The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Good morning everyone.
Had to get up earlier than I wanted so I can go back to the Ford place. Walked out to remove the dealer sticker they put on the trunk and noticed a big scratch on the hood. I'm sure I didn't sound happy when I called to tell them that.
Took my buddy Johnboy to the hospital yesterday to get some glass out of his foot. Seems he thought it would be a good idea to sit in the passenger seat of his truck and have his 5 year old little girl and her friend drive the truck up the driveway. They hit the gas and the truck went through the garage door and almost through the living room wall. His truck has dents on the hood that are 16 on center.
Work tonight. You know I'm just over that place. Maybe I can get some more sleep when I get home this afternoon. Eh, after seeing what comes and goes through the emergency room I think I'm doing pretty good.
Happy Mercredi everyone.

From the link of the auction that I posted last week (Hemmings), I did not know that military vehicles brought that kind of money.

Howdy, boys & girl.... good to be back! I have to catch up on over 2 weeks o'posts eventually, so thought I'd give a quick "hello," on accounta' I have no idea when that's gonna' happen, being a man of "leisure" now ;-)
Hope everybody's doing OK. It was great to see Mike last week.... I think he and I are still digesting our meals -- kinda' like a constrictor eating a mule. I think that beautiful new Mustang was listing to the left as he headed down the hill.
Whelpt, I'll be back soon... got a quadrillion things to catch up on, including a lawn that tells everybody "Nobody lives here."
Y'all have a great Wodan's day --- A.K.A. Humpity-Hump.

I owe, I owe, so off to work I go.
It's Monday for me boys and girls, whoopty doo. I was gonna stay home today but figured what the heck, I'm on vacation next week why take an extra day.
Glad you made it home okay, John. We did have a nice visit didn't we. I wouldn't mind waking up to that view every day.
Took the Mustang back to the place this afternoon. The guy met me at the door and said he'd take it back and see what he could do. He got it buffed out most of the way, but he said you could still see it at certain angles. He asked if I'd bring it back Tuesday, as there's a guy that works directly for Ford that comes around that could finish it off. Fine by me. It's a bit of a drive but the place so far has been stand up about it. He said I'm sorry one time when I was on the phone yesterday, will make sure the scratch is repaired to my satisfaction, and said thank you for coming in today when I was there. No hassle, no over the top gushing for an apology, the epitome of the word candor and I appreciate it.
And this for the brainiaks. I have a Hewlett Packard 10B business calculator that powers up and has every decimal point showing after 0. and "HEX" at the bottom of the display. How do I turn off all the decimal points so it just has the regular readout? It used to be like that but I pushed the wrong button and I can't get it to go back.
Jamesbo someone is impersonating you in the local nightly advertisement paper by saying he's from Emory/Toco Hills and is looking for a place to buy crushed ice. I know it isn't really you because you'd just take regular ice and back over it with your truck.
Dan those are some mighty high prices. That's a good price for the DUKW. I've seen them over 100 and if it has the amphibious trailer to go with it, whoa nelly.
Hope everyone has a good evening. Gonna be cool around here the next few days.

Hi everyone.
Nice out, and not too hot. Got sort of nippy last night, a rather welcome change from the July heat and humidity.
Jamesbo how lucky you are to have that beautiful car to take out. Even cement truck drivers have good taste. I had to run an errand this afternoon when I woke up so I took the Mustang, and even with the top down, all I got was irritated, by people who have their heads up their a$$es.
I read about the fifth production Shelby Cobra. It's a 260 car, has been painted several different colors, was in a Ronald Reagan movie, and now the current owner is selling it at auction this summer. What I found odd, was the owner said he's selling it because it's so nice it needs to be in a museum or other public domain where people can see it and enjoy it. Then the auction house estimated it would go for $2M. Now I ask you, what museum has 2M sitting around to buy cars for its collection? If the guy is that concerned about the car being visible, why doesn't he donate it to a museum and take the tax writeoff and get his money that way? BTW the article said he owns two other Cobras besides that one.
Guess I'll hit the trail. Night number two. One more and it's the weekend.

