Hi everyone.

Talk about the bitter end. I guess 100 wheels was a little too optimistic. I think we got to 80. I don't care. The lead hinted that he wanted people to stay, I don't know for overtime or for free but no one did.

Beautiful out. Hot. I'm going over to the shop to mess around.

Johnny I would have voted NAY (because you weren't in the convertible) but overzealous moderator had to shut things down.

So Jamesbo, speaking of moderators, here's something I don't get. If there's a thread that is not allowed, say politics, and the moderator locks it, what good does that do? Why not delete the thread? If you don't want politics(or whatever the sin-du-jour is) by locking the thread and leaving it, you still have politics on the site.

Hm I see that yesterday I blew past the 7th anniversary of owning my blue Cutlass convertible. Seven years. And last week, I blew past several anniversaries: On the 7th the Vista Cruiser 6 years, the 8th the brown Valiant 33 years, the 9th one of the blue Valiants 1 year, and the 10th the black truck 8 years. Wow. I remember the blue Valiant, that guy was the ****-kicker from hell.

Okay gonna go to the shop. Have a good afternoon.

Beautiful day out. Several things to choose from to do this afternoon.

Have a good time at the aquarium Jeff.

Still no convertible. When I'm in the Aura I put all four windows down and it's not like a convertible at all.

Okay have a good afternoon everyone. Afternoon starts in 17 minutes.

That's a pretty good price on a well-kept (from the exterior appearance) vehicle. It always strikes me as very peculiar how you can list 30 pictures of a car and not one picture is of the engine. I find that very odd. It says it has the monster 455 - I'm assuming it's installed somewhere under the hood of the car?

You have to love a statement like this one:
Air conditioning car (currently not hooked up).
What, you just plug it in like a lamp and away you go? LMAO

I've cruised through Sun Prairie a gazillion times. I love WI.

That's a pretty car. When I was in high school a friend of mine had the big wagon of that car. I think it was its own county. Another dude in the auto shop had the 4 door sedan. Since we lived in Rustville it was pretty much eaten alive. He was always spraying gloss black paint over the rust. It was a light green car.

Oddy enough I know several people in Sun Prairie. Never been there.

Jamesbo if you want to teach us how to make something, how about cornbread. That would be simple. Or Tomato soup pie, or whatever it was that was Sandy's favorite. Are bears swimming in the lake a normal occurrence?

Found out a dear friend of mine up home has died. Service is Thursday, I'm going to try to make it up there. Don't think it will be easy but I have to try. Oh I just remembered our gates at O'Hare have changed and they're awful. Great.

My sister is going to call soon, so off I go. Have a good evening everyone.

Just finished reading "The things our fathers saw" Mathew Rozzell [pacific theater]

Excellent vignettes of people who were actually there. It's a series of books [D-day, Air war etc] I would recommend to anyone with an interest in WW II

Have a great day Olds friends

While grabbing a cappuccino this past Saturday at our local coffee shop this hardback was in the leave a book take a book area. After a quick flyby read-through I decided to take it home with me. Reads well. Copyright 1995, it isn’t a sensationalist book RE: SARS-CoV-19. Just a good factual read.

Hi everyone.

Thanks guys, she was a very special lady. The world is a lesser place without her. Doesn't look like I'll be going up for the funeral, too many things standing in the way.

Beautiful out, and hot as a mother. I wanted to mow but I just don't have the energy. After getting up with the chickens every day and staring at the computer all day, and throwing those big tires around, I'm pooped when I get home and most times sit down and snooze. Which is probably why I have trouble sleeping at night, which is why I'm tired when I wake up...

So work today was pitiful. We had 38 wheels done by lunch. We ended at 87, which is better than yesterday. I'm certain we could have made 100 both days, and every day, but some of the people working there are slow as molasses and just don't give a damn. I used to get irritated at them, but I'm over it. I can't do my job unless they do theirs, so it's out of my hands. When the regular leads get back they'll have to answer for it.

Saw an interesting thing last night before I went to bed. A wasp was sitting on the porch railing eating an ant.

Gonna be an early night. We're sort of past Hump Day, since there's only four days in our work week. I guess the hump would be nighttime between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Have a good evening everyone.

