Dawn took all the pictures of the "Blood Moon" and the lunar eclipse in the collage below with her phone camera. Like I've mentioned before, her camera is much better than mine, especially for night shots.
Here is the headline from the weather page on the website of one of our local TV stations:
Destructive Winds & Tornadoes Possible This Evening Into Tonight
The temp today is supposed to be in the low 80's. The winds are supposed to start picking up around 1pm, sustained around 25mph, with gusts >60mph. I'm not seeing alot of moisture associated with this front.
No big plans for today. May/may not get out and do some maintenance on the 4-4-2. To quote Norm from yesterday, why do today what I can put off until tomorrow. Or, next week!
Lots of hockey all weekend. Two games tomorrow, noon and 7:30pm. That's 4-hours driving time as it's 1-hour each way, and we will need to come home between games. Then depending on how they do tomorrow, either a Championship game or consolation game on Sunday.
Nice! Pics of interior door please? The strong winds have started...
Each of the six glass panes has been scraped to remove paint. Each pane (exterior, interior) is getting a Full Monty - Simple Green + razor blade scraping then Windex. Then, I'll take come pics...currently, no love for detailed glass cleaning.
One of my brothers in the U.P. (dontchyaknoweh) had 100+ MPH straight-line wind(s) w/in 50' of his house ~10 yrs. ago or so, eh. Absolutely leveled all the trees near his home much like a knife cutting a piece of cake. I had visited them ~2 weeks after the event. Remarkable to say the least.

Gotcha on the door pics. 100mph straight line winds, that's crazy. They've upped our potential for straight line gusts up to 75mph. Severe threat of tornados from 7 - 10pm. Don't want none of that $hit!
I absolutely loathe little ***** that show up this site and supposedly want help, but really want validation for the solution they have already picked out due to cooking the facts to support what they want, instead of what the situation needs, then start talking down to you after you have to resort to bluntness to tell them to take the damned advice already. I feel like the tiger in the tiger and the donkey parable. This is when Master Lee takes the gong off the hangers and summons the temple to dinner by using your head as a mallet, tadpole!

I hear ya, I see it time and time again on here! When my heater core was leaking inside the car I didn't ask for advice on what to do. I just made my decision to do a heater delete and went to it. I've never had a need for the heater or defrost in the 5-years I've owned the car, so I'll probably need it this year, LoL!

Of my old cars, 4 have their heaters, and 1 has the Dirty Redneck Heater Bypass, and it's the one I'd like heat in.
Can we get an amen.
Hopefully the "Little *****" are following the discussion and find value and respect with the humility of not ever knowing all the answers and discussing the ideas that have failed and succeeded for different applications...

Haugh "dance feet"... always makes a smile on the face
We got absolutely hammered last night with super high winds and golf ball sized hail. On the side facing the storm have 2 windows broken (interior pane intact at least) and the siding is absolutley trashed. Looks like it was shot with a shot gun shooting baseballs at 100mph. At least we're safe, but right now without power. Will post pics later. Got to conserve phone.

Chris - Holy Snot Rockets. You were pummeled. How about vehicles? Happy you're safe. Yikes, bud.

Thanks guys! Just got back from Gabe's game. More on that in a minute.
Here are some pics of the house, windows, fence.
Unreal, total destruction Same Dinette area window, inner pane intact Window above kitchen sink, inner pane intact Neighbor's tall solid fence on my east property line. Southeast corner of my fence. If you zoom in you will see multiple broken spots. It was this area where the fence got it the worst. I also have multiple fence post caps that have chucks out of them.
So, makes me sick just to look at these pics, but we and the dogs are alive. Thank God! I've heard 11 other poor souls in Missouri are not! Every house in the subdivision with a side facing that direction show the same kind of damage. At least we have insurance, but I'm sure it will be a.long, arduous process to recovery. The roof does not look bad from the street, but gutters, downspouts, and fascia are dented to hell.
Now on to Gabe's game. I'm very glad I went, it was a very nice distraction. The other team scored 1st in the 2nd Period. Early in the 3rd, Gabe got a semi-breakaway with one defenseman in front of the goalie. Gabe, realizing he had a trailing teamate, took the puck and defender towards the left side of the goal and then backhanded it to the right to his trailing teamate who scored, making it 1-1. Then with about 2-minutes late in the 3rd, the story every Grandpa dreams of. Gabe got the puck at center ice, and skated around 3 defenders. By the time he got past the 3rd defender he was very deep into the righthand side of the zone, with a bad angle to the net, but he let loose a rocket of a slapshot past the goalie into the upper left hand corner of net. Perfect placement. The whole play was perfect! Man it brought a tear to my eye. His team held on to win 2-1.
Well, that's some new windows and siding. That's replaceable. Who cares how it looks for the moment, just keep it watertight. Scope out your roof, too, bud, it may have taken a beating, too.
My area missed it, but there was a tornado that hit down in Oakland City some 25 miles NE, and lots of hail in Owensboro KY to the SE. We had rain and wind here.
Glad your boy did well.
Spending this rainy day welding together the next issue of the H/OCA rag. We're fighting with shipping issues, too.
Damn Chris, that siding took a hit, good to know that you and the missus are o.k. 79° here yesterday, setting a record for the date. 60ish today, and hazy as hell, as dust from the southwest U.S. paid a visit. I had a couple of windows open last night and today as well, until I went grocery shopping and saw just how dusty it was. Wind gust in the mid 40's, and I soon rolled my windows up on the car, then closed them at the house when I got home.. We have a hazardous air waring as of now, the worst that it can be, but no severe weather. Rain tonight, and snow tomorrow. Go figure.
Chris, Do you know if the house wrap, insulation or interior walls are damaged also
Jim - Honestly I don't lknow for sure at this point. There was no evidence of water intrusion during or shortly after the storm that I saw, except from under the window sill and.that wasn't much.
Got to get up and moving so this will be short. We got power back yesterday about 9am I think, but internet service is still out.
Gabe's team won their game last night 6-1, a true team effort as 6 different players from Gabe's team scored, including Gabe who had a goal and 2 assists. His team will play in the Championship Game this afternoon at 1230 against the team from Chicago that beat them so handily Wednesday night. We're hoping the kids put in their best effort and hold their heads high whatever the outcome. Even a 2nd place in a multi-state All Star Tournament is certainly something to be proud of!

