Mike, Do you neighbors have sea walls.

De reason I axed is cause one sea wall causes waves to bounce back. It cause worst erosion on the non sea wall property

Allan there aren't any tie-ins to the yard. Though the wall does sit on a footing. I guess if it didn't it would have fallen in years ago. Jamesbo as the water flows, my neighbors ahead of me don't have a seawall, the yard is about a foot above the waterline and has rocks piled up, and my neighbors aft have a poured concrete seawall. I was just out there and I think I've come up with what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna take out the section that is leaning and build the wall several feet out into the lake, and then rebuild the rest of the wall over time ie every time the lake comes down I'll do as much as I can. That will eliminate my dock and make my yard a little bigger.

That is my girl in the one picture. Her name is Jetta. Here's a picture of the both of them, she looks bigger than Sparky because his head is down because he's afraid of the camera. They are both the traditional black and tan. He's a little darker, her face is a little lighter. They are both looking a little grey these days, but they don't act it.

Jes IHO, But I would make real sure who owns the lake bead before you build a wall out in it. That should werk fine.

Cute pups.

Mornin all

Mike, Sorry, I'm no help with all this sea wall stuff. We don't have much of that liquid to worry about around here. We use walls here to keep the piles of dust on one spot.

John, Good to hear everyone played nicely. Or is it just so common down there they don't report the shenanigans anymore? My friend down there did it up real good as this will be their last. they are moving to china.

Allan. Not of this scope. This is the first year trying to sell chicks up at the store. The missus got an email that the chicks had arrived at the Post office. at o dark thirty on Sunday. But no one was there so they had to sit there until yesterday morning. they were pushing more than 48 hours in the little boxes with no water. But they all made it. we figured there were gonna be a bunch of bodies.

Jamesbo, I think thats partly why I was in trouble. (even tho I had no part in ordering, shipping or making those chicks.) Last night I was told it was because I was in a bad mood all day yesterday. (which is funny since she was gone all morning until 2:30 p.m.) she had no idea what kind of mood I was in.

Come in Sandy. Hello?

Have a Tuesday all.

Morning!

Cold again.

Delivered aTracker to a friend yesterday. Was going to give it to my son, but decided against it.....pretty short wheelbase

Allan and Clint, I was told how to load the dishwasher yesterday....I looked at her and went to the couch and read the paper

Allan, congrats on the win!

Happy Anniversary Jamesbo!

Mike, my sister lives on a lake, and they removed the wall and returned the gentle slope into the lake. It has worked well for them, with no issues in 10 years....and no maintenance!

Have a day all.....

Hey Ted! You got de werm! Good job. Tracker also has a really high COG and is easy to roll. Dishwasher loading? Yeah I've been 'taught' that too. I usually just walk away because it's a no win. She'll just repack it anyway. I also run the dishwasher when it's not crammed to the brim full which also seems to be a no no. I don't care though cause I run it early in the morning when she's still asleep and have it unloaded before she comes downstairs.

Mike, great pics of the dogs. Reminds me a lot of Conway and Crystal. IDK about the wall. Kinda my opinion to just leave it alone and see if it holds up. Doesn't look all that bad to me. What are the step blocks for?

Gotta go to kitchen craft today and replace 9 failed hinges for the cupboard doors. Lifetime warranty. These things seem to crap out every 7 years or so.

Enjoy your day.

Mike

WOW!!! The new Thornton hood is 'only' 2500.00 by comparison and every bit as good. Add underwood components for another 500 and it's still 2000 cheaper for brand new parts.

Buenos Dias

Good morning, all... A little nippier this morning, although I didn't get up early. 'Twas 42* @ 8.

Happy anniversary, Jamesbo! Maybe a late lunch at the Varsity today?

Whelpt, more domestic chores await today. But I started the day with a piece of sticky bun from Heavenly Bake Shop, so the whole day has to be good.

Mike, the "kids" look dandy!

Allan, the press is only too eager to mention every time somebody spits on the sidewalk.... if you don't hear anything, it's 'cause nuttin' happened.

Folks down here are still obsessed (with good reason) with the ongoing saga of Tom Benson's fortunes. If this were any other NFL team, it would be on the national news every night. But a judge in TX dealt the "home team" a pretty good blow yesterday by putting his fortunes effectively in receivership; but our team is going to appeal. Here's the story if anybody wants to see. A lot of smart people are saying he overstepped his bounds, but we'll see.

