The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
next week when we have a local cruise in.
Chris , should you stop motorcycle riding ?
I remember Chris Witt. He was killed in Lansing when I was working in Lansing, I also sold him and his brother a old 88 w/ a 455 back in the 80's- though i didn't know who he was-( they gave me a "Rocket Science" hand out).
Hi Glenn - I believe what you're asking is, have I stopped riding my motorcycles? The answer to that question is yes, I have stopped riding my motorcycles because my hip pain is so severe in a riding position. It is not comfortable, safe, or fun for me to ride anymore because of the condition of both of my hips. ☹
Good morning everyone.
Beautiful morning and boy did I sleep good last night. It was rather busy at work. The usual Friday skeleton crew was reduced because a number of people had blue flu. I was the only mechanic and I signed 100 wheels. The whole place really humped it. After work I pulled a bunch of weeds and moved some firewood. I was tired after dinner and didn't stay at Mom's too long.
Gonna work on the truck today. Leaving smashed bugs on the paint is a bad idea, as they are acidic and will etch the paint. So the truck gets a good wax job and I'm also gonna change the oil.
Well better get to it. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Chris I took too long to post. Perhaps it's time to speak with the surgeon? I know you get injections now and again and that helps, but if you have pain that keeps you from doing the things you enjoy, then that pain is ruling you and it shouldn't. That's exactly why I had surgery. I made excuses and altered my life to avoid or reduce pain. I had one cortisone injection and it worked for exactly one day. It got to the point I couldn't work on cars, couldn't work around the house, and when I passed on Australia I said enough is enough. Best thing I ever did.
So that's my unsolicited opinion.

I have already spoken with a well respected Orthopedic Surgeon and explored my options. Right now each of my hips are "graded" at a Level of 3, with 0 being no Arthritis and 4 being the worst Arthritis, exhibiting 1 or more places within the hip joint having bone on bone contact. The Surgeon told me they do not like to do hip replacements in people my age because of the potential for me to need another one again later in life. This doesn't mean they won't do one if I deem that my condition is getting so bad that I can't do normal tasks without extreme pain. I also have not exhausted the option of intense physical therapy yet. It's complicated, but to try and make this answer short, the pain I am experiencing right now is not due to bone on bone contact in the joint itself, but due to inflammation of the Bursa Sac located in the joint. The Bursa Sac is becoming inflamed because of the instability in the joint, and my active lifestyle (read in, working out). Although a long shot, there is the possibility that long term, intense Physical Therapy could relieve or significantly reduce the chronic inflammation I have of the Bursa Sac on each side. I don't want to go the route of trying PT until after July when I'll be needed to get Gabe to/from his all day, week long hockey camps during 2 separate weeks that month. Sorry for the long answer, like I said it's complicated.

And hope you can get some help with the inflamed bursa sac , i remember the pain my wife had.
But her hip joint got infected so they need to flush out something ( don´t know the english word for it )
The hip joint got damaged by the infection so they needed to replace it , there was some talking from
the doctors that she was to young for a replacement but she said that it was better to get rid of the
pain now when she is active rather than sitting in a elderly care with a new hip.
When I get rid of the bikes I am going to take my time and look into getting a 2nd classic car. I won't get a 2nd classic car unless I find one that really sets my heart on fire, and is still within my price range.
Applied 2,4 D to the lawn beginning @ 6:30am. First time trying 2,4 D on centipede. We’ll see how it does. Developed some form of air leak on the LH tire of the drag behind liquid sprayer which I’m about to address shortly but I’m getting hungry.
Good luck with the application Norm, hope it works well for you! Hope the tire is OK?
Hi guys,
I was hoping to run down to the cruise-in at Culvers in Festus this evening around 4pm, but it rained pretty hard on me on the way home from Gabe's Roller Hockey game around 12:30pm. Guess we'll see if the roads dry out. Gabe's team won 8-2, and he had 2 goals and 2 assists.
Hope everyone is having a great day! 😃

