When did you last perform the deletion of the 3,000 photos? What tool did you use to perform the deletions?

If you navigate to this site does it show same info as the other site you were just at? Do they match or are they out of sync?

I deleted about half of them an hour or so ago, the rest about two weeks ago. I went to my albums and went to the three dots, where one of the options is to delete the album that I clicked on, and deleted them, one album at a time.

OK. Found something of interest to note. This may be key. NOTE: Much like other applications i.e. e-mail, files, recycle bin, etc. Google Photos Storage may be "counting" those images you deleted because they're now located in a Trash folder.
Check for a Trash folder and delete everything in the Trash folder because Trash (also) counts against your total storage.

To create more storage space, delete unnecessary files in each app and then empty the Trash in each app, as items in the Trash count toward your storage.

Also remove any hidden data from apps in Google Drive:
  1. On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
  2. Click Settings Settings.
  3. On the left, click Manage apps.
  4. If there's hidden data, you can find the amount under the app's description.
  5. To delete this data, click Options Delete hidden app data.

I doubt it seriously. I just think there's a point in navigating the storage app & you'll free up the space. Google WANTS you to save your photos even for free (17 GB).

Funny, I have one photo (1.5 MB) I evidently loaded in 2015. I have over 15.5 GB of free storage remaining.

Each Google app (also) contains a Trash folder. I don't use any of this stuff, but each "app" folder (if you use any Google apps) contains a Trash folder. It says to delete anything in the Trash folder for any Google app (again, if you use any Google apps).

Kenneth that video is hilarious. I'm going to put my hand up and ask the same question. This group would 5S the keyboard right out of my hands if they thought my desk was too crowded.

Chris where I'm from the place you got your registration renewal was called the Currency Exchange. They were privately owned. You could do all sorts of things there, cash checks, send money Western Union, etc. I had a bit of a scam going when I was a kid. I'd get my registration changed from one car to another, the CE would send it to the state, and before it was mailed back to me I'd change it again, so my paperwork showed I had legal registration for one plate on two cars. These days I usually go in to the Tag Office to do car stuff. It costs a dollar per if I mail it in. And they charge a fee for the credit card, so I go in and write a check.

Busy busy tomorrow. My nephew is picking me up so we can go get a Uhaul truck. Then we are loading it up with scrap metal and going to the recycler. Then we are getting the rest of my furniture from Mom's and taking it to my house. Then he's going to help me hang a couple things, like a couple pictures we need to stand on ladders, and an electric chain fall in my basement.

Well hope everyone has a good evening.

Wandered off for a bit. So Norm, it appears that I was using the wrong means when deleting photos. Using Google Drive is doing the trick, as I am now freeing up space. Thanks for the help.

Good deal. Yeah, appears https://drive.google.com/ is the correct place to manage storage.

My HP laptop has1TB of storage, and I occasionally move older photos and important docs off to an external hard drive. Really important stuff resides on both. Works well for what I have to store and keep up with.

I have three internal hard disks & one external hard disk - Total storage = 7.5 TB

System C: drive = x1 1 TB Seagate BaraCuda SSD divided across three partitions
Internal storage = x2 3 TB Seagate Barracuda HDD ST3000DM001 7.2K 6.0 Gb/s SATA Desktop Hard Drives (RAID 1)
External storage = x1 500 GB Seagate HDD

All data written to the internal storage (RAID 1) array is mirrored across two disks for complete redundancy. If one drive fails it's mirror contains exact/identical data.
Nightly backups are written to the external HDD

Everything is automated.

I had Hyper-V employed on this box at one time in which I ran x6 operating systems - x3 Windows 2010 clients & x3 Windows 2010 servers. I no longer employ Hyper-V (thankfully). At one time I had six full cabinet h/w servers in my office - each running Windows 2010 Server + Hyper-V for a total of 15 Windows 2008 clients & 5 Windows 2010 servers.

Sorry, I meant I put stuff online for hosting. Used to be, you put stuff on the internet for it to be on the internet. I don't do cloud. My soon to be demoted to secondary PC has a 3TB file drive. I bought a new case for the new machine and will get parts this fall to build it. During the processor wars, I'd build a new machine every year. Stuff has slowed down. I think I built every year from 2000-2004, then 2006, bought a laptop in 2010, built in 2013, then 2018 and now 2025. This new one should last me ten years. Either PCs are slowing down getting stronger, or my needs are not growing like they used to. I don't play many new games or do massively intensive CAD or video editing, so probably both.

I have far more RAM (32 GB) than I need for one machine. The reason I have this much RAM is because each VM (Virtual Machine) running in Hyper-V requires a minimum of 1 GB RAM (optimally 2 GB RAM) for each client/server. Albeit, 32 GB RAM handles 16 VMs nicely.

Not that you're chomping at the bits to know this stuff, but when I worked on customer engagements I replicated my customers network configurations and the s/w they ran on their network (clients, servers, brouters, routers, etc.). Each of my Hyper-V VMs was loaded with the majority (virtually) all MS s/w. I installed network monitoring/management s/w into a customers network. If they ran Office 365, MS Exchange, MS Sharepoint, MS Office Suite, MS Configuration Manager, etc. blah, blah, blah - I installed & configured a Microsoft Operations Manager MP (Management Pack) to monitor and manage every bit of s/w in their network right down to the port traffic of every single BIT contained w/in every single packet that traversed the network.

The majority of customers ran HPE ProLiant DL380 G11 2U Rack Servers; so, I bought one. Nice server. I had three of them (plus my personal PCs).

They're tasty.