Whelpt, the whistle blew, so it's off to the chores. Y'all have a great Tiu's day, Oldsmofriends.

Good morning everyone, for a few more minutes anyway.

Happy Anniversary Jamesbo. Take the Supermodel to Ruth's Chris for dinner.

First night back tonight. I do enjoy extended time off, but it's time to pay the piper. Hope things haven't changed too much since I've been gone.

Thanks you guys for the nice words about the dogs. They are absolutely the love of my life.

Ted I don't think that would work for me. If the wall were taken down, the yard would be a good two feet above the water. When it sloped back down it would look funny and be a good opportunity to fall into the lake on the riding mower. Those step walls were put in some years ago to try to help the wall from falling over. It doesn't look like they did much, but who knows, if they weren't there it might have fallen over by now.

Guess I'll do something this afternoon then get ready for work. See you's all later.

Afternoon all!

I'm still around lol!! Cloudy here today after a little sun this morning. Its up to 22* now! Heat wave... looks like we're going to be in the teens this weekend. Tired of winter already.

Not much going on. Same old shi*!!! Different day. Cold, icy and snowy, Brian's a pain in the ***.... whispers and secrets. You know. I think they meet with the new Steve they're going to hire tomorrow. If I had my guesses, I'd guess hes already been hired.....

So. Today is the 4 year anniversary of The Colonel passing away.
Feb. 10, 2011. Hard to believe. I think about him a lot and I still miss him. God I loved his humor!!!! Rest in peace Colonel.

A better anniversary for you Jamesbo! Congrats!!

I ordered us a fruit arrangement from Edible Arrangements for Valentines Day. Much better than chocolates! They're expensive but worth it.

Made an appointment to get the oil changed in Tincanio next week with one of my free oil change coupons at Don Sitts. Only problem with his place is they don't have a late night and they aren't open on Saturday. So I have to miss work and its not convenient. I have an appt with the heart doc the same day so I was going to leave early anyhow. Hopefully they can do it in 50 minutes to give me driving time to the doc.

Clint.... what'd ya think of TWD? I wasn't real impressed with the episode after waiting so long. They sure killed Tyrese off in a hurry didn't they? Didn't see that one coming. I wonder if someone - maybe Noah's friends - knew they'd be coming there to Noah's house? Someone killed the walkers and cut them in half and stuffed those torsos into the back of that pickup truck..... I don't know. Guess well find out. Could have been Morgan? From what I read previously, theres a gay guy that's going to be joining the group sometime this season. I'm not mentioning that to Larry!

John.... thanks. I put on the calendar to take vacation that week. Don't know if I will, but I put it on there before Brian could fill up all the days lol. Larry asked if I wanted to go to Az but I said no. its too depressing for me to leave there..... So we'll see. So many places I'd love to visit.

We got our new benefit packets yesterday from Houston and had our conference call with them. I am thrilled that they didn't change anything! Still have the same $1500 deductible and $4000 out of pocket, co pays stayed the same for office visits. Mine only went up about $9.50 out of my check. Brian said his went up $25. But he falls into that "over $75,000.00" income category and he buys the family plan. Mine is just for me. I'm going to keep the dental just on myself I think, that will save me $30 a check. I might put another $500 into that flexible spending account. It's handy to whip out that card and not have to take the money out of my checking. I used it last year for my heart pill refills and doc visits. It costs $20.83 out of my check each pay.

I'm getting statements from Cigna now for my surgery, showing what they paid and what I have to pay. I feel very blessed that the bills aren't extremely high. Bad enough, but manageable. I should be able to pay the anesthesiologist their $1116 and Dr. Johann his $890. The only one I'll have to make payments to is the clinic, my part of that is $2098. I don't have that kind of money. That will pretty much wipe out my savings but I knew I'd be responsible for the $5500.00. I do still have $900 of the bellacinos fundraiser money to use. That was its purpose! At least I'm close to hitting that 4 grand out of pocket already! Then they'll pay 100% again.

Well I better find something to do until I can get out of here and listen to me some Joel on the drive home!!

Have a good one all.

