I had a pretty darn good day yesterday. Yesterday I was looking into the "Bland Foods Menu" to get some more protein into my diet. I chose Scrambled Eggs with just a tiny amount of milk in the mixture, cooked in a Teflon skillet with no oil or seasonings. Along with the good sized portion of Scrambled Eggs I had about a half cup of unsweetened Apple Sauce, and half a Plain Bagel with nothing on it. I was able to keep it all down with no stomach distress.
Big weekend coming up, with what hopefully will be a bunch of fun activities. On Saturday there will be what I consider to be one of the best Car Shows of the year, the American Graffiti Show in DeSoto. This Show typically draws +250- cars/trucks and is very well run at the VFW there. On Sunday is our StL Oldsmobile Club's All Oldsmobile Fun Show that's been sponsored the last several years by a local Automotive Restoration business in Arnold. This is always fun too to be able to see 90 to +100 very nice Oldsmobiles in one location. The final event will be Gabe's 1st regular season hockey game at a rink in Edwardsville, IL about an hour's drive from me at 4:45pm. I will have to leave the Oldsmobile Show early in order to get the 4-4-2 home, and change clothes and back on the road to Edwardsville, but there's no way I'm going to miss Gabe's 1st game.
Chris it's wonderful you're feeling better and can keep down real food. Steady as she goes...
Work has been slow this morning. Lots of wheels, nothing is broke, but come to find out my new robot guy is a slacker and it's pretty well known. Great. Well the robots are the lead's sweetheart so if he screws that up he'll be out of here in a flash.
Nice out but cloudy, supposed to rain. It rained in the night, I didn't see it but everything was wet when I left for work. Supposed to get more tonight. Yuck.
I ate FAR too much garlic on my garlic bread w/ lasagna yesterday. Not powder mind you but tons of chopped garlic. Terrible tummy ache. You’d think I learn.

Oh crap, I'm contagious!!! Norm I hope it goes away soon! 🤞
Chris, glad to hear that things are improving. Norm, I keep cloves of garlic in olive oil, in the fridge for making garlic toast etc. Awhile back I mixed some of the oil with butter for my toasted Italian bread. Whoa! way too potent. I'll have to use much less in the future. Small car show on Saturday, about a mile away., Temps should be upper 70's. One or two shows left for the season, that sucks.

I love garlic. Not sure what I was thinking when I piled it on so high. It took the majority of the day to return to near normal. Tender stomach is what it was. Garlic is off the menu for several days.

Well, it sounds like the pain has gotten substantially better now and I'm happy for ya! I'm really hoping with time I can get my stomach back to the point where I don't have to worry about what I'm eating?

Dan - Thanks for the well wishes they are much appreciated. I'm glad there's another Show for you to get out to Saturday! I just took a look at my Car Events spreadsheet and I'm seeing 8 potential events thru the end of October to choose from here. The way this season has gone I'll be lucky to make it to 3. The weather looks great here too for the 2 Shows I'm going to this weekend and I'm thankful for that!

Sunday looks to be upper 70's here, so after the Lions game I'm going to take a cruise, as there aren't many days left to do so.

That sounds nice! The weather is supposed to be really nice here too, low 80's, sunny, and 0% chance of rain all weekend.
Speaking of the Lions, I thought they played a great game against the Ravens. However, WTH has happened to the Tigers??? One day they're 10-games up, and I blink and they've pissed it all away. What a colossal collapse, and I don't think their overall record will even get them in as a Wild Card team. Pretty sad!
Good question. They were up 15 games at one point. Now they may not even be a Wild Card contender.
They're up 4-1 in the 4th against the Guardians right now, hopefully they can win this against them to tie it back up. Then I think they have 3 games left on the road against the Red Sox who have a good team.
I didn't finish the one (underside/backside) coat of the remaining 23 planks yesterday. I managed 13, ten remain. Applying all these coats to 37 planks is taking a toll on the middle of my back.
37 planks x 10'L each = 370' x 3 coats each = 1,110 linear board feet = 0.2 of a mile
Each board is ~6"W = 1110' x 0.5' = 555 sq. ft.

Keeping a very watchful eye on Disturbance 1
Norm - That's alot of staining to be sure! I commend your perseverance to get it all done, but don't cripple yourself. I hope Disturbance 1 makes a hard right and gets out of Dodge like the others have to date! 🤞
Norm - It's doing better, thanks for asking. I've been able to hold down all my food for 3-days in a row (Tues - Thurs) now, and a very light breakfast this morning, with no belly ache or nausea. The trouble is, my weight is still in freefall (ref chart from my fitness scale). I've now went from 173lbs on 9/14, to 158lbs this morning. I do not want to risk eating any larger meals at this point for fear of a set back, but need to find a way to take in enough calories to curb the weight loss. Today I'm going to start trying to eat multiple small "safe snacks" throughout day to take in some more calories.
Norm - My age is 65 and my Smart Scale is reporting to my Fitness App that my current BMI is 23.4. My Smart Scale is supposedly accurate to within +/- 5%. I take the values with a grain of salt, and use it mainly to track trends, not actual values. Attached is the main screen of the Fitness App that shows the metabolic and body composition values the Smart Scale reports to the App on my phone.
Chris - Great numbers. Unless I'm missing something 158lbs is nearly ideal?
Norm - You're not wrong, 158lbs is great, and I look good. However, as much focus as I've had on my health thru the years, I like to think I'm pretty in tune with my body. One thing I've noticed thru the years is that if I get much below 165, my immune system seems to weaken and I get sick easier. Plus, I just don't seem to have the same energy, stamina, and strength as when I stay around 165 - 170. That's why my weight goal (on screenshot) is set at 168. If I can get back up to 165 and maintain I will be ecstatic.

