The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Jim, not the color that you were looking for, but a nice looking vehicle. https://www.hemmings.com/auction/197...tplace_test513
O.K. so I have a fairly powerful neodymium magnet, I stuck a nut and washer to it for about 24 hours thinking that it would magnetize them, but it didn't. Why not. We have a couple of smart guys on here that might explain it.
If it were me & I was to attempt to magnetize a non-Aluminum (ferrous [Iron] metal) couple of nuts & bolts with a neodymium magnet I would do nothing more than rub each nut & bolt the entire length of the neodymium magnet from one polar end to the other. It helps to know the poles of the neodymium magnet. Just rubbing them should work. BTW, if the neodymium magnet has lost its magnetic properties, you can put it in the oven (I can't recall the temperature) with one pole pointing North and the other pole South (important). A magnet obtains its polarity (and becomes magnetized) by aligning with the North pole - when heated. During the process of heating the metal, the metal (ions) align(s) with polar North - that's how you make a magnet. If you want to maintain the same polarity bestowed upon the magnet while in the oven, when you withdraw the magnet from the oven, be sure to maintain the magnet's poles with the exact same polarity they had when you heated the magnet in the oven so it cools in the exact same direction.
When molten magma extrudes out of a volcano, or say the MAR (Mid-Atlantic Ridge) in the Atlantic Ocean the molten (melted rock) magma (ferrous Iron) ions align with magnetic North and when the magma cools, the rock (ferrous Iron) maintains polar alignment with the North pole.
Dan - Thought of something else. Just attaching nuts & bolts to a magnet (depending on the strength of the magnet) is not necessarily the best way to magnetize another piece of metal. Obviously size matters significantly when magnetizing metals. But it's "heat" which produces the polarity in metals. Upon heating, metals (depending on the metal, but mostly ferrous [Iron=Fe]) metals obtain their polarity upon heating, they maintain their polarity during the cooling process in which they "remember" their orientation to the North pole - becoming magnetized.
Here's the magnet that I have: 1200lbs pulling force. Quote from thier site:h rare earth neodymium, the strongest permanent magnetic material available.

Tanks for the lead on the K 5 but tan interior is a must

Mike, your story about Tiger wanting to go with you reminds me of our Buddy and how he acts when we get ready to go somewhere. When he sees us getting shoes on, coats, etc he gets underfoot and clings close. I usually will let him out in yard to do business and he wants to stay by the car. If I call him to come back in house he really resists. He wants to be with us all the time. I guess domesticated dogs are bred to be that way... He gets to go see vet next Tuesday to get you know what operation, I hate to do it.
Ah good morning.
Beautiful here. I think we'll do yardwork today and work on the car tomorrow. It was a nice ride over last night, once I got out of Atlanta. Why I insist on going somewhere on a Friday afternoon, a holiday weekend at that, I couldn't tell you. But no issues.
Greg that isn't a bad thing. It will calm him down, it will give him better focus, and dogs are not immune to testicular cancer. My friend has a black lab puppy, who's actually about a year now, refuses to have that done. This dog is a disaster. He wants to play but jumps and knocks you over. He can't be in the house because he tears everything up. I said, you know what will cure that. He won't have it. I don't understand. His brain is addled with extra hormones he doesn't need. Oh well.
Jamesbo I'm not sure the coach would have the same appreciation for the "military patina" those DUKWs have. Maybe if it had a bridge plate.
Okay gotta get to work. Work is delicate here because we start talking and stop working. Or we find something and mess with it instead of what we're supposed to. I really try to help out, my friend has bad eyesight and isn't able to do things like trim the hedges and other yard stuff. Eh, we'll do what we can.
Have a good day everyone.

Good evening guys,
Went to a large car show in the little town of Mascoutah, Illinois today about 55-miles from me. It was held at a Sportsman's Club out in the country outside of town. Beautiful setting for a car show, plenty of large trees for shade and a couple of pretty lakes. Huge turnout, 387 cars. I had heard it drew a big crowd every year, but had no idea it would draw that many cars. No classes, Top 60 cars got nice plaques, I was fortunate enough to crack the Top 60.
Here's some pics, there's alot of cars I've never seen before. Note, that's not a duplicate pic of the '83 Hurst Old's, you will.see in one of the pics there were 2 of them there parked side by side:

Went down about 50 miles south of here, and east of Saugatuck, Mi. to put flowers in my grandparents and an aunt and uncles urns. They were upside down for the winter, so we had to flip them over. I saw a movenet in the first one, and saw this guy in the drain hole, I flipped it upright and he did a 180° in the hole for a gander a me. Poked him in the butt with a twig and he jumped out.

Cool that your wife is into smoking meat. My wife is, too. She had some of her coworker’s and loved it so much she traded her a case of beer for an electric Brinkman smoker, then later I got her a Traeger pellet grill. She has done some fantastic ribs and pork loins.
Good morning everyone.
Boy am I sore. Yardwork isn't something I partake in frequently. Looks better, though.
Dan I may have mentioned this before, there is(was?) a church camp in Saugatuck that our church people went to all the time. I never went. But it was all the time coming up and getting talked about.
I have a neighbor who grills all the time, it smells good in my back yard. Tiger goes out and runs around with his nose up in the air.
Car stuff today. That will be fun. Going back home tomorrow. I miss Tiger. See ya's.

Mike, that's very possible. A lot of the people who head to Saugatuck are from Illinois area, and as conservative as it is there, it wouldn't surprise me. It used to attract a few of the Chicago mob people there in the 1930's. My mom's best freind lived S.E. of there, and her uncle owned 80 acres between the Blue Star Highway and U.S. 31. We went down there frequently in the summer as a kid. There was a spring fed pond about 200 feet fromhis house, he brought in beach sand, picnic tables and built a couple of out houses back there. Hot dogs and marshmallows. Had a 4' wide Coke cooler that was filled with ice, to keep the refreshments cold. The good old days.
I guess you've read about the stolen tractors [and other farm equipment the Russians stole and took home. John Deere remotely disabled them so that they would be useless. Now, I'm reading that the Russians are trying to crack the code and "if" they are successful, they could disable tractors around the globe.
That should make ya think a while

Jim - I just finished reading a couple articles about the thefts & remote kill - interesting. I couldn't find anything regarding cracking the GPS lockout codes to shutdown global JD equipment. That part does sound a little dubious since JD has two facilities in Russia & they would have known about this technology earlier if they were interested in cracking the code. The technology is nothing new (GPS remote s/w technology) - thousands of manufacturers use this technology - if anyone was going to circumvent (steal) this technology the Ruskies would most likely have done it by now. None-the-less...interesting.
BTW JD could at any time change the encrypted access algorithm so the Ruskies would fail in their attempts staying one step ahead of them.

40-/41 One double on the back side
Have I mentioned lately how much I despise this bunker
Donny [at the golf course] says some of his equipment home office generate e-mails like"Time to check my hydraulic fluid " [As if he doesn't keep records]
Norm, I just thought it was a [possible] new twist on cyber warfare I sure as heck don't want my ruffs any taller
