Howdy all.

Internet is still absent from the homefront so I'm at the library. Tech Support has been MIA since last week so it looks like I need to make another trip into the office.

Been running around like a mad man but haven't gotten much done. The pups are still with us. Their time is up. They are getting too comfortable and I've run out of ways to keep them off the porch. They make a big mess when they're up there. My dogs aren't getting any more used to them. I guess I'm not as good a man as I need to be.

So I was finally victorious with that Vista Cruiser. Met the guy this morning and told him it's do or die. I rarely get buyer's remorse but felt like I paid too much. Heck I always feel like that. It is actually fairly solid and runs pretty good. Wonder how long it will sit around before I do anything with it.

I got lots of catching up to do but that won't happen today. Got more errands to run. Hope everyone got started back to work okay and has a good week.

Morning All!

Rainforest humid here again. Temps around 72* right now. It's cloudy - they have the storm warnings out again for high winds and hail... had them yesterday and we didn't get a drop of rain. Riverfront was canceled last night. We had some ominous looking clouds but no rain.

I'm enjoying my last week of freedom in here without whiney **** Brian! Fan is on 2. Brought in some lilies from the back yard. The deer have eaten the buds on my favorite stargazers out front. Figured.

So.... I got an approval letter from Cigna yesterday for the plastic surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic!!!! That is a good thing! Now I have to call and see when all those doctors can get together for the surgery and see where they can fit me in. Hope before October! I will have to cancel over at Akron once I find out.

Nicole finally made it home last night. Her and Jon drove down Sunday from Indiana for her little party, then they drove back to Indiana later Sunday night. Yesterday she spent in Columbus with her 'friends'. I swear that new car must have about 5,000 miles on it already! She's gonna wear it out..... I don't know what she's doing. I think she's seeing that Alex kid again. Don't know if Jon knows or not. I'm staying out of it.

OMG! Steve just turned on that heater again... Really??

So today my buddy Homer, our QA manager in Houston, starts chemo. Please pray for him cause it will hit him the 3rd to 5th day, no doubt. He's 78, and I know how hard it hit me this time, sooooo.... pray that it shrinks that tumor on his liver and the one on his colon. I don't know when they'll do surgery, they want to try to shrink the tumors first. Sometimes that works. Cancer just friggin sucks!!!!!!!!! No one should have to go through this $hit! God I'm bitter....

So Linda flipped off Larry's cameras every chance she got when she was down for cake on Sunday, lol I'd like to know what he says about that when he watches it. He watches before I get home, Nicole told me.

Jamesbo... I froze 2 bags of green beans last night, since I couldn't go outside in the humidity. They are pretty beans! I ate a cherry mater too, that I picked. Yummy.....

Our grapes have that stupid black rot on them again. Larry cut them all down this spring and cleaned under the arbor and all that, and they still have it. It's just sad. So many grapes hanging there, and they're just drying and shriveling on the vine.

Scot.... glad you weren't in that hurricane! I was thinking about you all.

Clint... hope you don't have too much damage from the storm. Glad it missed us! There were trees uprooted in Willoughby Hills though. So some people around here got it.

Jamesbo.... too bad you can't make the get together with Jon.

Mike.... tell Jon and Daria I said hi! Enjoy the visit.

Well I better do something, so you all have a great day!!

Good Tuesday Mawnin All

Thanks for all the welcome back wishes Allan RWYB seems to be shaping up nicely. I had some 300 4" x 6" glossy flyers made up and have been distributing them at various auto shops and parts stores. I think we will get a bit more in this year due to some car clubs in South Carolina that have pledged to attend

I got a lot done yesterday as far as catching up on chores goes, today I need to pay some bills and cut grass at the shop.

Sandy thank you we were definitely watching the weather channel as much as possible. Luckily we only got about two small showers from the wrap around remnants on our way out. By then the actual hurricane was long gone away from us.

Clint hopefully everything is all good and no damage (fingers crossed)

Whelp back at it, still lots to do.

Hi group.

It's my daily visit to the library. I did just go to Best Buy and get some adapter thing that the guy assures me will make my computer work again. Cept it will require another visit from the cable provider. Why can't anything be easy?

Jamesbo I talked with John today and he knows you can't make it. Wish you could. Sounds like a nice place up there look forward to seeing them.

Allan I'll get a picture of the new ride up as soon as I can. I need to figure out what color it is. Looks too bright for Nugget Gold but somewhere in that ballpark. Did the wagons ever come with grey SSII wheels?

