I 'think' I found at least one completely bizarre issue w/ the PC. Appears somehow my HP Printer had Web Services enabled in the HP Control Panel Settings. Not sure how it got enabled, not 100% sure (yet) it's a primary cause of erratic memory behavior but it was throwing Application errors every one second. Oh well....

Having worked for MS for many years (Network Monitoring/Management) along w/ a background in various Operating Systems (outside of Windows, as well), I can attest MS Windows is the heavy beast of burden when it comes to Operating Systems for the consumer. I can easily see why many people become discouraged & hateful of MS Operating Systems - not simply because of the amount of work involved in updating and maintaining a simple (Client) computer, but MS Operating Systems are clunky & carry along tons & tons of unwarranted previous dynamic link library (.dll) in the Operating System 'Registry' - basically what I'm trying to say is it's a PIG & no matter how much lipstick MS tosses at these Operating Systems - they're still PIGS. So easy to see why retail consumers become annoyed. I have tons of good things to say about MS regarding Enterprise systems (Servers, Hyper-V, Networking, etc.), but at the retail consumer level they suck at it. No way in hell a DIY daily retail consumer would (or should) spend this much time troubleshooting/diagnosing issues when they arise.

Going to watch a little of The Masters then call it a night. Surprisingly, the PC is running flawlessly (for the moment). I'm far from done w/ troubleshooting/diagnostics - tomorrow I'll pull memory cards, employ some excellent PC contact cleaner, re-seat devices, change a couple configurations, etc.

Norm - Glad you got your PC going in the right direction so you can watch some Masters footage. I didn't keep up after about 4pm CDT yesterday because hockey started. I see Rose really tore it up out there, but Scheffler is definitely in the hunt.

It certainly does! It seems like we're having a threat of severe weather at least every other day here, often multiple days in a row. The warning sirens went off again early yesterday evening, but luckily all we got was heavy rain and lightning, without the super high winds.

Ugh, the price of success. My employer pulls more than they should because it is the American way to not trust an employee to have any money at all with which to pay taxes. Fine. My investments eat up whatever return that would've been, I usually owe at the end of the year, and then there's estimated for next year. I don't routinely carry the amount of cash needed to pay any due plus the next year's estimated in my checking account, and and my old man was angered one year when some stock had to be sold to cover that as cash in the investment account was low. I think he legitimately thought I would just cover the entire tax bill out of personal checking; he's incredibly miserly, getting old, and has narcissism control issues over anything he thinks he can run. It takes a very deft hand at social engineering to shut him down on stuff he is being daft about without causing a meltdown. Fortunately, it's the exact same skill used to take some irrelevant plant general manager who decides to flex aside and get him calmed and away from the project so he does not disrupt the schedule, so I have practice.

Yesterday we had an employee appreciation luncheon. BBQ chicken (very good), pot roast, salad, mashed taters 'n gravy, corn, cookies, and of course soda's. We have used this caterer before and he has an Italian restaurant, along with this catering service. Unfortunately this happened just after they left our place.May be an image of fire and text

Put spring herbicide down. Cheap 2 gallon sprayer is dying, so into the bin it went. Got ten years of it.

For some reason Buddy and I woke up at 3:30 this morn. Couldn't fall back asleep so here I am on laptop@4 AM! Yesterday was a beautiful day- a little cool but sunny. Got Suzie's quad back together and took it over to her. Glad that is done. Then cleaned up and went out with neighbors to Harrison Moose lodge for fish fry. Very good. Then stopped at local bar and had a few more- one of those nights where everything just clicked- Great time.
-- My friend Frank, who has (had?) pancreatic cancer just finished his last chemo treatment yesterday. When he left clinic he was asked to ring a bell loudly and when he left everyone was there at door- he said maybe 30 people- and wished him well, handshakes and hugs, etc... He got emotional- later at bar wifey got a bell ringer on her phone and we yelled for everyone's attention in bar and rang bell and announced Frank's last chemo treatment was today- Most everyone got emotional then also. Frank was diagnosed last spring after having stomach issues- a big surprise- They found Cancer in his pancreas but no other organs. So he had Chemo treatment, then they removed half of his pancreas and all of his spleen. They also removed a bunch of glands and found a trace of cancer in one gland, so back to Chemo again, but that was over yesterday. Soooo... We all hope for the best...
-- Have a good weekend, all.

