Chris I think you can do it. Is this an every year thing? Maybe you could enter one or two competitions your first time out and more next year. What good is all this weight lifting you do if you can't put it to good use now and then?
Mike - Yes, it's an every year thing. It might be smarter to pick just one or two events? The thing is, with the way the age bracket is set-up, 65-69, every year I wait there will be younger guys I would have to compete against. Also, another angle is the more events I enter, the greater chance for success. However, that could also backfire if participating in multiple events negatively impacts my performance in the events later in the day? I don't know what the right answer/combo is? Lots to think about.
I'm glad you got Tiger squared away on his shots for another year! There sure isn't anything cheap about taking your pet to the Vet these days, and we're not really happy with the place we've been taking ours to since our primary Vet died a couple years ago. However Dawn does not want to try a new place because it's the only place they've ever been to and they know the dogs complete health history. When it comes to the dogs medical treatment Dawn calls the shots (no pun intended), and I just go with the flow cause I ain't gonna win.
How about this. Sign up for all the events, and if you go through the day and feel like you can no longer compete or start feeling too tired, don't go on. No shame in knowing your limitations. Heck, I'd drop dead after 50 feet. You got this! I'll go up and cheer you on.
So has anyone used do it yourself bedliner on anything? I was thinking about using it on the inside of the blue van as a sort of noise/heat proofing. And now that he's become the de facto pickup, I could hose it off if it got dirty or greasy.

Mike - Actually that is the strategy I am thinking I might use. It does not cost any more to register for more than one event, and you can always just not show up for one or more events with no penalty. First I need to decide if I'm going to do it at all?

Mike - I applied Herculiner to my (now sold) F450. Great product. Held up to elements extremely well - no rusting, no cracking, no chipping, etc. I have a container of their UV Top Coat product I'm going to apply to my F250 this spring. I bought this jug of it a couple years ago when I noticed it was on sale - should still be good (I hope).
The door has been baking in the sun for 4+ hours off-gassing/evaporating. Spent ~2 hours more spot spraying for weeds. Went to grocery store for supplies during the next couple days as this storm frontal system moves through. I've been super fortunate on weather conditions applying these coats. Time to get at it...
The weather service is calling for Armageddon tomorrow from 7am - 7pm. Winds steady @40mph - 45mph gusting 60mph - 65mph. I get these Alerts from MyRadar app. Thirty minutes later (five minutes ago) another Alert forecasting strong possibility of supercells later tomorrow afternoon/evening. I'm thinking high profile tractor/trailer combinations, motorhomes won't be going anywhere - well, I hope they get a heads-up anyways to plan accordingly. I can only imagine anyone navigating through Smoky/Appalachian Mtns. Yikes.

Norm - That sounds pretty ominous! We've got tornado watches and chances of other severe weather thru this evening and into tomorrow morning. We've already had some lightning/thunder and heavy downpours. Of course Monty is having his usual meltdown.
You'd better batten down the hatches if you have 65mph gusts headed your way. Good luck and stay safe! 🤞
Chris - Thanks. I hope to stay safe. This is an enormous low pressure system with a tail absolutely packed w/ tight isobars developing a lot of energy. Supercell formation(s) worry me the most.
Norm, I'm guessing that you are north of the fires? Dust storms in the southwest, blizzard conditions in Nebraska w/65 mph winds. Parts of the U.P. could see 20" of snow. Rain here through tomorrow, turning to snow Thursday, with maybe 1" of accumulation. Brought in paczki's for my dept. this morning. not that I need more calories for the waistline.
--Mike, I used the Rustolium brush on bed liner on floors (top and bottom) of the F100, and also the bed. I originally tried the spray stuff and it clogged up immediately, so took back and got a gallon of brush on. I put on with cheap "chip" brushes- I think they aren't even paint brushes but brushes used to remove metal shavings, etc, from lathes, etc. I like those brushes for bed liner as they make a sort of brush stroke look and they cost maybe 50 cents so you use and throw away. I like it I use 2 coats.
--Up to about 38 degrees this morn and raining, snow should be gone soon. Planning on going over to barn today and finish up truck winter stuff and maybe work on Olds winter project of putting in AM-FM stereo radio, speakers, etc. Boy I feel better w/myself if I do something each day. This business of lazin' around and watching Perry Mason reruns is bad... Even worse all the streaming that is available now a days. Wifey is fallin' right into it- binge watching, couch potato stuff- so far I am refusing to do that....
We got some pretty hard rain early this morning but I don't think we got bad storms. It was raining really hard when I woke up at 245 but it stopped at 3. Then I looked at the phone and there was a warning that said storms until 3. Hm. Was still raining but not real hard when we left the house. Not doing anything now but being cloudy.
Greg do you notice less noise/heat in the cab of the truck than before? I was thinking roll on stuff, and a brush is a good idea to get it into corners and whatnot.
Norm you only used it in the bed of your truck?
I fall into the couch potato bit easily. When I was little Mom sat me in front of the TV to keep me occupied, and even now if I sit down in front of the TV I can be there for hours.
Got some rearranging of things at Mom's after work today. She wants the spare bedroom to be cleaned up and look nice for when my sister is here. I don't know why she isn't staying there. That's just Mom.
Yes. The F450 had a flatbed stake body with a custom (Texas) polished aluminum mounted utility package - 5th wheel hitch, goose neck hitch & 20 enclosures (w/ doors). When I bought the truck (Dayton, OH) I removed the older 5th wheel hitch & goose neck hitch, sanding down the bed area then installed the Herculiner before installing a new 5th wheel hitch & goose neck hitch. I used one of those cheap plastic rollers & a plastic spatula/paint scraper. Worked like a charm. I had a bunch of images I took during the upgrade(s) I performed - those were all deleted. I have a couple (bad) images from some place in Oregon I had to stop for the night to get some shut-eye along some road in the middle of nowhere.
Jim and Mike - Glad you escaped any really severe weather.
Greg - Well, here's a change, you wake up to rain, and I wake up to the yard partially snow covered and snow still coming down here at 0930. It should stop soon, it's supposed to get up close to 38° later. However, we're supposed to have sustained 25mph winds with gusts up to 50mph throughout the day. I don't feel the least bit guilty about watching 3 or 4-hours of TV with Dawn after dinner in the evening. I'm usually busy with something throughout the day and feel like I deserve a break.
Our appointment to get our taxes done is at 7pm tonight with a new tax preparer. I'm glad we decided to leave "Block", they had just gotten too expensive.
Chris - Appears to have abated somewhat. Best guess is the squall line arrives between 4pm - 5pm.
Glad to hear your revised forecast for this afternoon is not as ominous as it was yesterday, and hope it stays that way. 🤞
Your wind forecast is almost exactly what we are experiencing right now. The snow has stopped here and what little we had on the ground is almost gone.