Clint I hear from the rescue woman now and again, I think she's just stringing me along so I don't take them to the pound. Now she says it will be a little while, she's looking for a rescue. Before she told me she was the rescue. Oh well, I think I finally figured out how to keep them off the porch. Life will be a little easier but they still have to go soon.

Okay back home. I've been running here, there, and everywhere else my whole weekend. Actually without the internet at home I've gotten a few things done. Go figure.

Have a good one all, I'll catch up here some day.

Mike - That's what SSII wheels were. They were not color coded to the car -they came in an 'argent gray' color. The exact same wheels painted body color were called SSIII's. Check the cowl tag for the PNT code. If it's what you're suggesting it should be code 53 53. It could also be Galleon Gold which is code 55 55.

Mornin all,

Paul how'd you know I drove a Mazda? Oh wait thats Zoom zoom

Mike, Hopefully they find a home soon.

Jamesbo HF? Half Faulty?

Scot Are you making trophies again this year for the RWYB?

Sandy sounds like since Larry put those cameras up you have more birds than Capistrano.

Well the Toyhauler got hail damage and so did the hood on my Mazda.(had been previously replaced with aftermarket sheet metal that is much thinner. The roof is fine. all the others cars are pock free too. I don't know if I should file a claim on the trailer or not. They will probably total it out if I do. The Mazda only has liability and its not very noticeable anyhow.

I just pulled into the shop parking lot yesterday when the kid called and told me we had water on the floor of the downstairs bathroom I rushed home to find out it wasn't fresh water Called the rooter guy out. we had to pull the commode since we don't have a cleanout on that leg of the lateral main. So after he cleaned out some roots and ran out about 90' of cable, I had to drill the floor for new holddown studs and anchors for the throne. then leaned up everything and shampooed the carpets, I never did make it back to work.

Well, We'll try again today.

Have a Humpday all.

Hot but maybe sum much needed rain

Clint, Harbor Freight POS Can't you buy a total from de insurance company fer salvage value. Dat's what I did wit de H/O

Allan, De story is I've got about 4 batery tenders, 2 good ones and 2 POS. Since I've got cars/boats and utter misc stuff wit a battery, at differnt locations [mountain/ house] they tend to move around. I had de 69 442 drop top on an inferior one and it wouldn't start. Zo, when I came back from de mountains, I brought a good one, hooked it up a a day later she fires right up

Mike, Enjoy your trip to see John. You'll love god's country unfortuantely there ain't no airport to get a job.

Good evening everyone.

Looks like a quiet day here today.

I picked up the Cutlass last night and managed to beat really heavy (whiteout) rain by about 20 minutes. Unfortunately I was out in that rain in the Mustang.

Tonite was a cruise night about half an hour away so I figured it would be a good test run for the Cutlass. It drives nice, the A/C is nice and cold... The car is almost finished! Well, for now

The only issue is that at highway speed (~2500 rpm) the oil pressure was fluctuating between 30 and 40psi. When driving at a lower speed (~2000rpm) it holds steady at around 40psi. I guess I'll call the garage tomorrow and see what they think.

Clint, you drive a Mazda? Zoom-zoom! Maybe you can buy a hood with a scoop now! Sorry to hear about the hail damage.

Have a great day everyone!

Mornin all.

Paul yes kinda. A B4000 which is really just a Ford Ranger. Its a 1998 I bought a year and a half ago with 42K miles on it. It has the German 4.0 OHV in it and a 5 speed auto. Nice little truck even tho it looks like a grandpa truck. It was popped in the front end and the guy I bought it from was just flipping it. he used real bargain brand replacement panels and they are rel thin.
Attachment 163618

Jamesbo, Yes, I can buy it back and since it is just cosmetic they do not change it to a salvage title. I did some research and I'll probably go ahead and file. Then I'll stash that money away and save up for a newer one when the right deal comes along.

WTH is everyone else?

Have a Thursday all.

Good Afternoon Mawnin Peeps

Hotter than a two dollar pistol in the land of peach and pecan trees It rained briefly last night, but no help for the yards except making that pesky Bahia grow like poke salad

Clint I plan on making some trophies this year but still trying to get ideas as to what to put together. Last year the winner of the hard luck award donated a small primed model A dash and a big aluminum "foot" throttle pedal for this years awards. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Mike I haven't forgotten about you and have all but packed them securely and made it by the shipper. I keep forgetting how much I get behind on the chores with three houses, a pool and a shop when I am gone for a solid week. I'll try to get them shipped to you by Friday. Congrats on your Vista purchase

I sure wish I could sell the rental but then I'd probably try to buy a house closer to the shop and I am afraid that would be a mistake for some reason.