Evening all!
Had a chilly 2 days .... temps in the 50's at night and low 70's during the day. Kind of October like. But it beats that humidity!!!
Went to Hudson cruise last night. Had 41 cars!!! That's real good. Saw some friends I hadn't seen in a while. Nick and Don and I went into the bar and Nick bought us a drink.
First one I've had since New Years Eve. Sure tasted good! I won a $10 gift card to the Japanese restaurant there.
Went to Bellacinos tonight. Pam drove over and we talked and visited with friends. I forgot to bring Nicole her sandwich she asked me to bring her. Damned brain....
My friend Donna approached Brad, the manager, and told him that they need to have a benefit for me! So Pam is going to make flyers to hand out. Guess it will be on August 14th. If it doesn't rain. Next Thursday is Olds night over there.
Nicole took Dude to the vet today and they checked him out real good. Couldn't find anything wrong. I asked her why he looks and acts like he does, then? They gave him an appetite stimulator and some antibiotics and fed him some kind of gastro intestinal food that he ate right up. So I don't know. At least he's not dying I guess. The xrays showed arthritis in his hips. Poor old man. I feel relieved somewhat now.
Hoping to go to Mogadore Sunday to a show they usually have but didn't have last year. Its a nice show as part of their summerfest. If it doesn't rain.... Got a flyer tonight for the shop with a cop show in Hiram that I went to last year, but unfortunately its Sept. 6th this year.
I'm going to miss about 6 shows in Sept.
I don't know how long I wont be able to drive after this surgery.
AllanR... sorry. I wasn't aware of your beta blocker problems. I'd trust the cardiologist more myself! Hope they get it figured out. Doctors make me crazy!

Mornin All.
Sandy Glad to hear dude is still on the right path. The kid is not looking forward to her first equine euthanasia today. She is just starting to get used to killing the cats and dogs.
Mike, IIRC someone named Mike has a pretty nice blue vert that could be drivin just to reduce some stress. You should ask the guy if you could borrow it
Dan, My pop would squeeze out every mile per gallon out of a horse drawn carriage if he had one. I swear he is one of the only guys I know that will be in high gear before making it thru an intersection.
The NHRA Mile hi nats start today. Also have some big music festival at Red Rocks. The town should be pretty busy today. Well its Friday and I have a lot to do so I better get with it. Hope everyone has a weekend.

Sandy, Glad Dude got a clean bill of heath. A vet friend of mine once said,"The problem is, they can't talk and tell ya what's wrong"

Morning all. Happy Freyas day John. Rained here all day yesterday so no need to water. Supposed to rain later and overnight. Temps are back down to normal, so I guess the weather Gods must have listened to Clint.
Jim - Enjoy de drive an company. How long does a pcacifier battery last?
Scot - sup brother? Haven't seen ya much lately.
Clint - Got you new frame finished, up and running. I know someone who was like your dad. I get decent fuel mileage but also know the go pedal doesn't stop till it's halfway through the floor pan.
Mike - GTG check out Awful House! Might have to drive a spell to find one though. Hope the dealer can make that scratch disappear without damaging the CC.
Adrian - how's the stag meat? You're going to spoil everyone with it. Be sure to make some jerky treats to chew on. Before you know it, you'll need to go hunting again!
Sandy - Don't get me started on the GP. I had to discontinue using her scripts or
end up with incredibly bad side effects. Honest to God, I think she would just play 'spin the bottle' when it came to selecting what meds she would dose me with next. Right now I'm not taking anything and my BP is kinda dangerous @ 164/101 and HR @ 95. Funny I don't feel anything wrong. But given that my younger bro just had a triple bypass, it's time to take this a little more seriously.
Tomorrow is the All Olds show in "Olds" Alberta. Graeme and I are going to go, so
I'll let him drive there and back. Too bad it won't be in the Silver Surfer.
K, that's about it for now.

