Good afternoon guys,
Beautiful out today for December, sunny and 57, probably on its way to 60. Just got done pulling all the stored vehicles out and getting them up to operating temp to drive any built up moisture out.. It takes a little while with 3 vehicles, taking covers off and battery tenders loose, and then letting the motorcycles cool down some before putting covers back on. I think it's worth it in the long run if the weather cooperates.

No other big plans for today. Hope everyone has a great day!

Finally started a little on old truck. I did need to push myself after this Covid funk but feels good to be back at it. Box looks really good on left side. Fender and running board need a little work.

Truck looks good Greg. I might have mentioned I'd like to have a 46 Chevy. They're pretty pricey though. Love the chrome grille on those. What does the gas tank do on yours? Fills from the bottom or is it laying on its side under the back of the cab?

The museum I belong to has a bunch of Ed Big Daddy Roth things in it. I wonder if he ever gets mixed up with Big Daddy Don Garlits. They're both Big Daddy.

Greg - Good luck on your truck project. Are you headed towards a repaint? What's the plan for what you would like to get done over the winter?

It's currently 75º and sunny (of course) here in Phoenix. I just got back from driving the convertible around; added a bit of material to some of the local roadway blacktop. The engine seems to be running very well, I guess it likes these temperatures as much as the dogs and I do. The Red Heeler didn't want to go back home on our walk this morning - we did a few miles when I had expected to just go around the block. Dang stubborn cattle dog has a mind of her own.

Kenneth- Glad the temp is finally down to a point where you can get out and enjoy yourself, and your car. You have a beautiful dog!

Ken, our last dog Jack was a Red Heeler mix. When we got him he was mostly still a puppy and really looked like a Heeler, but the older he got the more he looked like a mutt. But boy he was a great dog! Before that we had a female Blue Heeler. (Grace) she was a great dog but quite high strung- Loved both those dogs...
--Mike the tank fill from behind the drivers door. Chris, I plan to paint entire truck next winter. This winter I plan to get between box and cab and cut in around fenders etc.

Here's our other critter, a Blue Heeler mix. He definitely has the blue color but I think he has some kind of terrier mixed in since he is long legged and lean as compared to the typical stocky cattle dog body shape.
And DANG, cattle dog + terrier = off the scale high energy.

Good morning everyone.

Kenneth those pictures are really cool. I wanted to see it last night so I went over to the shop and stood at the end of the runway. I had binoculars and it really did look like the two were touching. Kinda cool seeing something you know no one has seen for 8000 years. By the way those are some awesome pups.

Awful house was short but sweet. Had a nice visit with my buddies. Won't see any of them now until New Years.

Gonna get the dogmobile ready today. I want to get up early and hit the road tomorrow so if everything is ready we can be on our way. I'm taking a dresser to my Mom, hope it doesn't get all warped or whatever being out in the car overnight.

Johnny come on over. I got plenty of projects for you to work on. Some of them even run. I didn't know you had sold your 71.

Okay gonna get after it. Hope everyone has a good day. It will be longer than yesterday.

Good evening guys,
Nice day here for December, sunny and 55. Rain forecast for tomorrow, then a temp drop for Christmas Eve and Christmas day with highs only in the low 30's, but no white Christmas.

Great news today with both my girls getting their 1st Covid shot, each getting the Moderna vaccine.. My son-in-law who's the paramedic/fighter should be in the next group. We have a plan for Christmas now. We are going to gather at my youngest daughter's home, with just her family, my oldest daughter's family, and my wife and I. This will be a nice change, as they usually go to their grandparents on their Mom's side, but decided against it this year.

Hope everyone had a good day!

Norm - Glad you found the source of the water intrusion and are on your way to getting it repaired.

I have been following all the Covid news also. Most the experts are saying they expect both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to still be effective, although there may be some decrease in efficacy. Like you said, they are suppossed to have a much clearer picture of what impacts the new variant may cause within the next few days.

Norm - I understood about a 1/3 of your 1rst paragraph and all of the 2nd one. I had previously heard an explanation similar to your second paragraph from scientists talking about the development of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, and their ability to remain efficacious related to potential mutations/variants of the virus. Don't want you're head to get too damn big, but your knowledge never ceases to amaze me!

