With me leaving the house for Gabe's hockey game at 0720 in the morning, what do you think the odds are of me not hearing how the Gold Medal game is going before I get home???
https://www.simplyrecipes.com/southe...recipe-8583161 Norm I found a New one. Because I am on a plant based diet, I have to leave off the sausage and use veggie stock. BUT if you decide to try it PLEASE enjoy some andouille [of maybe even boudin] i found another recipe with Hopppin John instead of pasta.
Much better today. Saw lots of jungle critters- Lions, Hippos, Impalas, Tik Tiks, A Leopard, Elephants, Giraffes, Ostrages, wart hogs, Topies, Heart antelope, Gazelle, Mongooses, Little Monkeys, on and on. Hippos are unbelievably gross, About a hundred of them all gathered in a river- shitting and flipping tails- they **** a lot. It really is weird to be treated like royalty- not something I am used to. Tipping everyone is not something I am used to either- 2 bucks at least for anything- 15 -20 drivers etc. I got what I thought was plenty of 1-5-10 and 20 bills at bank b4 we left but we may run out. Though I think there will be less tipping on River Nile boat and Med Cruise ship. Anyway having a great time, prolly only time we feel like Royalty in our lives except for our Ireland trip in 2010. Well after I get home I'll post some pics.
Greg tipping sucks for the traveler but that's the only way some of those people make any money. You don't tip at all in Australia and if you say something they give the retort of, if you paid people a living wage in America you wouldn't have to tip! Eh, whatever. The trip sounds like a lot of fun. When you have a couple days to yourself let us know where you are and we'll all fly over for the next Good Morning Thread get together.
Beautiful here but chilly and windy. I'm going to take two of the trucks to fill with fuel this afternoon, then gas up the car on the way to the airport tomorrow. One less thing to worry about when I get back. Tiger always has a fit when the suitcase comes out, but I'm going to start packing and when I'm done I'll just put the suitcase back in the closet. I'll take him to the kennel in the morning and won't finish up until I'm home and he isn't here to see.
Jamesbo you can eat sausage. Pigs eat plants. Corn is a plant. Whatever we get off pigs is because of plants. You're golden. Oh shoot that goes for bacon, too.
My sister is coming Tuesday to take Mom to her house while I'm gone. Mom is not really looking forward to it and I know my sister isn't. Mom is very capable of being by herself, but if she gets in a jam and needs help there isn't anyone close to help her out. She'd have to call the fire department. None of us needs that kind of stress.
WooHoooo!
Someway in hell I was able to stay away from hearing any updates on the game. Started watching when we got home and just finished. What a win for USA Hockey. Connor Hellebuck was by far the MVP, he was other worldly in Goal! I'm so happy they brought home the Gold!!!! 👍
In Gabe's game the other team scored first very early in the 1st to make it 1-0. Then early in the 2nd during a melee in front of the opposing team's net, Gabe found the puck and flicked a backhand into the net to tie it 1-1. Then Gabe scored again late in the 2nd on a wrister from the point to make it 2-1 us after the 2nd.
It was all downhill from there though. It looked like our boys, including Gabe, ran out of gas in the 3rd. The boys were playing every other shift instead of every 3rd shift like usual because of their missing players for the 2nd day in a row. The other team scored 4 in the 3rd, the last on an empty netter after we pulled our goalie, and they won 5-2.
They had a short team meeting after the game and the Coach announced some awards. Gabe was the only player on his team to earn a "Hat-trick" patch, he will be getting 4 of those, that includes his two 4-goal games. He was also the only player on the team to earn a "3 Assists in a game" patch, and he will get 2 of those. Remarkable season! 😃 Looking forward to his Spring 4-on-4 Season starting in a couple of weeks!

