Oh my, those look really good! I chose to live on the wild side again tonight getting takeout for Dawn and I at Taco Bell. No "Fire Sauce" though, I opted for Mild.
Took the SRX to the emission place today. Fail. I can't say that I'm surprised. But the new computer that was supposed to be cloned from the old one was supposed to be the end all of my problems.
Chris I'm glad Keegan had a good day and good games. Is the bullying still going on? When I was 6 about the only thing I had to worry about was whether I wore a shirt one day or two.
Mike - Sorry the refurbished computer didn't solve the emissions problem with the SRX, that really sucks!
Too early to tell about the bullying on the School Bus yet. My daughter and SIL had a joint meeting with the Superintendent of Schools, Keegan's School Principal, and the Bus Director, the result is the Bus Drivers are supposed to implement assigned seating on all buses as of today, with the youngest kids upfront and the oldest in the back. This system was already supposed to be in effect, but apparently some Driver's didn't seem to feel it was necessary. The Superintendent of Schools insured my daughter Blaire that the assigned seating will be implemented, monitored, and enforced as of today, and if there were any more problems with the bullying he wanted to know immediately. Time will tell???
The only solution to bullies is to fight hard and dirty. Get him some slightly weighted winter gloves and tell him to go for the knees and nuts. Zero tolerance means you get the same punishment no matter what, so he might as well go own some souls if he's going to do the time.
Here we are at Big D. I'm leaving at 10 today. Things have started out well, hope they continue.
John I think you are spot on. Work here has the same mentality. You could be sitting minding your own business but if someone comes up and hits you you both get fired. WTF. I grew up with that kind of mentality. Something would happen and I'd say I didn't do anything, and Mom would say, you must have done something. Go down fighting. But it's a good thing that Keegan is keeping himself in check.
Norm I don't run red lights as a matter of habit. Yesterday slow *** people just would not speed up for the yellow and I was tired of waiting for them. I'm sure that's taught in drivers education here. Make sure the guy behind you can't make the light. The red lights around me drive me mad anyway. They are timed so every car has to stop at every light. Or in rare instances, the light is green for one direction when there are no cars, or people who haven't even left the house yet will make the light while cars pile up for the other direction. There's a light in a neighborhood I drive through to get to Mom's, and at 4am I have to stop for the red and I'm sure there haven't been any cars through the intersection for hours. I could go on. I won't. It boils my blood.
So today some guys are coming to put down laminate floor at Mom's. I bought this flooring in July, and finally decided I wasn't going to do the work. They will take up what's left of the carpeting, take off the baseboard, put down the floor, put back the baseboard. And a couple other small tasks. I'm paying handsomely for it, but I know they'll do a good job and I won't screw it up. Hence leaving work early. Tiger is at home and I don't want him by himself for 12 hours. He is capable ordinarily of staying by himself that long, he probably doesn't like it, but he's been taking medicine that makes him have to go potty a lot, and it's not fair to ask him to try to. And if he can't, he really feels bad and just doesn't know how to act when I come home. I'm not putting him through all that. Besides I get to leave work early, yay.
Okay got some wheels. Hope everyone has a good day.
Mike, back when I was just 16 I bought a junker '68 full size Pontiac with a 400 w/Quadrajet 4BBL. Friend and I turned over the air cleaner lid and took it for a ride. We came up to a light as it turned yellow, floored the old car to make it thru the light- ROARRRR! Yep cop right there and got pulled over... Since then I always stop for yellows- does yellow mean caution - red is coming? or caution- hurry up- red light is coming?? Well I don't drive much in a big city- Sorry. just had to say it....
Mike - I get it about the traffic lights. I recall your discussions RE: laminate flooring this past spring/summer. I'll bet it turns out nicely - good luck. We're having same type weather you had yesterday here today - DANK. I might venture into the man-cave to begin removal/disassembly of engine parts; 20 mph - 30 mph winds & light rain.

John - Generally I'd agree with you. However, and you probably just missed this point, these are 5th and 6th graders picking on a 2nd grader.
Local Granny Arrested After Whooping Entire Family for Child’s Bad Behavior
Griffin, GA — In a stunning display of generational justice, 78-year-old Ethel Mae “Big Mama” Delacroix was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after allegedly whooping not just a misbehaving child, but the child’s parents as well — citing “failure to raise that baby right.”
Witnesses say the incident began at the Ingles, when a 6-year-old reportedly knocked over a pyramid of canned yams while screaming “I hate vegetables!” Big Mama, who was browsing the dented goods aisle, sprang into action.