Good morning all. I'm starting today with a trip to the dentist. I'd rather be cruising Route 66 in something classic.

Hi everyone.

Nice today, there's rain around but not here. Work was interesting. The last two days we had the unrealistic goal of 100 wheels. We didn't come close. Today the lead comes to us and says we just can't continue, we must make that magic number(the number is pulled out of someone's ****). With a 90% reduction in flights, suddenly all the outstations are out of wheels. Never mind we've been producing more wheels than the system needs. He says, what's the problem. We say, we are short people and we need them back from those dumb special projects. So he gets several people back, and we whip out 100 wheels like nothing. He already knew the answer, he was just afraid to make waves.

CW how'd the dentist go this morning? I need to go, haven't been in, um, awhile.

So here is a question. You know I do some weird things sometimes, I had this thought of getting a big camping trailer, like an Airstream, and parking it next to the house and building a breezeway between the house and the trailer and making it living space. Do you's think I can insulate and seal it enough to not be hot/cold and to air condition it so it's like the rest of the house? Could I use regular rolled insulation or would it require expandable foam? That stuff looks like fun anyway but it's pretty expensive.

Well I have a couple hours until bed, wonder what I can get into. Sun is out now. I'm in for the evening. July is half over already. Sheesh.

Have a good evening everyone.

Look Ma! No cavities! Apparently my tooth pain is from grinding my teeth at night, not from a cavity or cracked tooth. I'm going to be fitted for a mouth guard.

Its been absolutely magnificent weather this week, I'm enjoying it while I can, hope you guys get to do the same.

Yep, ditto on the mouth guard. My dentist wanted $400 bucks for one that would last one year, I buy the Dentek brand in the stores around here for $20 and replace it about every two months.

Hi everyone.

Hot out and sunny. I like it. We ended a couple minutes past noon today because the lead wanted to address us. I have no idea what he said because he won't speak up, he wears that stupid mask, and even if you can hear him he sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher. He came over and started talking to like two people, and others noticed him and headed over, by the time I knew he was there(I was still working oddly enough) he was finished. So I hope it isn't anything safety related.

So the camping trailer idea. I have a big carport in front of the house that I'm going to enclose and my first thought was to get a Bambi and park in there and then let that be my new Master Suite. Put in a nice bathroom, etc. But then I saw that Bambi's are north of 20K so there went that idea. So my second thought was get a big trailer, like an Excella or a Spartan Mobile Mansion and park it next to the house. Trailers are exempt from the unregistered vehicles bit in the county, so it would just look like a camping trailer sitting next to the house. I can make it discrete. There are a few Mansions in the area, hm.

Gonna take my mower over to the shop this afternoon and see how long it takes to blow it up. I cut down a bunch of brush but the little stems are still there where I couldn't cut them flush, so maybe the mower will cut them or go over them. I need to move some stuff over there and I'm out of useable space.

Okay have a great afternoon everyone.

Hi everyone.

Long day so far. Left this morning for Birmingham and bought an 85 Mercedes 380SL. Not what I set out months ago to get but it should be good for some summer cruising. I'll get a picture tomorrow.

Jamesbo that's awesome. Although with as much as I mow my yard it would look like that without the camo paintjob.

Norm I need more computer advise. Do I need to defrag my computer? How do I do it? Many moons ago I'd defrag my Windows 2 computer, it would take all night. Have computers evolved to where I don't need to do that anymore? I don't even remember how I did it before.

Hot out. Tiger stayed home today. The AC belt on the truck likes to chew itself off the pulley at will and it wouldn't have been nice for him if that were to have happened today. I think the compressor is randomly binding and wears the belt until it breaks. I changed it this spring and I looked the other day and it's rather toasted. It's a pain to change as well.

Okay gonna relax this evening. Not sure if the Awful house is dining in yet, I keep calling but the lazy a$$ working this afternoon doesn't answer the phone. I'll probably sit it out tomorrow.

Have a good evening everyone.

Mike - You should defrag your computer on a regular basis. Windows 10 has automatic defrag built into it. If you're running a prior version of Windows, you'll need to defrag it manually. You can actually create a Windows TASK to run a defrag on schedule but we're deep diving more than I believe you're interested in going.

