Certainly a shining example for all the younger guys to follow!

That's a shame about the Cutlass. I hope you have the time, energy, and funds to pull off the resto someday, I wish you the best of luck.

Just 1 win away from a Super Bowl appearance last year, the Motor City Maniacs are flying high again this season, and gearing up for the Post Season! GO LIONS!!!

Maybe for good luck you can put the lion sticker back on the car.

Mike - The car never had a vinyl sticker or magnetic Lions decal on it. In the original 2017 pre-game segment, the car was filmed driving around to various Detroit historic sites with no Lions decal on it whatsoever. This next pic is of the car during that original filming.

When NBC resurrected some of 2017 footage for use in a promo piece for a Lions/Chiefs game in the Fall of 2023, the Lions logo seen on the car was a computer generated graphic.

CGI? Assuming that stands for computer generated? Have you guys seen the orange "special car" that the lady drives around in a ad that appears to be a Mustang but it has flat sides, different tail and head lights, etc? Those ads that use classic cars in them for prescription drugs, Medicare health plans,,, etc drive me nuts. The one with the mechanic turning a bolt on top of a engine using a crescent wrench backward, the guy driving a scout putting the stick in neutral and rocking it back and forth- while accelerating down a dirt road, the 2 guys working on a Road Runner with no engine in it-tightening a hose clamp on a radiator cap thing- and more. Another thing that really bugs me is when the guy is driving down a road in his car- the scenery is flying by and the car is in park- used to see that all the time back in the day. Just yesterday I noticed that on a streamed show- Landman- Billy Bob was driving his truck down a road in park... Ah well, it must sound like I got up all grumpy this morning- not really. Have a good one, guys.

Greg - Yep, computer generated image. You catch many more of those false commercial scenes than I do, Dawn is like that. I think I tune the majority of commercials out because most are just so full of $hit. We have started watching Landman too. Billy Bob is pretty funny. Dawn has commented a few times about the gratuitous scantily glad "hot chick" scenes. Certainly no need for those!

Glenn - No one seems to know what's up with Norm. I sent him a PM asking if he was ok, and letting him know we missed his wit and wisdom, but I didn't get a response. I hope he's ok!

Hi everyone.

Hobby Lobby and Publix was the fare for this morning. The place I got my white trailer is near HL but they were closed. The keys they gave me for the side door don't work and I need to get them swapped out.

Well Chris I really thought that was a vinyl sticker someone put on the side of the car. I did think it odd that they would have gone over the door seam. Maybe you can get a real vinyl sticker and recreate that picture at a car show or something.

Norm is certainly a puzzlement. I've got his number I might call him this afternoon. Strange that he posts 85 times a day and then nothing. Last he's been on the site was November 15. I haven't looked up to see his last post here. Kenneth is another one. I don't have his number but he hasn't been here in awhile.

Greg I'm with you on the cars in the commercials. Sometimes you can tell they chose a specific car for what they are doing but then go to great lengths to block out any ID on the car. I realize it is because they don't want to give the company free advertising, or liability, but heck everyone knows what a vintage Mustang is even without the ID so who cares. If Ford thought they were harmed by them using that car they could still sue because the image is so well known.

It's going to be laundry and chores at my house this afternoon. Sure is pretty out, but only 50. I'll take it. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Hi Guys -

There are several reasons I haven't posted - mostly the result of members who berate & create a **** show in every Post. I pretty much have lost interest in helping/assisting anyone in the forum at this moment; therefore, I've elected to take a sabbatical & refrain from posting. There are some very hideous people on this site & a moderator who turns his eyes away in favoritism towards others. Have a great day. Again, thanks for thinking of me. I have been reading all posts w/o logging in. Thanks for your considerations - until the dust settles a bit, I'll remain on sabbatical. I appreciate those who have called me directly. You're a good bunch of guys.

Good to know you're still verticle Norm. If you have a message for us but don't want to log in, give me a call or text and I'll pass it along.

Put some 100LL in the Valiant today. Tomorrow I'll fill it with non-ethanol fuel and he'll be good to go. I took a nice picture of it and I'll see if I can get it to post.

