Hi everyone.

Nice out now, but rain off and on all afternoon. Hot and muggy out.

CW how'd you do at work today? Good on ya for stepping up. Hope the boss showed leniency. In my shop there is no accountability. Everything has a name on it, who did it, who signed it, but if there's something wrong, nothing ever happens. A lead or someone will say, oh this happened so let's watch what we're doing. Not, Bill screwed this up and is getting time off, John did this and has to stay after to fix it. Nope, no one cares because everyone knows nothing will happen. The few of us who are professionals try not to screw up, though.

Went to Harbor Fright to get a 12000# winch. Yes I know what they are all about, but I figure a 12K winch should be good for about half that, and I don't plan on winching anything heavier than that. Well guess what. They were sold out. She said there was one in Griffin. I have no idea where the one in Griffin is, and I wasn't about to get back into the traffic I suffered through to get to the one I was at, so I took back roads home and I'll check out the one in Fayetteville tomorrow on the way home from work. They are supposed to have one as well, but I have a feeling that between 3 this afternoon and noon tomorrow it, too, will be gone. I sure hope not, I really need this thing this weekend. Eh...

Had some things that really needed to be burned, so I started up the stove. Got a fire going that rivals anything I can do in the winter. Turned the ceiling fan on so the AC doesn't think it's a zombie apocalypse in here, and it should be burned out by bedtime.

Bedtime? Time to start winding down. Tomorrow is the last workday of the week for me, I've already alerted my wall guys that I really sorta need to get out before 11. They made some wise remarks, but I will remind them I am the final say-so to what they produce, and if they don't want me to go all apeshit on my inspection(that's an industry term) they'll accommodate me just this once.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Welcome back Johnny, I saw your thread about the top switch, but I've never taken one out. Is your relay ok? I bought a extra top switch for my Cutlass years back as I also had a Vista Cruiser, which uses the same switch for the rear window as the top switch. I'm sure someone will pipe up who has replaced one. Do you have the Fisher Body manual and shop manual for the car? Those along with a assembly manual are priceless.
-- Well all is good here, had some thunderstorms go thru yesterday. Played Sanford and Son Tuesday. Only no Son, only grumpy old Sanford (me). Borrowed a 6x10 trailer from my buddy and loaded about 50 2x10 sheets of old roofing tin, a steel door, pipes, broken lamps, copper wire, brass fittings, aluminum siding, on and on and took to the salvage/recycle yard. It was quite a site. I had to go thru the scales numerous times removing each category of scrap each time and getting reweighed each time. Ended up getting about $173.00 for it all. But the best part is having it gone. I think from now on I will just put old scraps of steel, brake rotors or whatever out front with a free sign on it. It's a big hassle to take in for a old man. Ok well have a good one guys!!

Hi Johnny, I'm looking forward to seeing your new project flesh out.

As for my goof-up, the boss took it in stride, we worked together on a plan to fix things, and he told me to ask for help in the future if I wasn't sure about something. I like my job, I like my company, and I like my boss.

Have a great morning my Oldsmobile friends.

Hi everyone.

Good day at work. Another guy helped out with the signing and we got out around 1030. I headed to Harbor Fright and found the winch I wanted. Man is that sucker heavy. So that's what I'm doing this afternoon, putting it on the trailer.

Jamesbo I have lights on my riding mower and I've tried mowing at night, those lights are pitiful.

Johnny that looks like quite a project. Will be nice when it's done. If it runs and drives okay now that's half the battle.

Beautiful here. Fairly hot but not humid. That's a rarity for Atlanta. Will help a lot because where the trailer is sitting there isn't any shade.

So I need to talk with my Dr's nurse and I've been holding for 20 minutes. I've heard the hold thing reset about 20 times. I'm guessing neither my doctor or the nurse are there today and I'll be holding until next week. Nope. Gonna give it about one more reset and that's it. Next week I go into the office myself and remind them why it was better when a real person answered the phone.

Okay! After the trailer is done I hit the road for Connecticut. I won't be far from Wayne Carrini's place, maybe I'll stop by after loading up for a photo op. Man I'm not looking forward to this trip. But, my tow truck guy hung me out to dry so this is my only other choice. The car needs to be picked up tomorrow and this guy has blown me off for two weeks. Can't get another outfit with one day's notice. Tiger is already in jail. No way I wanted him to go on this long of a trip.