Locate the Drive you want to defrag via 'File Explorer'. You most likely want to defrag your System Drive (which is generally the C: drive). You can perform this operation on each drive. Next, 'Right Click' the drive you want to defrag, in this case the C: Drive):

The following screen will open. Next, Click the Properties tab.

The following screen appears. Select the 'Tools' tab. Find Optimize & Defragment drive & Click 'Optimize' tab.

The following screen will appear (Windows 10), your screen may look different depending on the version of Windows you are running. Click to Analyze or Optimize (defragment) the drive.

Mike - Noodling about I found the Defragment scheduler in W7/Vista. I couldn't recall when they began to provide a task scheduled defragmentation.

Good morning everyone.

I think I've had a revelation. I'm boycotting the Awful house. They are still to go only and I'm tired of going over there only to get a dog burger. She says this morning, why don't you get something to take home? I said, if I wanted to eat at home I would have stayed home. Now, I could go to another Awful house, but I don't have the intestinal fortitude to break in another one.

Jamesbo is that the "Remember When" group at Cypress Gardens?

Pretty out. Phone says it's 80 but it doesn't feel like it. Gonna be hot all weekend. Good.

Thanks Norm. My computer is Windows 10 so it must have the built in defrag program. It seems like the machine is running slower than usual, and on previous machines that meant defrag. It's not that it's more involved than I want to go, it's more involved than I can understand. I'm lucky to get this thing to turn on.

Plan for the day is to move stuff to the shop. I'd be happy with two cars moved, the thing that's going to hold me up is the remains of a Rampside pickup. The engine and trans are together still with no wheels, the cab is teetering on the front wheels but way heavier than what I can move by myself. Not sure yet that I want to cut it up. Well, I have a little time before I need to make that decision.

Okay Happy Saturday everyone. Have a great day.

Mike- Go into your Programs and Features, sort the column by date, look for Programs and Features (1) which you recognize (2) which you don’t recognize (3) delete those you recognize which you haven’t used since the Earth cooled (4) research any programs you don’t believe belong on your computer and delete them (5) determine how much free space you have in your C: System Drive.

Finally, three final operations: (6) Perform a Disk Cleanup for both the C: Drive and for System files (DO NOT COMPRESS THE C: DRIVE), (7) Go to Settings>Update/Security>Update and (8) Select/Create a Page File on your Crive which is 1.5 times larger then your installed RAM (installed memory).

Jump in the lake & cool off.

Right Click your System Drive (C Drive) when it opens you'll be on the General Tab. Click on Disk Cleanup.

This will now be the place you review the files you want to delete from your C Drive which are taking large amounts of space. Don't worry if you remove something you aren't sure of, it will rebuild on its own if it is needed. Review the files and delete as many as you can to free space. You'll get something which looks like this. Pick the ones you want to delete and hit OK.

After you've run that operation, you'll be returned to the General Tab. Now, click the Cleanup System Files tab to cleanup unneeded System Files to free additional space.

You'll get something which resembles this (below). Review the files (Select them), click OK.

Mike - If there exists a chance you loaded (or previously loaded) an application/program which was not necessarily "designed" to run on Windows 10 (face it - there are an A$$LOAD of people who have no idea whatsoever that an application/program is written to run on an Operating System [OS] platform be it Apple, UNIX, Linus, Microsoft or whatever) then review the following links. There are gazillions of people who simply expect $HIT to work. If the application was written for Windows 7 or a previous version of Windows but it ran fine on Windows 7 but doesn't run so well on Windows 10 - review the following. I'm pretty much exhausting every possibility known which may provide you or others w/ some assistance. Bob's your Uncle, Betty's your Aunt!

How to Set Compatibility Mode for Apps in Windows 10
Make older apps or programs compatible with Windows 10

Starting Monday we will be required to wear a face covering at work. We will have to have it on in order to enter the building. Not required to wear it at my work station as we are more than 6 feet apart, but if we go to the restroom, lunchroom, or hallways, it is required.

Holy Toledo.