Anywho back out to finish up the pool

Hi everyone.

Had a wonderful time with John and the better half yesterday. What beautiful country up there. When one lives so close to Atlanta you forget that there's actually beauty in other places. Anyway we ate good and had a nice visit. Jamesbo it's too bad you had that all day funeral because the food was to die for. Hm, a busman's holiday.

Got home late and there had been rain. The dogs' room was fine but the puppies were nowhere to be found. I grabbed a flashlight and perused the back yard. I was a little sad that they were gone, but figured I'd look to see how they got out later. About a quarter to 6 this morning the dogs wanted to go out, and I heard one of the puppies barking. The dumbass neighbor's dog was having a fit so I knew they weren't far. I got dressed and went out the front and they were sitting on dumbass's front porch. I just said, puppies. They came running, it was a joyful reunion. They must have been really scared and I know they were hungry. By the way, on the way up to John's yesterday I got a text saying the rescue woman could take them this weekend.

Dan I would love to bring home another DUKW. One that actually runs would be nice. I tried to work something out with a guy selling one a couple years ago(same guy I got mine from) but he wasn't having it. I guess he would have rather gotten into some drama with ebay scam people instead of someone serious. Oh well.

Scot no worries on the shipment. Glad you had a good time and didn't get washed away.

Okay didn't take long for the library computer to act up so see you all later. The cable tech guy is supposed to come tomorrow afternoon to hook up a wireless modem and that should do the trick. I hate being dependent on the internet. What must we have done before Al Gore invented it?

Thought I'd see if I could get this to work.

The guy had this sitting out in front of some business for like a year, so that's why all the sun shades are up in the windows. The business owner was glad to see it go.

Allan I should have asked that question differently. Did the wagons come with SSII(which are grey) or only SSIII? This car had steelies and full deluxe covers. Somewhere along the way the rally wheels were put on and rattle canned a close looking color. I have the hubcaps. I'm gonna look at the color code when I get home.

Okay see ya.

Hi from work. Things don't look like they'll be too bad tonight, plus the plane doesn't get in until after 1030. So I can look a couple things up while I wait.

Looked at the data plate on the wagon. Both paint codes are 63. I would have guessed it would have a code for the plastic woodgrain. This wagon was built in Michigan. Did they have a separate line for wagons, or maybe they weren't Fisher Body? The date code is 02D and the last six start with 23. Now, my 4 door was built 01B and its last six start with 24. With VIN numbers being sequential, how can the later car have a lower serial number?

Clint I'm glad you didn't have any more hail damage than you did. It can be a pain in the patootie getting all that taken care of. Too bad about the downstairs bathroom. Ah the joys of home ownership.

Allan how are the HAs? Have they moved yet? How's your brother doing?

Jamesbo that's funny. I'd go to the ends of the earth for pizza if I had to. A hundred miles would seem like just that.

Paul I need to drive the Mustang in the rain, so it will get washed off. I still need to take it back to the place to get it cleaned up from when I bought it. The guy probably forgot about me by now.

Sandy that's great news about the Cleveland Clinic. Hope they can get you in soon. You should moon those cameras.

Okay gonna go look up a guy I haven't seen in awhile. Tried to see him last week and he was on vacation.

Hope everyone has a good night. With any luck at all the next time I'm here it will be with a new wireless modem from my house.

Hey Mike - The 63 63 code is for copper lower/upper. The color swatch I have of that looks different from your picture. More pics would be great. BTW, the front fender has been refinished at some point and the blend is visible onto the drivers door. Maybe check to see if it's a 70 fender or whether it's got crumple ridges. If it has those ridges, it's been replaced. For heavens sake loose that stupid curb feeler. There is no code for the wood grain sides. That was standard on the VC's. You might be confusing that with the Cutlass Cruiser, (aka flat top) that was not 'boxed' in like that.

Need to take a step back. The wagons apparently didn't come with the SSII or SSIII wheels. They had steelies with the option for different covers. I'm sure that a dealer could have supplied them though. Are they 14 or 15"? These ones look like the bolt on center cap style, which is period correct.

re: Fisher Body Works. Yes, ALL GM products started life at a Fisher Body Works Plant - no exception back in the day. The question is which one. What plant was your 4 door built at? Can you post a pic of both the 4 door and wagon cowl tag?

My brother is doing very well. Graeme and I visited him on Sunday and aside from him not being able to leap tall buildings or play football, he was in good spirits and mending nicely.

