Part: K42-208-4
Dual Energy™, 265DEH
Everyday Performance, Strong Mid-Range

keeping in mind this is a 71 455 with Ka heads and Edelbrock 2151 performer intake

Okay update

Started to work on drive train alittle a good friend has agreed to rebuild my th400 he has been a gm trans guy for 30 years . Best part is he is going to let me help !

Decided to wait on the cam tell I decide if I am going to go through the block . It is a running engine but I think it would be nice to put new bearings and higher compression pistons in while it's out ,and of corse the associated machine work needed

Okay I have a questions on the thorton manifolds ?
Should I go with the 65-68 or the 70- 72 does one flow better or is it just org factor I know that the 70-72 are a little cheaper. Okay after searching for a few hrs I think I might have answered the above question the later 70-72 wz. Manifold flow a bit better , but would still like to hear others opinion

Not much progress lately. It's been really cold and it seems my work space is shrinking . I did manage to sand plastics few parts this week

They should be painted by the end of the week if I can squeeze them in .
Also sent front eye brows and hood lip to be rechromed . I made a deal with them to squeeze them in when there slow and they would take 25% off the cost

It was still attached to the 455 and th400 As I stumbled out what you looking to get out of the motor and trans ?? He said what you offering I said I have two hundred bucks that I been tucking away for a trip but , dout that will be enough. He said okay and loaded it into my truck was so happy I took the truck lol

Nice score! That's worth $4-500 as a core engine, and $100-150 for the TH400. Or lots of little nickle and dime parts for your project. Looks like G heads and I think those still had the nodular crank.

Looks good! Nice thing about metal liners is they're a lot easier to restore than plastic ones. More pics of the work you did the other day......with the brazing and wheel!!!

BTW, really nice score on that engine / tranny.

I will have to see if my painter primed yet. I did not take pics if the braze work but ,it was very small maybe two spots less then a inch on both spots

The wheel wells absolutely sucked to sand blast I think after two showers I still feel like I got stuck in a sand storm !

Brazing pics showed up nicely. Bet that after a coat of primer and possibly sanding those repairs won't be visible.

J, POR15 is NOT frame paint. It is paint designed to cover rust. If you are going to sandblast the frame, it will be the perfect candidate for epoxy primer and single stage black top coat. There is also specific chassis paint that is used in the semi-truck and farm tractor markets. I'm not sure what it is called.

The Right Stuff has a very good reputation on the forums. Front disk brakes is the best thing I did for my car.

Keep up the good work! At the rate you're going, you'll be cruising by summer time.

I am a front end tech for a import dealer. started out repairing wrecked cars but , we deal with all wheel drive cars and when you blow a tire and it's not with in 3/32 of each other they need a whole set .So I begain grabbing all the17 and 18 and making complete sets out of them getting kind of hard to move around garage. So I think it's time to burn through some lol

Utah . I bought it in magna off a young guy that claimed he got from his grandfather. it had not been driven since 08 but, the title was from 82 and it was licensed in Ogden Utah the last thirty years .
the protector plate shows the original owner lived in Ogden as well but, can't seem to link the dealer number to a dealer ship to find out if they where located there as well .

So I have to say interesting things keep happening ?

So my trans went out in my truck wife said" you need to cut back on the project so I have not bought or worked on anything for the project .

Okay I work for a local dealer started out as Pontiac and buck in 2010 we lost Pontiac so the owner sold the franchise and turned the location to a Subaru dealer ship .

To day my service wrighter takes in a 68 Pontiac that the wiper washer don't work the tech working on it , I tell him there is a gasket kit that he needs to rebuild the pump later the owner of said car tell him put this used part on .

I ask the owner if I may keep the old one and he says if you can tell me what motor I have you can . so I scrap off some goo and find yc xxxxxxx I go to my trusty computer and bingo he had a pontiac 400 he was very pleased

He asked why do you want it I said mine is broken and I been looking for one but really was not high on my list

72AB98CC-3AF3-4412-9480-692C1CE3D8FA-5495-000004B3645C4FE0.jpg
So I come home with it and told the wife the story and she says I think the car gods are looking out for you lol
