It's been a pretty good day today. Didn't do much other than doing my lifting workout, which always seems to be a formidable mental challenge anymore.
Got a text from my daughter Blaire letting us know Gabe has a Band Concert tomorrow evening at 6:30. We'll be going despite the short notice. Frankly, between Hockey, Scouting, making sure the boys do their school work, and having a demanding job, I don't know how my daughter keeps up with all of it. She's a pretty amazing Mom and I'm damn proud of her!
The Chiefs are on Monday Night Football so that's my plan for later. I hope everyone had a great day and has a relaxing evening! 😃
My go-to pain reliever has always been AcetylSalicylic Acid (ASA), commonly known as Aspirin. It still remains my #1 pain reliever. I'm not much on any drug, to be honest. I take them when/if needed. I've taken maybe a dozen Tylenol this year total (650 mg ea). I might have taken maybe 30 Aspirin this year.
Good on you Norm, that's great you've been able to get by taking no more than that! 👍
I went out this morning to check the oil in the 4-4-2 after having it out 3 or 4 times since the last oil level check. As it turned out, after checking the mileage, I've driven the car exactly 900-miles so far this season. The oil level was down only 2/3 of a Qt. I topped it off and I should now be good thru the rest of the season.
Got my bi-annual dental checkup Thursday morning, and then my younger grandson Keegan has his big Hockey Exhibition in-between Periods of the StL Blues home opener on Thursday evening. Car Shows Saturday and/or Sunday. Gabe has a hockey game Saturday evening that I'm definitely going to. Plenty to keep me busy!
Chris - Thanks. All done. All good. Nothing more than a band aid. 👍
Awesome, that's great news! 👍 I just got a call from my Sister letting me know her partner (Jerry) of many years was just diagnosed as cancer free for now after a recent in-depth check-up and scan in his battle with skin melanoma. Super happy for the two of them!

Is that three dishes in a row Norm? Looks good. Chris, glad to hear the good news on your sister's partner. Great moon shots. Top replacement is inching up in price. They found rust at the top of the drivers A pillar, under the trim. As it is surface rust, though a bit heavy (I saw it yesterday), they will take a wire wheel to it and then apply a rust converter/sealer to it. At the front of the top, it has attachment points where to fabric is stapled to a headliner under the rubber seal, and at the rear most attachment point, there is a channel, both of these areas are rough and will be taken care of as well.
Dan - Two dishes (of same) in a row. Sounds like the shop performing the top renovation is doing an excellent job - I like guys who go the extra mile to ensure quality work.

I agree with Norm, sounds like the shop you chose to do the work is trying to do it right where you shouldn't ever have to worry about it again. As for the cost inching up, you can't take it with you, and you should get many years of enjoyment out of it. I'm very happy for you that you found a very nice car that you really seem to be enjoying so far! 👍
The shop has been around awhile, I was thinking 75 years, but I was a bit off, since 1912!
Wow, that's something! I wonder if it's been in the same family all that time? You're lucky, those kind of places are getting fewer and far between with each passing day!
Norm obviously solved it 1st, but it was easy to find. I just Googled "Automotive convertible tops and upholstery near Muskegon, MI" and it popped right up.
I spent the weekend at the Newport Hill Climb. That is a juggernaut of an event and is still moving solidly. Saw several friends, rode up the hill in a firetruck twice. I took my van and parked it at the show to the side for much better parking than out in the field. My friends drove their model A. I need to get a hill runner. Most classes are anything 1942 and older. There is a discontinued makes class of anything 1955 and older of a make discontinued by 1970, as in Packards, Hudsons, Studebakers, Henry J, Kaiser, De Soto and some others. A 55 Studebaker Commander with a V8 might have a shot at its class record and haul me up from Evansville and back just fine. There's not much, but some, tolerance of cheating; stock classes are supposed to be stock, and only the modified model Ts, the speedsters, can modify. They inspect with the hood up, but you can do things. There were superchargers back then. I need to do some research.
Drove up Friday and my friend calls me and tells me they're getting drowned in the neighboring town and I was in Terre Haute and hot and dry. Saw the storm coming, got the windows up. Moved through a biblical storm and hid in a car wash. Spent three nights in an air bnb, and went to the festival Sat and Sun. Drove home Monday. Checked out my grad school, then went by grandma's house, which is slowly being renovated. Great aunt's house was also being renovated, surprisingly. Went by the cemetery to check on everyone, then drove the hundred and some home. Lots of miles on the green machine in a week.
Google Search
Read their website "About" page, which matched your description/history of how long they've been in business, located their "Convertible Tops" section & it all added up...
I have ~8 or 9 blocking boards to install which will finish installation of blocking boards, then rebuild the deck perimeter which includes new supports for several newel posts. Back & legs feel much better this morning after taking off yesterday for the Mohs surgical procedure. Installation of the blocking boards (as previously described) is the most physically demanding simply because of the repeated up-over-down repetitive motions at a confined height of ~3' - like managing numerous sets of hurdles. Prior to rebuilding the perimeter I'll pull a couple of lines across the decking structure/frame & make any last adjustments to true up the support frame to level.
Dan, sounds like you got a excellent place to do your top. I had Stewarts in Eaton Rapids do mine prolly 30 years ago-(wow)-- Glad they found the rust and are dealing with it. Was it under the stick on vinyl?

John - The Hill Climb sounds like a fun event, and would be really fun if you had a vehicle to enter as you suggested. You had a nice weekend for it. The "Green Machine" is serving you well! 👍
Jim - What in the hell is so special about having a Bull Dog you have to step over in the doorway? I have to do that at my place 50-times a day!
Norm - Glad your back and legs are feeling better after a day off. Keep on, keepin on! 👍
Dawn and I went to Gabe's Jr. High Band Concert last night and it was nice. They sounded pretty darn good for Jr. High kids, I was impressed. It was difficult to get good pictures of him with his music stand in the way but I tried. He did put his stand down for 10-seconds so we could get one good pic of him.
Finished block boards. Elected to take the afternoon off. Mowed half the yard. Local pizza for lunch. I’ll get at finishing last minute leveling hopefully tomorrow if it doesn’t rain.

You're moving right along, I'm sure you're happy to have those damn blocking boards behind you! Nice job! 👍
What is the most mazing about Gabe is his multi talent. Me, I flunked recorder in gramar school and still have zero musical talent Last time I had on a pair oof ice skates [6th grade] I got 20 stiches in my head Chris I'm sure you are proud
