$1,700 will buy lots of Razzleberry pie & Vanilla ice cream.

Thanks Norm! The only real issue right now is that with the smaller, lower caloric meals, I haven't been able to put much weight back on, only 2lbs. I'm sure I'll be able to put on a few lbs more with time. Your dinner sounds alot more tasty than mine! 😉

Chris - Nice one on Humble Pie. I thought of Thirty Days In The Hole a couple times this past week - always enjoyed that song & Humble Pie in general, especially the early days when we all thought Frampton was going to be a member.

Norm - I always liked their sound, and especially that particular song, but I honestly don't know their volume of work very well. I certainly didn't know that Frampton was close at one point to being a member! Learned something new, thanks!

Chris - I sorta had a head start on some of my music peers in H.S. As you might recall I was an exchange student in Europe summer of 1969. Our last stay was two weeks in London & I made a whirlwind tour of it - saw the original cast theatrical performance of 'Hair" (Shaftesbury Theatre), caught Ian Hunter (Mott the Hoople) & Ian Anderson (separately, different nights) at local street discotheques in Piccadilly Circus. I never saw Humble Pie. Saw The Thomas Crown Affair at a local theater on Oxford Street (Westminster). I was always a Steve McQueen fan. OK, enough of my chattering.

Herb crusted Pork tenderloin
Herb crusted Pork tenderloin. I boiled the sliced taters until tender, then browned them in the same pan that I used for the tenderloin.

McQueen apparently had a hell of a garage and would routinely fire up something ungodly at 2am for a drive.

I am tempted to say "I am reminded of the last line of "Papillon" in my farewell retirement notice to my peers here in a few years.

Good morning everyone.

A little crisp out, but when I left for work there was a sky full of stars. Very pretty. My friend in Florida says it's raining there. Good place for it.

I would call our trip to the veterinarian a success. The doctor looked Tiger up and down and is assured it's a skin allergy. I gave her the whole rundown. She looked up on the computer and said he was on Prednisone in December. I had forgotten. So she gave him some of that and an antibiotic because some of the places he was chewing were infected. Got out for under 200 bucks. I expect great things from this medicine.

You know what's funny, I always felt loyal to State Farm. They've done me well over the years with claims and whatnot, heck I cleaned up with that hail storm we had several years ago. But their rates are going up and up, and I read that insurance companies will boost your rates sky high because they know you won't change. Well State Farm can go jump in the lake. I started insuring my old stuff with Hagerty, and now the Suburban is insured with Progressive. If that doesn't work out I'll change again.

Jamesbo to answer your question, I came to the Atlanta area for my job. I worked on the ramp at O'Hare and at the time I got my A&P license there were no maintenance opportunities there. So I packed up and moved for mecca. The town I live in, or actually the unincorporated county area, I chose because all the neighbors are nice, there is no crime, and I hope I haven't just jinxed us, and it's nice and quiet.

Think I'll take a walk down to the roll up door before break is over. Hope everyone has a great day.

Thanks Jim! Learned the hard way I can't keep treating my body the same way I did when I was younger. A BLT sure sounds good about now!

Jim - I was getting out of Graduate School at Bowling Green State Univ. in Ohio in 1983 with my Masters Degree in Geology with a focus in Petroleum Geology. I had 5 or 6 interviews with major oil companies, all of which offered me positions, but the catch was I would have to go to a location in the Middle East or Eastern Africa. This was because due to the price of oil at the time, none of these companies were doing any new domestic drilling. Despite some of these offers being fairly lucrative, I said thanks, but no thanks!

It just so happened that in the Spring of '83 a recruiting representative from the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency came to the Bowling Green Campus to give a recruiting pitch. They basically told us at the briefing that the Agency produced a wide variety of types of mapping, charting, guidance, and intelligence data for the DoD and other Intel Agencies, but couldn't provide specifics because that information was classified. They told us that because the types of things they did were so advanced and specialized, the first thing we would do if we got hired, would be to go to their own internal school for 6-months, and that they were just looking for students who had strong science, math, or computer skills because those disciplines were generally the best fit for the types of work performed. The description of the work intrigued me, and I put in an application and was hired starting in August of '83. I was offered a position at either the Headquarters in Washington D.C., or their secondary location in St. Louis. I did some homework on cost of living, etc. before choosing St. Louis and never looked back. It became the only "real" job I ever had, working there 35-years until I retired in 2018.

Mike - I'm glad you had a decent visit to the Vet, and I hope the meds provide significant relief to Tiger very soon! 👍

Thanks Chris. I just talked to Mom and she said she noticed he seemed more alert, and his eyes are clearer. I thought great, the medicine is working and it hasn't even been 24 hours. This medicine makes him pee a lot so I wanted Mom to be sure to let him out often.

Work is going smoothly, despite the lead being here. Yesterday when I was gone we got a new printer. We being me and the guy that sits across from me, we share the printer. Now, the idea years ago was that we would each get our own printer. The machine we got is brand new and I'm sure very advanced, but it's a behemoth and I can't even reach the copies when they come out, and I can't see when they come out. If the company were actually in tune with our needs there's no telling what we could accomplish.