HA? Funny you should ask. They moved out. Then a few days later some more of them moved in.....actually, it's not all that funny is it? The new ones are less noisy than the other ones. One of them goes riding wearing a skull mask. Must be embarrassed to be seen in public....

Solo, Fredag iss beeiin nice to you?

Yesterday was a nightmare of a wind storm. Finally let up after midnight. Today looks promising with gentle breeze and high around 75. Currently it's a beautimus 55.

The insurance saga with the Sonata drags on. My claim can't be processed till the other driver submits his verbal statement and he's not cooperating. He was charged at the scene with failing to secure his load, and driving without a valid license. Insurance says it's ok to get emergency repair so,it's safe to drive, so I asked re body shop to order a replacement mirror and call me. They said it would take 1 day. 4 days later I got fed up and called Hyundai. They have the mirror in stock so I bought it and installed it myself. Takes about 5 minutes. I had to pay out of my pocket 177.00 and the body shop was charging 166.00 +.3 labor for a total of 194.00 and that's without paint. At least now I have my car to use instead of the Saturn.

Mike - Did you get your puter fixed yet?

Clint - Good luck to Tori at the races! Funny, a buddy of mine at work had that same B4000 badged as Ferd. Same color too. In the winter the heater in that thig would roast chestnuts - no fireplace needed!

Jim - Burp....dat was tasty.

Ted - Everyone gets buyers remorse from time to time. You did fine on that buy. At least it's not going to need anywhere near the work the 68 did.

Scot - Too bad I can't ship you a bunch of curling trophies you could modify.

Wooo Hoooo!!
The insurance company called me about 1/2 hour ago and says they are accepting 100% liability for the damage on my car, plus the rental. Soonest I can get the car in for repairs though is Aug 5, so that's been booked.

Jim - Trust me my friend, I can really appreciate how you might be feeling about that. I dint know bollards had legs...

Clint - Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha!! You should work alone more often - yer funnier on those days..

Woo hoo! I'm back in business at the home computer. Got lots of catching up to do. Over 300 emails, because I forgot the password to my account and couldn't access them anywhere else.

I'll check back in a little while.

Hi again, time for work. Boy it's nice having this thing working again so I don't have to go to the library.

Well the puppies are gone. They got out of the yard when I was at work last night and ran off. I looked for them about an hour this morning when I got home but they were nowhere to be seen. I don't know if they were scared by something, or just found a place that looked like fun and got out. I hope someone finds them and does right by them.

Allan I'm glad the car will be taken care of. Why is it that the person who is clearly at fault suddenly takes an attitude and won't call the insurance company like they're supposed to. Hope they give you back the 177 for the mirror.

Jamesbo was your bank on the wharf? I thought heat gun repairs only worked on wood. If it isn't creased too bad try a plunger.

So if the wagon is supposed to be copper, it really has faded. The fenders are original and it's had several touch-ups over the years. The wheels are 14s. My 4 door was also built in Lansing, as well as the convertible. Of course the convertible was a September 69 build so it doesn't add to the confusion of VIN numbers. Yes I know that's redundant.

Okay off to work. Have a good evening everyone. Friday for most, enjoy the weekend.

Mike - glad your puter is up and running. I also hope someone nice finds the puppies; its sad to hear they got loose and ventured off. Maybe someone actually came by and claimed them while you were away?

Good news - the claims adjuster for the insurance company sent me an email saying he issued me a check for the money I paid out on the mirror! Should be here in '5-10 business days'. The good part about that is it'll be here long before my MasterCard bill.

So if the wheels are 14's they should be 14x7 because the VC had disc front and rear drums from the factory. The rear drum shoes are larger than the 2 door or sedan, and I believe the prop valve on the VC is also different. Scot can weigh in on the VIN issue because that one kind of confuses me too.

Clint - A who cares if it gets a dint twuck fo yew!!

Are we talking about VIN last six or the Fisher Body Unit #?

Fisher Body numbered each and every body prior to receiving a VIN from Oldsmobile. So as Fisher put together X number of body styles together, it wasn't an exact order of which style Oldsmobile needed first, second, third and so on. Dealer stock would make up a large order throughout the model year and then you had stubborn old coots like my Grandfather that wanted his car his way. That would tend to put a stick in the spokes.

Look at it like this, a great example is the H/O of '68 and '69. They basically were made in the same time frame but VINs and/or body #'s are no where near consecutive. Also Lansing put out way more cars than the other plants and therefor more room for a discrepancy in consecutive #'s.
