Hi everyone.

Got home a little early this morning so got some good sleep before I got up around 1. Went over to the shop for a little while. I haven't been there in better than a couple weeks, and everything is the same. Hm.

Jeff remember you don't have to take the first offer the insurance company gives you. Do some research of like vehicles and that way you'll know if they're lowballing you. My other suggestion for a used car would be Cutlass Ciera/Celebrity/Century. You can still find some pretty good ones for cheep. Don't know what Aura's go for these days but my Mom has an 08 and she likes it. Dan?

So in the wee hours in the morning I'm driving up to Ohio to buy a parts car. This is about the dumbest thing I can think of doing, but, I've never seen one like this one and it's something I've been looking for. It's a 97 Aurora, with blue leather interior and heated seats. Now, the blue seats are rare as hen's teeth but to be heated as well? I want this interior for another project. I can part the rest of the car out and get my money back. I'm getting it from Chris "Coldwar" and he lives pretty close to Sandy. He said he saw her around but never talked to her. His loss. I wish this didn't have to be such a whirlwind trip, there's a couple people I know that live up that way that I'd like to see, maybe even Larry, but I'm going to turn right around and come home.

So, the dogs go to jail for a couple days. I'm taking them this afternoon and then heading north for pizza. I had Pizza Hut last week but it was subgrade and I need to redeem myself with the pizza gods.

Well good Thursday to you all. See you in a couple.

Dan, is that 131 they closed? I'm sure my buddy in Bellaire is getting pounded.
John, I heard nothing on any major roadways being shut down, this was a local one in my town.

Mornin all.

Glad it was tasty Scot. Hope you and fam are well.

Jamesbo, I'll trade ya. Mine are overflowing with Catalpa leaves and then covered in Snow and Ice. And the trees are still littering.

They are calling for a possibility of 20-30" of snow on Tuesday. Ugh.

John hope all your 10000 new neighbors are moderate.

Have a day all.

Good morning everyone.

Got back around 4 this morning. That's 25 hours on the road, 27 since sleeping. I set the alarm to wake me up so I wouldn't sleep until next week and miss picking up the dogs. The trip was for the most part uneventful. Two hours of Columbus rush hour yesterday evening and two hour plus waits in accident traffic just south of Columbus.

Sunny here but cold. I think it's finally time to call and have the gas turned on. It's about 54* in the house this morning.

Need to take the trailer to the car wash today and clean it off. Looked away for a second while driving and looked back to see a deer that had been hit and lying dead in the road. I couldn't go anywhere but right over it. The truck was tall enough it was fine but the trailer, eh, not so much. Yuck.

Gonna pick up the dogs now and see what else I can get into today. Happy Saturday everyone.

Good Evening All

1st frost down here but it didn't last long and turned out to be a beautiful day.

At work today I was sent to Maconga to scoop up two carts. Well that Kat had 3 Goats. A '66 droptop, a '67 (full race) and a stock "looking" Verdoro Green ''68 droptop with a 428 Poncho powerplant. He didn't have much to go on, so I informed him of the General's rule of 400 ci in the A-bodied cars. He seemed interested, so I told him I could decode the body tag for him when I got home. Turns out to be an Alpine Blue car with a black top. It did have the dual gate and a/c. He is very proud of it as he wants $38k

Anywho after work, I went to the Perry Swapmeet and saw a rusted out basketcase '72 Cutlass S with OAI 4-sale for $6800.00 Then another guy had a '36 Chebby Sedan Delivery streetrod for $100k

What has Barrett Johnson done to people's minds to think their pride and joy or plain junk is worth big $$$$?

Glad to hear you made it home ok Mike. Too bad about the deer. I've seen more fox run over this year than possum it seems. Remember Ole Beetlejuice from the swapmeet? Well he got a little karma salad this weekend

Good morning everyone.

Colder than a welldigger's heal this morning. Lots of frost. Need to call the gas company tomorrow and have them come out.

