So this is the worst of the window channel. I scraped about 80% of the goo and dirt out of it today.

I think I might clean and see if I can weld the holes up and clean up what I can. if it blows to much through. I guess I will have to do a small patch.

So sorry about the jumping around, decided to do a frame on I been doing most my self with help from a friend that's been guiding me and I did some trade work with a painter for the interior section to be painted

This doesn't give the color justice we took a color and added tell I liked the metallic in it

Make sure you let it cool down in between. I only let it fill up twice before ,I let it cool for a few hrs its not much at all and I started blasting my bigger stuff at work after hrs here and there don't want to burn up a compressor maybe I am over cautious

Didn't work with my oldest boy. Used to get him helping with bleeding brakes and such in the late eighties. In the nineties he graduated to installing metal patches on some of my old rust buckets by drilling holes and screwing them on. Tar would be applied to the ones underneath. Then got him doing complete brake jobs, wheel cylinders, shoes and such. He was so put off cars he wouldn't even get his license at 16. He's only now going for his BC driver's license at 30 years of age.
Have to admit, though, he did buy a few cars and drive without. Wasn't a very good boy at times.

They seem to be pretty tough . Mines a Porter Cable brand , and I've pretty much beat the snot out of it in the last 5 years or so . I sandblasted a ton of stuff with it , and it would have to fill up a bunch of times .

Just want to say this is a great thread. I don't own an holds, or any other classic right now, but have been thinking of getting back into cars. I currently rebuild bikes. Older Harleys and Honda's, but it is pretty much a solo hobby. I am thinking a car could be a family thing. Even if the kids don't want to wrench we could still all go for ice cream, a drive after church, or to shows as a family. It is hard to load the wife, a 6 year old, and a 2 year old on a motorcycle. You have confirmed my suspicions that this can be a family affair.

Thanks at times it's great they all help in some way right down to cleaning a part or handing me tools . Some times I don't allow help like at the stage I am at currently maybe I should but don't want a hurt kid either.

Again thanks sometimes I feel like I am posting to a sound board

Edit yes the car shows are a hoot sometimes the old times let the little one climb in and you can just imagine there reactions as well as my stress leavel at that time

Incredible work . I was looking at your pictures of the roof area near the back window hoping that the roof consists of one layer of metal , because I have a couple of small rust holes under the vinyl top on my car , and if there's two layers of metal spot welded together that make up the roof I'm in trouble . I seen a late 70's or early 80's Olds that had big rust holes in the roof , and it looked to me that there was two layers of metal that the rust ate through . I would have no way of getting in between the two layers if this is the case , and would have to replace the whole thing or risk rust coming back if I couldn't get it all sanded / blasted off .

The roof to looks like a frame with a layer over it

A good person to ask this is 2blu442 I think he has cut several roofs off in his time

Thanks . I have to deal with the rust at some point , both rear window and windshield need to come out to get at rust under there also . I'm not going to bother doing that until I can get the replacement metal for the cowl / dash rust .

I wish I had the patience to let my kids help me with my car like you were doing , that's awesome ! Keep up the good work . Your car is looking good .

They enjoy helping sometimes they help with stuff that will not make it on the car but they are having fun believing it a part

Also I looked into the roof a bit more looks like two parts a full sheet and a skeleton pinched welded together hope this helps

Current trans is jetaway switch pitch
