Yeah, had it not been for Tempered glass you'd have been splayed open like a flounder.

Norm - Mike said he was removing a Wood Stove from the home. I don't know this for sure, but maybe all he has to deal with on the roof is an insulated metal flue pipe and not an actual chimney?

Hopefully the bleeding has abated. Obviously use compresses. I realize it's late, but Aluminum Sulfate will quench/stop the bleeding & make you squeal like a pig for a couple minutes. A styptic pencil is Aluminum Sulfate. If the cut is larger than a styptic pencil can address, if you have any "dry" antiperspirant, Aluminum Sulfate is the active ingredient in an antiperspirant.

Then there's superglue. Medical grade preferred. You get a temporary teleport to hell for 15 seconds, then it's glued shut, heals, and falls off a week later.

Wow, Mike !! Actually falling on that table may have been better than hitting the hard deck. As it broke and twisted up the frame ,etc, it slowed your fall. Eves trough cleaning is a huge injury causer. Hope you recover quickly.

Hi guys,

I had set my alarm to get up at 0500 to do some last minute stuff like move vehicles around, etc. in preparation for the Siding Contactor to be here this morning. It started storming probably sometime around 0100, coming in waves, a torrential downpour at times. It's still storming right now and it looks like a river in the drainage swale behind my house (pic). I'm guessing it won't be until mid-morning until they come today if they even come at all. No word from the Contractor yet.

Hey Jim - I was posting about the rain/storms here this morning and got that stupid *** message about needing a moderator to review my post before it would be shown??? Absolutely nothing controversial in it???

Hey guys,
Gonna try again. I have no idea now if the Siding work will start today or not, it's been storming/raining hard since about 0100 and still is right now.

Good morning everyone.

Thanks guys. I actually feel better this morning, I didn't think I'd be able to get out of bed. Had a latex glove on my hand in case my finger started bleeding and this morning it seemed okay. Bleeds a little when I hit it but not anything like yesterday. I think I actually cut it on a sharp edge of the gutter and not glass.

So I got up and hit the showers and then ran my errands. Post office, credit union, veterinarian. Got Tiger medicine for allergy and for fleas. He's had both now and already he's not scratching as much. Part of the problem is his nails are about 6 inches long and he scratches just because he scratches. That will be taken care of when he boards at the end of the week.

Norm the chimney is just a metal tube coming out of the roof with a cap on it. This was put in circa 2009 with the wood burning stove. It is about midway down the roof but standing up is not a problem the roof is not steep. Being up there at all isn't a problem except yesterday I was close to the edge and going backward and my knee slipped into the gutter. I have plywood and flashing and extra shingles to patch with.

So, the plan for the day is to finish the gutters, take down the chimney, start the floor. Going to Summit tonight.

Okay have a great day everyone.

Here's me being a dumbass. I started my previous post after I read John say I would be impaled and dead. I didn't see there was another page.

Greg let me say that I'd rather have hit the deck directly than falling on the table. I will be finding glass forever. As I was falling I was grasping for the gutter, I don't know what it would have done for me except pull the whole thing off the house. If I would have done that and swung at all I would have hit the glass sliding doors going into the bedroom and I don't think that is tempered. Then I would have had shards everywhere, been impaled and dead, and glass in the bedroom.

Chris that stream going through your neighbor's back yard looks like a lot of fun. Do they have little kids? Good luck with the siding people.

Here's a question. Jamesbo if I called you and said I was impaled, could you call 911 from your house and then tell them to come to my house? Of course if you were here you could take pictures.

Okay daylight is burning.

Mike - Glad you're feeling better today, and your finger has pretty much stopped bleeding! Also glad you were able to get some meds for Tiger and he's getting some relief. Good luck with all the tasks on your list, I don't envy you!

Siding work has been canceled for today. I'm not surprised as more rain is supposed to be coming thru between 10-11am. They are shooting for tomorrow, 7am.