Freia's Day it is!
... and a wet one, at that. Rained pretty much all night 'cause somebody up there knew I needed to finish da' lawn today. Apparently not happenin'.
Glad you enjoyed our visit, Mike. We sure did. Hope you got thru all 300 of your e-mails now... I'm going to work on getting you to start liking grits next time you make it up. Gotta' mature dem IL taste buds.

I did a crash course in about 4 pages of C.O. posts... think I got the gist of most. Good to see a few new (or at least different) handles posted up here!
Sorry you couldn't make it, Jamesbo. Need to train S.M. to officiate those pesky ceremonies. In return, you could man the no-kill for a day.
Allan, was sorry to hear of that gravel calamity with the Sonata. Glad you lived to tell of it, and hope you get all you should out of it. But at least the jackass Hell's Angels are getting the hell out of your neighborhood. Lot to be said for dat.
BTW, I was taking an "Internet" vacation, rather than a technology vacation
. I think a vacation from the cell would involve major family trauma at this point.
Hope all goes well in Sept., Sandy... and sorry about your little buddy. I know you'll keep us posted. [Edit: Dooooh! So glad da' Dude got a clean bill o' health! True, they can't talk.. but when one of our three fat cats stops eatin', sumpin's wrong... we keep Science Diet in business.... not to mention the kitty litter mfgr.]
Clint and Darrell, good pic.
Whelpt, hope to check back in again soon. It's different now 'cause I don't feel compelled to spend so much time sitting here in my home office, dreading the pick-axe and shovel.

Hi everyone.
Cloudy all day today and just a spitting of rain this afternoon, but that's all the weather excitement. I hope it stays that way. I've been loving these cooler than usual temps.
Thanks Gerry, you are the brainiak. Even at this point, looking something up on the internet is not always my first thought. Maybe my brain couldn't put old fashioned calculator and internet into the same thought.
Okay John, here's a trade for you. I'll eat some grits if you give me a ride in the Starfire. I wonder if that would even fit up the driveway. Maybe that's what it is, I'm compelled to look at the internet all day long. When my home office is downstairs and out of sight maybe the ties will be broken. Or I'll be going up and down the stairs a lot. How's Aunt Carmy these days?
Well Sandy at least there isn't anything wrong with Dude. Maybe he's just taking a break from active cat duty. I think he wants to go to work with you for a day.
Clint I haven't even touched that car in weeks. It needs a good cleaning and a few doodads to be looked at. Maybe I'll have some time while I'm off to give it some love.
Allan come on down. We'll hit the Awful house at several different times of the day, so you can get the full effect. It might affect you as well. We could even go to the Awful house museum. I really need to go there.
Well it's Big Friday. Ten off after tonight. They can't touch me. It seems when I'm off work I always have reason to go up near the airport. I hate doing that because it's like I'm going to work. Well, as long as I don't go through the gate and go into the hangar it will be okay. I'm going to try not to go up there, though.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. Scot come back 'round. Jamesbo hope your uncle is doing okay.

Howdy all! I'm here and there Al, just been busy with life. This morning I had to put two new tires on the middle daughter's Cobalt after having a blowout at her sisters some three hrs away. We got her to get two down there and I found the same tires cheaper here. Funny the tires only had about 15 k miles on them but they were cracking around the perimeter like recaps
Dry rot.
I've been on a few times but the mawnin thread was buried in my search on New Posts. Scroll down and check a few threads and it's time to get up and do some other honey do

Good morning everyone.
Thought I'd stop in before I hit the sack for a little while. Worked inside all night, but then had to run the engines and park the plane before leaving, and of course the light rain had to turn to heavy rain right when we were doing that. Oh well.
Not gonna be any yard work or car stuff today so I might as well sleep a little while. This afternoon I need to work on my Amphi stuff so I'm all caught up before I head to Ohio.
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend. See you all later, maybe the rain will let up.