Got done with college in TN. Vanderbilt does not help with any jobs other than consulting in Atlanta. So, I applied to grad school at Rose-Hulman where my granddad had went and I had my grandmother still in town. Finished that, got a job with Toyota national level, and, after the training program, picked the plant near Evansville so I could hang out with her some. She's gone, masters is done, I'm still here.

I like southern Indiana as it is warmer than middle Indiana, and isn't politically backward like IL or OH or weird like Kentucky.

Papillon, a classic. I watched it again about three months ago. The remake ain't half bad either. Mike, I had State Farm for a couple of decades, thier rates were getting ridiculous, changed a few years ago, cutting my rates by about $1100.00 a year. My dad's family was from Wisconsin, then Montana, and finally Alaska in 1938, where I was born. My mom was from Fennville. Mi. a farming community about 50 miles south of here. Work was scarce in Alaska after the war where my dad drove a fuel truck while in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He became a salesman, going around the country, met my mom in Detroit, went back to Alaska for nine years, left in the spring of '57, and I'm guessing with some influence from my mom, plus job apportunities, settled here. There was a recession around 1960 and he and a buddy went to S.Dakota, Wyoming, and back to Alaska looking for work. If successful in finding a job in any of those states, my upbringing would have been different for sure.I remember him coming home at that time from the search, when I was about 3-4 years old. They pulled up to our house in a '50 Ford Woody wagon.

I think Papillon, the novel, was the 2nd book I read which was later produced as a movie. Absolute classic movie. The Old Man and The Sea was the 1st book I read which was later produced as a movie (Spencer Tracy), another absolute classic movie.

Agree, both movies are classics. I have always been a big McQueen fan too, and Papillon is certainly one of his many iconic roles, but let's not forget how brilliant Dustin Hoffman was as Louis Dega in the same movie. What a duo!

The Olds Man and the Sea, reminds of a movie of a few years ago, In The Heart of The Sea, pretty good. How the story of Moby Dick apparently originated.

Good morning everyone.

Ah, Friday. Been a busy morning. I had a stack of about 20 wheels to start with, and by the time I finished, 2 hours later because my wall guy gave me wheels all along, I had 40. It was kind of a rush, if paperwork can give one a rush.

Jamesbo that's probably where the term "child rearing" came from.

I was on a bus tour of Nashville one time, and we drove past Vanderbilt University. Inside the fence was a bunch of empty streets with one house in the middle. The driver said the university bought the whole neighborhood so it could expand but this one old woman wouldn't sell. They eventually offered her a million and she said no. Her children tried to have her declared incompetent. The judge reviewing their case asked the woman why she wouldn't take a million for her little house. The woman said she had no need for the money and that's where she lived her life and raised her family and it was worth more to her to keep living there. The judge found her to be delightful and said she was fine, and they all came to the agreement that she could live out her years in the house, and then the university would get her entire estate, the children got nothing. Might have just been a tall tale, but it was a pretty good one.

Tiger did great all day yesterday, did great all night, and hopefully continues today. After only two doses of medicine his spots are clearing up and he isn't licking or scratching. I'd call that a miracle. I was really worried about him.

So this weekend I want to go to Florida and look at a truck. Yes we have trucks in Atlanta but I can't find a long bed that will do. This one will do a lot of work for me and then be parts donor to my black truck.

Well have a good weekend everyone. After work this afternoon I've got a couple errands to run and maybe a little yard work.

Good evening guys,

Summer is still here in these parts, bright sunshine and a high of 91° today. Kept pretty busy most of the day. Did a little cleaning on the 4-4-2 and loaded it in preparation for a Show in Columbia, IL in the morning. Then around 10am I did my lifting workout. After I was done with that I rested about an hour and hydrated, then went out to mow around 1pm, finishing around 3. Came in, got a shower and started cooking some dinner. Scrambled Eggs, avocado, and 2 blueberry bagels. Getting pretty tired of the Scrambled Eggs as a way to get my protein, but they're on the bland list and don't upset my stomach.

Gabe has a game tomorrow afternoon that unfortunately I will miss, but he has another one Sunday morning at 0830 that I'm going to. Between the Car Show, Gabe's game, and mixing in some college and NFL football games, it should be a very enjoyable weekend.

I hope everyone had a great day and has a great weekend!

Good morning everyone.

Slept in until almost 8! Had a quick breakfast, went to my airport and saw the neighbors, then went to Lowes and bought a chainsaw. It's a toy, actually, only 18 inch bar. The Craftsman 20 was 250 buck, and the 18 was 199. The current price for the Rancher like mine is 499! I thought they might have pull cord assemblies, but no.

Thanks Greg, and thanks everyone for the nice words about Tiger. I'd say he's cured already, but has several days of medicine to go and he will get it faithfully. This isn't something I want to recur.

Hope you enjoy the show Chris. Maybe not at 90, but the temps should be more bearable and enjoyable getting into this time of year. How'd you do this summer with your umbrella chair?

Got some chores to do today, it's beautiful out so I might try to fire up the new saw. Not doing overtime Monday because I won't be home tomorrow and we need to go shopping, etc. Eh, I don't mind, it's only money.

Okay have a good day everyone.

Well, the Olds is in the shop getting a new top, and hopefully I'll have it by next Friday, as Pentwater is the 11th. I was busy today until noon, having breakfast with friends (stories from the past). I'll be watching the Michigan game in a minute. We need to get that kid from St. Louis up here for a get together.