I'm sure I mentioned that the SRX has this thing now when it will stall and throw a code. Some transmission sensor. I had it to (I thought) a good mechanic and they were stumped. Today I had the car at my house and when I was leaving it stalled in the driveway. So Monday I'll call Cadillac and take it there. Who better than to work on it, yes? I might have them look at the sunroof as well, maybe they can get it to stop leaking.

Two days in a row I can sleep in. I could get used to this. I'd rather have overtime back. Well, sleep in, go to Walmart, work on the tree. Sounds like a good Sunday.

Okay have a good evening everyone.

Love the Valiant, Mike.
Norm, I hear ya. I have quit offering advice a long time ago on here, even when the OP asks for that advice, unless it is someone I feel I know, like you guys on the Good Morning thread. It usually seems like when I go thru the effort to hunt and peck a response, it seems to be ignored- like nothing- yea or nay. So I just pass it by. I love this site- I really do ,but I am usually silent. I hope you stay on here I enjoy your input and also like hearing about your projects- like work on your house, etc.

Thanks guys. I must be flawed, I'll take a Valiant any day over some super car.

Just got back from Walmart. For once I didn't have much trouble but Mom was behind all the loonies.

I'd change my avatar but I don't know what I'd put up. I still like that picture, it is the day I got Sparky and Jetta way back in 09. Out of the 4 Sparky had the most personality and was the most affectionate.

Got some chores this afternoon. I need to keep working on the tree but it's going to rain this week. Eh, it isn't blocking the driveway at all it will be okay.

Okay have a good afternoon everyone.

Dan it's a good thing my car is blue!

Chris Chrysler had a color close to that in 67, Turbine Bronze. Beautiful. That's the color I was going to paint that convertible in Celina if I bought it.

Got some laundry going then took the Valiant to get some gas. It's the first time I've had it out in traffic. I forgot just how slow they are. Got a horn honk and a couple of waves. It drives so nice. It needs power steering.

Thanks Dan! The motor/engine bay looks even cleaner and less cluttered since I did a heater delete mod a couple weeks ago. That large 5/8-inch heater hose is no longer running across the top of the passenger side valve cover (pic 1)

Next engine bay improvements are to paint the master cylinder reservoir the correct color, and to add this repro OEM Engine Spec decal (pic 2) to the passenger side valve cover. The driver's side valve cover already has the decal, but the passenger side would have been obscured by the heater hose. I just thought it would look nice to have one on both sides.

Mike - I'm pretty sure I've seen that Turbine Bronze on a couple of '67 Coronet R/T's that I saw for sale at one time. Both had a Parchment color interior and just gorgeous. If I'd had the garage space, I'd of owned one of them. I just love the '67 Coronet R/T's. It will be one of the cars at the top of my list if I ever get the extra garage space for a 2nd classic car.

You probably already know this, but that Copper/Bronze color of my engine is the OEM color of all the Old's Big Blocks from '65 - '69.

The second generation Olds V8s, and whatever 6s, from 64 up, were the following:
Small block 8s and 6s: Gold till somewhere in the mid 70s where they briefly went to Olds blue before going Corporate Blue, then black.
Non-Toronado 425s and 455s through 1969: red
Toronado plants through 69: A very silvery blue
All 400 blocks from 65-69: bronze. Chris's block is close, but is a little red. I've got some early take off OEM valve covers to pattern around here somewhere. The 400 stopped in 69.
1970 455 until the end of them, including Toronado, I think: Olds blue.

My three Olds cars all call for a different color block. While that's neat, it also highlights how the auto industry changed from some artistic expression in everything down to the more profit driven efficient operation of today. In case anyone cars, modern car engines have no paint, as they are mostly aluminum. My OEM paints cast iron a gloss black, and aluminum is as-cast. Plastics are typically black. I think Chevy had the right idea with Chevrolet Orange block paint, one color for everything.

Good morning everyone.

Thought I could have slept a little better last night. Tiger has been taking this medicine that makes him pee a lot, and drink a lot of water which makes him pee a lot, so he wants to go out a couple times during the night. I can pee any time I want to so why can't he. Last time he wanted to get up was after 2, and when we got back in I couldn't get back to sleep. Wound up getting up early. Wound up lollygagging around and was late leaving the house.

More people on the road when I leave later. More people to drive with their brights on. I swear they must teach that in drivers ed. My only hope is that the LED lights on the Charger are causing someone distress because they are too bright. Actually I hope the person in distress is someone who has caused distress to me with their bright lights.