“She snatched that boy mid-tantrum like a hawk grabbing a field mouse,” said cashier Loretta Jean. “Then she turned to the parents and said, ‘Y’all next.’ I ain’t never seen a triple whooping before.”
Security footage shows Big Mama delivering swift, synchronized discipline: one slipper to the child, one purse swing to the dad, and a stern finger wag followed by a shoulder shake for the mom. The entire ordeal lasted only minutes and ended with Big Mama calmly returning to her cart and selecting a can of creamed corn.
Police arrived shortly after and arrested Big Mama for “assault with a slipper and excessive wisdom.” Officers reportedly struggled to cuff her as she lectured them on respect, parenting, and the proper use of cast iron skillets.
“She told me my badge was crooked and my posture was weak,” said Officer Timmy Ray. “I apologized.”
Big Mama was released on her own recognizance after the judge — her former Sunday school student — recused himself, citing emotional trauma and a lingering fear of wooden spoons.
The child’s parents have since enrolled in a six-week “Parenting with Purpose” course, while the child has reportedly started saying “Yes ma’am” and eating green beans voluntarily.
Big Mama remains unapologetic. “If y’all won’t raise your kids, I will,” she said from her porch, sipping sweet tea.
I'm pretty sure this is fake, but it's a good read.
Cool and gray here, it's only supposed to get up to about 55°. Dry during the day today, but another big wave of rain coming in this evening that's supposed to last thru all day tomorrow, possibly leading to localized flooding since the ground is already saturated. I don't doubt our back way out of the subdivision will be underwater at some point.
As much as I hate it, it's that time of year when I need to start evaluating healthcare plan options (regular for Dawn and Medicare Advantage for me) available to Federal Retirees and their dependents. The only thing I know for certain yet is that it will all go up in price more than the 2026 2.8% COLA for my retirement Annuity. I'm not bitching, I'm thankful I even have an Annuity and get a COLA at all, because there are so many that don't.
No big plans for today. Hope everyone has a great one! 😃
Really slow, yet relaxing getting motivated this morning. Lots of cleaning/organizing in man-cave. Likely removing a couple things not necessary to get to the IPC sensor. Since I’m not a certified card carrying Ford diesel mechanic I’ll just deal with it. Air filter housing and coolant degas bottle removed. Slow & patient.
Removed four hold-down bolts for the FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module). Best not push my luck so I'll wait to disconnect/remove the fuel injector plugs from the FICM until tomorrow when my head is more clear.
It's been cool all day here, and overcast. No rain, though. I think more tomorrow. I'm not claiming this. Over the summer when the heat was so oppressive I never once said, gee I can't wait for the cooler weather. But I know a lot of people did. So this is on them.
The floor guys are about half done with the living room at Mom's. It looks nicer than I thought it would. The main guy is about my age-ish and said he's going to retire and go back to Mexico. I hope he waits until he does all my projects...
I think my insurance is going up about 9 bucks a month next year. I haven't signed up for insurance for years. I always get the same thing and if I don't do anything it automatically chooses what I had last time. So I'm good.
So the house is all torn up and there's only one chair to sit in, and Tiger stayed home today, so I left Mom's and came home. We had a couple errands to run and then hit the Awful house. I think I'll just go to bed. Tiger will want to get up in the night so if I get an extra hour on the front side I'll be happy.
I got a wonderful surprise this afternoon. Gabe called me after he got home from school and asked if I could come over after they were done with dinner. He said he had a surprise for me. When I got there he gave me this, and told me he wanted me to be able to wear it since I was his biggest fan. I tearful moment for me for sure!
This is his home jersey he just grew out of at 12-yrs old, but is plenty big for me to wear over a couple of other long sleeve shirts!
I would wear that jersey for three reasons. Normally, I think wearing another man's name is being unmanly, but, 1, it's yours, and 2, he gave it to you, and 3, it's real gear.
Big difference from wearing some Tom Brady jersey you bought.

Thanks John! I love all my grandkids, but Gabe is the only one that will carry on my family name and that means alot to me. I told Gabe that whenever he is done playing for the Sharks that I would return it to him so he can pass it down to one of his kids if he wants to. He played alot of spectacular games in that jersey, and I'm sure it means alot to him. Until then, I'll wear it proudly!
Along these lines, after my Senior year of playing football at Albion College, the Seniors were given the opportunity to purchase their game jerseys for a nominal fee, both home and away. I bought both, and Gabe and Keegan will each get one some day. I really should give Gabe his now, he's big enough to wear it!