BTW/FWIW a DL380 can support up to 198 TB. You'll notice there exist 12 HDDs in the DL380. Common configuration is to place 10 HDDs into a RAID 10 (RAID 0+1) array for complete mirroring with parity stripe across all arrays (10) w/in the RAID array. Then, configure the two remaing HDDs with a RAID 1 array. **** happens.

Many (Most?) of my customers owned ~200 - 300 DL 380s in each Data Center. Multiply that by the number of global Data Centers w/in a corporate IT infrastructure & you can arrive at basic level of cost and global network configurations to support these customers.

Microsoft alone runs ~4 million servers globally. Google runs ~1 million. Amazon ~1.5 million.

We joke (not really joking) that 5S means “throw everything out” just like in that video. It’s amazing how much stuff we have lost due to 5S activities. Management assigned groups to areas where they didn’t work, had no clue what was what, and they tossed out important, expensive, irreplaceable items. It’s comical on a Three Stooges level and management is oblivious to it.

Hi everyone.

Whoa big day. Picked up a Uhaul and loaded up 1100 pounds of scrap metal to take to the recycler. Got a whopping 78 bucks. Then we went to Mom's and loaded up my desk and several other things and took them to my house and unloaded. Then we went back to Mom's and had lunch, hung a couple things on the wall, and that was the end of our day. Went to Golden Corral for dinner. Wasn't too bad actually. Now I'm beat and I'm going home and going to bed, and sleeping in in the morning.

Since I wasn't at work today, I didn't get to find out how the brake side did with their first day of the new 5S. Hopefully since the first one wasn't all that long ago, there wasn't much done. I can't wait until they get to the wheel side. The people last year went too far I thought, telling us we couldn't have drinks or food on our desks, couldn't have anything under our desks, etc. All my extra supplies are under my desk and I have water all day. No one said anything to me but they did to others. WTF is right.

All the family is leaving early tomorrow, so it's business as usual for us. Walmart. It might be a little later because I'm sleeping in and won't be in a hurry.

Okay time to go home and go to bed. Have a good evening everyone.

I have found that, in a corporation, there are people involved with making the place go, and there are ones that aren't. The people that aren't technically involved with making the place go usually don't pack the gear to handle that sort of job, and the guys who work on the floor could probably do most of the other jobs, on the other hand. I personally think that any decent engineer has the potential to swap into damn near any job in a factory and do it well after some training. Point being, there's real work, and then there's bullshit work made up to justify the jobs of half the people there. My plant has people that all they do is print out posters and put them on the main aisle. That's it.

The issue is when the bullshit workers try to press their bullshit on the ones that do their jobs, and a large part is 5Sing emergency critical spares. I am going to put a sign on something some day that says: Do Not Touch. If you do not know what This Thing Does, and how Important It Is, you don't get to touch it, let alone 5S it. In fact, you don't even get to look at it; move along.

Drank last night and fired up my recently repaired 4 channel reel to reel. I have a good copy of Deep Purple's Machine Head, the problem is, it screeches. There is something called LOL, Loss of Lubrication, and it hums over the heads like a violin bow, as opposed to sliding. The fix is to wipe tape with silicone oil. It's a tape issue. I followed it up with a modern 4 track bootleg of the Floyd's Wish You Were Here, and it sounded sublime.

Had a not sublime minor migraine this AM. Got moving after lunch and cleared out around the 72 H/O and swept. Need to drop starter tomorrow, replace solenoid, check connections.

Dang, that’s 7 cents a pound. I woulda thought you’d get more than that, but I have no experience with metal salvage. Just surprised the price is that low.

Hi everyone.

Slept in today then went to Walmart. Then went and tried to organize all that I took to my house. Got a little bit done. No rush.

Kenneth last time I took metal to the recycler it was 12c per hundred. That ain't squat. Really the money isn't -that- important, I mean I'm no tree hugger but I'd rather get something for it and have it recycled, than to have it go to the landfill. I've heard most of what goes to be recycled ends up in the landfill anyway. Although the place I go to is a big yard, not some center with volunteers who mix everything together.

Beautiful weather this weekend. Next rain Wednesday. Got plenty to do inside. I so appreciated not getting rained on while moving.

Okay a little MASH then off to bed. Hope everyone has a good week coming up.

Jacked up the 72 H/O today. I need a lift. Used my chunks of railroad tied backed up by jack stands, and I put an extra inch board in, which helped.

Dropped the inspection cover over the torque converter, pulled the exhaust bolts and the bottom bolt on the heat shield, then lowered the starter some. Started being a bitch then, and pulled the top bolt off the heat shield, got it gone, then dropped the exhaust pipe down to the floor. Did my famous extensions over the motor mount to get to some of the connections. Once I got them free, I got the starter loose and they were still on. Fortunately, there's a lot of harness there once you get the pos batt cable off. Got the starter out, pulled off the Accumax solenoid on there and put the Napa HD Echlin one Kenneth recommended on there. Stopped there.

I am going to get a couple longer all thread chunks and hardware tomorrow so I can more easily put on these harnesses. I did not like how some of the ring terminals are, I may replace a couple. My starter bolts had oil on the threads, I am going to clean out the holes. I will also scuff some of the paint off the heat shield where it touches for better ground.

Aside from my 3 ton floor jack I have a handy 1/2 ton floor jack - makes short order of wresting w/ that 30lb starter. I can jack the starter right up to the height it needs to be to remove &/or install the starter. Frick'n OEM starter is heavy & always in an awkward position for your arms to navigate even when sitting on jack stands.
