Ran some seam sealer today just waiting on my painter to spray my sample to make sure it's correct, so I can jamb and assemble.

man really having a hard time turning my water base color to the solvant I really didnt think it would be that hard as we just made small changes to a stock color. the color is with in a shade but the metallic is just all wrong. could it be thats just how solvant paint is ?

Okay I think I figured out what's wrong hopefully the paint rep will understand. The color is with in a shade and the metallic is right only when the direct light is on it. The solvent base paint the metallic is ( under or in the paint ) instead of on top if that makes any sense.

Sand blasted all hinges getting there .

On my side scoops, I'm thinking of taping off what I don't want painted (masking tape then duck tape) lightly hitting painted area with sand blaster. JB welded in the pits then sand and paint what do you guys think ?

Man it's been raining the last few days on and off and yesterday, I found 3 inches of water across the floor boards and trunk floor!
Guess there's no holes any more, but man spent yesterday drying her out and covering in better as I am still waiting on a better Mach of paint.

I will bake it in the paint room to try and get all moister out that I can before paint.

Still working on the paint they took a pic of my sample and been trying to match it.

I got with my painter and we pulled the paint rep aside and explained, we just added what was already in the paint and to just do the same thing on the solvent side that it really shouldn't be this hard!
So if it's not right I need to decide to paint in water base or to change the color

Nothing's wrong with it just price it's almost double the price. This has been a budget build do every cent counts.

My painter would rather use the water base it's all he has used in the last few years

That much closer man you never seem to hit dead lines lol.

Any ways talking with my painter to see if he can stay late and jamb it tonight, so I can assemble this week.

Deadlines are made to be missed. Quality over speed, yeah? But hurry up already, I'm getting stoked to see this thing! Lol.

Lol yes quality over speed!! It was just frustrating. I was asking for paint well before I needed it and our rep just said wait tell your closer lol then I was ready for it and it just wasn't coming out right but we figured it out. I have to say he gave me an outstanding price well under what he had originally quoted me.

Oldstata,

Just got through the whole thread, you've done an amazing job. I do have one question. Knowing zip point squat about body work, what is the what looks like black over spray on the primer?

Thanks,
Scott

Thank you !

Now the black spray over the primer is a guide coat for block sanding, as you sand you sand it off and any low spots will have the black in it as well as you will dig I to the primer with high spots. Hope that makes sense as I am also learning as I go.

Makes perfect sense, thanks for the info. Again your car is looking great, look forward to seeing it all back together.

Thanks Eric and John ! Can you believe I have been doing body work for a year ouch lol.
Okay I am trying to get fenders in Monday at the latest and with done luck block sanding will be done this up coming week, so if everything pans out next sat is paint day !
We are going to paint hood off the car as well as block sand it off the car

Once painted I still need to pull rad support and make a few repairs. paint rad, wheel wells, fire wall and clean up the frame fire wall forward hopping to do these over the winter as well as all new window seals.

You may want to double check your fender alignment if you removed the core support by temporarily mounting the hood also.

I never removed the core support but I did buy these two fenders as mine were beat up.
The alignment issues is where it meets the cow I get it to line up with the cowl then the fender is to high where it meets the a pillers and bows out in the middle of the fender like the door needs to come out witch maybe it does