Gonna hit Walmart after the next wave of rain gets thru, as I don't want to be loading in the rain if I don't have to. I need Water Softner Salt very soon, and a bunch of Diet Mtn. Dew.

Hey guys - Well the round of rain that was supposed to come thru between 10-11am never materialized. I'm back from Walmart, which took me longer than I anticipated because I ended up buying 2 new pair of casual slip on sneakers, one to wear for everyday, and a separate pair only for mowing. The soles were starting to come loose on both pair I had been previously wearing for those purposes. It will be interesting to see how long these cheapo shoes actually last. I also bought some Rye bread and celery to use in making chicken salad sandwiches later.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Tee time was 9:00am. Absolutely oppressive heat + humidity. I think my team took 1st place. I ate at the club, food is always good there. I cut up a nice super ripe seedless water melon last night & brought several 1/2 gal. baggies w/ big pieces, I think everyone enjoyed the watermelon. My new Wheelskins steering wheel cover for the F250 diesel tractor is out for delivery, should be here in ~1 hr. Mike, Chris was correct about your insulated metal flue. Be safe. Pop-up T'Storms all around us here but nothing amounting to anything to saturate the ground. We could use a deluge at this point it's been so dry. I always buy Minnetonka classic moccasins. Durable & comfortable. I definitely get my moneys worth from them. Hopefully, I might be able to install the Wheelskins cover this evening - takes ~1hr - 1.5hr to stitch it all up.

Well we got rain that we weren't supposed to, quite a lot actually, so all outdoor activities are suspended. And I don't really have any indoor activities planned.

My plan of doing floors in the living room to surprise Mom has hit a dead end. I don't have any place to put the carpeting once I rip it out, and I don't want to leave it out in the rain. Without the carpet out no floor. I've also made a new decision about the stove. It stays. Removing it would give minimum benefit for now, besides creating a lot of work patching. Also, even though it's in an awkward place, I think at resale it will be better to have it, than to tell people it used to be there and that's why the ceiling looks funky.

I did get more of the gutters cleaned out. I took my tall ladder over and could stand on the ladder and get to the gutters. The only one that remains is the gutter over the back windows, and I didn't have the nerve to go up and clean that one. I don't have a ladder tall enough to stand on.

It's after 3 and still raining so Summit will be canceled. Too bad, I was looking forward to making an evening of it. I do need to get out there and get a body dolly. I need to take the wheels off the Amphi but still need to be able to move it around. I've got a Corvair shell on one and it's perfect.

Chris you might have seen I started a thread asking about that 67 Cutlass I saw in Celina a few years ago. After a couple days 135 people looked at it but no one commented. No surprise there. It's probably still squirreled away in there shop building. It hasn't shown up on their website for many years. I should have just bought it. The car was a disaster and they wanted 7500 bucks for it, but 6 years later I'm still thinking about it so I should have just bought it. I hate Saffron so my plan was to do triple 1967 Chrysler Turbine Bronze.

Mike - I tried to find that '67 right after you posted but the only one I saw was this one & supposedly it sold. EDIT: Well maybe it didn't sell but wasn't listed any longer.

Ya that's it. It looks better than I remembered. I'd put a top on it and drive the heck out of it. I don't know how Classic Cars.com works, but I'd assume if you don't keep paying they take the ad off and saying it's sold is just a standard message.

Maybe I'll stop by there when I'm in town and inquire. They may laugh me out of the place but who cares. They probably ended up sending it to auction.

Fresh bullet holes? Trunk lid from a different car(?); hopefully no blood in the trunk. $7500 I'd think was a good price to be honest.

A little late to comment, but I will. Mike glad that you survived the fall w/o any serious injuries. We might have to get you a safety harness.

Mike, if you buy that 67 and paint it bronze, it needs a 400 that is also bronze. Four way bronze.

I'm sure those are stickers. I actually talked to the guy who sold it to the place. It was his project, he lived in town, and had it sitting in the yard with a tarp on it. A guy from the dealer stopped by and asked if he'd sell it. The owner wouldn't tell me what they gave him for it but said it was about half their asking price.