Greg - That sounds just awesome!!! I'm glad you're having a good time. I'd love to be along for the ride! 👍 Can't wait to see the pics when you get back.
I should buy a car. I’ve said this before. I’m thinking of a hybrid. I have a 50AMP outlet off my main service panel I installed ~12 yrs ago. I’m thinking 50 AMP should be sufficient?
Soup looks damn good Norm. I installed a 50a receptacle for my BIL fast charge Tesla you will be good. Hybrid would be the way to go in my opinion also. Do you have a make/model in mindhttps://www.motortrend.com/rankings/hybrid-cars

Norm - I agree with both you and Keith, I think a hybrid would be the way to go. Much more versatility for longer trips if you want to use it for more than just buzzing to/from the golf course or grocery store!

Keith - Thanks for the URL link since I keep having to find that site which I've viewed previously - it will save me time. I have not have any particular model in mind, as yet.
Chris - It will primarily be used to/from golf, groceries & local trips; but as you suggested it will find some mileage on longer trips on occasion.
Damn! It won't be be happening w/in the next several days, for sure. Reviewing my stock portfolio today demonstrates a SOLID A$$WHOOPING, so this is (once again) going to have to wait for some recovery. Nothing short of a tilt-whirl roller-coaster ride the past year. I'm so fed (pun intended) up with this $HIT.
Understood and I agree. Cost (Value) vs Fuel and short trips vs Road trips. Unless one will put miles opon miles per day/mo etc... will the extra cost for the 26 hybrid miles per gal math work out.
I think the 2025 regular with discounts and finance may be a better value option one could consider.
I have a 2018 Outback Touring trim with the 3.6l (I would recommend keeping an open for one of these as they do not offer that 3.6l any more and is a blast to put your foot into) with avg. 27mpg 48k mi since bought new, good resale, reliable and fun to drive in comfort with safety features up the ying/yang. Question to consider, is it worth savings of the extra 10mi per gallon when using primarily for shorter commutes for an extra 10-15k for new???. Now finding a well kept owned with pride is time consuming and doable for sure.
The hunt is sometimes more than 1/2 the fun.
If you are current with JD Power as a buyer price guide it is helpful when browsing. A mechanics pre-purchase inspection may be worth the negotiation tool as well.
My 2012 pick'm up truck is my daily just cause the hound can be a dirty lil beotch and she loves to ride along.
Norm, it looks like you are going to have some killer chicken soup. A hybrid for cruising comfort, I would consider a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. An suv for hauling small things around, like golf clubs.
Hi guys,
Sunny but cool here today, barely got above freezing for a high. As per usual this time of year around here, it will be warming to the mid-60's by the weekend. The rollercoaster temps are wreaking havoc with my sinuses, or I've got some kind of bug again, either way I'm not feeling the greatest.
Had a scare today just going to the grocery store in town. Dawn called me while I was there because she thought of another item she needed. After we hung up, instead of putting my phone in my pocket like a normal person, I laid it down on the store shelf. Well you know what happened then! I no sooner got in the door and realized I no longer had it. Luckily someone turned it in and they had it at the front by the time I got back up there. Whew!!!
I can't believe the Olympics are already over. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a great change of pace for something to watch on TV, especially if you love sports. This pic from these Olympics will be indelibly etched in my brain!
Jack Hughes, teeth broken out and mouth bloodied from a high stick earlier in the game, returned to the ice shortly after it happened, and later scored the game winning goal for the USA in OT. Now that's one tough ****!!!

Dan - Thanks for your input. I think the Accord & the Camry are both good candidates.
Unfortunately my friend passed away, but we knew that was going to be the outcome. They are having a celebration of life this Sunday at a boat club that he belonged to.

Dawn got some new medicinal spray for Monty that's supposed to lessen bothersome skin conditions/itchiness for pets and keep them from licking their paws so much. Now everytime we threaten to spray him with it, he just taunts us!
I removed the ceiling mounted overhead shower faucet, disassembled the various components, soaked them in acetic acid (vinegar) to remove residues, installed new compression washers & O-Rings, reassembled then remounted.