Yuck! Today is not looking good. Overcast and rain, which we need, but if it doesn't stop soon the All Olds Show is gonna be off my radar.
Mike - You drive jets? Must be quite cool to taxi one of those things!
Scot - Good to see alls well. Funny those tires would get dry rot in so short a time. Any warranty on them, especially with only 15k on them.
John - The Sonata is booked into the body shop, but there's a waiting list stretching till August 5. Wasn't gravel BTW, it was a box spring not tied down and got caught by the wind. We figured we got off lucky with only 4800.00 in damage, especially since the impact speed was close to 60+mph. I was really amazed how the energy was absorbed. If it had been the Cutlass I'm not sure how it would have worked out.

Good Afternoon All
Rainin'
Looks like I get to mow some mo.
Real soon...
Allan we bought the '06 Cobalt and it's been putting from apt to college for around a year so there were little to no miles that we added in that year. Say 5-6K miles. The car only has 114,000 miles on her now and the paper work for the tires didn't come with the car when we bought it from a friend. Anywho, the middle daughter has to travel further, by far, daily (still at home) so she and the oldest traded cars. With the X-Terra that gets a whopping 15-17 mpg it was a no brainer, when that is exactly half of the mpg that the Cobalt gets.
Pretty smart of them two. They have it all planned out. The middle one is a senior in High School and plans to move in with the oldest when she graduates and begins college. Then they can share both the Cobalt and the XTerra as well as the bills (rent, lights, water, etc)
Whelp back at it
Y'all have a great weekend

Anywho, the middle daughter has to travel further, by far, daily (still at home) so she and the oldest traded cars. With the X-Terra that gets a whopping 15-17 mpg it was a no brainer, when that is exactly half of the mpg that the Cobalt gets.
Pretty smart of them two. They have it all planned out. The middle one is a senior in High School and plans to move in with the oldest when she graduates and begins college. Then they can share both the Cobalt and the XTerra as well as the bills (rent, lights, water, etc)

Whelp back at it
Y'all have a great weekend
Wanna buy a 'low Saturn'? It's a 96 SL1 and only has 97K miles. (literally 5.4K/yr) Owned by my little ol wife who only drives it when she has to. Gets really good gas mileage 28 city, 37hwy. Great girls car and cheap to insure also. She'd kill me if I sold it even though it just takes up space in my garage...
Didn't go to the car show. Oh well.

Hey everyone.
Been raining off and on all afternoon. I guess it's supposed to be scattered rain all weekend. Someday I may be able to mow again.
Just finished brushing the dogs. I think I can build a new dog with all the hair I got. Shepherds are beautiful but boy can they be a mess. I can't imagine having a long hair German Shepherd.
Allan I'll take the Saturn! Mine is about to blow up. It just turned 195K. This is I think the highest mileage car I've ever owned, with original miles. I had a VW Bus once that had 200+ on it but it was on its third engine. I had this idea that I'd have a used car lot and the only cars I'd sell were Saturns. Allan what does your wife drive usually?
No I don't drive the jets. That's one qualification I never pursued. I'm not good at talking on the radios so I'm happy to be the push-back crew. I have taxied a plane before, it's kinda cool.
Might try to clean up around the house a little tonight. That is unless I turn on the TV then I'm done. Hope everyone has a good night. It's raining now and both dogs are shoehorned under my desk.

Good morning everyone.
Cloudy and rain all day I'm told. Or like the girl in Caddyshack, I'msh told. I get tired of rain quick.
Well, I turned on the TV last night and didn't get anything done. In fact, I fell asleep and then when it was time for bed I was wide awake. Go figure.
Today after Awful house I need to go on a dog food hunt. I used to buy every bid of dog food I could find, and I had like a two month supply. Then I thought, eh, that's overkill. Now I can hardly find it. I should try making my own dog food. It's supposed to be better for the dogs anyway.
This wireless BS sure makes my computer a lot slower.