Good morning everyone.

Here we are at overtime. Woo it's been awhile. Lots of guys came in and we're doing pretty well. Awful house afterward.

Greg that's great your friend beat pancreatic cancer! That's not the usual. Prayers that he remains cancer free. Is Suzy going to remain a part of your group?

My taxes went in March 30. I usually get my federal back within about 3 weeks. It takes the state months. I don't get it. There are way more people in the country than just Georgia.

Was out at my shop yesterday. Since I've owned the place the roof on the hangar has been coming apart. Well, me being as smart as I am never felt the need to fix it, and now most of the roof panels on one side are off and the wood trusses are rotted and falling in. The building is only a couple wind storms away from falling in. So I'm making a concerted effort to clean everything out and building a wall down the middle, so when that side of the roof caves in it doesn't take the whole place with it. After that I'll figure out how to redo the roof. It will effectively cease to be an airplane hangar with a wall down the middle. That's okay, I don't have an airplane. The whole place is no longer conducive to parking an airplane so if someone ever wanted to use the place for a plane they'd have to do more work than just redo the hangar.

Well have a good weekend everyone.

Greg - Sounds like you had a great day. We all need one like that once in awhile! I hope Frank has many, many more years cancer free, congrats to him! 👍

Good morning guys,

Beautiful sunny morning but pretty chilly, it was supposed to get down to around 35° last night.

Norm - Alot of big names up at the top of the Leaderboard. It should be an exciting weekend at the Masters! I may catch some of it later this afternoon, certainly the final round tomorrow.

Still trying to come up with a game plan for today & tomorrow. Do I want to take on oil changes for both the Daily driver and 4-4-2 or wait until tomorrow when it will be a little warmer and more comfortable in the garage?

Lots of hockey on tap today. NCAA Men's Div I Hockey Championship will be on ESPN2 tonight. Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, 30-miles from where I grew up will be playing Boston University. All my immediate family except me graduated from WMU.

My lawn needs to be mowed and trimmed. With all the recent rain on top of the weed & feed I put down, it's pretty tall.

Gabe had a hockey game last night, and has another one tonight. His streak of 4 consecutive games with a hat-trick came to an end last night, but he gave it one hell of an effort and ended up with 2 goals. He had a couple of other great shots on goal that easily could have gone in, but one went off the top crossbar and one off the right post, sooo close! I told him he played a great game and to start a new streak tonight!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Taking a break. One vehicle down (4-4-2), and one to go. Taking a short break. Tight fit on the Old's getting the filter out between the pan and headers with the large Wix filter. VR1 dino 20w50 here with the hot weather (not Kenneth hot). By the way, where is Kenneth??? Shout at you all later, breaks over!

That thing probably doesn't need 20W50, but you hibernate it over the winter, so it's not going to hurt anything. You're trading a little power for more viscosity. I run 10W30 in all the old stuff, but I will end up with a Floridian corvette at some time that has lived on the 20W50 version for 50 years. Not sure what oil I will run on it.

Kenneth come back! I think the last time he participated here was in November.

Chris can you use the smaller filter the 403s used? Or do a filter relocation kit. I forgot if your car is still a 400 or a 455.

Work was busy all day. I had two wall guys and signed 56 wheels. And we hit 150 before 11. And the young guys were mad that we proved we could make 150 in a shift. Hate to remind them we did 165 daily last summer.

