Good morning everyone.

Had a nice visit with my friends and the transmission installation was a success. My friend doesn't see so good these days so I got to be the pilot on the test run. It's been a long time since I drove anything that could bark second(and third).

Nice this morning. Got in late so I slept in. Don't know if I want to go to the grocery store before I get Tiger or not. I literally don't have any food in the house but I don't want a bunch of stuff sitting around when I go to my Mom's on Thursday for several days. We'll see. I'll be glad to see Tiger this afternoon.

Okay got some things to catch up on and I'll check back in later. Hope you guys all had a good weekend.

Weird Norm, the video link doesn't show up on my end. Deam67 that was the same storm system that came through Michigan. South of me got the brunt of it.

1969w3155 - The power company's estimate for restoring our power was pretty much spot on. They had estimated 1130 and it came back at 1122. We are so glad to have the A/C back, and we think our frozen food made it through ok.

Hey, I grew up in Battle Creek and lived there until I got out of college in 1983. Most of my relatives on both sides still live in the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo areas. Just curious what part of Michigan you're from if you don't mind disclosing? I also ended up buying my Olds up there in Warren over by Detroit and had it trailered down here. Always good to meet another Michigander!

Dream67, it's listed in my Avatar, Muskegon. You need to come back up here and visit the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners. They currently have a musclecar display, and will be building a musclecar museum there as well.

Good Morning Everone!

1969w3155 - Thanks for the reply. It is pretty over on the lake. There are a lot of things I miss about Michigan, my family and summers to name a couple. Despite the very warm summers here in St. Louis, for someone who loves motorsports, I'll take the St. Louis weather over Michigan. The nice weather is so much longer, and the winters (if you can call them that) are so much shorter. I'll definitely have to check out the Gilmore Museum next time I'm up there. Thanks for the tip.

Our bulldog Maggie has to go back for her recheck on her surgery this morning at 1115 and we're hoping for a good report. This has already been a long week! Momma is the primary caregiver, so they fight over her attention. Hope everyone has a great day!

Spent the afternoon at work. Lead texted and said we're going back to 40 hours next week. But since we were in the middle of a pay period, again, we'd have to work Saturday. He said if we came in today we could work Poad to put towards it, he was going to be there as well and we'd talk about it. Well, he left early and didn't say a word. I'm not going to be there Saturday, I don't care what he does. I spent half the afternoon in inspection. When the other guy saw me come in he suddenly developed some malady and had to go home. Eh, I could have expected that. I should have taken the package that's all I can say.

Dream how'd we do at the vet this morning? My neighbor had an American Eskimo (?), little white dog looked like a mini husky, curly tail. He would run to the fence and be vicious when my dogs were out. One time he ripped a toe nail out on the chain link, the vet said it would grow back. Don't know if it ever did.

Dan that's a lot of rain. Won't be a dry basement anywhere for awhile.

So I have a lot of stuff to get together tonight for my trip tomorrow. Gotta leave fairly early because I need to be at my Mom's by 3pm. Was planning on staying through Tuesday but now I'm leaving Sunday. Work just sucks sometimes.

Okay well have a good evening everyone. Nice out here, but it's been raining.

Slantflat - The vet said she was healing up great. She still has to wear her bandages until Saturday and then we can take them off. Actually she's starting to act more like her normal playful self. The vet said the nail usually grows back, but not always. Thanks for asking.

Jamesbo - Just want make sure you know I was just kidding around, never thought for a second you'd make that kind of comment (in public), Haha!

I'm with Vintage Chief, never seen so much damn rain in August. Usually everything's burnt up, but everything's green as a gourd. It's nuts!!!

Everyone have a good evening!

Actually my comment was complete satire. We haven't had any rain in weeks and it's been 90°+ every day.

Its been a fine week here, just a little rain. I found and fixed a hole in the roof of my garage, but otherwise its been pretty dull around here, and I'm ok with that.

Have a great day fellas.

Goodmorning all!
In response to "curvewrecker", I'm glad you're having a good week! Between the injury to our pup, two trips to the vet, the storm and power outage, and never ending rain, it has been a little hectic and trying here in St. Louis. I sincerely appreciate the kind words and encouragement from so many of you. Often, just a few kind words make all the difference in making a tough day/s better!