Allan, I think dem steps in front of Mike's wall is kinda like reverse tie backs. OR of course de could be put thar to kill people diving in.

John, De Super model is one of dem foreigners [not from Atlanta] so she doesn't really appreciate Varsity toasted pimento chili cheese steak.

Please don't ax me about my stupid phone and the AT&T customer no service [even with warranty and insurance]

Sandy, Glad to hear from ya

Hi everyone.

I'm all ready for work. Wish me luck. It's been nice not having to put up with people who are only there to cause grief. It's been nice sleeping at night and going to the Awful house every morning. Well, only 20 more years until retirement.

Sandy how is Larry doing on his old truck? Do you think that once he sees the gay guy on TWD he'll quit watching?

Haven't seen Darrell in awhile, maybe he's snowed under somewhere.

I wasn't here when the Colonel was here, but I read some of his stuff on earlier pages. Does anyone know whatever happened to his car? His wife and son were trying to sell it, never heard anything more.

Okay time to hit the road. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Jim, dat makes a certain amount uv cents but it prolly wooda bin more stable ifn it had a foundation tied to the wall foundation to stabilize,it. Looks like some uv it went tango uniform and is more comfy restin of its side.

Mike, are you kidding me? You know how much a steak at Ruth's Chris costs? It's plain ridiculous. I just looked at the local one and it's crazy stupid. A potatoe and veggie to go with the entree? A measly 16.00 extra! Gimme a break, no supermodel,is worth those prices. It would be chaper to pay alimony. Ok, rant is over sort of.

Anyone need onjuns? I bought 50 lbs for 10.00 at de market. I see plenty o onJun zoop, onJun rings and pan fried taters an onjuns in de near future. Gotta experiment with recipes for onjuns I think....onjuns cooking do smell so wonderful though.

Allan, the missus has me buying bags of unjions at costco. somethings wrong withe her. she says these don't make her cry whilst me and the kid are bawling like babies just walking thru the house.

Jamesbo, how bout you give me a call and we can talk about this anniversary thing. Oh wait...

Sandy they sure kilt him off good, but you know since they brought Noah on another african american had to die. Just seems the way it is on that program.

Ted, I'm only allowed to unload the washer.

John, woke up to about 1/2 inch of nasty slush and 34F. gonna be 60's tomorrow. Old ma nature 's bi polar condition is getting worse.

The Missus underestimated the power of baby chicks. Sold 46 in a day and a half. Only 2 left but she did order another 60 for next week. I think she has more coming in the first week of March as well.

Happy Humpday all.

Still cold. Dang rodent should be shot instead of televised.

Jim, sounds like practicality in akshun.

Clint, onjuns don't bother me so no tears. Good luck with the extra chics.

Mike, the Colonel,s real name was Col Wickham. His car was a 72 CS vert. White top over flame orange and white interior IIRC. Very nice ride.

Scot, spend more time here instead of FB.

Curling practice went well. Got replacement hinges yesterday, got home and found they were missing the cabinet attachment part. Their mistake, but my blunder for trusting them without looking. Have to pick em up Thursday after practice cause I'm not making a special trip just for those hinges. Close to 50 miles round trip.

Enjoy your day

Happity Humpity

Mornin', all. 'Twas about 40 dis mawnin', but as in GA, it's spose to get rite temperate this afternoon. Perfect paradin' weather. Sorry for all the slosh, Clint. See, iffin' you were here for M.G., you could be 'joyin' the gorgeous Louisiana weather this time o'year.

Allan, you gotta' live a little every now & then. An extra 'hunnert' once a year ain't gonna' put nobody in da' po-house. I haven't been to Ruth's in a decade (Ruth's was born in N.O., as you might be aware). But better half & I like to do sumpin' fer our anniversary. If you spend a little money every now and again -- and enjoy the meal -- it seems worth it. Sure couldn't do it "regular." But I'll tell you -- ol' Ruth makes a mean steak.

Jamesbo, I've been to C.F.A. once in my life. Nuttin' against it, but just never seem to make it there. There's one on the campus of Southeastern in Hammond that happened to be convenient for me one time (since I was there for 3 yrs.). In any case, at least it sounds like you've been dismissed from the doggie-barn.

