My main man is headed norte to Elberton Ga [granite capitol of the world] to pick up sum markers, So I'm hitching a ride to bring the Vista Cruiser home [to continue to try to sell it]. Being so far away didn't help people that "claimed" they wanted to see it

The weather man had this temperature calendar this morning.

The forecast calls for more of the above.

"Hey, at least it's a dry heat!" yuk yuk yuk

I was texting yesterday with my college roomie that lives in Houston area. I mentioned that I needed to get some golf swings in soon before he comes up for a golf trip, and he said he does NOTHING outside right now. F that East Texas heat. I don't know how y'all do it.

I grew up and lived in that area for 30+ years before moving to the desert. Hot and humid was a way of life. I didn't know there was anything different, so it was just the way it was. And I had AC, unlike my Mom and her brothers who grew up there without it.

Not Kenneth hot, but:

101° F, 48% humidity in the shade, and not even the hottest part of the day yet (2pm); RealFeel temp with humidity factored in 115°F

I do believe it must be different for people born and raised there. When my wife lived in E Texas (Tyler area) as a field parts rep for GM, she hated that heat. We started dating (long distance) then, and I joke that she used me as her lawn boy. Every time I came down, I'd spend a few hours getting her yard back in shape from the last time I was there. One bonus for her was that she drove many T/A's as company cars that the dealers couldn't sell, because GM kept forcing t-top cars on them. She had a couple of WS6's, and she regrets not having purchased one to keep as a toy. That definitely would've forced me to get rid of the Starfire much, much earlier.

Good afternoon guys,

I was really hoping to be able to go to the "Moose is Loose" Car Show tomorrow put on by the Union, MO Moose Lodge. I went to this show last year and was lucky to get one of the 2 Best in Show awards (one by Judges and one by the Lodge) they gave out. However, the forecast does not look good with substantial rain forecast through tonight and mid-day tomorrow. I have the car packed, but I doubt it's going to happen. My back-up plan is to go to a show in Ellis Grove, IL, about 65-miles away on Sunday. This is about the farthest I would ever go to attend a show, but it looks like the only game in town on Sunday, and I really would like to get my car out to at least one event this weekend. Hope everyone has a good weekend, and stay safe and cool if you're in the heat belt.

I have been quite blessed with close family.

Moms Dad, Jake ( Papa ) - Kept a daily note in a kind of journal on a Wisco book/calendar format when he retired back in the late 50's early 60's, for his last years of stuff he was up to from day to weekend and such, fish bites... weather...family gatherings, poker nights, bowling nights, trips with Nana to see my aunts and uncles etc. I enjoy reading every day he logged.

One Christmas Mom put the book/calendar Papa kept that was the year us 5 were born...1958,1961,1962,1964, and 1967 in each of our Christmas stockings so we could see what he was up to for our first birth year. ( She will be 90 this December and is a shell of the Mom I knew) another time another story.

I have to look at Papas book for my year "62", when I get going in the morning some days to see what he was up to that day when I was a pup just burp,n in my diapers that day.

An interesting trend for the weather patterns he noted is they were and are, really not too much different then, as they are now, we have patterns with flows and eddys. In my opinion we can, and will just expect the only thing that is for sure ... it will change again. Chicken Little once had a plan that did not quite work out.

My 2cents

Oh yeah…some relief. About 10 miles outside the leeward edge of a storm cell moving through & we managed to squeak out ~8.5 minutes of the wet stuff. Yeah baby.

I can't tell you how much better I feel over last week. Thanks everyone for the well wishes. My suggestion to you is to not get cellulitis.

Was nice today but hot! I messed around with the Chevy all day. I wanted to change both headlights. I had one from a parts car I could use until I found out all the tabs had rusted off. I found -one- at the auto parts store. I wanted to mess with the parking lights in front. When I first looked they would light up but not flash. Today when I started one of them would flash, now one of them won't light up at all. I think the sockets are old and crusty. Not sure where to go next. Replace the sockets I guess.

Well my extended time off is over. Tomorrow is Walmart day and then I'll go back to work on Monday. I probably could have gone to work Friday, but heck what's the point of working only two days a week and both of them Monday?

Mike is recovering. This is good.

I dragged branches today around the house to the driveway for a good hour or so. Still need to figure out where I am putting it all. I have some ideas. Arm feels better. *** still hurts a little at times.