Yes, I'd love nothing more than to see us slip right through it all. Time to flip the board.
Tornado warnings ablaze on my phone, finished cleaning my brush, back into the house just before the rain started. Should be out of hear in 30 minutes as it breaks on through to the other side...
Scheduled an appointment on Saturday with Safe lite to have my windshield replaced. Pulled into my garage last Wednesday after visiting the chiropractor and went WTF? where'd that come from? Was about 6" coming from the base of the windshield on the drivers side, now at about 8". My insurer uses Safe Lite, and they happen to have a place about 5 miles from me.
Dan - I recall you mentioning a crack in a previous post. I've used Safe Lite on two previous occasions. I was very satisfied w/ both replacements. I hope it works well for you. BTW, they came to my home both times.

I've used them twice also, also at my home. Very satisfied!
Exterior facing side finished. It's sitting in very direct LED lighting - appearance will be so much better once its hung. Applied stain to the interior facing side & applied base coat of Sanding Lacquer Sealer. Will sit O.N., sand then 1st coat Spar Urethane tomorrow (fingers crossed). Still planning to finish prior to Christmas 2025.
That is a level of exterior worthy varnish aggression right there.
Blowing like hell and spitting snow here in the Evil.
Cleaned house Sat and Sun. My sister delayed coming up till midday Mon, and we went to my aunt's house and met up with my brother and mom. My cousin was using her mom's house as a good place to put guests for the funeral. I spent the night on, and I confirmed it was so, the Worst Pullout Couch Bed in the USA Monday night. (I own the best pull out couch bed, incidentally. It's a La Z Boy). We looked through old pictures and laughed at many.
Suited up Tuesday and went to funeral. Long time there, family time, visitation for everyone time, funeral time. My aunt did not look like herself, they did not do the best job. Every woman was bawling. It was rough. I had talked with the preacher, who is also another cousin's father in law, so, after hugging family and passing by my aunt, I reference him quoting Solomon in Ecclesiastes about a time for everything by saying I thought the Byrds said that. Everyone went into the lobby, my brother and I and a cousin, and a cousin's husband, and another cousin's husband, and a second cousin were the pallbearers. Second time I have done that, they had it worked out. Long caravan to the cemetery. Fortunately, the rain held off and we could go uphill with a load to the site with dress shoes. 15 minutes there, and that was that.
Had quite a spread for family and friends at the house. Hung around for many hours, put my suit away which I managed to keep unsoiled from food, collected my sister, and drove home. Gave her a nice fire in the fireplace as she had some work reading to do, and she went home this AM. Got my teeth cleaned, and was planning to go into work, but the weather is crap enough I just worked from home this afternoon.
Norm - I think the exterior of the door looks fantastic, and I'm sure the interior will too! I love the red mahogany color! Stay the course and I believe you will be extremely proud and satisfied with the result.
John - It sounds like the funeral went off without a hitch. I'm glad you could be there to support your family. There is never anything easy about having to lay a close relative to rest, believe me I know, I was a pallbearer for both my Grandpas, two uncles, and gave the eulogies for my Dad, Mom, and Brother. Those three eulogies were the toughest things I've ever done in my life.

Chris - Thanks. Direct LED lighting is great in providing a working light environment but terribly ineffective in replicating any form of natural lighting. I think the door is going to be a big improvement over its painted predecessor life. Looking forward to hanging it when its complete. I am NOT removing paint from the interior door & staining that door. It has (1) six glass window panes & (2) I am never going to remove paint from profiled 5-panel solid core door - never. The interior (house) door leads directly into the kitchen. This (current) rear door leads into the house, as well. The two doors are separated by a small mud room - it isn't a breeze-way, it's really a small mud room. You'll get a better notion of it when I get done w/ both doors and you can see them both hung on their hinges.
Norm - Understood, I look forward to the final results. BTW, my old house had 3 entrances to the house. A front door accessed via a walkway off the driveway, a side entrance directly off the driveway, and a back entrance from the pool deck into the sunroom. The side entrance off the driveway was into the mudroom/main floor laundry room that was separated from the kitchen by an interior door. The mudroom also had a very large and deep sink. That sink was great to scrub out my muzzleloader barrels after shooting. I loved that house and had put alot of time and elbow grease into making it my own, until it wasn't!
