Union, MO Moose Lodge Car Show, 7/15/23, Post #1
Hi guys,
I attended the "Moose is Loose" Car Show at the Moose Lodge in Union, MO today. We really got a break on the weather. A front went through last night and we finally got a break from the stifling heat. The show was well attended with a very nice variety of cars and trucks. I was fortunate (I think) to come away with a special award, Best in Show as voted by the "Women of the Moose". All I can figure is they liked the the pretty aqua color. It was a very fun day. There will be two posts of pics, so please hold off on any comments until I get the 2nd set posted. Hope you enjoy them!

As always that you so much for the pictures. Car people are just awesome how we keep our favorites going.
Few comments:
I have always absolutely loved early Valiant/Barracuda's. Damn this car is super super sweet.
Great looking custom Buick. I love that there are no fake GS emblems on it. Mad respect for that.
This 57 looks like an interesting car. It was an anniversary year. You could order a silver interior car in a 57 Bel Air. I knew someone that owned this exact same car. It looks like it has that Silver interior. Be curious if this car has Colorado roots. Beautiful very nice car.
Not jab to the owner but 57 Bel Air's can't hold a candle to a 57 Oldsmobile. We all have and are allowed to have an opinion so it's personal preference. I know they are iconic etc but I will take a 57 Oldsmobile over a 57 Chevy all day long. Buick and Pontiac cars too. So much better looking. This is still a beautiful car. Zero knocks on it.

no1oldsfan - Thanks for the comments. I liked all 3 of those cars you commented on, especially the Barracuda. It was totally set-up for racing, but has never been on a track, which is a shame. Loved the silver on the '57. The interior was aftemarket 2 tone, black and white. Who knows though, it might have been silver originally?

I am pretty sure the silver interior was only offered in 57 in a Bel Air. I could be wrong though. Hate to say it now but the more I think about it my friends car was black I am pretty sure. Had factory wires too think. When he bought it around 1977 or so it was chained to a tree with a long chain and big lock. Ha ha.
How in the "Bleep" do you build that Barracuda and never have it on the track?? This world is so upside down sometimes. Talk about What's the point.

All the trucks look so good. Pretty much every year Chevy GMC or Ford is good looking. Our family truck as a kid was the two wheel version of that blue and white C-10. I think our earlier family truck was a 63 Chevy. Had a wood bed still.

no1oldsfan - I certainly agree there were alot of really nice trucks there, The maroon Studebaker was outstanding, and I think it won Best in Show Truck.
John - Ya, that trophy is hilarious. Looks like art you might have seen on a customized Van back in the late 70's. Thanks for checking them out!

The maroon Studebaker is actually not two-toned when you see it in person. It's just the lighting/shadows playing tricks in that pic.

Something I have learned in paint, or in publication layouts, is that something cannot be a little off. It either lines up or matches bang on, or it needs to be off enough to look deliberate.