John study the engine color combinations that Ford used in the 50s and 60s. Their engine blocks were one color and the valve covers and air cleaners were another color. Often times they clashed. Don't know what the reason was for it but it's pretty interesting.

When I owned my first Volkswagen I had the motor out to change the clutch, and thought I'd paint it up and make it pretty. Painted the shrouds and the fan 350 gold. Looked pretty good until the carb caught fire and burned the hell out of everything. I replaced all the stuff that got burned up but never repainted.

Rainy days and Mondays. You know I never liked the Carpenters. I started liking Richard Carpenter when I found out he liked cars but never listen to him. I never liked Karen Carpenter but lately I've been appreciating how clear and pure her voice was. I read that the parents weren't happy that she became the star of the duo, they wanted Richard to be the star and Karen could do whatever. She was actually a drummer. But someone in the band heard her sing and suggested she sing a few songs. And the rest, they say...

Okay got some wheels coming in. Have a great day everyone.

Glenn - Thanks for questioning my statement.

John - Thanks for the comprehensive ground truth. I had meant to specify the Bronze color was confined to only the 400's in the A-bodies and forgot. As for the color of mine. I don't really know why the color in the 1st pic above looks as "Orange" as it does, probably the lighting. It actually looks like the color in the 2nd pic.

Benign day. Ended around 30, nothing seemed to go wrong, no drama. That's what I like.

Did I ask about my chainsaw before? The chain flips more than I think it should. When I take the cover off and then put it back on, when I tighten it down the chain won't move. But if I leave it loose enough for the chain to move, it flips easily. When the chain and bar are off, everything turns normally. The chain and bar mount normally, but bind up for seemingly no reason. I'm disappointed that my ridiculously expensive Husqvarna is having these issues. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Called the Cadillac place and I'm taking the car in tomorrow morning. It will probably cost me a thousand bucks. But I can't drive the car the way it is, and I can't sell it because I owe too much on it. So it needs to be fixed. I don't have a ride so I'm strapping it to my trailer and hauling it down there. Hope they got a place for unloading.

Mike - Maybe post a couple pics to show a better picture of what you're experiencing. Maybe Norm will chime in with an answer. I only have a small electric chainsaw for trimming small stuff and it's pretty simple. I have limited experience with gas powered models.

Good luck with getting the Cadillac fixed, there ain't nothing cheap anymore!

Mike - I've never heard of a chain which "flips". Can you be more specific or provide more detail. I'm not visualizing how the chain can flip.

Something dawned on me just after I posted. By flip, do you mean the chain comes off of the bar e.g. it "flips" off the seat in the bar?

Mike - There are two holes in the bar used to mount the bar to the saw. The two holes are located under the cover - make certain the bar is securely fastened to the saw. The chain is then tightened via a separate tension bolt to remove any slack in the chain. The chain should not rotate when tightened correctly. Again, the chain should barely just stop moving when the correct tension is applied to remove chain slack.

Do you have the manual? It's probably the correct time to review your manual and follow the instructions on correctly mounting the bar, tightening the bolts which secure the bar to the machine (saw), and removing slack w/ the tension adjustment screw. If you've done all this per the instruction manual and the chain jumps off the bar slot (if that's what you mean by the chain 'flips') there are probably three areas I'd examine:

(1) Often DIYers never "flip" their bar. Instead expecting the bar will remain where mounted the remainder of its life. You should "flip" your bar every 15 - 20 hours of usage. IOW, rotate (flip) over, left to right or vice versa. This keeps the bar balanced during its lifetime of usage. One side of the slide rail (the groove) will become worn while the other side will not. This causes an unbalanced rotation of the chain as the chain rotates through the groove. It can cause "binding" on one side of the groove (rail).

(2) Ensure there isn't any gunk built up in the groove (rail) itself and make sure it rotates freely.

(3) Remove the bar, make sure it is true (straight) and hasn't developed some type of twist to it. Obviously, in this case you'll need a new bar.

Again, the chain should not rotate at idle and it should "snap" into rotation immediately w/ slightest pull on the trigger. Here's my Huskie after ~16-17 years of use. I've installed two new bars and one new carburetor during this time frame - works flawlessly.

BTW, FWIW - I've never had a chain run off (out of) the slide rail groove - never.