Too many Granny Smith apples in the house resulted in this gourmet caramel apple pie. All made from scratch, even the caramel.

Hi Guys, Mike I think It's funny the name "Dogmobile". I remember a friend of mine used to go on the site "MiBid" which is where the state of Michigan auctions off surplus. He lived by the property in Lansing so he sometimes went and checked out stuff. Anyway the Michigan State Police had a 5 year old Tahoe they were going to sell. A lot of these were used as painted (MSP blue) patrol cars. This one looked great on the site. There was a place where the comments about the vehicles were. This one said among other things that it had a strong dog odor as it was used as a K9 unit. My buddy went and checked it out with some others and it was sitting in the sun and really was a "dogmobile" . I'm sure yours isn't like that, but whenever you mention "dogmobile" I think of that.
Well Christmas is almost here. Sure isn't how it usually is what with Covid... Merry Christmas all!!

Good morning guys,
Warm here this morning at 49, but overcast. Supposed to get some scattered showers later this afternoon, and then the temperature is supposed to drop. Christmas morning the low is supposed to be 15, with a high of only 28.

I can't believe Christmas is almost upon us. Where does the time go? For the past several years Christmas and New Years always brings up many mixed emotions for me. I lost my Mom on Christmas day in 2013, and my only brother 10-days later on January 4, 2014. Seems like yesterday, and yet a lifetime ago when we lost them. My brother and I had grandiose plans for all the time we'd spend together when we both retired, sadly that wasn't meant to be.

My wife and I will watch "It's a Wonderful Life" on Christmas Eve as one of our traditions. I usually need it to remind me of the blessings I do have, instead of dwelling on what I've lost.

I hope everyone has a great day, and that none of you has to be out in the last minute holiday shopping rush. I hate shopping and thank my lucky stars for online shopping these days!

Hi everyone.

Just got to Mom's. She's not here, she went to pick up her little grandson. He comes over for the afternoon until his parents get off work and come pick him up. So I got everything unloaded from the car and had a snack. Tiger was glad to stretch his legs in the back yard. Beautiful day today, all the way down. I didn't sleep very well last night so I turned off the alarm and got up whenever. Wasn't in a hurry and still got here in good time.

Greg that's funny. My car does smell like dog, and can be a little overpowering in the summer. I usually only drive it when Tiger is with me, and it needs vacuuming and cleaning. This is actually the second dogmobile. My big Chevy G20 I bought when I had my two other dogs. My boy liked to get up and roam around, and look out the back windows. My girl would curl up behind the driver's seat.

Chris my Granddad died on Christmas Day, oh heck, in 1987. He was sitting in his chair that afternoon while my Grandmother was getting dinner ready. She said she heard him take a couple big breaths and that was it. He'd been sick not quite a year, heart problems, and I think it was a blessing for him to go quickly. Whenever he'd have a spell, it was very traumatic. I hated what it did to my Grandma but she was a trooper, always at the ready for whatever he needed.

That pie looks delicious. I don't know if my Mom is making pie this time around or just cookies. I still don't know what we're doing for dinner. Well, whatever it is I'll be there. My niece likes entertaining and always does stuff up big.

Kenneth I love the pictures of Saturn. It looks so funny with the rings. It looks like the UFO that Greg made to scare Bobby on the Brady Bunch. I would have guessed that Jupiter would appear yellow.

Some plans for this weekend are to go back to where my one car was sold new in Pensacola in 1970. The place isn't there anymore(it's a gas station) but there's a big grass field and a driveway coming off the alley, that I'm certain is the way into their lot. I'm gonna take a picture of it. While I'm out that direction I'm gonna eat lunch at The Coffee Cup, just for Jamesbo, and at some point eat at Whataburger. Never been. Some guys at work have a fit when I tell them they're everywhere around here. It must be pretty good.

Okay! Mom will be back soon. Hope everyone has a great Festivus. That's today.