Scot I'm patently against Barrett Jackson and the rest of them as well, just for this very reason. People find this rusted out junk in their back forty and think it's gold, just because they saw "the exact same thing" on BJ. There was a fellow maybe a couple years ago, was selling a 54 Oldsmobile. Primer black, bizzare purple roof, ripped up interior, rusted out bumpers painted over, etc. He tried for months to sell this car on craigslist for 4K. Months. Then BJ comes on TV and a beautiful 54 Olds goes for stupid money, and then next thing I see is the guy with the shtty car has it up for 28K! In his description, you guys missed out on a bargain. Now that we know these cars go for that kind of money you'll have to pay up for this one. Ridiculous. That car finally disappeared from the listing, no clue whatever happened to it.

What did you do to Beetlejuice? Hey, he's just trying to do his job, even if the Gator golf cart gives him an inflated ego. I'm guessing he told someone to move their display because of all the traffic that's going to be driving behind them in the ditch, and he got punched in the mouth.

So last night around 8 I hear what sounded like gunshot. In my classy neighborhood that isn't unusual, but a few minutes later I hear sirens that are uncomfortably close to the house, look out and see all the flashing light, and the cops wrapping crime tape around my neighbors' mail box and stringing it down the street. I didn't get the whole story, mainly because the cops weren't telling it, but apparently the guy across the street went to the guy on the other side of my neighbor and got in his face, and the guy shot him twice. Guy across the street went to the hospital. Other guy sat in a police car for three hours.

Time for Awful house and Walmart. I'll take the trailer to the car wash when it warms up a bit. Have a good Sunday everyone.

Can't believe it's been a few days since I've posted. Scot is passing me up... need to get back in the swing. Welcome back, Scot. Glad to hear all's well mit U.

Thanks for the word to the wise, Jamesbo. Will break out the thermal skivvies before the trip.

Mike, that's funny... I didn't even know you took that trip to OH 'til just now. Glad you made it one piece, although the same can't be said for the hapless deer. At least it was down already. Hope the trailer recovered. Must've looked like Clint's blowed-up whale from 1970.

Clint, was that a '68 98 that was clobbered by the falling blubber? Ain't seen one of them on the street in decades. First year for the 455... a friend of my cousin had a 2-door one and I'd race her with my '73 88 (also 455) in my zany young days. I'd take her off the line, but she'd zoom past me by the time we hit 50 or 60. That thing was a terror on the top side. Hope that 20" of white stuff turns out to be more like 2". It's too early for a blizzard like that.

Dan, that looks like quite a scene there. Hope you guys are doing OK.

Whelpt, let me watch the end of the Saints funeral. Talk about a bunch of goats. Listening to Bobby Hebert's comments at the half, I feel vindicated that he, too, advocated launching Rob Ryan. Great, likable guy -- but we have NO defense. We were #31 after last week, and I think we'll be #32 after this week. We're right back where we were with Spags.

The bells are tollin'...

p.s.: I'm ready to declare the Saints the "Aint's" and don my paper grocery sack -- as we long-suffering fans did in the 80s.

All good here John, weather cleared up, and we had a nice sunny weekend, upper 40's yesterday, and upper 50's today, pretty good for mid November.

Sad day here in the Greater Stockbridge Area. My neighbor across the street died from the other neighbor shooting him last night. That guy went to jail but no one seems to know if he's still there. No one is home at his house.

My friend's wife called me this morning. She said she was with him and there was no altercation, no fighting. I can hardly imagine that but she's no liar, so I believe her.

How does one process a guy getting shot 100 feet from your house, and you know both guys. I never much cared for the one guy, but I was pretty close with the guy that died. My heart absolutely aches for his family. Senseless.

Okay enough happy stuff. I got the trailer all cleaned off. Getting ready to start up the stove so I can get a little heat in here. Had the fire going last night, it's one of the few things about cold weather I like, running that stove.

Work tomorrow. These four days went by way faster than they should have. Looks like I'll be driving the dogs' van to work this week. The Dodge van has a flat and the truck is still hooked up to the trailer. Everything else I could drive is blocked in by something and I won't have a chance to get something else ready until I'm off again. Well, it isn't going to hurt anything.

Have a good night everyone, hope your week starts out good.