Hola, all.... looks like we might have a break from at least the heavy showers today... most all the activity seems to be on the South Shore. Need to get my keister out in the yard and finish trimming. At least got the heavy-duty mowing done on Thursday... what a bear that was. Had to make 2 passes & it took over 3 hrs.
Anyhoots, quiet around here. I filled in the road holes Friday and I don't think the stuff the guy told me was crushed concrete really was... looked more like mud with some gravel thrown in... and now that it rained heavy yesterday, my suspicions seem legit. Need to look elsewhere next time. It's such a PITA to spread it, and I'm the only one back here who will lift a finger. The guy put the modulars on the road up for sale, so I know I'll get a hard-luck story from him.
Thanks for asking about Aunt Carmy, Mike... she seems to be doing pretty well... I think she's finally moving forward..... so happy for my brother & SIL this is happening. Was a rough month or two for all involved.
Come down for a ride in the SF anytime~! I'll have the grits waiting. You can choose white or yellow. ;-)
Whelp, le'me get crackin' before I bring on the rain... although that usually happens as soon as I go out the door....

Good evening everyone.
This has been an interesting week.
Work is crazy again. It should settle down once the big project most of the team is working on is completed, but I think it will get worse before it gets better.
An update on the Cutlass: I picked it up from the shop a week ago Tuesday. The BBO, disc brakes and A/C have completely changed the car. It now feels a lot more like the Mustang as far as power and creature comforts, but it still has that great V8 sound.
I put about 500kms on it in a week until a valve spring broke and a pushrod bent. (see build thread for more details).
I was planning on taking the Cutlass to a big hot rod and muscle car show in NY state, but not when that happens 2 days before. I ended up taking the Mustang down and having to get a ride into the show with a friend each day. But I had a great time so I'm glad I still went.
The Cutlass is now at a shop and once it gets back home I'm installing an aluminum radiator to help with some cooling issues I've had since I bought the car.
Looks like I have a week's worth of posts to catch up on. I'll try my best.
Have a great week everyone!

Mornin all.
Paul any idear when the cutlass will be back on the road? thats a real bummer about the valve spring. Did the piston make contact with the valve?
Mike I helped my buddy taxi a two-7 all the way around DIA. We had to get it over to the continental Hangar and had had to replace a hydraulic line. that was my first taste of Sky-drol. Literally.
Allan We took the wifes G-ma to the Rodeo. The CFD rodeo is way better than the National western stock show. Its more down to earth and real. The stock was amazing. there was only one lazy bull and maybe 2 lazy Bronc's. The rest were something else. One Bronc pitched its rider then flipped up and over the arena fence and took off bucking down towards all the horse trailers. Had all the Vaquero's in hot pursuit.
Kinda like Wyoming. I need to find me a sugar momma up there.
Have a Monday all.

Good morning everybody.
Quiet here yesterday, even for a Sunday. Everyone must have been out whoopin' it up.
Clint a rodeo sounds like fun. I've never been to one. However, every night at work there's a bunch of clowns chasing around horse's asses so maybe I have been. When you helped taxi the 727, were you the radio guy? Breaker breaker tower. Skydrol in your mouth has got to be a close second to getting it in your eyes for the worst thing ever.
Paul I hope the Cutlass is sorted out soon. Guess you'll have to drive the Delta in the mean time. How long has the Quad 442 been with you? Did I miss you telling us about it?
I'm going on a dog food hunt this morning after the Awful house. All the places around me that usually have it I'm going to. I've tried in the past to fool the dogs by getting a different kind. They just turn their noses up at it. Go figure dogs. Eh, I don't blame them. I wouldn't want to eat that, either.
I wouldn't mind if the rain took a powder today. I think we've had enough. I know I've had enough. Lots to do outside that I probably wouldn't do anyway, but it's easy to blame it on the rain, ya ya. Sorry, Millie Vanillie crept in there.
Okay off to Awful house. Have a good day and good start to the week everyone.