Good morning guys,

Merry Christmas Eve! Even during this crazy year of Covid, I have been blessed in so many ways and have so much to be thankful for. Some of those things I am thankful for are the camaraderie I've found on this site, and the new friends I've found in the regular contributors to this thread. You guys are all great, and I would really enjoy meeting all of you in person some day if you're ever traveling through St. Louis. I wish all of you and your families the Merriest of Christmases and the Happiest New Year!

Chris

Hi everyone.

Taking a break from Christmas cookies. We're all at my sister's house being various stages of helpful. I bugged out for a little while, to come back and let Tiger out. A little quiet time is good, too, as it gets a little loud and busy where there's a bunch of people in a small space.

Rained quite a bit last night, and it's still hanging around. It's supposed to be sunny and warm this afternoon, and tomorrow. I'll take that. I remember the first time I spent Christmas in Florida in the 80s. It was summer-like out and after we opened presents we went to the beach. Can't beat that.

Going back in a minute to help finish up and clean up. Also, my contribution, Special K Candy, should be ready. I'll eat a couple pounds of that. My sister had gotten some champagne to make mimosa's. I had mine sans the orange juice. Wonderful.

Okay have a great afternoon everyone. Santa should be able to be seen on the radar soon.

Still having two kids in the house, they each get one toy on Christmas Eve! The toys are squeaky *****, but unfortunately they break the squeaker in about 10-minutes. They'll have to wait until tomorrow for the other 20 toys.

Merry Christmas Olds friends! Hope Santa filled your stockings full! Absolutely frigid here this morning, 11 degrees at 0730. The dogs will get the rest of their Christmas presents when they get up, and I was able to keep my wife's new miter saw a surprise by hiding it in the trunk of the 442. I can't wait to see the look on her face when she gets it. We'll be off to my youngest daughter's house for Christmas dinner around 1130. I hope everyone has a wonderful day, and if any of you were lucky enough to get a new Red Ryder BB Gun, don't shoot your eye out!

James - I'm sure you're absolutely correct! If I wasn't a 1,000% sure she was going to love it, I wouldn't even have considered it. She's a different, and special, kind of gal!

Norm - Way too early to tell, but so far I have heard the police got a call with a tip of a suspicious vehicle (RV) and that the vehicle exploded just as police and other responders were arriving on the scene. There is some speculation the bomb may have been purposely detonated to coincide with the arrival of the responders??? Like I said, too early to tell. I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of it with time.

Good morning everyone Merry Christmas.

Sunny here and cool, it's supposed to be 70 so it better hurry. We're having dinner tonight later, around 5, so Mom is making all my favorite food today for me to take home. She's also making a pie and brownies for the neighbors, they put the trash out for her each week and bring the cans in.

My Mom got Tiger a bone and wrapped it up. He unwrapped it and got the bone out of the plastic in about one minute flat. That made him happy until I got out a bottle of pop and then he forgot all about the bone and wanted to chew on the plastic bottle.

I hate that someone had to plant a bomb. From the sounds of it whoever it was was watching and waiting. I'll refrain from my opinion so Jamesbo doesn't have to throw me off here.

Well Christmas or no, I have a list of things to do around the house, and I also want to go see that driveway. The Coffee Cup is probably closed. It's nice being around family for Christmas, that's not usually the case.

Okay have a great day everyone. See you's all later. Ho Ho Ho!

Right in front of an AT&T transmission facility, resulting in internet, cel phone, and emergency communications services out across the area. Hmmmm.

Good morning guys,
Hope everyone had a great Christmas! Cold here again this morning at 22, but better than yesterday's 11 at this time. Warming to 48 this afternoon, and close to 60 tomorrow, crazy Missouri weather.

We had a great Christmas visit at my daughter's house. My wife was in charge of desserts, I think she had it covered!

Chocolate Chip and Gooey Butter cookies

Peanut Butter cookies

Gooey Chocolate Bourbon cookies

Chocolate Fudge

The dogs got the rest of their presents when we got home. They were crazed! Several great tug-of-wars over the same toy.

When we were done with the dogs I told my wife, well, there's one present left, it's out in the trunk of the 442, and I'll need you to help me carry it in. When she saw what it was, it brought tears to her eyes and said she loved it!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks Norm! I don't envy you having to work on the roof out in that cold. Hopefully the cold front will move out quickly. Good luck!