Thanks for asking John,

Search is in my mind.. what do I want..
I am waiting to find the payoff from the insurance company and see how much of my loan is going to be left owing by me that will determine what I look for a car I may need to roll some of the loan into a new loan.

(I don't have gap coverage)

Hi everyone.

Nice day today, about 60, slept until about 1. I heard rain is coming in the next couple days. We had twelve days of rain, why can't we have twelve days of sun?

Jamesbo hope you whacked Whitey good today.

Not much else going on. Gonna get moving a little quicker tonight so I can go across the street and see my friend's wife. Their boys are coming in tonight, I want to get flight information. Found out my other neighbor is indeed home. He's all bruised up and said Tommy beat the snot out of him. Tommy's wife, who was there, said there were no arguments and the gun came out for no reason. My only hope is the police report finds the truth and is impartial.

We're having Thanksgiving dinner at work tonight. It's always a good meal. There's going to be another one Thursday but I'll be off.

So yes work tonight, it's Monday. Not being there for four days, it could be a whole different company than what I left.

Have a good night everyone.

Bracing ourselves

The "Big Front" is knocking at our doorsteps. Whenever they predict a weather situation for about a week, it usually fizzles out or is diminished greatly. We shall see. Spose to hit during the night here; it's still way over by Lake Charles.

Jamesbo, what's this thing with your quoting yourself? You had to jump thru a hoop or two to do that.

Dan, I've been pricing parts at the resto vendors for the GS. The numbers on my calculator are addin' up like the speedometer of the space shuttle. Cha ching is right. Right now, I'm looking for somebody to give the 50-y.o. Harrison radiator from the SF some TLC. It's in amazingly good shape; just has some crud growing on the tops of the tubes, etc. Might just need boiling out, but if I had somebody real good, I'd let 'em take it apart and rod it gently and put it back together. So I guess it depends on who I find. There are two local shops that still do old-fashioned radiator repairs, and I need to open communications.

Johnny, I'm colorblind and I think that's a beautiful color, too. Pretty car. My Dad had picked out an old Chrysler color for a "new" used car he bought in the early 80s and it reminds me of it. Kind of a dark metallic maroon?

Clint, sounds as if the weather prognosticators were overly pessimistic. I'm holdin' my breath for you guys. Not even Broncos fans deserve 20"

Speakin' of NFL, Sean Payton pushed the button last night and launched Rob Ryan and promoted Dennis Allen to Defensive Coordinator for the Saints. Sounds like a good move to me, at least on paper.

Dennis is a relatively young whippersnapper -- born the same year my GS came off the assembly line ('72). Let's hope he can at least stop the bleeding.

Also, I don't know what's up with the Hornets. They've started out like a wet dishtowel.. 1-9 thus far. Poor Tom Benson. Was hoping he could spend his final years with at least ONE winning team. (I use the term "poor" figuratively, of course.) But I liked the old (launched) Hornets coach a lot better than I like the new guy.

Whelpt, let me go feed my belly. Cleaned gutters today and then mowed the lawn, hopefully the last time for a good while.

Bushed & hungry.

Y'all have a dry one.

Hi everyone.

Saw too much of the day today. Got home late, because I was talking, and the dogs wanted to go out I think every hour. I got to where I could tell them to lay down and not even open my eyes. But ten minutes later here they were again. They were better than a snooze alarm.

Dan it will ride like a new car. I'm currently looking for a set of Aura full wheel covers. The ones on my Mom's car all the paint has come off and they look all splotched. I was going to paint them but I couldn't find any paint that I liked, that wouldn't be too shiny or too dull. New ones are 60 apiece. I might just do that.

Thanks Jamesbo. Not sure what their plans are yet. The oldest boy flies in tonight. I met the younger boy and his wife last night when their plane got in. He flew American and didn't I look funny with my Delta getup standing there.

Ah, time for night number 2. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Good Morning/Evening all,

Strange weather we have been having in London this November, really mild and even quite sunny apart from the past couple of days when two storms have blown through.
Weekend supposed to change though and get chilly.

