It was. I am not a great cook, so it was just box salad and cheese and steak.

In my book, a good steak is a meal unto itself!

Gorgeous weather - 56°F, light breeze @ 5mph. Hoping to knock out some significant work reassembling the window casements, reinstalling the windows, caulking & painting.

[QUOTE=Fun71;1476327]I set up the telescope last night to see if Saturn was still adjacent to Venus, but it had moved away enough they weren't both in view with my wide angle lens. Boo.
But there was a cool sight - Saturn, Venus, the Moon, and Jupiter were all in a straight line across the sky. I managed to get some good pics of the moon and some poor pics of Jupiter.

Cool Pictures Kenneth
Have you ever sourced this web site, I think it is one of the best I have been on.https://stellarium-web.org/

Thanks for that link. I use a program on my phone called Sky View that is similar.

My telescope also has a database so it will identify what it's pointed at, and also will point at what I pick out of the database.

Let's see, made breakfast, did a load of laundry, and fixed the vaccum cleaner. Living the good life I tell ya! I have been unduly influenced to cook a steak for dinner. No idea where that came from.

Keith - That site is awesome.

My parents asked what I wanted for a grade school graduation present (1966). I asked for a telescope and they bought one for me. I was ecstatic - I loved learning with that scope.

I thought it was interesting it was discovered by an amateur star gazer and not noticed by some defense system operation services our hard earned tax dollars are allocated to keep us in the know and safe from potential "Incoming" WTFarttz

I heard the same NPR broadcast a couple days ago - I then looked it up. Pretty amazing an amateur observer made the discovery.

It's been so long ago, I can't recall what (if any) differences there were between an Omega, a Ventura & a Nova. I had a (blue) 1973 Nova for a year when I began college.

Hi everyone.

Beautiful day here. Probably hit 60, nice and sunny. And now back to rain.

Got up early and went to Awful house. Saw my friend who's been absent for awhile. He had an ulcer rupture and had to have surgery. Spent a long time recovering. Then I went over to my airport and kibitzed with a few guys. Then went to the junkyard. Boy that place really takes it out of me these days. Then went over to the shop and put the covers back on all the cars and scrounged around in the stuff in the hangar. I tell you I'm beat tonight.

Chris I think the deal with the VP was that someone said he would be out in the hangar at some point, and our lead who thinks he's fooled everyone said he was coming to see us. When he didn't come he said nothing, as if there was never any mention at all. I got news for him, he hasn't fooled anyone.

My neighbor gave me a telescope and I've never used it. He bought it and used it once, then it just sat. He asked me if I wanted it and I don't know why I said yes. It's fairly large but isn't real fancy like Kenneth's.

Well Walmart tomorrow and I think that's about it. Don't think anything big is going on next week. That's okay.

Okay, no MASH so tonight is an Emergency! marathon. What fun. Instead of helping people it should just be the fire trucks driving around.

Have a good evening everyone.

Norm I think the only difference between those cars is the name on the door. Even the names are the same. Nove Omega Venture Apollo.

I think every Nova-type I saw driving in the 70s and 80s were dog tracking. Pretty hard on tires.

Speaking of dog tracking - we've all seen this on some cars cruising down the highway(s). I recall once seeing a car so badly dog tracking it was literally pointing ~15° to the right riding straight down the road - really, really bizarre.

Well actually Omega did have a 350 Olds engine, Ventura had a 350 Pontiac, Apollo had a 350 Buick, and Nova had a 307 or 350 Chevy. But if outfitted with a 6 they all had a Chebby 250. I'm talking about 70-maybe 75? Then they coulda had just about anything- Buick 231 V6, Olds 260, Chebby 350 or 305 on and on. You know how the late 70's were with GM engines.... But all the suspension etc was the same- Small differences in grills bumpers lights maybe.... The Omega I had was originally a Olds 350, but it had been yanked out. I saw a rusty Olds 88 for sale and bought it for I think 75.00. It had a 69 Toronado 455 swapped in it. I put that Toro 455 in the Omega with a Turbo 350. It all fit but had to shim the motor mounts a little. Steering shaft and left exhaust manifold were still really tight. But what a powerful car. Ahh good memories!!

Every once in a while you will see a pickup truck dog tracking now a days. But yeah the old Nova's and Mopars with leaf spring would dog track if the locating pin broke and rear end shifted. You don't see it much in cars now cuz almost nothing uses leaves in rear 'cept trucks, Suburbans, etc.

The '73 Nova I owned had a six 250. Great gas mileage back then. Sorta funny story. I towed (U-Haul bumper hitch) the Nova from Elgin, IL down to Urbana-Champaign, IL with my '72 4-4-2.

You ever notice that the first letter of each of the division vehicles reads NOVA?
Nova
Omega
Ventura
Apollo

Also, I heard back in the 70s-80s that the NOVA didn't sell well in the Spanish speaking countries because NOVA translates to No Go.

Mike, set it up and point it at the moon. It's one of the most visible and interesting things in the sky and the details you see with even moderate magnification are incredible.

Or, maybe the GM Executive in charge of marketing at the time was a closet Drag Queen and it read AVON!

I "generally" agree with most of what I read on Snopes.
Did the Chevrolet Nova Fail to Sell in Spanish-Speaking Countries?

Well we didn't have Snopes back in the 70s-80s to let us know the things we were told were true or not.

I think the 78-84 or so was the worse time for cars- they all sucked. Mom bought a brand new 78 Omega w/231 V6 it would hardly run a real POS!!. WE got 3-4 inches of white stuff this morn. Looks really pretty.

Jim - My next break from the window(s) work, I have several ***** I've found on the course & I'll bang a couple into the empty 10 acres behind my house in tribute of your friend.

Low & behold - window(s) casement panels reassembled, finished caulking everything ('til the wee hour of 1:00am) and I'm into painting stage. Woo Hoo....Woo Hoo, baby. Only 64°F w/ 4mph wind...I'll get over it.

Hi everyone.

Just got back from Walmart. That place is going to give me an ulcer. Nice out but overcast. The rain comes tonight.

Yes Kenneth I had heard that before.

That's too bad about your golf partner, Jamesbo. Hasn't he been sick for awhile? Is this the guy who lost his wife a few years ago? May he rest easy.

Back in the 70s did anyone ever complain about the 250 Chevy being in an Oldsmobile? I know people had a holy hemorrhage about the V8s. Did Olds call it something different, like the 6 cylinder Rockette, or something?

I got some compound at the store today to patch up a place in Mom's shower. The ceiling has been staining for awhile, and after a big rain a few weeks ago the plaster started falling. Got the leak in the roof fixed so now I'm gonna try to make the ceiling blend in a little. I don't have the stipple thing that makes the star design, eh, it's only the shower.

Okay lunch is done. Have a good afternoon everyone.

Jim - Done w/ primer painting on the windows. Going to smack a couple.
QUESTION: What's your buddy's shot? Power Fade, Early Draw, Late Draw, Snap Hook, Launch Angle - Shallow, Lofty, Low?

EDIT: Almost forgot. How about straight up the middle?

Mike - The stipple effect can be delivered using a paint brush by tapping the ends of the bristles.
