Egg Salad Sandwich- sounds good! Two high school buddies and I went up to Higgins Lake to meet with one's Dad at his trailer out in the woods. We had 3 quads and rode all around the area- it was great- off course dusty. His Dad is 89 and just lost his wife and other son. He is so great to talk to as he lived being a teen in our little home town in the middle 50's. We spent one night there and slept in my other buddies' 5th wheel trailer. It's really cool, the trailer is on state property and rules are any Mi citizen can stay on the land for a period- I think 2 weeks. But Buddies Dad has had his there for 10 years or so. He mows it and keeps it nice. DNR officer knows he is there and technically in violation but he looks the other way as is really is a Win Win. The old man goes out there almost everyday and chills out, etc. Boy it was hot yesterday!!

Gregg - Sounds like a very fun couple of days! You're lucky to have some highschool buddies close by you can still hang with once in awhile. Mine have always been so far away which sucks.
The siding has been completed and they did a great job, we are very pleased.
All new siding and 2 new windows on the left section. All new siding on this section. All new siding in the porch area. Mixture of old and new in the above section. I can't really see any mismatch from ground level.
Just gutters and downspouts on all sides left to go. I'll be really glad when it's all wrapped up! 😃
We were hit w/ hurricane Florence (Sept. 2018) then hurricane Dorian (Sept. 2019). Not several or a handful but many waited three years for roof repairs. I couldn't imagine.

Yes, it could always be worse, much, much worse, like what just happened in Texas kind of worse! I really wasn't intending to sound like I was bitching about the the length of time it has been, as I was commenting it is hard for me to believe it's been almost 5-months ago that the storm hit us. Where in the hell does time go???
Norm - Looking at the image on CO on my end of the larger window on the left, I'm seeing nothing, zoomed in as far as I can. I can assure you there is nothing there having looked very closely at that area with the naked eye. It must be some kind of image artifact being created by CO?
Left by 430 this morning and had an uneventful ride up to Ohio. Met up with some friends right away and have been out on the lake a couple times already. Saw lots of people I only see once a year, sometimes less. Now I'm ready to hit the sack.
Chris the siding looks nice. Norm there are no gators in this lake. Dan it was a fly speck.
Now it's raining. Hope it clears up. Gonna hit the sack. Have a good night everyone.
Boy did I sleep good. Didn't get up until 10. Half the day is gone! The activity for the day is going to the old folks home and giving rides to the residents. Nice place on the lake, the employees help get the people into the cars and they go out for a few minutes. The place fixes lunch for us, it's very nice.
After that I don't know. Tonight we make our own parade through town with a police escort and then splash into the lake at the "Hot Hole." I don't know why it's called that, one reason could be that the water is heated in the winter so boats don't freeze in the water. The other is there's a very narrow, low overpass for the street that boats, and cars, go through to get out onto the lake. It has a rather steep ramp and people think it's hilarious to go into the water fast, soaking the passengers in the car. I don't go in this particular parade.
Okay gonna head over to the old folks home. It rained a ton last night but it's nice out now. Hope everyone has a good day.
Mike - Glad you slept well and are having a good time! 👍 The gesture from the club/group to visit the retirement home and give the residents rides is really nice. I went to a cruise-in at a retirement home last summer and the residents really appreciated getting to see the cars. Have a great rest of your trip!
Just got in from mowing/trimming. Started around 0930. Right now it's 92°, with a Heat Index of 103°. I'm soaked and whooped. Getting some ice water and trying to get my body temp down before a shower, which is going to feel really good!
Hope everyone is having a great day! 😃
Update - Actual temp now up to 97° at 1:45pm, with a Heat Index of 113°!

Norm - Your Reuben looks delicious. I love them, but haven't had one in a long time.
Dawn's off painting, so I had to figure out something for dinner. I went to a local Grocery/Deli and bought some of their cold Deep Fried Chicken (Pic, minus the pieces I took for me and one piece for the dogs). I also bought some dinner rolls, and some of their deli Cole Slaw for Dawn, and Deviled Egg Macoroni Salad for me. The Macoroni Salad tastes just like Deviled Eggs, delicious. Dawn will now have something decent to eat when she gets home.

Long day. We did indeed go to the home and give rides. It rained off and on all afternoon with periods of downpours. So we all sat around and talked, looked at cars between rain storms, and after dinner had the parade to the hot hole. I stayed back. This evening after dark there were fireworks over the lake. Then we stood around talking and I just got back to the room.
Tomorrow is the car show downtown, a tech session, swap meet, and then the big dinner and Sunday everyone goes home. But now, bed. I'm beat. Good night everyone.
Did a better job of getting up this morning, 730, and even made it to breakfast. Sun is out so maybe no rain.
Norm the Amphicar is indeed positive ground. I've heard that was chosen because it won't short out as quickly if the electrics get wet. Some people do convert to negative "earth" because they want to run add-ons, like a fancy radio, fish/depth finder, etc. I've never heard any problems with switching things, other than the clock runs backwards and the gas gauge doesn't work. My car when put back together will remain positive earth.
Today is the swap meet and also I believe "Bobbing for Booze." In this game little bottles of alcohol are thrown about in the lake and you get in your car with a little butterfly net and drive around trying to retrieve the bottles. There is no winner; the point is just getting as many bottles as you can. It started with a couple who owned a liquor store, and brought a bunch of these little bottles for the game. They have little foam rings around them so they don't sink.
Okay time to get going. Hope everyone has a good day.
Mike - Hope you have better weather today for more time on the water, and enjoy your dinner tonight.
No big plans for today, although I may go to a cruise-in at Raising Canes in Arnold this evening. I'd go for sure if it just wasn't so damn hot outside. This unbearable heat dome we're under is not suppossed to move out until this coming Wednesday.
Dawn's taking a break from the painting today, it's nice to have her home! Going to see if she wants to get out for an ice cream or go out to eat someplace later? I have a suspicion she's just going to want to sit on the couch and do nothing for a change because she's been hitting the painting so hard.
I've been alternating between cleaning (vacuuming/washing) base moldings/shoe moldings & trimming/edging/mowing activities the past two weeks. I removed all carpeting & refinished the 3.5" center cut yellow pine flooring ~20 yrs ago replaced all other areas (kitchen/office/bath) w/ ceramic/marble tile. Flooring in the entire house will get a full wet mop then dry mop shortly - labor of love. Found two families of illegal immigrants living behind the davenport, midgets under the davenport & lizards (chameleons) under the leather seat cushions.

And I thought all of the recent ICE activity was suppossed to get rid of all those types of issues!
Went to a car show/cruise that was back after a one year hiatus. What I did not like was the requirement of proof of insurance, car registration, plate number and drivers license. Not needed. Period. Won't go back.

Dan - That's just crazy, I've never heard of such a thing! Gotta make ya wonder what the motive is behind requiring all that crap? I won't even give out my email when registering at a Show, let alone all of that sensitive PII. I would have just driven away!
I would have, but my buddy and a few other cars were behind me in line, and a VW van and a '60T-Bird were in front of me, and the two in front weren't moving. If I hadn't already talked my buddy into it (his first time there), I would have waited for the cars in front of me to clear out and then left. The people running the registration table claimed that the police required it. B.S.
