My Dad, having served in WWII, always called the white ribbed tank tops (really an undergarment) a skivvy. He called a t-shirt a t-shirt and he called underwear bottoms shorts. I always liked the notion he called it a skivvy.

Skivvies is a term used to describe various types of undergarments worn by both men and women. Originally, the term referred specifically to a type of men's underwear that was popularized by the United States Navy during World War II, but it has since come to encompass a wider range of undergarments.

Good morning guys, barely, it's 1158 here,

Keegan's hockey Skills Day yesterday evening was fun. He did fine, but is a year behind some of the boys who played last year. He could have played last year, but Mom and Dad decided to wait because he really wasn't showing alot of interest yet, and it's such an expensive sport for kids to play, and a large time commitment. He's fired up to play now though after seeing his big Brother's success last year. Gabe's Skills Day is this afternoon at 1445, wife and I are both going.

I did end up cleaning/treating the vinyl roof on my car this morning. Treated both the roof and vinyl dash pad with 303 Aerospace Protectant. Man that stuff leaves a nice, semi-gloss look to vinyl without the greasy feel. Charity Car Show at the AmVets Post in DeSoto tomorrow that I'm going to. My buddy with the '66 Vette is meeting me there which will be nice. In the past they've had a separate Buick/Olds/Pontiac Class, hoping they do again. Should be a fun day!

Hope everyone has a great day!

We hit 115 degrees today. For those of you tracking Heat Index it was only 113 due to the low 53 degree dew point.

Hi everyone.

Norm looks scrumptious. Love the glass, btw.

My meeting this morning was a bust as far as I'm concerned. I would have rather gone to lunch with a couple awesome dudes. It was a few minutes of neighborhood business and two hours of jibber jabbering.

Afterwards I went to Awful house. My friend that I eat lunch with has about a 95% chance of having lung cancer. He seems a little too nonchalant about it. He literally has no one, so I'm trying to be positive and helpful. First thing he tells me is he thought about giving it all up and just dying. Because it's all so expensive. How the hell do you process that?

Mowed this afternoon and did a little yardwork. And laundry. Brushed the dog after dinner and watched the rodeo. I really don't care for the rodeo but Mom does so we watch it. Ug. It reminds me of the Rodeo Song. Look it up.

Okay tomorrow is Walmart lunacy then I don't know what. Cable guy is going to be there around 5, one channel out of how many thousands doesn't have sound. Been that way for a couple days. Lady on the phone made the appointment. My feeling is, it's the network's problem and since it's the weekend no one is there to know there's a problem. It's MeTV.

Okay bedtime. Have a good night everyone.

It’s all in your perspective. With 95% probability, maybe he has just come to the conclusion that the end is near (it’s inevitable for all of us whether we acknowledge it or not). So maybe he is at peace with the inevitability? I dunno. I’ve pondered the end many times over the years, mostly as a hypothetical situation (due to my youthful ignorance), but as said above, it’s not hypothetical but is inevitable.

Mike - Sorry to hear about your Waffle House friend.
(1) You watched the rodeo? There's a rodeo program on TV these days? I'll have to look it up.
(2) I've been asleep at the wheel for some time regarding TV. Can't even recall MeTV although I did just look it up.
(3) Never heard the Rodeo Song. Just listened to it. Crazed.

Following NOAA/NHC they're predicting possible 20" - 30" rainfall between Charleston, SC & Savannah, GA. Guess Debby is going to stall out for a little while right over that area while it makes a big turn towards the North? Holy Guacamole....that will be devastating.

I hit eight golf ***** w/ my driver in the backyard: One drive was great (not excellent); one drive was mediocre at best (average); six ***** barely made 20' off the ground. I suck. May be a chance I can get to the driving range this afternoon sneaking between rain/showers.

Hi everyone.

Just got back from Walmart. I think Mom contributes to the lunacy. She rides around on a little electric cart because she can't do a lot of walking these days. But she gets in the way, won't move, tells people where to stand so she can get past. I'd tell her where to stand... I'm glad that's done for the week.

Norm we have the Cowboy Channel and right now it's all rodeo. There are other programs as well but the rodeo takes up the majority of the time during the summer. I watch the bull riding and bronc riding, but I can only watch so much of it and the other events I have no interest in.

Just beautiful out. Not too hot, not humid, sunny, and I'll be in the house this afternoon. I never did file my taxes(I did file an extension) so I'm going to do all that this afternoon. I used to have them sent in before the end of January, but I get back less and less every year so the urgency has gone. Well, whatever I get back will be Valiant money. Yay.