On the bright side, it looks like by Saturday we will finally get out of this extremely wet weather pattern we've been in. On Saturday evening there is a car cruise about 40-miles south of us in the historic river town of Ste. Genevieve, MO. It's a pretty little town and a pretty drive, so I'm thinking of driving my 442 down there. Also, I ride with the St. Louis Indian Motorcycle Club and they are sponsoring a ride on Sunday up to the historic river town of Hannibal, MO, which is the birthplace of Mark Twain. It's an all day ride, but very scenic with much of it along the famous Illinois River Road. I may try to make that event too depending on how things go around here the next couple days and if the weather forecast holds. Anyway, finally a couple of fun events to look forward to! Hope you guys are having a great week and looking forward to the weekend too!

Unfortunately, when I bought this old house in 1976, I din't listen to a friend who said, "I'd cut down those wild cherry trees". Now of course they are enormous and I got 6 I want gone. All too close to the house for amateurs

But I too cheep to pay $1,000.00 a tree.

Anyone got any bright ideas?

Have a great day Olds friends

Good morning Olds Friends,

Jamesbo - Sorry bud, I got nothin for ya??? Reputable tree service around our neck of the woods is not cheap either.

More rain in the forecast again today for us in St. Louis, then finally a break forecasted over the weekend and next week. I really hope they're right, I need to get out of this house, and get out for a drive in my car and a ride on my bike.

Everyone have a great weekend!

Yeah - My tree removal service charges me $750/tree (65' height), which includes complete removal, stump grinding & site cleanup.

Hi everyone.

Rain off and on all day so not much will get done. Had a nice ride down yesterday, except the AC stopped working about half way. Tiger was not happy and I was furious. I just paid 120 to have it charged.

Jamesbo those must be some pretty big cherry trees if they are 1000 apiece. Didn't you just get a new chain saw? Have at it. Be sure to notch the correct side.

Guess we'll just hang out this afternoon, Mom is cooking things so I'll be the taster. Hope everyone is doing well.

Mike, What I;m really doing is adding up the potential repair cost to fix whatever it falls on "if I miscalculate

Car Parts Coming - Yeah!

Hey guys, got some good news. The Acorn Bulge lug nuts for steel wheels that I ordered from JEGS and have been on back order for a month are finally supposed to arrive today. My car currently has 235 55r 17 tires on REV polished aluminum torque thrust style wheels. To sweeten the sale the owner threw in a complete set of like new BF Goodrich TA 235 60r 15 tires and matching like new SS1 wheels (1st pic). However, he didn't give me a set of the correct lug nuts for the wheels, therefore the lug nuts arriving today. Attaching a couple pics of the car with each set of tires/wheels and I'm interested in you guys opinions on which set looks best?

Bunser - Thanks for weighing in, much appreciated. I'm going to wait until hopefully several others weigh in, and then I'll let everyone know what I'm thinking. I've never seen the car with the SS1's on it in person, just the pic I posted.

I’ll chime in WTH.

The wheels in the first image look like Cragar Suoer Sport wheels - which I happen to like. Unfortunately what makes my decision more difficult is the fact you have black walls on the Cragars and raised letter on the SSI’s. Raised letter versus black wall makes a large difference in appearance, IMO. Unless I can compare apples to apples, I’m going to reserve comment because I believe you aren’t comparing apples to apples.

I’ll say this, as they both stand - the Cragars provide a more sporty appearance than the SSI’s.

VC, Slantflat, and Bunser - Thanks a bunch for weighing in guys! I'm still hoping a few others will weigh in with opinions, but here's where I'm currently at in my decision process. Like VC, I think the "Cragar like" REV polished aluminum wheels look sportier than the SS1's. However, the 235 55r 17 tires on those wheels are what I feel are the absolute tallest tire that can be put on the car. With those tires, I have to be really careful with the wheels turned all the way not to hit any significant bumps because they can rub at the back of the front wheel wells. The last thing I want is to mess up my sheet metal. I have looked for raised white letter tires in that size to go on those wheels, but I can't find a manufacturer that makes them.

The SS1's have the raised white letter tires that I think are much sharper than the black walls. The SS1's have 235 60r 15 tires that are an inch shorter in diameter than the 17's, and I don't think I'd have the worry about rubbing anymore. Right now I'm leaning towards trying out the SS1's, if for no other reason than to see if there is a difference in the quality of the ride, and to eliminate the worry of messing up my wheel wells. Meanwhile, I will search some more to see if I can find a manufacturer that makes a 235 r55 17 tire with raised white letters. I also might be able to trade the 17" aluminum set for some 15"s in the same type of style. Decisions, decisions!
