3-day Car Event in Festus, MO Post #1

Hi guys.

I attended the Car/Truck/Motorcycle Show portion of a 3-day car event in Festus. MO, which is about 30-miles directly south of St. Louis. The show seemed to be focused on Custom Trucks and 4x4's, but there were also some nice classic cars also. Here are some of the pics.

Mr. Moderator - There will be 2 posts with 20 pics each and would sincerely appreciate you combining them. Thank you!

Chris - Thanks for sharing. Several cars I'd flick boogers onto their windshields & a couple I thought were nice. The TEXAS t-shirt gal is a bonus.

You're welcome. The Texas t-shirt girl was a fortunate coincidence, but there was alot more and better scenery there, much better than most of those ridiculous custom trucks! To each their own though, I.can't begrudge them their passion, it's no different than.some of mine really!

Thanks as always for taking the time and posting pictures like you do. I love that old White and that custom tanker. I really don't mind all the newer school stuff. Not my gig but we are all car freaks. That's what matters.

You're very welcome! I agree with you 100% on the newer school stuff, their passion is the same as ours, just a different generation!

I was around the trucking world for many many years. I absolutely love old school Tractor's. Fastest I have ever been was in an uncut Pete. 1200 horsepower. 75,000 pounds running frozen meat to Kansas City from Denver. 148 mph and wanted more. Smooth as silk

Man, that's smokin, I had no idea they ever built any big rigs that would go that fast!

Nice pics! Helluva show! That custom tanker with the "Wallis" logo looks like the build that was on "Texas Metal" recently!

67OAI - Glad you enjoyed the pics!. Getting to share the pics of the events I get out to is one of the great joys of the hobby for me.

no1oldsfan - Thank you for the very kind comment on my car, much appreciated! I can't take any credit for how nice the restoration is, it was done between 2014 - 2016 by a father and son up in a suburb of Detroit. The father had been a body man and assembly line worker for Oldsmobile in Lansing for 40-years. I do however put a lot of time and effort into keeping her looking nice and well maintained. She's definitely not a trailer queen, I drove it to 35 events last season.

Glenn - Very nice to hear from you! Thank you for the nice comment about my car! Going to a pretty big show on Saturday about 65-miles east of me in Illinois. I should have a bunch of pictures from that show posted by Sunday evening. Hope you are doing well!

Unfortunately or fortunately those days are long gone. I think every truck is governed now. We had four uncut (no governor) tractors out of 24. Man those drivers could get it done. It is wild going that fast with that much weight. With the air seat you feel like you are on a cloud. Very wild. Experienced drivers and a CB radio you had a clear path.

No we had a driver that got arrested for something unrelated. That load of meat was 150 grand twenty five plus years ago. I was the dispatcher. I also had my CDL so one of our best driver's rolled in but had no log time. So in I went. Cool experience but once was enough ha ha. 100 mph was nothing to those trucks. 359 Peterbilt.

Accurate depiction of the vehicles. Some people have no skill but taste, and some have skill but no taste. I've forgotten what a non-SS Monte Carlo nose looks like. This is the way the 70-72 OAI hood is getting.

Agree 100%! I won't go to this event again, just not my thing. It was the only game in town that weekend and I just wanted to get out with the car.

Thanks for posting. There are some nice cars and a few nice trucks but I think there is more weird ugly stuff there.

I think there was a good mix of vehicles, something for everyone at that show.

oldcutlass - My pictures were probably skewed in the sense I took pictures of almost all the classic stuff, and only the nicest modern/customs. In reality it was probably 85% modern custom 4x4's, trucks, etc. and 15% Classics. Awards were very skewed also. For example, in the Street Muscle Class, there were awards given to 5 places, all the awardees were 2010 or newer. It was not cheap either, $40 to enter.
