Ha. No, there are no lights inside the shower - they're a reflection off the glass partitions. I thought I'd point that out. LOL

Good morning guys,

Warming trend is starting here today with a high in the mid-50's, and looking forward to around 70° on Saturday.

Not much on the schedule today either. Dawn and I did go to get our new glasses yesterday and we are happy with them.

My little goalie Keegan has his "end of the regular season tournament" this weekend on Sunday. It really isn't a tournament per se, but showcase type games in their regular 2 games back-to-back format against 2 separate teams, each game being 30-minutes in length. Gabe is going to have the opportunity to go to 2 separate week long hockey camps this summer. They are all day camps, but not overnight. I will be responsible for getting him there every morning because of Mom and Dad's work schedules. He's excited about getting to go!

Well we haven't heard from Mike, but he is half-way around the world. Hope everyone has a great day! 😃

Norm and Chris, thanks. When we moved into the old neighborhood in '66, Augie was a firefighter and the nearby firebarn, which was about a block from our house and about 200' from his house. He later joined the Sheriffs dept, attaining rank of Sargent, Lieutenant, and then becoming a detective. My best friend's older brother, who worked for protective services, frequently went with him on child abuse cases. When we got together for breakfast, there were many stories to be told.

Dan - Great memories for sure! At my Brother's visitation (2-days), and the reception after his funeral, I bet I heard a 100 stories. I sure wish I'd heard many of those before he passed, but he was never one to brag on himself, or his accomplishments. I know now I never gave him enough credit for how fine a law enforcement officer he was!

Guess we'll see, he's a fiesty little dude, and a real competitor for sure!

I am still marveling about many of the saves Hellebuyck made in the Gold Medal game!

Detroit (Pistons) play the OKC Thunder in 10'. Pistons are having a good year. Cunningham is out of control - outscoring Michael Jordan in avg. points per game.

Norm - I'm sure your Clams were delicious. I've tried both Clams and Oysters multiple times, cooked multiple ways, and a little goes a long way with me. As far as shellfish, I'd much rather have Shrimp any day!

Dan your sandwich and waffle fries look great!

I don't follow the NBA anymore. I probably should watch the playoffs when the teams really start playing. They play so many regular season games there's no way teams could possibly play at full tilt every night, and they seem more like exhibition games. I was surprised when you said the Pistons were having a good season??? They've been mired in mediocrity for so long! I followed the NBA in highschool and even got to see a game in the old Cobo Hall when Bob Lanier and Dave Bing were there superstars, and also the "Bad Boys" years with Rodman, Lambier, and Isaiah Thomas. I was always a Celtics guy loving the teams when Dave Cowens, Kevin McHale, and John Havlichek played, and of course the Larry Bird years. Loved the Celtics vs Lakers rivalry back then!

Good morning guys,

Warming trend continues today with sunshine and low 60's, looking at low 70's tomorrow. Then I saw "possible wintry mix" for Sunday morning, I wish Mother Nature would make up her damn mind!

No big plans for today. Looking forward to Keegan's games on Sunday around noon. Need to remember to order a Wix filter for the 4-4-2 soon. It won't be too long now and it'll be time to fire her up!

Hope everyone has a great day! 😃

Chris - They're a mess of mussels - not clams. Most folks are commonly unaware of the physically appearing difference(s). Clams & mussels are Mollusks (Bivalves) as are scallops & oysters. The general appearance of a clam shell is a modestly rounded circular shell most frequently containing shell surface ridges while a mussel is most frequently linear/elongated with no or very few shell surface ridges.

Modest history of mussels used in button manufacturing. I have been to & studied several Mississippi River sites where mussels were harvested for button manufacturing.

Additionally, many mussels were/are used for both knife handles & weapon pistol grips.

I knew the NCAA hockey regular season was winding down, and I didn't want to miss any of the playoff action so I looked up some of the scheduled dates today.
- The Big 10 Hockey Tournament starts March 11th
- The NCAA Hockey Tournament (Frozen Four) starts March 26th

With 3 Michigan schools total in the NCAA Tournament last year, and Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo, MI) winning the National Championship, I had a blast watching the NCAA Tournament last year. Michigan State, Michigan, and Western Michigan will be right there in the hunt again this year. Both the Big 10 Tournament and the NCAA Tournament will be exciting from my vantage point!