John - Glad the worst of it missed you! Thanks for the congrats for Gabe. Good luck putting the finishing touches on the H/OCA Mag.
Norm - You had asked about vehicles. The only vehicle outdoors was my old truck. The driver's side was completely exposed directly facing the storm, exactly same orientation as the siding pics. I have not looked super close, but I did not see any dimples in the side, but I did see a couple small dimples in the hood. A plastic rain visor above the driver side window is broken, as well as a plastic light bar above the rear window of the bed topper. All in all, not too bad and nothing that I'm worried about fixing.
Chris - Truck sounds least of your issues for sure. Nice playing for Jake & his team. Tail end of that mid-West frontal system will pass through us this evening between 8pm - 12am. High winds tornadoes possible.
Dan - You've gone from 69*°F to snow in less than 24 hrs it appears?
I hung four large ferns on front porch, plant three Hyacinths & four Tulip plants yesterday. Installed a new brush sweep on bottom inside interior door.
Jim - My Azaleas are setting buds. My white Forsythia has two early flowers. I have about five varieties of Camellias which have been in full bloom for a month. Spring Beauty bloomed about 1.5 weeks ago. I planted two Windmill Palms twenty years ago - they were 2' tall when planted. They're now ~9' tall - very slow growing. Wildest thing about them, it wasn't until three years ago one of them set out a stalk of drupes. Two years ago each tree set out a couple stalks of drupes. Last year they each had ~3 stalks of drupes. I've noticed they each are now sending out more stalks of drupes. Basically it takes them to mature at least 15+ years before they set fruit.
Gabe's team got a rematch today in the Championship Game of their tournament with the team from Chicago that clobbered them 5-0 on Wednesday night in their 1st game of the tournament.
Today Gabe's team scored 1st, which really gave them a boost of confidence. It was 2-2 after the 1st, with Gabe scoring their 2nd goal. About mid-way thru the 2nd, the other team scored to make it 3-2, and I thought oh no, here we go? Then, with only about a minute left in the 2nd, Gabe's team scored to tie it up 3-3. It remained tied 3-3 until there was 4:30 left in the 3rd when Gabe scored his 2nd goal to put them up 4-3. That last 4:30 seemed like forever, and the other team pulled their goalie with 1:30 left. Gabe was on the ice for these final minutes and intercepted an errant pass for a breakaway and an empty netter with 30-seconds left for his hat-trick to seal it.
With 6 goals and 7 assists in their 4 games, Gabe was voted the Tournament MVP! I swear this is all true. If you zoom in on Gabe holding the Championship Trophy you will see it says Champion, just un-frickin believable! What a game!

Congrats. So much fun. Woo Hoo. Where'd ya'll take him for a sit-down feast?

Norm - The whole game was just outstanding. I was truly amazed the boys came out with such fire and passion after the drubbing they took on Wednesday. We wanted to take him out and offered, but they had to rush out. You'd of thought they would have had enough hockey, but they needed to get home and clean up before heading to a StL Blues game this evening versus the Anaheim Ducks. I'm assuming Mom bought the tickets weeks ago before even knowing Gabe would get selected for this team?

Norm, it was 79° Friday, and low 60's yesterday, a big swing. About an inch or so of snow on the ground at the moment. Chris, congrats on your grandson and his teams win.
