kids helping with project
What do you mean ? I just used what my budy told me too lol he has been a body guy for 40 years I will check to make sure
If you use regular window urethane its too solid and as the metal will see heat cycles the metal will expand at different rate than the urethane. You want something that will add support but flex as much as the steel will so that you don't get those pesky low spots over time. I learned this the hard way on my dads hood of his 77 Pontiac. I used window urethane and I did all the body work and it came out awesome but sure *** hell once the sun started to beat on it and it had little low spots where the urethane was. I noticed it but most people wouldn't. 3m makes a specific expandable urethane foam that is great I started using that for repairs on hoods and doors with impact beams where I had to take out the original urethane and then re place it.
On the door depending how bad you could cut it out just under the chrome trim and reskin the lower section maybe use a nice flat part if metal from a hood it's basically how I patched my rear lower quarter panels.
You never did say if it was a post or non post

I did a quick math I have been doing body work for about a year now at let's say 6 hrs a week on average that's about 312 hrs in body work totall I would feel safe to say 400hrs in a finished product I am safe to say a 25k paint job is what I am ending up with lol
Hood just about done

Got with my paint rep today, I made my color from water base paint and he is trying to convert over to solvent base. First try the color matched but the metallic didn't so we will see what he brings this week!
Hoping to finish up the body work in two weeks and assemble for block work

nice work and quality, its looking really good. and you are moving along in really good time. i cant wait to get back on my olds.. i should have my 60's f100 done enough to start driving in 2 weeks.. then i can get back on my 64 f85, or the 41 gmc... a one man shop with 6 projects makes it seem like nothing ever gets done around here..

Primer tomorrow !!!!
Spent 3hrs today finishing up corners of the jams and going over ever inch of the car. Well two of us did cleaned all areas and blew out and vacuumed the whole car.
My painter goes on vacation next week so two weeks everything should be jammed and hopefully assemble for block sanding
This has been a blast I am so excited to start assembly processes