Whelpt, y'all have a fab Humpity, Oldsmofriends.

Morning all!

Another cloudy day with a cold start. Was 17* this morning but is up to 28* now. Supposed to hit 30 today. We had a pretty start of a sunrise, but before the sun could come out, the clouds moved in.

Nothing new here. Quiet and slow and not much to do.

I finally worked out last night when I got home! Felt great!! I haven't worked out since I did that one and my heart started flopping. I've been Leary ever since, lol. But my heart stayed good last night. I miss doing the ab workouts. I have no ab strength at all now. I can't even lift straight up and turn over in bed. Feels like I'm going to come apart! Very strange feeling.

Mike.... Larry won't be happy when TWD brings in this new character, lol. He'll have all sorts of comments to make.... I'm not looking forward to it.... No, he hasn't done much to the truck this winter. Always at the shop or plowing snow and is too tired.

Jamesbo.... I miss them all too. God how I used to laugh!!!! Couldn't wait to get on here and see what was posted, lol. Never knew what we were going to get did we? One day Im going to go see Blue.
They won't know me with this short gray hair lol.

Larry bought a bunch of stuff for the shop online, but he has to make a trip to Rochester NY to pick it up. He'll find out today when they want him to go get it, he said. I told him he better pick a nice day. He doesn't want to be on I90 when its bad out, right along the lake! There are a ton of accidents on that interstate when it snows. I'm going to give him money to buy me lots of scratch off tickets!!

Speaking of those, I mailed my $6.00 worth of GA tickets over a month ago and haven't heard anything from them..... wonder if someone took them and cashed them in? They did have my name and address written on the back. Hmmmmm.... I'll have to see if there's a phone number on them I can call. I made copies of the tickets.

Well since its lunch time I reckon I'll go eat and take my walk. Steve and Brian are going to meet 'the real McCoy '. But I dont know that, Lol. Its a secret....

Have a good humpday!

Hi everyone.

Wasn't such a bad night at work last night. We worked inside and got home a little early. Not sure what tonight holds, but hey the pressure is off, Monday is over.

Been a nice day, didn't see too much of it. Gonna be cold tonight. Seems funny to be dressed up in long johns and layers of shirts when it's 60 out, but I know that is short lived.

Decided I need to find a new place to live. Found out the HOA has changed a bunch of rules so the board members can do things they shouldn't. I don't have a lot to say about it since I don't pay dues. But if I did pay dues they'd do whatever they want anyway and my money would be wasted.

Time to go out with the dogs and then head to work. Hope everyone has a good evening. The weekend fast approaches.

Mike, too bad you can't just build on that new property you bought. Any chance that could happen? There would be plenty of room for the pups from what I remember of the pics you posted of it.

If you sell, does that mean the new owner has to be approved by the HOA?? That would really suck. Would or could they force the new owner to pay dues?

Allan that would be the plan. Unless one of the neighbors decided to sell then I could just move right in and wouldn't have to build. There's plenty of room over there for a nice house and yes lots of room for the dogs.

The biggest problem I have living on the lake, is the woman that is president is patently against lowering the lake. She, too, lives on the lake and doesn't want her view to be spoiled. She was president last year and was thrown out because too many people found out she didn't own the house she lives in, her mother does. Well after they threw her out, the board changed the rules so she could once again be on the board, but with the stipulation she'd never be president. That was what they said in public, but now she's president again. This pretty much guarantees the lake won't be lowered for the next several years.

And there's more than a little crime in the neighborhood. The police don't come back here because they get lost and everyone knows that. The economy isn't bad around here so it's just POS people who think they are entitled to take whatever they want. That they have to take things in the middle of the night should be a clue that they are wrong.

Membership to the HOA is optional, and years ago we paid a lot of money for an attorney to tell us we can't make people pay, because it says on our warranty deeds that we have full access to the lake and common areas without restriction.

I could go on at length about the woes of the neighborhood, but I won't. I will have to rethink the whole seawall project, as well as everything else I want to do around here. Too bad, the place has such potential.

Okay rant over. The dogs are ready for bed and I need to get going. Have a good evening everyone.

