Norm we reached our number early yesterday but the guys kept building. So there were a lot ready for when we came in this morning. That will help us reach the number early again today, which will help us start out on Monday. The lead is here so there's no getting out early. But he likes to go home early, so I guess we can hope for that.

Chris - Sounds like you had a nice night at the arena.
Norm - I hope you get as much completed as feasible before the rain comes in, and that whatever rain you do get is not too severe. 🤞

Thanks! The best part was seeing how excited and pumped up Keegan was about just getting to be out there. I think I may have mentioned this before, but at the young age of 7, he's like our own little "Rain Man" of Sports. It doesn't matter whether it's Pro or College, Hockey, Football, or Baseball (his favorites), he knows all the team names, what cities they're in, and who their star players are. He's really rather amazing in that way.

Jim, Gateway 2000, later Gateway, shipped in the Holstein boxes. They didn't make it past 2010.

We are done signing for the day. You'd think we could get the hell out of Dodge. Nope. Gotta sit here for an hour and ten minutes, just because. Dumb. We'll walk out and the parking lot will be empty, because ITS FRIDAY AND EVERYONE ELSE LEFT EARLY.

So I'm looking at marketplace and I see a Valiant like mine, and it's 65000 dollars. I said whoa, that's some Valiant. The description was for an Imperial. I'm guessing the seller put up the wrong picture and didn't realize it. That could be why it hasn't sold in the 3 months it's been for sale. Funny.

Thanks Chris.

My plan right now is to mow and wash cars all weekend. Sounds like fun. Now that the grass really isn't growing I'm gonna cut everything and trim and trim some trees and get the yard ready to grow out next spring.

Rebuilt the last base of the last newel post. Managed to lay down butyl tape on ~1/3 of the joists.

Got in a run to the post office & the grocery store before this storm arrives. Supposedly 100% rain all day Sat & Sun w/ significant winds. Found my all time favorite treat this time of year - Taffy Apples - Peanut Caramel Apples, I love 'em.

Nice job on the deck Norm, that thing's going to be indestructible! 👍

I've been seeing on the news 6" to 7" of rain and winds of 50mph in your neck of woods, sounds like a very wet weekend. I hope you come through it unscathed! 🤞

I can take or leave the Candy or Taffy Apples, but I love the Caramel Apples, with or without Peanuts.

Chris, that must have been a blast for your grandson. Jim. good to know the surgery went well. Picked up the Olds, have to keep the top up for two weeks, and get it out in the sun as much as possible. Maybe I should have done it earlier in the year. 30% chance of rain tomorrow, mostly in the a.m., then clearing up. I still plan on going up to Pentwater, hopefully my buddy doesn't back out.

Dan - Yep, my grandson had a blast! As he was skating off the ice he went to one knee, executing a perfect 360° spin before popping back up on his skates and the crowd roared. Dawn got a video of him doing it, but I don't know how to change the format so I can post it on here? Special night for sure!

Glad you got your Old's back, I hope they did a great job for you!

One of my favorites, but I don't know if my stomach could take it right now?

I've always called it General Tso's chicken. First time I've tried this General Chang chicken - it comes w/ a large packet of sauce. I guess they name it General Chang because it's packaged/sold under P.F. Chang. I've eaten at a couple P.F. Chang restaurants over the years & they're decent enough. Yes, it's a Szechuan sauce although it isn't as spicy as I'd prefer. I prefer something closer to Hunan.

Norm - I've found that there can be a wide variation in the hotness of various Szechuan sauces. The Chinese place we usually frequent has a pretty spicy/hot Szechuan, but I always tell them to make it "extra spicy" to put it over the top. Like I said, probably wouldn't be a good choice for me right now though!

Good evening guys

It was a beautiful Fall like day here today, sunny and a high of about 72. It got down into the mid-40's last night, and down to 66 in the house. I broke down and started the gas fireplace to take the chill off because Dawn said she was freezing.

Didn't do a whole heluva lot today other than cleaning the wheels on the 4-4-2 and my lifting workout. I'm going to go to a cruise-in in the morning at the Classic Car Restoration Shop that sponsored our Old's Club's All Oldsmobile Show. I'm not going to stay too long, but I need to fill the car up anyway for a fairly long drive to a Show on Sunday morning, so I thought I'd drop in because I know some of the guys from my Club will be there.