Beautiful out. I want to go work at the shop again, but the dryer is going and I can't in good conscience go to a wooded area that I can't see the house while the dryer is going. I also want to put down some fertilizer on the front yard, but we aren't supposed to get rain for at least a week, so that's out. It's beautiful out so maybe I'll just wash the car.

I used to think the thicker the better with motor oil. I've decided that isn't always the case. Pretty much everything gets 10W30 now. Don't know what the Charger gets I haven't changed the oil yet. I'll look in the owners manual and see what it says.

Picked up the Olds this a.m., needed just a little coaxing to get her running. The storage building was kept at 45-50° for the winter, so that probably helped. I will be doing an oil change soon. VR1 10w30. I have a stash of ac filters that I procured from Scott Winn a couple of years ago, the blue PF24 & PF30's. Went to a memorial service for a vet this afternoon, I knew him casually as he was the older brother of my brother's best friend. Vietnam vet, former Marine and Green Beret. Old school rough, and a biker, but I got along with him just fine.

John - I don't mind trading HP for peace of mind when it's +90° out in the middle of summer. Plus, I think my minor rear main seal leak does better with the higher viscosity.

Mike - It's still got the original 400. Using the full size Wix 51049 is not that bad, just a little more messy getting it out. I have to tilt it and when I do that some dumps and goes all over the header pipes. Have to then wipe those off good unless I want to have a smoke out when I start her up.

I'm done with both vehicles now and glad I've got them out of the way. Going out to mow now, and hopefully get done in time to grab a quick bite of something then head for Gabe's game.

Everyone have a great evening!

Cars done, yard mowed and trimmed, I've had all the fun I can stand. A shower felt good getting the grease and grass off. Quickly made some PBJ's to get something in my belly. Gotta leave out of here in about 15-minutes. I'm recording the NCAA Hockey Championship game and I'll have that to look forward to when I get home, if I can stay awake?

Spent a bloody cold & very windy day officiating a U.S.KIDSGOLF tournament 1.5 hrs away (10 hr. day). Cold + wind = *** whipped (I are tired). Those kids are sumpin - there was a 6 yr. old in today's tournament. Cuter than a bugger - I wanted to lift him up & hang him from a tree limb/branch & just stare at him...haha.

Chris - Caught some of The Masters in the clubhouse ON/OFF during the day. Scottie Scheffler couldn't buy a putt today. Nice pack of players at the top of the field - exciting.

Mike - Thanks for the update/status on the wall/roof. You posted previously asking for suggestion(s) to which I provided a couple. I recall mentioning to you you'll need scaffolding to safely rectify your issue(s) to which you responded you can do it all on ladder - this is when the discussion ended. Setup a tripod/camera & video if you ever elect to attempt this w/ a ladder.

Dan - I have to agree w/ John. Better it happened after lunch than before lunch. BTW, I get my implant crown this coming Wednesday.

Greg - It is nice when it all comes together on any given day.

PC is operating flawlessly.

I will be a couch potato in five minutes.

I think Ken and I are on good terms, so it ain't me this time.

Went out to the new property with the tiller. I figured out how it drives. I've met Labradors with less fight than this tiller. My friend and I handed off while the kids raked. First couple passes tore up grass, but we eventually started ripping up clay and tilled the garden pretty well. We aired up 3 of 4 tires in my weird old trailer and the valve body broke off the stem of the last one. We will try some epoxy, otherwise we need a tube. Weird old farm trailer.

Bug bombed my yard barn. Nasty stuff, tried not to breathe it, then went in with the spectracide spray.