Hi everyone. A little swamped the past few nights and it kept me off of the computer. Nothing much new to report here, other than we've gotten snow about every 2 to 3 days. Supposed to get another 2" tomorrow, with more storms coming over the weekend and again next Monday into Tuesday. We've had a foot or more of snow on the ground now for a month, forgot what the lawn looks like.

I got the Riviera back from the body shop, and it came out mostly the way I wanted it. They missed a small dent in the fender and they did not attach the front fillers to the car. I haven't had a chance to get out in the garage to check, I hope they fit properly. Also, the paint on the drivers side never had a really bright glossy look to it, and now the front fender does so it doesn't match the rest. Now, I'm going to have to do something with the door and the quarter panel. Attack of the might as wells, lol.

I have to go back and read up on the threads to see what's up with all of you. Have a good night everyone.

BTW, here's a pic of the Intrepid I bought. It is one of the rare instances that a car actually looks as good in person as it does in digital pics:
Attachment 160351
It is just as clean on the inside as well. It was a one owner car and I have all of the dealer service records. So much for buying a "beater" to take into the city.

Mornin all,

Cold ...again

Clint, I gave up buying huge bags of onions. We would use a few and put them in the cellar. We would smell them a few months later

Mike, good luck with your decision. Too bad the few can ruin it for the many sometimes.

Allan, making huge trips for little things drives me nuts too. I usually go thru my grandfathers stuff before setting out. Of all things, he collected hinges

Darrel, nice looking wheels. Nice that it turned out better than expected!...definitely not a beater!

Well, log truck coming today, off to plough (plow)the lane...

Have a day all!

Mornin all.

Ted, We do that too, but since we have our bedrooms down there. they don't usually get fergot about.

Darrell Thats a nice looking Hoopdee. At least id doesn't sound like you've had s much the roofs are caving? Heard on the news that some places are getting real bad about that.

Mike, I don't envy you. I could never handle living in an HOA. Yea, living an a relaxed area has it's issues, but nothin that a little chat between neighbors can't usually cure.

Sandy, I don't know why but I can't shake the idea that you are in S O-H 10.Even when I know better. The thought of going all the way up to NY seems daunting. but I guess its not too bad from where you are.

John Here is our Anniversary locale. www.simmssteakhouse.com A little Hoity toity for us. but we scrub behind the ears before we go. Its a great view of the city.

Allan, Is that how far you go for Curling? Goodness. Our new curling center is about 4 miles from here. Not sure I'm ready to take it up yet.

Jamesbo, Thats the way it is here too. the wife has a full on addiction to it tho. She's threatening to build another coop since the one we have will only hold a dozen or so.

The missus went to the doc yesterday guess she has a staph infection. so naturally everything around here needs to be covered in bleach. smells like a hopsital in here. And thats where I thought you usually got a staph infection

snows mostly gone again. gonna get to the upper 60's again until next week and its spose to hit single digits.

Have a day all.

Chili and spose to get colder later

Mike, I HATE HOA But I wouid think the old air field had one too.

Clint, Ever bimbo suburbanite round here gotta have a pot belly pig, A few Anacanas, a pigmy goat an a labradoodle

What de don't understand is every animal has it's own unique set of problems and diseases. I got a call late one afternoon from one of dem whose new chickens were going TU. She was hav'in her nails done and didn't think she could finish before de co op closed and wanted me to drive 15 miles fer sum meds. They oughta make dem take a class and learn sum'in before de sell dem critters.

Mike this guy bought The Colonel's 442 455 Olds 442 He contacted me a few years ago about the front bumper alignment. Seems like a great guy

Scot, spend more time here instead of FB.
Well Al I can only get on the CO when I am at the house, fakebook is accessible from any of the mobile devices. It's been a bittersweet week here. My middle daughter totaled the nicest car amongst the siblings. She was thankfully unharmed in the accident. We are still trying to find out details on the others involved. So far the only good thing to come out of this is the insurance co has agreed to settle to our advantage.

WTH is going on? Oh, oil giants are insisting on their lb of flesh. Locally even though oil is volatile ar less than 50/bbl price at the pump just jumped again overnight to a whopping .92/L. That would be 3.47/gal for you guys. And that's likely just the tip of the gouging that will continue to occur up here. Certainly an incentive for tourism Huh?

Spoda be a nice one today wit some melting.