Sorta beat-up my A$$ wondering about attempting to locate a wheel & tire for my 20 gal. tow-behind liquid applicator. I went to ~6 different locations. Wore the $hit out of me fighting traffic & running around each store. Came home & w/in ten minutes found the exact match on-line @ eBay. Drained 16 quarts of dirty diesel engine oil, R&R OEM Motorcraft oil filter, filled w/ 16 quarts fresh Valvoline Heavy Duty Synthetic Blend 15W-40 Diesel Engine Oil. I should R&R my two fuel filters - one is the secondary fuel filter located in engine bay (top-side of engine), the primary fuel filter is located on the frame rail in the fuel conditioning module which separates water, purges air & heats the fuel. Bought a Meurer Brothers Cheese Danish I'll top w/ some pecans & heat in the oven before calling it a day.
Chris I truly wish you the best with all that. My internist told me no way on the hip replacement. I was too young. Wait till I'm old so I don't have to have the replacement replaced. I said, so you want me to suffer for 40 years then have major surgery when I won't be able to recover? My trouble was arthritis. I think the second replacement is a bit of a myth these days. The joints they use are so different from just a few years ago I don't think they wear out as easily. The ortho guy I went to looked at my Xrays and said I was a candidate at any time. I was 56 at the time. I'm sure glad I went ahead with it. You'll know when it's time.
Big surprise I got little accomplished today. Well, three loads of laundry, cleaned up in the kitchen, got the big trailer moved off the driveway, so a success. But I didn't get the truck waxed, and I didn't get the oil changed. The wax job was my fault, I don't have any shade on the driveway and the sun was hot. I did get the bugs cleaned off. The oil change pissed me off. I needed a 13mm socket or wrench to get the drain plug out. I think the last guy put it in with an impact. I had one chineseum socket, and when I leaned on it the thing split. I may go to the tool truck this week and get a MAC or Snap On socket.
Going to breakfast tomorrow before Walmart. Also a couple side trips then I don't know what in the afternoon. Thunderstorms are predicted after 1pm. These two day weekends suck.
Okay have a good evening everyone.

Game 7 at the Pizza Palace tonight. Broadcast exclusively via Prime Video so I won't be able to view. Curious about the rumor mill regarding LeBron James being ousted from the Lakers & the Lakers picking up Jarrett Allen from the Cavs for $92 million. Doubtful there will be any immediate news if Cavs win tonight, but if Cavs lose - the rumor mill might ramp up even further. I think LeBron James should exit while he still has 'some' respect.
Gorgeous weather (again) today. Lovely, simply lovely.
Tomorrow morning I'm playing in some sort of a mini Ryder Cup at our club MGA (Men's Golf Association) @ 9am. Should be interesting.
I think today will be man-cave clean-up/organizing day, recycling engine oil & stuff.
Think I'll prepare to remove the primary fuel filter on the diesel tractor prior to replacing both fuel filters. I can't recall what I used to remove it years ago but it was a bear.

Good luck at your golf tourney. The Cavs vs Pistons game should be a good one.
With higher compression comes higher heat. Diesels basically have two engine coolant systems. (1) Engine coolant (antifreeze + H2O) passages and (2) oil coolant passages. Oil is employed to remove the significant heat. Albeit, oil as a coolant is employed to reduce heat.

Good morning guys,
Keegan is supposed to have his regularly scheduled Flag Football games this afternoon from noon till 2pm but we are passing today because we're burnt out and it's supposed to be 90° here.
Right now I'm debating on whether to mow today. It doesn't really need it quite yet but we have substantial rain in the forecast tomorrow and Tuesday. If I'm gonna do it I should get started before it gets any hotter out???
Hope everyone has a great rest of your weekend! 😃

Chris - There’s also the notion/idea more oil provides a greater volume in which to suspend soot. Some cargo ships use 50,000 gallons of oil in their sump pumps. You read that correctly. Up to 50,000 GALLONS.
Taking me nearly one hour to find correct size Allen wrench to remove water separator plug then clean it well to get the Allen wrench to fit securely. Nothing worse than stripping an Allen head socket and that’s why I’m taking plenty of time to get this correct. Ugh…
The Allen Head drain plug has already been stripped and I'm certain I know by who - the next-door A$$HAT supposed mechanics. They've F'ed up more times and more items than anyone could care to imagine. They disgust me. I'll attempt to see if I can get an easy-out to grab some metal. I am not going to drill it out and replace it. Removing the fuel filter housing will vacate any residual H2O if any exists. Never a dull moment. Mechanics are NOT mechanics...they're mere phuque-tards who never learned anything in any school they ever attended.
Yep, I read that too, just didn't mention it. Certainly makes sense.
Just got finished with my mowing about a half hour ago and glad I'm done. It's 85° and sunny right now, but there is a strong breeze so it wasn't too brutal mowing. Sat down in the shade on the wall in front of the house when I was done and had a couple of brewskies! As Joe Cocker would say "I'm doing alright, I'm feeling pretty good myself!"
Weather was great here yesterday morn- had that earthy spring smell in air. I put on my size 12 waders I bought at a yard sale and finished up the dock. I was alone at house and went in too deep and water came over top- WOW that was cold. Anyway finished up dock with waders full of water- slosh, slosh... then realized I couldn't get them off! Went on easy but after wet they stuck to my skin! Finally did get them off. Buddy wasn't any help! I won't use those waders again- my other pair are 14's but leak some. As long as it is a slow leak it's ok. Was going to put in boat and cover but rain was forecasted, which it did, so maybe I'll put in today or tomorrow.
