Lol they don't want the zoo they had a year pass and my wife took them once a week for a year . Well almost every week

I am planning to let each kid do 1 cylinder and push the starter button while checking it should be fun !!!
This is the motor that came with my trans and my buddy that rebuilt my trans said "it was in very good condition" only thing he found bad was a age crack in the 2 1 band but it had plenty of material left.
So I am very excited that the motor should be in the same condition.

Bummer, I think I have a good starter laying around. You're welcome to have it, since I'm not going to need it.

I have a good starter in the car. I might just have to pull it out. I'am working on my big block so I can just swap the motor when ready I don't like having non running cars at my house .

Thank you for the offer very kind of you

The four kids helping pulling the intake I need to go and grab kid safety glasses mine kept falling off the so no air tools tonight lol

Any ways looks okay some of the valves look rusted shut so hopefully when I pull the heads maybe it will turn over this is the one that was locked up but claimed running when pulled

Well the boys and I pulled the heads off tonight.

Man I think this locked up block had low miles on it no real lip at the top of the cylinder in the block but water got into three cylinders at some point

446318BE-CF4F-44A0-A6FC-27483A793813.jpg

Seems like a bit of slugs too hard oil deposit

Well I am going to soak the cylinders for a few day maybe mix it up from oil to pb blaster

If it ends up being a no go what's the best way to pull crank and pistons ? I don't care about them just the block

Oh yeah this block had never been into it I would think. It had no manifold gaskets and the bolt locker thing in them
And every bolt broke loose fairly easily

There's been a few posts suggesting a mix of acetone and transmission fluid make a good cocktail for freeing up motors. I've not tried it, but if your first plans don't work out you might give it a shot.

Yes my pit crew lol my girl (8) years old loved it.
She got extra time the last few weeks of pulling extra bolts by getting a 100% on her spelling test.

Is there a lip at the top of the bore? If so you may need to use a ridge reamer to shave it off.

The large "N" means it's a Nodular Iron crank.

The two pistons are rusted in the two cylinders had water in them . This looks to be a very low mileage motor to me there was no lip at the top of the cylinder the 6 pistons I tapped out very easily

The two locked pistons cylinders looks like the rust isn't deep at all maybe I might not need to bore after all

Hunter machine. I have worked with him before when I had my 72 cutlass. he was great well know at Rocky mountain race way , as well I know he has done a few olds marine motors with guys that I sourced some parts from work seems to be great . I have been calling him for months now and he walks me thru all my questions. I have even went down to the shop with all my notes from the phone calls and he clarified a few things and is helping me break it up to a more manageable build by breaking it up with very little over lap ( Red ) is the shop owners name great guy

He is the one that told me to tear it down and mark it it will save you some $$$ I know some shops gate this do I was shocked to hear him suggest it

Nice, I may have to check them out before I make a final decision.

Fyi, the guys that run Fast Lane came from Chapman Racing Heads.

Okay dropped block crank and my ka heads off today.
talked with the owner he did a quick check and the cylinders only had .002 of wear, he said "he could clean up the rusted cylinders with .010 bore " my crank was standard on rods and main he looked shocked with the numbers but still needs to clean and check properly for final numbers

Learned how to file the metal work used a flat file to slap out the dent then after used a file to find low spots

Need to weld up the f85 badge holes and metal work a bit more for prime

Thank you !!
I really like when they help it has been hit and miss when they do , but they love it for about a hr ( 3&4year old ) then they get inpatient. My older kids (16&14yearold) like the idea of it but hate the work part lol . And my two middle(7&8year old ) kids just eat it up.

But I do have to say the co worker that has been helping me with the body work has been great almost like a dad teaching. I ve learned a lot from him.

I will try and keep a eye out for your build. I love wagons and being a 64 is just great

Thanks , it's not free but he did manage to sell me some paint that he won't be selling after may so he got me a great deal. I won't be using the water base like I planed but that's still okay.
Did you get your motor back in ?