Morning people. Looney Luna day John!
Lots of rain here yesterday too. Funny it shows up just when it's not wanted. Might be some more today then 2 days of sun and warm.
Paul - Sorry to hear about the Cutlass woes. Is that engine repair going to be covered by the builder? Yeah, what Mike said, when did you pick up a Quad 442?
Clint - Ooops, I meant Grandma, not MIL. Glad you guys had a great time. Is Skydrol a deicing or washing agent? Doesn't sound like fun.
Jim - Hope you taught whitey some new tricks an shortcuts to the pin. You take the vert?
Mike - You got some fussy dogs there my friend. Maybe you should start taking them to Awful House.
John - Sorry bout the road hole problem. What's modulars? I hear ya on the rain thing. That's exactly like it's been here lately.
Just waiting for the dew to clear before I cut de lawns.

Allan, Skydrol is the hydraulic fluid in the airplanes. It was developed by Douglas Aircraft to replace mineral based hydraulic fluid which was flammable. Skydrol is esther based, and irritating to the body. It burns like a mother. They say it won't harm you, and there's a video of some guy drinking it. That has to be some bad heartburn.
We use HyJet V. It must be something Northworst used. It's pretty much the same stuff, nasty.
No rain so far. Been to half a dozen places and got twelve cans of dog food. That's good for three days. Oddly enough my girl doesn't like Awful house. She must know something the rest of us don't.
Hopefully the rain will hold off so Summit will have its cruise in tonight.

Good Afternoon Mawnin Peeps
The cloud(s) hasn't left since the other day, but like Mike said it hasn't rained here today... yet.
Saw this on Fakebook and had to share with you guys, especially Jamesbo

SEX AFTER DEATH
A couple made a deal that whoever died first would come back and inform the other if there is sex after death. Their biggest fear was that there was no after-life at all.
After a long life together, the husband was the first to die. True to his word, he made the first contact:
" Marion .... Marion"
"Is that you, Bob?"
"Yes, I've come back like we agreed."
"That's wonderful! What's it like?"
"Well, I get up in the morning, I have sex. I have breakfast and then it's off to the golf course. I have sex again, bathe in the warm sun and then have sex a couple of more times.. Then I have lunch (you'd be proud - lots of greens). Another romp around the golf course, then pretty much have sex the rest of the afternoon. After supper, it's back to golf course again. Then it's more sex until late at night. I catch some much needed sleep and then the next day it starts all over again."
"Oh, Bob! Are you in Heaven?"
"No -- I'm a rabbit somewhere in South Carolina.
Happy Monday!!

Good evening everyone.
As far as the shop can tell there is no damage to the valve or piston, so I'm happy to hear that. I guess the real test will be when they start it up. Hopefully the car is running soon.
I'm pretty sure I mentioned the Quad 442 when I first bought it, but maybe not on this thread. I bought it over 4 years ago, just a couple of months before I bought the '72. I was starting to work on it and had just bought an engine and transmission for it from a salvage yard when I left on a holiday and came back with the 1972. It has been in storage ever since.
Oddly enough the original owner is a friend of a friend and I've gotten to know him over the last couple of years. He now has a '68 442 and '69 Cutlass.
Here it is in all its lifetime Ontario car glory!

Good morning everyone.
Paul that's not a bad looking ride. You know I've never driven a Calais, or a car with a Quad 4 for that matter. Kennedy Engineering used to make adapters to put the Quad 4 in a few different cars that normally wouldn't have it. Like a VW.
It's T minus 1 and counting. I'll be busy today getting ready for my trip. If anyone has stock in an oil company, you should buy a few more shares. The black truck is rather thirsty on a long trip. Should any of you find yourself in the Greater Celina,OH area be sure to stop in and say howdy. Easy to find me. Look for an Amphicar and they'll know where I am.
Haven't looked to see what the rain is going to do. It rained last night just enough to make a mess and keep me from mowing today. You know what I need? A Gravely. Those guys will cut anything.
Okay see ya. Off to the AH. Have a good Tuesday everyone.