Sold my DD, The Mitsubishi Raging Bull, really sad to see her go, been a great workhorse, awaiting delivery of my new Mitsubishi sometime today.

Mike, sorry to hear about the shootings near your home, must be awful for you and your neighbours.

Went to Wembley stadium last night to watch the football against the French and show a bit of solidarity with our neighbours. Seemed a bit strange to sing their national anthem instead the usual booing. Quite an emotional night.

HAVE A SAFE DAY ALL.

Mornin all.

London, Another Mits? Besides the Lancer Evo, I hardly see the 3 diamonds over here.Their market share keeps on falling around these parts. I think the Montero finally left a bad taste in everyones mouth.

Scot good to hear from you. Hope all is falling in line.

Mike, I need to do some paint searching myself. I have to squirt the case covers on the Suzuki motors I'm rebuilding this weekend. When I put the Stock steel wheels on the Yota I used a Gray Hammered aint. It turned out pretty good without sandblasting them even tho the wife was not impressed.

Jamesbo, I too don't understand the quote thing. Are you trying to be a bit eccentric? Who are the big Corporate places? and do you know of a greenerplace around here? I don't really want to look for that type of thing, but one never knows when their number may be called. The neighbor to the west of us (and 95% of the wind is eastbound) has a row of catalpa's Ugh. Just about everything is leafless now except our 2 big elms out front and the hedge. those are always the last to drop.
John, We had about 6" at the shop. and tons of moisture in this. Which is good cuz our trees can sure use it for the winter.

Have a humpday all.

Elise ere and me thinks John is fix'in to get hammered

Quote, I jes FU and sum how double my post and den deleted one

Corporate funeral Homes/ Cemeteries. There's a giant corporation SCI [Service corporation International] that own about 5000 funeral homes and cemeteries. They operate under the name "Dignity" When they buy a funeral home they keep the old [usually family] name and don't even change the wallpaper because they want you to go back to the home grand ma used. ONLY the price is higher [much higher] Because they are so large they get discounts on everything but instead of passing the savings on to the consumer, it goes to profits for stockholders

End of rant

London, Congrats on forgetting de hundred years war. I think it's time we all stuck together in this crazy world.

Mike, You're welcome. I [because I've studied this industry for years.] often end up advising people that don't use my cemetery. I just got off the phone with a college friend whose mom passed away in Miami. IMHO It's a subject no one wants to talk about therefore they don't know much about it and usually wait to the last minute and sometimes [see above rant] go to the wrong place and sometimes get taken advantage of in a weak confused state [end of rant 2]

Have a
GREAT day Olds friends and stay vertical

Mernin, all. Jamesbo, you wuz right; we got hammered during the night. Started around 11 and never let up. Some minor street flooding was encountered when I braved out the door around 6:30; but nothing the Fusion couldn't handle.

Good to hear from you, London. My paternal grandparents were French-speaking Cajuns and my Grandmother used to sing the French national anthem to us when we were kids. We got very good at making fun of it.Too bad kids is so dumb. It would have been just as easy for us to actually learn it. I truly sympathize with the folks in Paris who lost their lives and those who are otherwise affected. But the politicization of the event over here makes me want to turn off the TV indefinitely. It took two whole days for the event to seep into the Louisiana gubernatorial runoff slated for Saturday. To say these people (local and national) are opportunistic is quite an understatement. OK... 'nuff on (verboten) politics.

Clint, sure glad you guys were spared the bad stuff.

Y'all have a great Humpity, Oldsmofriends.

Hi everyone.

It just started pouring. It's early. I don't know why I think it's easier on the dogs if it starts raining after I've left for work. It's easier on me, because I hate leaving them when they are already afraid. It isn't going to last too long, but it's here now nonetheless.

Thanks you guys for the sentiments. I met my neighbors' youngest son at the gate last night. The other one flies in this evening but I won't be to work in time to meet him. Maybe with the storms his flight will be late. Service for Tommy is on Saturday. You know I've had enough of funerals for awhile.

