Well, my dad had a hankering for sardines, and also creamed herring....bleh. He was in the Army Air Corps, stationed in Alaska. Norm, I have a 1972 Olds sales brochure that indicates that bias belted tires are standard on all models, and I cannot find a radial option for any of them. I always thought that the '72 H/O came with them, but I think that it was the Goodyear Polysteel bias ply. My Chassis service manual shows rayon belted. The best source would be the assembly manual. I had a '66 goat back in '80-82, and told a buddy of mine that I was putting BFG radial T/A's on it. He was absolutely convinced that I could not put radials on that old of a car because it wasn't designed to use them. Of course he was wrong.
Good first day back. My wall guy and I were the star players. Found out we were expecting a large shipment of unserviceable tires that never showed up. Could be an early day tomorrow. Wonder where they went.
Well we have a Mustang SUV now, might as well have a Corvette SUV. Other than a Suburban(which is actually a station wagon and not an SUV) you can keep them. If Enzo were still around, and he'd be like 120 years old, there'd be no Ferrari SUV.
Nice out. Gonna continue dismantling the dock. The new dock will be a platform resting on top of the wall extending further into the yard than it will over the water. Sure it will put it several feet above the water but I don't have a boat so it doesn't much matter. I could always build stairs down to a platform if I got one.
Norm I think we should change time once a month so it's always light at 9pm.

Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley, Jaguar. It's what sells now a days. The automatics are hyper quick at shifting gears, but I would prefer a manual every time in a sports car.
My dad's '55 88 after my oldest brother rolled it, about 1962. He was on the newly opened Seaway Drive, which is the business route for U.S. 31. He took the exit for our road at about 90 mph, it was in March, and there was slush on the road. I wouldn't take it that fast today in a modern car, let alone a '55 Olds with bias ply tires and drum brakes.
Greg, he wasn't, but his buddy broke his leg. I never knew that these pics existed until a year ago, when my nephew showed them to us last Christmas. He gave them to me this year. This of course prevented the rest of my siblings and my self from ever driving any of my dad's future cars.
Star players again today. We had a reduced number, it's Friday, and still these unlearned kids drag their feet. Well we did get out around 1130. Quiet at the Awful house, for a change. Oh, remember I said there were two misfits on Christmas Eve and the cook was pulling her hair out? The manager was coming in as I was leaving and I told him about the fiasco so today he sees me and takes care of my ticket. It was a whopping $3 but hey that was nice of him. I said that's not necessary I only wanted to say something because I knew no one else would. He said he appreciated it. So wow. Lunch on the Awful house.
Dan I think a lot of that would have buffed out. How many times did it go over?
Got most of the dock taken down yesterday. Still have the "ramp" that covers the block steps to dismantle but that will have to wait, I have a couple errands to run this afternoon. Jamesbo I'll take some pictures when I'm done.

Greg - Yes, each one is spray can. I had debated on several types & honestly it was hit or miss. I had considered Eastwood automotive paint products & had I not chosen the route I did, I would have gone the Eastwood route as I had heard very good reviews of their products. I think you'd probably agree, two things which can be a complete nuisance w/ spray products (outside of the quality of product itself): (1) The spray coverage & (2) The type of spray nozzle. Both of these items were excellent. No fatigue on spraying, the nozzles were great and the coverage excellent.

So I'm sitting at the Awful house next to the register, and this frazzled new girl is trying to do a bunch of things at once, and the phone rings. And she picks it up and as clear as day says, Awful house! I almost got my smothered covered up my nose.
Dreary out. No rain but it's coming. Today I'm headed to Rock Hill, SC, to look at a 57 Chevy. If Glenn were here I'd ask him for some advice on it. This will be pretty much an all day trip, four hours out and four hours back. Eh, wouldn't get much done on the wall today anyway.
Norm are you leaving each control arm in its respective finish?
Jamesbo my Mom and I were traveling on New Years one time and stopped at the Cracker Barrel. They were giving out black eyed peas to everyone as the traditional New Years Day food. I tried them, decided they were on the same list as grits.

Well it was an uneventful ride anyway. Met the guy after he couldn't find the place where he told me to meet. The car was okay but not terrific, certainly not worth what he was asking. I took it for a short spin, checked out a few things(that didn't work) and asked a bunch of questions, no kidding, every answer was "I don't know." Asked him what the bottom line was. He threw out a number just a pittance under what his advertised price was, and I said I wouldn't do that. He said what would you do. I said under 10. He just got in the car and burned out through the parking lot and onto the street. What a ****. The car was worth about half what he was asking, maybe a little more, but it had a few issues. So did he, actually.
Norm every picture has a different finish. I was being a wise guy. I was asking if you were going to put the parts back on as they are, so each piece would look different.
Jamesbo that's a nice article. I don't think any of it applies to me. Do you have to be a local for all that good luck to work or just be in the south at the time you're partaking? I would think putting a coin in the food and cooking it would make everything taste like metal. And if you didn't notice it it would break a tooth. Where's the luck in that.
Rain. I assume it's been raining here all day, but it was mostly nice on the road. Tomorrow will be catch up day around the house and then another bisected week of work.

You're right - he's a ****, especially after you drove 4 hours and the *** couldn't even find the place he told you to meet. Actually, he's a **** knocker. You know, I thought about your statement awhile while I was honing (sanding) out the bushing and ball joint bores on the control arms late this afternoon and I sorta half suspected you might have been busting my *****. At any rate, I did get all the bores honed and I'm ready to install the bushings and ball joints. Call me a fanatic, OCD or whatever you like, but I'm going to push these suckers in the old-fashioned way on my first attempts. I'm going to place each of the bushings and ball joints in my freezer overnight, then I'm going to remove two tray layers from my refrigerator and put each control arm in the refrigerator for about x2 hours. {I have a nice heavy duty (C-Clamp) press for ball joints and bushings w/ the assorted various sizes. I also have a BFH and a 4"w x 4"w x 3/4" thick solid piece of hardened steel to lay over the correct sized driver to knock the bushings into the bores.}
Next, I'm going to remove the items from their cooling chambers, liberally brush each bore & steel bushing sleeve w/ waterproof grease & hopefully on my very first attempt they will slide in like butter. I just don't fancy banging the living snot out of metal when I know for a fact metal contracts significantly when it's frozen solid.
Dan - Yeah, I wish I had one of those big gnarly anvil type vise but all I have is a smaller anvil type bench vise which I don't believe will open large enough to accommodate the control arm and the protruding bushing in order to squeeze the bushing in. That's a good point though, I'll have a look at seeing if it will fit. I seriously doubt it though.
Dan - Great suggestion. I just came back from the man-cave. My vise will open plenty large enough to accommodate the control arm and each bushing to squeeze in the bushings. Actually, the position of the vise is nearly perfect to allow me to rest the control arm on the bench with the bushing bores and bushing aligned. Nice!
That'll work great for the majority of the bushings but obviously not the LCA ball joint or the one bushing on the opposite end of the UCA center shaft - but I have press drivers which will fit for those.
