The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
This situation is what people get when they don't use engineers.
As for the hearing, the problem is not the hearing; the problem is that people do not understand that, when they speak, and they hear themselves, that doesn't mean that they are heard, and minded, by their audience.
People need to shut up except for communication when others are present, and people need to converse at the right volume. The problem is touchy people get butthurt if you speak too loudly, so you have to talk loudly enough to be heard, but not so loud so that they get pissed because you must think they are deaf. Also, some old people are REALLY irritable already.

Of the approximately 10 submersibles in the world capable of descents such as Titan, only Titan is not certified. According to its owner-Princeton graduate and aerospace engineer, safety certification would slow-down development.
Ironically, the lack of safety surrounding the Titanic and the way the captain operated the ship is the very reason the ship is resting where it is today, and why it cost so many lives. Our infatuation with wealth, our curiosity, and oftentimes misplaced conception of what is important keeps incidents like the Titanic and the Titan newsworthy.
The search is expensive, should the proletariats paying for the search and rescue expect any repayment from the families of these super wealthy individuals because of the lack of judgement they displayed in the name of progress and adventure? Probably not.

I do not regard Princeton as an engineering school of note.
This, as I am sure Norm will agree, is what peer review and industry standard and certification is about. If there are standards and industry knowledge, you follow them, and get certified. If you are doing revolutionary ***** and there is no certification, you test. That submarine should have been certified. Failing that, it should have been tested on a control tether.
One man died because of his arrogance and that's fine. What's not fine is that he took others with him.

God help me, I did a garage sale today and will again tomorrow. Things people do not buy in garage sales: wall art (no matter how nice it is) and mirrors. Although, I did manage to get rid of 5 pieces... 3 right off the bat that were in garage art condition, from Detroit Grand Prix 87, 89, and 90. And to the lady that wasted my time with the cots, F U. Try looking at the price tag, and don't show up right at the end of the day thinking you will get some bargain. I want to sell it, but not THAT bad.
My 16 year old son ran the sale for me today, since I had to work. I split the money with him, and of course let him have all the proceeds from the sale of his bike.

When my wife ran hers earlier this Spring, all I did was tell her what things of mine could go, and then helped carry up the heavy stuff from the basement. The best thing about her sale was nothing came back in the house, everything that was left went to the Goodwill.
I wonder if they'll ring the Ship's Bell 5-times at the Maritime Sailor's Cathedral in Detroit for the folks that died on the Titan submersible? So tragic, but from everything I've heard this afternoon it sounds like they went almost instaneously. Suffocating from lack of oxygen and/or carbon dioxide would have been much worse a fate in my opinion.
Thanks , yes it was an awesome evening .
Wow , a friend of mine was visiting California and Arizona and he understood why people not wearing

Tanks guy, the only [maybe valuable maybe not] info I can offer is I bought one of those bulb /peroxided Debtox home kits several weeks ago and it did nada. The doctor used something very similar only alot more pressure [water] after loosening the Gunk. Perhaps I was too timid [read afraid of hurting my ear] or he jes knew WTW he was doing
Jim - The hammer, anvil & stirrup are the tiniest bones in the body - very fragile. However, the ear drum is even more fragile. I think you did the right thing seeing an M.D. since it's unlikely the supermodel would have been of any assistance. Not sure if you recall or had a childhood ear infection, my Mom made a tincture of apple vinegar + rubbing alcohol applied a bunch of drops 2-3 times/day for ~3-4 days - each time plugging our ear(s) with cotton. Of course, childhood ear infections are often different than adult ear infections and it's difficult to tell if the infection is either bacterial, viral or fungal. Glad it worked out simply for you.
Norm When I was a pup I often got what they described as an Ear Ache . They [parents] would take some kind eye dropper blue bottle and heat it in a pot of water on the stove and when hot enough drop a few drops down my ear[s] Hurt like a MFer but worked Ya gotta remember I have a few years on many of my Olds friends and have had Jenson violet applied to burns and Iodine on hundreds of cutsj