Current NCAA Men's Hockey Rankings

Norm - Thanks for the tutorial! I could look this up, but I'll ask you instead. Are Mussels restricted to fresh or brackish water, and Oysters to salt water?

Chris - Both mussels & oysters can be found in saltwater, brackish & freshwater environments but far, far fewer oysters are contained in freshwater environments.

Chris - I gave you the 10,000 foot elevation tutorial. Saw no need to explain the complex phylogenetic tree of Mollusks (invertebrates) which is likely second only to the more difficult phylogenetic tree of viruses.

I got tagged by a spider of some type - on my right wrist - really small pimple w/ some outward radiation. Drives me crazy with itching which is slowly beginning to subdue.

l sure hope it wasn't a Brown Recluse bite! I'm sure you're keeping a close eye on it to make sure the site of the bite doesn't get uglier!

They're very uncommon in this area, but I have seen a couple. The venomous necrosis is significant as you know. I've witnessed a couple individuals who were bitten by a Brown Recluse while working in the Ozarks - nasty.

Yes, the bites are horribly nasty! They are very, very, common here. I would bet most people around here have one or more in at least their garage or basement at some point. I've found them in my homes from time to time, even though we have the exterior and interior of our home sprayed in the Spring and Fall every year. I'm always very careful going thru stuff that's been stored in the basement for long periods of time. They don't scare me per se, but I sure don't ever want to get bit by one. Dawn is deathly afraid or any spider or snake!

Can't say what spider bit me, but it has the hallmark symptoms of a spider bite. First noticed it when I got up in the morning several days ago like a pin-***** then began itching, then slight to modest pain radiating outward and downward beneath the skin. Washed it w/ Hibiklens then applied Polysporin for a couple days. When the mild pain subsided and the annoying itching took over I applied Campho Phenique. I've been applying Campho Phenique 3-4 times daily since then. The itching has stopped but the swollen pin-***** pimple won't go away. Eventually, it will subside. I got tagged on the big toe of my left foot about 9-10 months ago, as well. That sucker took about 4 months to subside. F'ing spiders.

Two sunny-side up eggs on wheat toast (one egg on leftover biscuit), with 4 slices of fried SPAM on the side. Should meet my protein needs for the day!

Not surprising. Speaking of spider bites, have you ever seen "the spider" that has bitten you, I know I haven't?

Another spider story. The 1st day I started moving into the home I'm in now, I saw something I had never seen before or since, a dead female Black Widow on the garage floor. I've never seen one alive in the wild.

Got on the internet and scoured every automotive site known for the best deal on a Wix 51049 for the 4-4-2. Best deal to be found was thru Amazon Prime for $16.19, that included tax and free shipping. You could purchase the filter on Etsy for $10, but you were then going to have to pay $9 USPS shipping. Wow, the price of $hit just keeps going up and up and up. When I bought 2 Wix filters 2-years ago on Amazon, they were $11.49 each, that included tax and free shipping. A Wix 51049 at O'Reilly's was $22, and $25 at Walmart!!! Just crazy!

I've seen tons of both Black Widows & Brown Widows - they're everywhere around here. I've seen them nearly everywhere I've been - maybe I have an eye for them?

You very well may have an eye for spotting them! After I saw the one in my garage I kept my eyes out for quite awhile looking for one in the shrubs/beds around the house/yard and never saw another.

Chris - I prefer Wix #33033 fuel filter ($9). Should be in-stock at any local parts store. Heck, even if they don't have the one you want let the part store pay the shipping.

I've been evaluating this fiber optics cable company Brighspeed for ~1 yr as I noted they were installing fiber optics cable the past year. About one hour ago a Brightspeed sales dude is knocking on my door. Short story - I signed up. Install is one week from today and they'll bury the cable. So long to Spectrum.

Small bit of info. The avg. Black Widow/Brown Widow spider has a venom which is ~x15 times stronger than snake venom (drop-for-drop based upon volume).

No, as a matter of fact I don't think that at all. I'd be worried about that redness around the bite site. If it darkens or spreads anymore you better get your **** to a hospital, seriously.