I started moving this car at 10 and I just now have the front wheels up on the trailer. First it wouldn't budge. Jacked up all four wheels independently and they all turned. Set it down and miraculously it moved. The order of the day is a come along that I can get about three feet out of, then have to reset the whole deal. And of course the driveway has no shade. I think I'm starting to melt.

Norm count me as one of the gazillion. Yes I know things are coded a certain way, but at this stage why isn't there one computer language so everything is compatible. Different gasolines are compatible. Different motor oils are compatible. Everybody uses the USB port. It could work, if someone wanted it to. But to answer your question, no, I haven't downloaded anything so I wouldn't have mixed anything up.

Apparently one of the things I didn't hear the lead say Thursday was that there's going to be a Tech Ops wide mask policy. It seems not many people wear one, I can't imagine why. So in true Delta fashion they are going to go ***** out with some ridiculous rule that will most likely be forgotten about in about three weeks.

I think break will be extended a little today. This is a good reminder to get the winch put on the big trailer. Trouble is, the big trailer won't fit on the driveway. Oh and once the car is on the trailer, I'm taking it to the shop and it has to come off the trailer. That will probably be just as hard. Why didn't I buy a roll back.

Okay see ya's later.

Mike - When I obtained my fixed-wing single-engine aircraft private pilot's license (1973) I flew my solo cross-country via cross-referencing radio signals to form vectors to establish my location. Times change, so does the software. Today you can obtain a plethora of NAVCOMM devices - many of which are quite dissimilar - nothing remains the same. Today, you hit a button and there you are. Boeing, Lockheed, Airbus, Bombardier, Embraer, Tupoloev, Cessna, Diamond, Mooney, Piper, Beechcraft all make fixed-wing aircraft - they all have wings, ailerons, stabilizers, flaps, fuselage, spoilers, etc. and none of them operate the same software. I suppose they could all use the same software - it's called competition. Much like today's automobiles - they run on a PCM, ECM, FICM, etc. and each manufacturer's software is different and each manufacturer's software is continually being updated (hey, we have a new PCM download available for your beastly automobile - that old download ain't making it). Nice try though.

Speaking of easier to work on. My buddies son is about 35 years old, and has a '85 Z/28 and a 1989 Iroc Z Camaro. His comment on cars, is that the older ones (early '70's and earlier) are easier to work on, and no computers to worry about.

Hi everyone.

Boy that car kicked my *** more than I thought yesterday. Went to bed early, slept late, still fell asleep sitting on the couch. Now I gotta go undo it all.

Norm do you still fly? For years I wanted to get my private pilot's license, then a friend of mine dumped his plane after missing his go-around in his fly in community. He was in an induced coma for two months when an infection developed and he died. Freaked me the hell out. So there went my desire to get my license. It's dumb, I know, but I just don't have the motivation to do it. Also, I was friends with another guy who wanted to get his, so we sort of backed up each other's desire, but he had a dozen or so kids to maintain and he never had the money. And I don't see him anymore so no one to push me. That's okay, I wouldn't be content to fly in a Cessna 150. I of course would want a 757 immediately. You said they all have wings...

Tiger has been scratching and licking and biting non stop. It got worse after I gave him a bath. I started giving him coconut oil in his food, I might give him some by itself. The vet said to give him Benadryl. He told me that with the other two and it made them so hyper I could hardly stand it. Might go get some local honey and give him some of that, too. Heck I'd like some local honey. There's treats and food that have anti-itch things in them but it's all chemicals. If this natural stuff works so much the better.

Okay gonna go work on that car. After that, put the winch on the big trailer. I'm not doing that come along thing anymore. I don't care if the truck does hang out into the street. Have a good afternoon everyone.

Mike - I absolutely love flying. My last PIC flight was 2000 out of Mid-Carolina Regional Airport (RUQ), Kannapolis, NC. I was seriously considering buying a plane at that time. Instead, I elected for (another) boat. You'd think I would have learned my lesson with boats (i.e. holes in the water). I probably would have gained more satisfaction with a plane, but the $100 cheeseburgers when I learned to fly had become $1,000 cheeseburgers and I couldn't justify the cost. Since then I have sold the boat, as well. These activities removed me from the quality time I enjoy watching my lawn grow.