Okay the hold thing keeps resetting and I've had it. Hope everyone has a good weekend and I'll be back with you hopefully by Sunday.

Jamesbo, Blazing Saddles does offend people, but those people tend to ignore that the film is making fun of white people while teaching a lesson about not being dumb white racist hicks. It might also help that Richard Pryor was one of the lead writers. If you don't already have a copy of BS on DVD you should buy one before the censors get hold of it and ruin it completely.

My goof up at work turns out to be related to a suspected bad batch of hardware, and not entirely my fault. That makes me feel better.

TGIF and seize the day guys.

Good morning everyone.

Guess what didn't leave for Connecticut. Started in on installing the winch and it would have taken me hours. And as usual I started overthinking everything and decided I just didn't want to make that trip. The guy selling the car thought I was crazy for planning it anyway. So as it stands I'm going to have it picked up next week some time and stored in New Jersey for a couple weeks until that one guy can haul it down here for me. It will probably cost less than me putting gas in my truck for 1800 miles.

Jamesbo the people who are "offended" probably never heard of Blazing Saddles. Plus it's funny. Attacking GWTW is a good way to hurt people and that's what it's all about.

Quiet evening without Tiger. I'll run around and do stuff today and pick him up this afternoon. I took Monday off, thinking I'd need an extra day to decompress. So now it's an extra day off. Yay.

Okay gonna hit the Awful house and then find something to do. Have a good day everyone.

The censorship of movies makes no sense. If you were trying to impose that way of life today, it would be understandable, but that was depicting what it was like at that time, whether we are comfortable with it or not. Django was criticized by many when it was released, but it, like Blazing Saddles was going after the racism of the era, but a lot more graphic in attempt to put what happened back then, in our face.

A little late for breaktime but so what, I've been working hard. Cleared out a lot of brush and small trees over at the shop. Made lots more room for parking. I guess that means I gotta buy something.

Question for the masses. I've got a giant cover over a G20 parts van. It's a heavy vinyl and it's been on there for years. But the stitching is coming apart that holds the panels together. I don't want to get rid of the cover because IF you can find one they are very expensive. I got this one from craigslist used. Anyway, what can I use to sew the seams back together and get a couple more years out of it? I tried tape and it came right off. .020 stainless steel safety wire?

Ya I don't get censoring 100 year old stuff. Some library I heard took Little House On The Prairie off the shelf because Laura Ingalls Wilder had said something "uncomfortable" about Indians. Acceptable for the time, but someone got their knickers in a bunch and that was that. You know you got problems when Little House On The Prairie is offensive...

Okay see ya.

By the way, they are bringing back the Looney Tunes, new ones, and Elmer Fudd will no longer be carrying a gun when he pursues Bugs Bunny. He will instead be wielding a scythe....no ****! So, rather than try and shoot ole bugs, he's going to bi-sect him!

Good morning everyone.

Beautiful day today. Think I might work on cars.

Is the Looney Toons being brought back by Warner Brothers or someone different? Are they still going to show the old ones or have they been banned? How stupid. Next is Road Runner.

Awful house was fairly quiet for a Saturday morning. They still have half the tables blocked off and only two seats at the counter. All the staff have face masks on but they are either down around their necks or they take them off when they talk. Good thing they have them though.

Well time to do something. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Looks like a solid foundation, Johnny. Keep us updated with pics.

I agree today will be a fine day to work on cars. I am going to replace an exhaust manifold gasket and some other minor Toronado details. I've been procrastinating and today seems like the right time.

If there is still daylight left when I'm done, I might go to the shooting range, or maybe go fishing, IDK.

Have an awesome day, guys.

Having a great day. I ripped all the electronics out of my Squier Stratocaster and replaced them with Fender Tex Mex pickups, Custom Potentiometers, and a Fender five way switch. It sounds like a much more expensive guitar now, and I got all the soldering done right the first time!

Now I'm going to take pictures of my 1977 Chevy Impala sedan and hopefully post it on ebay. If it doesn't sell by Independence day I'm dragging it to the scrap yard.