Mike - Sorry many of your plans got derailed because of the rain. Honestly, I don't ever remember looking at that thread, but I'd bet a paycheck I know where the car was at you looked at. Was it at a place called Custom Rods & Muscle (CRM Auto Sales) in Celina, very close to the lake on the North side? I actually went out of my way to go over there in 2019 on my way to Michigan, same trip when I went up to look at the '67 I ended up buying. I went over there to check out a '65 4-4-2 they had advertised. They wanted $25K for it and it was horrible, tons of crap that was going to need to be fixed ASAP just to safely drive it. I looked through several of their buildings while I was there and everything was outlandishly overpriced, and they were just plain rude to boot! They were sure proud of their junk!

Nice simple Summer dinner. Chicken salad on Rye, Bush's Baked Beans, dill pickle spears and an ice cold Rolling Rock (maybe 2 if ya twist my arm).

I don't think any arm twisting is necessary. Chicken salad using a croussaint is pretty good as well.

Norm - If you don't even feel like eating anything, you obviously spent too much time in the man-kiln. Hope ya get a good night's rest and finish it up in the morning when it's at least a little cooler out there.

Chris - Thanks. You're correct - it's like a kiln in there. Like the dunce I am I didn't think to put a fan in the truck while working which would have helped significantly. Humidity @ 5am supposed to be 95%. Mamma Mia.

72 H/O is being shitty. I replaced the front brake hoses because of a problem, got into the back, and that hose won't seal. I've got a Delco one on fast ship, so I will hopefully fix it Wed. It's really funny to work with the back brakes with good and bled front brakes. You get about 25% of bad pedal then rock. That's the proportioning and metering going on. I don't like being under it with the wheels off, but this is requiring multiple back and forths. It's on two stacked railroad ties on each side, with a jack stand in parallel and a snugged up floor jack on each side. That's three devices. The ties give great stability, it's like it's on a table. May take the truck to H/OCA nats.

Norm you can always install air conditioning.

Yes Chris that's the place. The guy was nice to me, but he had no intention of getting that car out of where they hid it. Up against the wall under a lift that had something on it, with another row of cars behind it. Lots of nice stuff, and like you said, grossly overpriced. How they stay in business is anybody's guess.

Well I've decided to paint the hall bathroom. Even went so far as to fill the imperfections in the walls and take off the switch plates. Haven't decided on a color. It's an ultra small room, but I was thinking a nice, bright red. Mom would hate it. My original idea was aquamarine with white wainscoting. Also get a victorian dresser and mount a vessel sink on it, turn it to the side for a custom vanity. I've searched for years for the right dresser and have come up with nothing. So I'll just paint and be done.

Oddly enough the bathroom is an icky green and a pinkish orange. And the bedroom I just painted is lavender. I was going for Chevy Evening Orchid but it came out lavender.

I think I'll go take a picture of the underside of the first Cutlass's trunk lid. That car is Reef Turquoise. I'll match up the color on a card and that will be the color. Not metallic obviously, but that will be the color.

It rained here a lot of the afternoon and it's actually cool out and not too humid. Of course we're tickling midnight right now, maybe more rain tomorrow. It's a welcome break from the Georgia version of heat oppression.

Good morning guys,

Siding contractors showed up at 0700 and started shortly after. Pretty loud in here and the dogs are pretty freaked! Hopefully they will calm down after a little while when they see we're not freaking out.

I've got to go pick Gabe up at 1140 and get him to catch his bus to overnight Church Camp for the rest of the week. Thankfully they are staying in a smaller lodge with A/C, it would be absolutely miserable camping in this heat.

Well, that's the excitement for me for the day. Hope everyone has a great one! 😃

Chris - I like a contractor who communicates - especially a contractor who knows how to manage a crew. Happy to see you're moving in a forward direction. I can't imagine camping in that sweltering heat - nice the lodge has A/C. Time for my seamstress responsibilities.