Friday tonight. No idea what's in store, except I'm fairly certain the plane will be late and we'll be rushing till the end trying to still get it out on time. "Planning" is certainly a misnomer for that department. We could call them and say the plane was hours late, we're short people, and the umpteen items to be done are too much. Their response would be, and your point is? Instead of bidding on jobs and being stuck in them for years, we need to rotate through the various departments of maintenance so we have an idea what the rest of the company is doing, and don't get so tunnel-visioned.

Okay gotta try to get the dogs out, then hit the road. Happy Humpy to everyone. Have a good evening.

Good evening everyone.

The day after my last post I left for a week in Las Vegas. The trip was amazing. Drove some very scenic roads around Las Vegas and along Lake Mead. Took a drive out to the Grand Canyon but didn't make it all the way since a snow storm was coming in the next day and I decided to turn around and out run it. Also made it to a few cars shows in the area while I was there.

Back to a rush at work last week and the same this one.

Mike, sorry to hear about your neighbour.

Have a good day tomorrow everyone!

Mornin all.

Paul I would bet the canyon would be breathtaking after a snowstorm.

Had lots of wind yesterday, Lots of busted up cars and blown over semi's from it. I really dislike the wind.

Have a Thursday all.

Hi everyone.

You know how funny the doorbell sounds when you're sleeping? Oldest son from across the street just came by and I heard the doorbell and I thought I dreamed it. Nope. Really glad to see him, I didn't make meeting him at the gate last night.

Thanks Jamesbo the dogs did fine. We didn't get a huge storm on the southside. I didn't hear any thunder and it stopped raining at the airport by about 10. Sun is out now it's really nice out.

Paul I've never been to Vegas but would love to go some time. I was in the cockpit of a jetliner when we flew over the Grand Canyon at about 16000ft. Sounds really high but it seemed really low. Now -that- was breathtaking. Won't have that chance again.

Clint I don't like the wind, either. Tree parts come off and embed themselves into the roof. Besides that I have to keep chasing my car covers everywhere.

London how is the new car?

Well now that I'm up, it's time to get something done in this day. Actually if my neighbor wouldn't have stopped by I'd probably have slept all afternoon. Not sure what to do yet, everything is a muddy mess. I'll figure it out.

Have a good afternoon everyone.

Good evening everyone.

Another busy day, but although it was raining it was up to around 15*C today, so I won't complain.

Clint it probably would have been interesting to see the Canyon in the snow, but they were calling for 2-6" and had winter storm advisories in place. My rental car was a Camaro SS Convertible. I thought it might be better to avoid the snow.

On a previous trip to that area, I did drive a rental Altima in a decent snow storm near Flagstaff. I was doing well below the speed limit on the interstate and yet still was the fastest car out there. But I might have a bit more experience driving in the snow that most of them did.

Jim, it was the south rim. I made it as far as Williams before turning around. I've never been to the north rim.

Mike, I always like having a window seat when flying over that area.

Have a good Friday everyone!

[QUOTE=slantflat;873937]Hi everyone.

London how is the new car?

Morning All,

The new Mits L200 is a great bit of kit. There is a reason why its the most popular pick up in Europe.
Unfortunately the F150 was never going to be a hit over here unless it went on a diet, its way too fat to fit on our roads.
I will post a pic when I can.

getting chilly over here. Today will be the last day in my shorts, thats when I know that winter has arrived. I normally last out till its around 6*C,
saturday will be about 2*C when I get up for work. Sounds like time for a vacation!

Have a great day and keep safe.

Good morning everyone.

London I had to look up the Barbarian, it's a nice looking truck. Hope you get some good use out of it.

John I've got the French national anthem playing on youtube right now. It's like 5 minutes long. I tried singing along with the subtitles, but my French is a little rusty.

Gonna be another nice one, not sure what to do today. Change a tire on the Dodge for one.

Spent some time across the street yesterday afternoon before running a couple errands. Really nice to see those boys, I hate the reason they had to come back. Still lots of people coming and going. I hope the guy that shot Tommy sees every car going past his house.

God Save the Queen is playing now. I wouldn't have guessed that was the tune.

Okay have a good day everyone. Friday, hope everyone has good plans for the weekend.