Oh, I am so old and out of touch!! We went up to Higgins Lake yesterday for our youngest granddaughters 18th birthday party. We are extremely proud of her. She was also in the process of deciding where she will go to college. It was a surprise birthday party at her uncle's mansion/cottage. She thought she was just stopping there on their way back with her Mom and others from a soccer game in Traverse City which she played in. After the big "SURPISE!!" she had to go get all fixed up for the production....
-- While she was getting all gorgeous her sister and other cousins/aunts got the stage ready. Her sister went around and "interviewed" all the guests asking what college they thought the granddaughter was going to make, A hour and a half or so she came down and sat at a table with all 5 colleges she was accepted at, college ball caps sat on table for each of them. So- now with cell phones rolling- she held her hands over hats and teased the audience and finally drew the hat from Notre Dame. WOW...
-- Everything is so dramatic!! Now this whole production is on Tick Crack or Face Sit or whatever!! Sorry had to vent. I have heard of gender reveals but I never knew of college choice revels...
-- so anyway it was a great birthday party and was good to see everyone. I am beginning to feel like a old grouch..

Good morning everyone.

My sleeping in consisted of getting up at 630 to let Tiger out, then going back to bed and not going back to sleep until 730. Eh, I'm not tired so I must have slept enough. Beautiful out.

Norm I really don't know what to do. Scaffolding won't fit because the trusses are about 6 feet tall and 24 on center. Once I got up on scaffolding I still couldn't reach the roof. A ladder is out of the question. I'm no carpenter so my wall will not be terrific but it should buy me a little more time. I tell you what I'd like to do is deconstruct the whole thing and build it somewhere else. That would probably cost more than if I just built a new building.

Gonna be a short week for me. Right now I'm planning on going to the museum in Reno Tuesday night and staying until Friday. There's no "Collection Manager" so the phone warmer suggested I talk to the president of the place. He won't get back to me so I'm gonna call again tomorrow. If I can't get ahold of him I'm just going to go out there. The other volunteers don't need permission to show up why should I? Over the years I've always called the CM really just as a courtesy and he's always said I could come out. What I should have done this time was tell the phone warmer I'd be out and be done with it.

Okay have a great day everyone. Time to go to Walmart. What fun.

Chris - Congrats to your Blazing Broncos. I slept like a rock.
Greg - Sounds like a nice birthday party for your granddaughter - very special. I've witnessed similar dramatic events from my (female) cousins including their daughters - an entire drama production.

The planets must be in alignment. I am watching a live feed of The Masters on The Masters website >>> https://www.masters.com/en_US/live/index.html

I don't know how this is possible. A free live broadcast of The Masters? I don't understand. I know it's a CBS feed because it's Jim Nantz & the other CBS announcers.
Well, I just did some research. You can watch The Masters free on The Masters website - I'll be darned. I'll take it.

Well, I just did some research. You can watch The Masters free on The Masters website - I'll be darned. I'll take it.
That's great Norm!

Norm - Great final round with alot of amazing shots, and many twists and turns! I'm happy for McIroy getting his Masters and completing his Grand Slam.

Nice day today, so I did some truck maintenance. I had been having a clunk shifting into overdrive letting out the clutch unless I was perfect, and I would hear a clack when on or off the gas, but only in overdrive. Suspected it was time to lube the slip yoke. This truck has no zerks anywhere, and it would have been a 3 minute job, most of which would be getting the grease gun and the cardboard.

The bolts were on with the wrath of God due to a bad dealership about ten years ago. I really think 200 ft lbs. These are smaller than lug studs. I rigged two jacks because one jack was just spinning the bolt. Got all four off and the shaft would not drop. Jacked up the frame to put suspension in full rebound and it was still there. Smacked it with a 1x2 and it fell down. U joints in phenomenal shape. It's a stick, I live in the sticks, it's a 4 banger with a V6 chassis, and I drive sanely.

Pulled it after marking and the slip yoke was dry. Put in moly grease. Reinstall was easy, no jacks needed, it slides in the yoke better, and I hit, I believe, the same spline clock, the same diff flange clock, and the same bolts went back in the same holes. I put about 75 ft lbs as my torque wrench would not swing. I think spec is 65, I pulled as hard as I could, that was probably that much lying down.

Went for a drive, all symptoms gone. Oddly, I heard a little bit of squish the first times I was on and off the gas in OD, I think it was grease moving around. I made sure not to overload the spline socket.