Gabe has a game tomorrow night at 8pm we're going to. Sunday morning I'm headed to a Show at Ft. Kaskaskia St. Park near Chester, IL (the Birthplace of Popeye). It's 70-miles one way, certainly the farthest I've ever driven to get to a Show, but it looks like a good one and the weather is supposed to be sunny and low-70's.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

The highest winds & greatest rainfall are beginning to occur. For all practical purposes this is a tropical storm. The highest tide of the year, King Tide, is 12:15am, tonight (Sunday morning). The greatest amount(s) of rainfall is expected from now until 12:15am, tonight. It's a Saturday night & many drivers likely won't expect/anticipate these conditions when leaving restaurants/saloons & the like. It's so easy to plow into a flooded roadway. I'm settled in for the long haul, cleaning, laundry, cleaning & cleaning. Toss in the occasional meal.

Hi everyone.

Norm batten down the hatches. A friend of mine told me once he was driving his ratty VW Bus in the rain and hit a large dip in the road. Like going under a train bridge. It was full of water. He plowed into the water and could see his headlights under water. Just then the front popped up and he drove through the water doing a wheelie, and got to the other side and kept driving.

Now I would never call my friend a liar, but there are several discrepancies in this story. This man was 300 pounds, so there would be no buoyancy to the Bus. And if that were the case, that puts the engine, which is in the back, fully under water and the last I looked an internal combustion engine doesn't run on, nor can it breathe, water. I suspect he was being accompanied by his friend Mary Jane.

Been out doing various chores this afternoon. Did some trimming around the front of the house, also tightened the alternator belt on the Suburban. Also did two loads of laundry and had lunch with my friends at Awful house.

Chris how was the cruise in this morning? Hope Gabe has a good game tonight.

Just about time to head to Mom's. I called her and said I'd be a little later and she said that's okay. We must be having leftovers for dinner. That's fine with me, it was good the first time it will be good now.

Okay have a good evening everyone.

Mike - I believe your story has merit - I suspect Mary Jane significantly influenced your friend's story. Appears you got a lot in today. I'm having leftovers, as well - the remainder of that General Chang chicken but I did whip out my Sriracha sauce to liven up the party (sauce), Mahatma brown rice & a nice broccoli crown. One Peanut Caramel Apple remains & some rice pudding for dessert.

Chris, the top looks good, I had several compliments on it. I had a guy stop and talk to me three times because he had a '72 Supreme when he was young. He really hinted that he wanted my car. Some pics from the show. https://photos.app.goo.gl/WgieBuUNAbDCSZ5d8

We've been spared any significant/torrential rainfall in my area. The winds are incessant - constant 40 mph gusting to 60 mph maybe higher. The system is moving North at a snails pace.

Mike - Thanks for asking. The cruise-in was nice, weather was perfect. There wasn't a ton of cars there, maybe 40 or so. I only stayed between 9am when it started until noon. It was suppossed to go on until 4pm. I'm glad I went because 3 of my closest friends from our Old's Club showed up I could visit with.

Also thanks for the well wishes for Gabe. Unfortunately, it was not one of his or his team's better games so far and they got clobbered 4-0. Gabe seemed to have no juice out on the ice. Gabe is a kid that has to be on the go all the time. I've tried to explain to him that he can't go like a madman all day long and expect to play well when he has a game at 8pm at night, but he's 12 and it goes in one ear and out the other. It's the same kind of thing about getting him to eat a decent high carb meal a couple hours before a game. He doesn't understand the importance of rest and decent food in preparation for a game.

Good morning guys,

Set my alarm this morning for 0600 as I already had my car loaded and planned to head out for the Car Show shortly after daylight. After I got up I could see it was extremely foggy and everything was wet. After the sun came up you couldn't even see 20-yds. The fog is just now burning off and it's almost 0930. I could still get down there before Registration closes, but now I'm not feeling it and I'm just going to bag it and stay home. Maybe I'm starting to feel Car Show burn out, or just feeling guilty there are other things I need to get done like mowing.

Hope everyone has a great day! 😃

Chris - I'm not aware of any localized flooding in my area. As I said, we didn't receive any of the predicted 5" - 7". We may have been lucky to squeak out 2". I gave up counting the number of branches & limbs laying about my landscape. I think this system has split into two systems. The bottom half has remained just South of me near Myrtle Beach/Wilmington while the Northern system which was expected to dump unprecedented rainfall into North Virginia, New York, etc. appears to be moving offshore now. I don't know - it just looks that way.

At least in a hurricane you know the winds are going to end eventually after the 100mph winds subside as the hurricane passes. Even though these winds are not hurricane force, they've been a complete & utter nuisance.

Norm - I'm glad you didn't get the super heavy rain originally predicted, but it sure sounds like you'll have your hands full cleaning up limbs/branches. Sorry it piles more on your plate with the porch work going on!

Thanks for the extra info! I was gonna ask you what year it was. I was gonna guess a '67, but taking a 2nd closer look I see it has an identifying license plate on the front saying it's a '65. Cool car!

My initial assessment suggests I'm going to need to rent a boom/lift to remove several large branches.