My only electric is a 1987 original American Fender Stratocaster. I wired up (30 years ago) a Dimarzio S Strat Humbucker at the bridge & a Fender Lace Single Coil at the neck. Two years ago I removed all the hardware, installed new bridge saddles, new tremolo bridge springs, new tone/treble pods, refinished the neck & harmonically tuned the saddles to the neck. I run it through my 1980 Mesa Boogie Mark II-B 100/60 Simulcast. I run my acoustic guitars through the Orange.

Good morning everyone.

Just got home. When did I leave? Yesterday morning. Long story short, New York sucks. And I didn't even go there! Well, after worrying about Tiger all night I got home and he's fine.

No extra Jeeps Jamesbo. At one time I thought about a GPW or ****** MB as a daily driver. Found out they have gears that limit them to 50mph. That would take a long time to get to work. I had a CUCV once and took it to work, I didn't think I'd ever get there.

Curvewrecker what's wrong with the Impala? Doesn't look all rusted up. Put Metro Police on the side and you have a Hill Street Blues car.

Okay gotta get to it. Good thing I took the day off work. They sort of frown upon calling in because you're stuck out of town. Have a good day everyone.

Sorry that had to happen to you, Johnny. at least it didn't look like your rim was damaged.

The Impala.... Where to begin. I bought it before I bought my Toronado. I pulled the worn out 305 and transmission and replaced them with an Olds 350 and a TH400. Last summer I blew the 350 Rocket up. I pulled it and purchased a used 1977 403 out of a Toronado. I haven't installed the 403, the impala sits without a motor. I was planning to build a Hazzard County Patrol car out of it. I have a set of Hazzard County Sheriff's Department decals. Everything works except the AC, even the glove box light. Its actually a pretty nice car. I repaired the missing floorboards with sheet metal I bent myself, so it has a floor again. I've bondoed the body in an amateur manor, but the white paint hides my sins.

Since I bought my Toronado I've lost all interest in the patrol car project. The red and blue lights are vintage 1970s made by Smith and Wesson. I'm planning to pull the TH400 and sell it as a rolling chassis. Good tires and brakes, all the lights work, no broken glass except the cracked windshield. The interior is actually decent, except the headliner is missing. I'm keeping my red and blue lights unless someone wants to buy them separately.

Should I get over my procrastination and install the 403? Or sell it to a chevy guy who will probBLY put in a SBC? I think I'll pull the trans and save it for my next project, a 425/TH400 build to power my 1927 Ford Roadster project. Decisions, decisions.

I'd sell the rolling chassis to anyone who would be interested in making road worthy again, but I don't have room for two cars in my driveway or in my life. I'll choose a rust free 66 Toronado over a bondo buggy Impala sedan any day.

Advice, suggestions, and even criticism are all welcomed.

Jamesbo we had a flat rock rainstorm this afternoon but no hail. It's nice out now.

Johnny there are better tires for less money. I myself am going to buy Cooper Cobra's for my convertible, in that same size. I've heard really good things about them. Also I don't remember who said General RT43's were good, but were outlined white letters and not solid. Used to be Hercules had a tire in that size but I haven't looked them up in awhile. Hankook has a blackwall in that size.

CW I bought a Jeep from a guy once who did up a Sheriff Buford T. Justice police car. Looked all over the country for a car with deluxe blue interior. He found a white one and painted it brown, had all the stickers done, had blue gumballs on the roof, it was spot on. That kind of stuff seems like a lot of fun to me.

Past bedtime. Three days only this week. Hope they go well. Have a good night everyone.

"I thought I would whip up some salmon a la Taku Lodge [ It a sea plane fly in place for about the cost of a new roof ya get salmon cooked in brown sugar and butter, baked beans, Cole slaw and cheap glass of wine. But the view of the glaciers and the scenery on the fly in is worth it]

Hi everyone.

Good day at work. Seems the lead has decided that 11 is what time we need to leave. We were done before 1030 but we had to wait. Don't think I missed anything yesterday.

Nice here, sun tries to peek out but it's mostly cloudy. About 20* cooler than it should be. Actually it's nice out.

Jamesbo the cost of whose roof, Greg's metal roof? That's got to be some scenery.

Well Tiger got beat out of his breakfast so I think we'll have our dinner early. Beef stew, with a bad view. Hope everyone is well.

I imagine that IF I had full coverage and totalled the car in a normal accidental way, that the blue book would say I owed the insurance company $1000.