Mike and John, glad you are both doing better!

The weather man was wrong again and all the rain we were supposed to get last night and early this morning never materialized. So since I already had the car packed I headed off early to the "Moose is Loose" Car Show in Union, MO. It was a very nice show. If you would like to see the pics you can use this link.

Cleaning the shop this morning and I have The Beach Boys good vibrations box set playing. Its got a bunch of demos and outakes.
My air is on of course but it will only be tolerable until about noon.
I haven't got any work done on my 64, but my truck is moving forward, English Color was able to mix the 35 studebaker color we wanted and it looks too cool

anyhow, our network at work has not blocked classicoldsmobile, but it now times out every time, so I can only get on here from home.......

Got a vacation coming up Olympic National park,Port Angeles, the Washington coast up near forks, , Oregon coast, crater lake, and bend Or, and Deschutes forest.... I can't wait. Im over the south and this summer

Truck is still taped off but here are a couple little pics

Truck is a 55 Chevy on a bobbed and boxed 94 caprice it has a 9c1 limited slip a 6.0 lq9 ls motor and a tko500 5 speed
i made a rear disk brake kit out of a generic jegs brake kit but had to turn the axles down to make the 5x5 flanges fit inside the rotors

i also have a complete abs system off the caprice. It’s a standalone system called a Bosch 2u. Or something. Anyway I’ve got the
gm tech manual and at least on the bench I can make it all work /tangent

That's going to be a wonderful vacation. I made a similar trip directly after I retired.

We went once and tried to fit too much in, we wanted to make it to Spokane and maybe out to Missoula on this trip but we will have to miss those again.

We were able to reserve a cabin at the crescent lake lodge in the park. That took about 14 months to get the reservation

The lodge has rooms as well but being built in the 20s it has shared bathrooms at the end of the hallways.

I partially restored a '53 five-window GMC short-bed in the mid-70s while on active duty w/ USAF (Norton AFB, CA). I loved working on that truck. Had to sell it when I was transferred. A person I became friends with in the 1980s retired as NPS Superintendent of Redwood three months after I retired so I got to stop by and see Steve his final week of work. My West Coast trip was from the top (North) down to Zion National Park. I spent two months on that West Coast trip dragging a 40' toy hauler, Indian motorcycle in the back pulled by a 2003 Ford 450 7.3L diesel tractor. Fun trip.

As Jim would say, headed norte in a couple of hours, as my appointment for the mini split install is tomorrow. Also hoping to stop on the way and snag a clothes dryer, purchased from an old high school friend. By the end of July, the cottage will be a little more like a home, no longer relying on window ac and a propane wall furnace, and finally (after almost 10 years) not having to lug laundry back and forth. The place was never set up to have a washer and dryer, and I only have room for the washer inside. Garage will be the home for the dryer -- not ideal, but will make me happy.

Been trying to get ahold of a guy to go look at a quad to keep at the cottage, too. Will be used primarily as a tow vehicle for the jetskis, so that I won't have to drive the gas pig back and forth every time.

Seriously oppressive heat - 100°F HI, RH 88% - any wind (when it does blow) feels like a blast of air from a smelter plant.

Not any better here. 118* heat index. Thankfully it’s no longer 118 actual temp like it was earlier in the week, but the dew point is rising.

We had a violent front roll thru between 4pm and 4:30. High winds, lightning, pea sized hail, and driving rain. Lost electric power and currently no estimate for restoration. Our biggest worry now is that it doesn't get too warm in here for the dogs. Bulldogs do not tolerate heat well at all.

Changed the oil in my truck. Let it go too long, though I do use Mobil synthetic and the best purolator one can buy. Valve cover gasket leaks, it was down a quart over the large service interval.

Talked to the man of the house to the north for the first time, he agrees the pines should go, but they have no money. This is fine by me, I'll pay for that tree to go on my own, just wanted permission. Talked to neighbors to the south as well about trees.

Then I went and hauled logs of this fallen pine to the driveway. I have a few more chunks there, then branches from other trees, then I can mow.

I'm working on the sound system in the living room, need to expand the rack, and get that giant liquor cabinet online. I need to see if it will fit with where I want to move the back left speaker. I want my rear speakers a few feet further back relative to my recliner.