Dawn's off having a sleepover with the granddaughters on her side tonight, so the dogs and I are going it alone. Generally that means no one will sleep well tonight with Momma gone.
Got the car loaded and I will head for the Show at the VFW in DeSoto shortly after daylight. It should be a nice day, sunny, mid-80's, and 0% chance of rain. Sunday's a repeat on weather. I'll leave for our Old's Club's Show about 7:30 am Sunday morning and leave there about 2pm to get home in time to change, grab a bite of something, and head for Gabe's hockey game in Edwardsville, IL at 4:45pm. His game won't be over until 5:45, and then it's an hour and 10-minutes home. It will be a long day Sunday, and overall a very busy, but hopefully fun weekend!
--Sounds like a great time for Dawn, daughter, and granddaughter. Is it a girls only sleep over? Good times!! Hope you and the poochies can sleep Ok without her there. Funny how dogs have their routines and when something changes it just aint right!!
-- Today Wifey and I are going to my "50th Jubilee class reunion". Any graduate of Dewitt High School , class of 1975 and before. They have had separate reunions of my class of 1974 but now we are old enough for the 50th and above. It is at 11 am. Lunch at noon and over at 3 pm. A bunch of ol' farts for sure! After reunion we are going to Owosso Speedway for roundy-round races. Should be fun, haven't been to the races in a long time.
--Truck is doing fine. Olds has been sort of neglected the summer- UGH getting to be time to put stuff away. Bunch of neighbors have already taken out boats.. I think too early for that- usually still nice sunny days into October- maybe even 1st of November.
Chris & Greg - I hope you both have pleasant days. I'm thinking I might start cutting up some porch planks today. Modest amounts of light rain, showers & isolated T-storms today but I'll be fairly well protected under the porch roof. Isolated pockets of rain forecast daily for the next two weeks w/ delightful autumn temperatures mid-70s daytime mid-60s nighttime. Bang the Gong.
Slept until 7, that's four hours longer than I usually would. Nice being off on Saturday; overtime will be Monday.
There's a big car show in Senoia today, they block off the whole downtown and cars are parked on the streets. It's a nice time. I missed it last year. Today looks gloomy and rain isn't ruled out, but their website doesn't say anything about a rain date so as long as it isn't raining I'm gonna go. I think I posted pictures from two years ago, a blue Imperial convertible and the Bluesmobile.
I'm at my wits end with Tiger. He's been scratching and licking all summer. I spent a fortune on Apoquel and it didn't do ****. The doctor says, just give him Benadryl. That doesn't do much, either. Although he is supposed to have 4 at a time, and I give him 3. I feel like I'm poisoning him. I don't have good veterinary support. The place I've been going for 20 some years has been reduced to a joke, and the all night place has changed hands and takes appointments up until 4 in the afternoon, and are closed Friday Saturday Sunday. Apparently animals don't get sick on the weekends. Lots more I don't like about them. Last night Tiger was on the couch and I tried to look at one of the places he's licked bare and I got snarling and teeth. He knows better than that so it must really hurt him. He didn't move all night. This morning he's a little better, better disposition anyway. I just don't know what to do. This is the first time ever that I've wished for cold weather to come early.
My friend with the bad eyes is doing well. He went to a specialist on Tuesday and his thought was to do nothing and see how it goes. Thursday he went back for him to reevaluate it and they rushed him into surgery. Fluid under the retina. They could have done that Tuesday. Anyway all went well and things will settle down in a couple days. He gets new glasses out of it and I told him to get owl rims, he might look smart.
Guess I'll get ready for the day. Hope you enjoy the show Chris. Hope the hurricane deflects from the coast Norm. Hope you have a good time at your reunion Greg. You know what it was three years ago I went to this show. Two years ago I had just had hip surgery.
It's gonna take me awhile to get caught up with today's goings on, but thought you might want to see the pics from the Car Show today. Beautiful day and a ton of really nice cars. Great Show! https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...3/#post1651080

Mike - Glad your friend is OK and had the surgery. The retina is located in the back of the eye so the fluid you described builds behind the retina as opposed to under the retina; yet, fluid buildup behind the retina is how you can develop a detached retina - a more serious condition. Glad he got the surgery early. Central serous retinopathy is the condition -`usually caused by excess corticosteroid use or excess cortisol.