Clint, the Saville is usually a 35 mile round trip for me 3 times a week. The extra 15 would be to the Kitchen Craft outlet on Calgary Trail, then hit the beltway so I don't have to do all that God awful stop/go through the city. Not bad, I can get from KC to my place in 32 minutes. Beltway is posted at 65 mph but everyone usually is going 75.

Darrell, intrepid looks too. Ice to take to de big city. You got yourself a real dilemma there... Sounds like you opened can o worms wit de Riv? Pics?

Mike, good luck with the house plans. So you'd have to build first before you can list your current place? Carrying 2 mortgages can be a tricky job unless you find a suitcase jammed wit cash.

Jim, peeps here were petitioning fer PB pig fer pets too. Not really sure how well dat would go over wit pig poop all over de place. Can't see no pig cuddling up on my lap or chasin after a stick either. Hey on the good side, if it gives ya any hassle it's in the frying pan wit cackle berries fer breakfast.

Scot, everyone collects something, but I'll never collect these European hinge things. The inside spring part isn't that durable and they're not rebuildable. What do you have to plow for?

Well, de trash guy was just here so guess it's almost time to don curling pants and head out.

Huh? Did I miss sumphin?

Anywho Thanks Al. She is fine, but she caused it. And this is her 2nd in two yrs. Exactly how long she has been driving, too Oh well we'll see what they do to our premiums and go from there. As far as her next car, we are searching for her. I am the only one here that knows what I am looking at when it comes to used cars.

Hehe, Allan got a couple of handsome guys mixed up

Allan, my secondary source of income is from firewood sales. I do between 150 and 600 bush chord a year. I get all my logs in the winter months before half load restrictions are put in place, usually March 1. If you want to see an upset log truck driver, get him stuck in your driveway because you did not clear it for him
I have sold wood since I was 15....it has paid for college, university and now my Olds addiction......use to do it all with axe, splitter chainsaw, but know have a processor that I run....we do about a bush every hour......

Scot, glad she is okay.....what wheels are you looking at as a replacement?

Thanks Ted. We are looking at a nice '06 Corolla S, but she like the Accords and Altimas too.

I guess I can honestly say from experience that wimmen are not bad drivers at all. As a matter of fact, 3 of my 4 girls are of driving age from 17 - 23 and of those three: The eldest, bless her heart has been crashed into and totaled twice, since day one and none her fault. The next has only had to put up with a lemon Chebby "Crapalier" with no accidents. And this is the second time the middle one crashed into someone. The youngest, I can only pray when that time comes

If you include my wife, then that's 3 out of 4 very outstanding drivers that happen to be wimmen.

Ooops, My bad Scot. You and Ted must have been twins separated at birth... Yeah, did you ever see that show? Twins - Danny Devito and Arnold (I'll bee baaack) Schawartzenegger?

Ted, I bermember seeing piles of wood at your place when you took pics of the CS when it was red. I kept thinking that with all that wood you must have arms the size of an ox from splitting it all day long. Good to see you found technology!

Hi everyone.

Cold but sunny. I started work at the Atlanta airport in February, it was 50s for the low and just got better. Had I known that the real winter was cold and windy I would have gone back to where I came from. Of course that place was colder and windier.

Well Scot that's too bad the little girl wrecked her car. Glad she wasn't hurt. What are you up to these days sans UPS?

Ted at my house I'm the log splitter. Though I don't put out the production that you do. I find chopping wood to be very therapeutic.

Jamesbo I would have thought there would be an HOA there as well, but there isn't. I was told you have to pay 10K to use the runway, but with no HOA who do you pay it to? No matter, I don't have an airplane. Allan if I could get away with it I'd set up the Airstream and live in it while I was building the house.

Darrell that's a nice looking car. How long will it be before you find out it's too nice to take to Brooklyn and you're once again looking for a "beater."

Well it's Friday. The last two nights were surprisingly tolerable. I hope that trend continues. So it's out with the dogs then off to work. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Mornin all.

Mike, why couldn't you use the trailer? It would be a little cramped with the pups for long term, But otherwise without an HOA is there a law against it?

Scot, Glad she's ok.

Jamesbo. The pot bellies are fading out around here. the new thing is the fake teacup pigs. Altho a neat idea, its really sad what they are.

Have a Friday all.
