p.m. local standard time.

I set up the telescope last night to see if Saturn was still adjacent to Venus, but it had moved away enough they weren't both in view with my wide angle lens. Boo.
But there was a cool sight - Saturn, Venus, the Moon, and Jupiter were all in a straight line across the sky. I managed to get some good pics of the moon and some poor pics of Jupiter.

Good evening guys,

At least half of our snow is already gone. It was about 5° above freezing all day, with a fair amount of sunshine. My driveway faces south and got what sunshine we had all day, and it is now completely clear. My neighbor across the street who jointly owns the snow blower we bought together used it on his driveway which gets very little sunshine. I cleared our deck and the steps down from the deck so the dogs could go down to the back safely.

Other than the minor amount of snow removal, I didn't do a whole heck of alot, just a few bills and some record keeping.

Hope ya'll had a great day!

I saw Haley's comet when I was in high school. My girlfriend's parents drove us way out in the country to see it because the city lights were too bright.

Kenneth those are some pretty detailed pictures of the moon. Almost like we could go visit it. I think it would be cool to go to the moon, but I can't get past the notion that I'd be out of God's jurisdiction. Even when I got back He might be mad that I left. Wasn't there some guy who volunteered to go to Mars a couple years ago?

Chris what is that on your deck with the glass box on top? Did you kick the croup that you had before?

Mike - That is a large, propane fueled fire pit with a weather cover on it. The glass box on top is a wind shield to keep any breeze from blowing the flames towards anyone sitting close to it. It was blue crystal rocks in the area of the burner on top and is very pretty when it's lit. It also puts out a significant amount of heat, making it comfortable to sit out there in the early Spring/late Fall. I will take a pic and post it the next time we have it fired up.

Norm - I can see why you'd say that from that picture, with the exception of the two story directly behind where the stairs go down. Actually there are probably 10 to 12 different styles of homes in here from 4 different builders. Mine was one of the earliest in here, built in 2006. I think there is a total of about 135 lots, and only 5 or 6 left to build on. Four of those left are directly behind me.
