The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
We'll get a "portion" of the remnants of Helene but not much expected - I'm directly on the coast. Southern Appalachians should expect significant amounts of rain.
There's been a disorganized system brewing off the Cape Verde Islands for several days which most likely will form into a TS in the next several days. Too early to say what to expect, but watching its development.

I asked because you did not say you received an injection today. You said: "Initial treatment is Cortisone injection and PT." I hope the cortisone injection begins working quickly. If someone didn't fair well taking Endocrinology they most likely got lost studying CRH & ACTH. Most likely an M.D.

You lost me with " If someone didn't fair well taking Endocrinology they most likely got lost studying CRH & ACTH." What are CRH and ACTH, care to give me the layman's definitions?
As levels of cortisol in the blood fall (as determined via the pituitary gland), the hypothalamus releases Corticotropin-Releasing Hormone (CRH), directing the pituitary gland to produce Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH). ACTH stimulates the Adrenal Glands to produce and release Cortisol. Essentially, the pituitary gland is king - moderating/managing/analyzing nearly every hormone in the body. The interplay between the pituitary gland & the hypothalamus control every single hormone in the body (endocrinology) - the endocrine system. The hormones released operate on other glands in the endocrine system to maintain homeostasis.
Keith - Regarding Ryan Hall. I'm not a big fan. He's a dropout. A YouTube "Vapor" Influencer turned verbose/vacillating (supposed) weather analyst. He claims to be a professional weather analyst; yet holds no degree in Meteorology as he quit his program. Good thing he doesn't state he's a professional meteorologist. He uses NASA HAFS-A/-B (Hurricane Analysis and Forecast System) of the NASA AOS (Atmosphere Observing System). Like any meteorologist they all use NASA AOS data, supplemented w/ local Doppler radar. There's no meteorologist in this country who doesn't employ NASA AOS data. I prefer to get data w/o the sensationalism delivered via weather forecasters. I just don't like the guy - period. This guy Ryan spends as much time glamorizing himself as he does repeating himself every 20 seconds. Geeze.

I like the content provided. (If you call having a "degree" credited is the only trust in content there are many many smart dumb fphucks with no common sense, less life experience I wouldnt trust as far as I could throw'm)
Ryans support of members of the team as they track in time and location of these events as they are happening priceless.
To each it's own we will have to agree to disagree on this one. No harm no foul
Party on Garth
Cortisone is a precursor to Cortisol. The pituitary gland controls & stimulates production of both Cortisone & Cortisol which are produced/released via the Adrenal Cortex gland(s) located on top of the kidneys.

Lots of thing going on.
Talked to my landlord at the polebarn. I can rent a second spot. Yay. I'll move the van over there next to the Monte Carlo. This is a great building, climate controlled, lit, with power, and room to spot my truck in front of my parked vehicles. Cheaper by 25% than the storage units. I need to build a big garage, and I need to ditch the last of my grandma's stuff. I'll check the cleared area in the AM, work, go home, change, drive to the storage unit, park the truck, drive the van around and to the pole barn, leave it, and walk to the storage units and get the truck. For a decent understanding, my house is at the bottom of a right triangle at the 90. The pole barn is a mile north. The storage units are 2 miles to the east. So, I'll be walking the hypotenuse. At least I can walk through the county fairgrounds. When I was a thinner man, I would run there. Would like to do that again.
Drove the 72 H/O again. Drove fine. I did the 5 second hot start on it twice, and this time, it was weaker, but acceptable. I let it run for a while, like 2 min, shut it down, did the 5 second drill again, and it cranked fine then. Drove into garage, parked, did the drill once more. Good start. I am ok with the occasional less than awesome start. I will replace harnesses and cables in the future.
Called my mom in central FL. This hurricane will give them some outer band rain, but no real issue.

Speaking of those-who-came-before, one of mine was on the Lewis and Clark expedition as a “food procurement specialist” on the Louisiana section. That’s the term I coined for his occupation, so don’t expect to find it in an internet search.
She lives in Mount Dora, which is a profoundly dumb name for a Florida town, and I do have a "I climbed Mount Dora" t shirt.
Not sure exactly what you'd call that type occupation but a person such as this most likely had a great deal of knowledge of plants, mushrooms & various types of critters? Those items which could be procured to feed the masses I guess?
Yep, the expedition hired locals who were familiar with the areas being explored. A group of locals would be contracted for an area, and when the expedition reached the end of that group’s familiarity, they would be replaced with another from the new area being traversed. This continued along the entire route beginning at the Gulf of Mexico and ending in Oregon.

While that may well be an accurate word for the position, it doesn’t sound nearly as impressive as my phraseology.
In all seriousness, what I recall from the genealogy information, there were “guides” who were familiar with the the river and were responsible for transportation, and there were separate groups who were familiar with the local flora and fauna who were responsible for procuring provisions along the way.

Hurricane Katrina was 902 millibars
Hurricane Sandy was 946 millibars
Helene is now at 970 millibars
The more rapid the millibar declination the greater the Category (e.g. Rapid Intensification)
Normal atmospheric pressure @ MSL @ 25°C = 1013 millibars (29.92"Hg = 14.7 Lbs/SI)