Best get to it. Cable man comes later. Work tomorrow. Have a good one you'ins.

Back from the driving range. What a difference. Instead of hitting six $hitty shots at home I hit 100 $shitty shots on the range.

Hi guys,

Long, hot day at the car show but at least we had shade all day under a huge outdoor open air Pavillion that you'll see in the 1st pic. That's my buddy's '66 Vette next to my car in the 1st pic. He ended up winning Best pre-73 Vette and I won Best Buick/Pontiac/Olds. They were only giving out awards to 2 places per class, and I felt very lucky to beat out both a 1970 GTO Judge and a 1969 Pontiac Firebird 400 among others. It was a great day!

Good morning everyone.

New week might as well start it off early. Doesn't look like the Saturday crew lined us up very much. Doesn't matter, there are precious few people here this morning.

Nice pictures Dan. Can't pick a favorite. For sure I wouldn't throw any of them out of bed for eating crackers.

Chris have you ever raced your friend in his Corvette? Good show on the trophy.

Cable man showed up last night, and just like I guessed, he couldn't do a thing. He did say he got an email saying they're working on it. So he did the I'm Going To Look Like I'm Worth What I Get An Hour bit and unplugged the box and plugged it back in, then went in the bedroom and turned the TV on and off. Give it 24 hours he said. Hallelujah.

So if it doesn't rain by this afternoon, I'm going to mow. It seems that's all I ever do. Oh and take Mom to the doctor. I was right, she has 6 appointments this month.

Okay gonna find something to do. It won't be work, there are no wall guys. Hope everyone has a good Monday.

Dan - Great pictures - some nice cars.

Chris - You need an antique trophy case your wife can restore.

Mike - I hope your cable TV gets corrected soon!

Thanks for the congrats on the trophy. My buddy and I kinda raced once, although it wasn't much of a race. We were on a 4 lane divided highway headed towards a show together. We were both already going 65mph and he pulled up beside me, and he let me hit the gas first, then he just ran away from me, not even a contest. It would be even more of an embarrassment from a standing start. For the time period, his 427ci, tri-carb, 4-speed Vette was probably in the top 2 or 3 fastest cars of the period. The only cars I can think of that might have been faster are a 426ci Hemi Cuda or Challenger.

I think it'll end up being just a sitting room, maybe with a small bar on one wall. I might be able to talk her into a display cabinet or shelves on the wall behind the bar area to display my nicer ones. I don't have much space right now, just a dresser top in one of the spare bedrooms that I've claimed as an office and place for some of car stuff. She claimed the other spare bedroom for her woman cave.

Well Everyone - Been a whirlwind of a day. Managed come dental discussions/consultations this morning (RE: implant appointments). Next, I hit the driving range for ~1 hr. Then, drive to next city over to pick something up after which I was going to grab a Mexican lunch. Got to the restaurant they are closed on Monday (I knew that, but forgot). Can't find my phone. Memory says I placed it on the tool box behind the cab (you know behind the rear window) - large pickup bed toolbox. Nope - not there, of course I just drove 3 miles and I think that's the last place I remember putting it. I forgot it. Drove three times back/forth seeing where or if it was on the road - nope. Ate at Jimmy Johns - Giant spicy Italian sub, chips & drink (I ate 1/2 of it) brought remainder home. Just finished a marathon series of telephone calls using a neighbors phone filing a claim to get a new phone. That's now done & I feel like someone beat me w/ a whip. Soooooo....exhausted dealing with robot telephones, explaining, re-explaining, talking, service personnel who want to up-sell, blah-blah-blah. Beat me w/ a F'ing stick!!!

Chris, congrats. Norm, no fire trucks. The last time one was there was two years ago. This show is changing yearly. There used to be two or three fire trucks, a bunch of antique boats and motors, along with vintage camping trailers. Most of them are gone now, with just a few of the vintage camping trailers that still show up. Too bad really, because it gave you a good variety of vehicles to check out. With the excepion of the L88,and 427 Cobra, the '66 427 Vette was one of the quickest of that era.

Dan - Going off memory what was that first little red car - I think it's a Ford? A Falcon? A Fairlane? Looks too small for a Galaxy. Just curious, is it a Falcon? I was looking at the boat. I think it might be a 1957 - 1959 Chris Craft "Continental"?
