That's one thing I would'nt find attractive in buying a new refrigerator, an ice maker/water dispenser. The fridge in my house has the ice and water and the line in the back leaked. I found that out because it soaked through the floor and was dripping on the floor in the basement. I thought I was getting water in when it rained, except I'd see water on the floor when it didn't rain. I turned the water off to the fridge and cut the line off flush with the back. I'm happy to fill ice cube trays and fill a pitcher of filtered water to keep in the fridge.

Today is Tiger's birthday. Actually I'm sure it was up to a couple weeks ago, but I got him on this day and they told me he had just turned 1. So it's his birthday with me. He's 10. I almost named him Abraham.

We had a nice long break because something broke. Now everyone is back at it. Though I am over 30 so it's still a good morning.

Mike - I was 'thinking' of heading down that line of reasoning - disconnect the water/ice maker, but I use a fair amount of ice during the summer in particular. It still may be an option, we'll see what the appliance man comes up with.

Well, I went back on top of the roof, the Macaques failed to install two ridge vents. Ugh...just minor annoyances and it's because they move too fast. So, the PM just stopped by. Supposedly, they'll have it corrected, today (supposedly). No worries.

Mike - I am leaving tomorrow morning fairly early, and leaving to come back Monday sometime after their game is over Monday morning. Thanks for the well wishes on the trip!

Good luck getting a look at the Valiant in Memphis. There is someone on CO that lives in a suburb of Memphis and I'm racking my brain to remember who it is??? If it comes to me I'll let you know.

Chris - For gawd sake man, you need one pair of underwear & one pair of socks (maybe). How tough can that be to pack?

Norm - Just the joys of home ownership right? Good luck with the fridge and the roof vents. If it isn't one thing it's another?

Mike - Happy B-day to Tiger, I hope you both have a great day! 😃

There are 146 entries, posts, &/or threads w/ the term Memphis when I performed a basic Search. That's as far as I'm going to go. Maybe you'll recognize one of the threads/posts?

Chris - Exactly. Quite often less is better (as well). Annoying $hit.

Two goons (Macaques) have arrived to address the ridge vent(s) issue. Of course, they can't speak a word of English. Re-contacted the PM to make it clear I'm diligently checking their work. Annoyances...but we'll get it right.

Alright Mr. Smarty Pants, remind me never to stand too close to you if you've been on the road for more than 2-days! 🤭 😆 🤣 I'm packed, nothing in the car yet, that'll take 5-minutes.

Two Macaques arrived & installed the two ridge vents they forgot - done. One guy remains finishing the chimney flashing.

Appliance man stopped by. Issue was lots of frozen ice at bottom of freezer compartment. An area I seldom make use of because I had this mound of frozen ice portable (fluid) bags down there - the type you'd use to put in a cooler, lots of ice build-up. Simple fix. Removed everything, trays, cages, etc., removed all ice, drain opening frozen shut. Took very hot water in a kettle w/ a snout, ran hot water down back of freezer compartment which opened the drain opening. All done - $150.00 Monday well spent, IMO because I most likely would never have thought where to begin most likely.

I don't think that's possible Norm? USA vs Latvia started at 2:10 CST today! I agree the goal tender interference was very questionable. Don't think it would ever be called in that situation in the NHL.

IMO, goalie was not encumbered and as I recall he was outside the crease. How does that make goalie interference?

I agree, hard hitting, and Latvia is playing them much tougher than I thought but the USA is starting to assert their dominance. The goal just a second ago was a passing masterpiece!

It is amazing how thoroughly a fridge, a freezer, and an A/C evaporator can ice up.

They showed the replay several times in slow motion and he was definitely in the paint, and was not attempting to leave when the puck went in the net. It was close, but the analyst called it before the official call was made.

John - Amazing is how an aircraft carburetor can develop ice on a clear 70F degree day with an average engine temperature of 300F degrees. I had to think about that awhile when I got my pilot certificate.

Norm- what is a Macaque? Chris- best wishes for a pleasant trip to Holland for you and Dawn, and good luck on the game- games? Linda is a nervous wreck about making sure we have proper visas, medications, passports and 3 copies ( one on person, one with emergency contact at home) on and on. She has done a great job. Like anything else, overseas traveling is probably no sweat after being done repeatedly, but 1st time is nerve wracking... Back to being cold today-( oh yeah above freezing yesterday and sunny) - this morn- barely above zero.

Greg - Strictly as a suggestion, I'd advise you to evaluate your current health care insurance coverage while traveling abroad as some (e.g. Medicare, etc.) have strict limits (or no coverage) outside the U.S.A. - you have to read the fine print. There are short-term health care insurance policies available for purchase. Just bringing it up so as to establish expectations for what is, what is not, & what might be covered.

Jim - My very limited understanding regarding kidney disease &/or renal failure (<15% clearance) most often involves kidney fibrosis (scarring of kidney connective tissue) I think, correct? Academically, I've taken advanced courses in evaluating potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium & phosphorous ion channels in/out of cells w/ regard to up regulation & down regulation of these ions, so I'm familiar w/ regulation of these ions & their importance in various/numerous cellular functions. Where I'm going w/ this is it makes the most sense to reduce or eliminate the cause of scarring of the kidney connective tissue itself. Further, it's my understanding the Number One culprit of a continual increase in kidney fibrosis is a dietary overabundance of both red meat & processed foods; therefore, it seems highly likely a diet rich in fruits/vegetables (void of red meat) is likely to provide the greatest benefit in eliminating kidney fibrosis (scarring) & helping to ensure any benefits to stop kidney fibrosis which might be gained via lifestyle changes in diet alone. IMO, the term "ersatz" is a seriously misleading & contemptuous misnomer medical dietary practitioners have elected/decided to add to their repertoire of (incorrect) medical jargon. An ersatz diet should not be a substitute diet for anything. Increasing dietary intake of both fruits & vegetables should not be considered a substitute. Bottom line (IMO), increasing the amounts of fruits & vegetables over red meat & processed foods is most likely the 'key' to reducing kidney fibrosis. I just think they use the term "ersatz" incorrectly. OK, off my soapbox.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. This is an interesting article (2024)...sorta/kinda more easy to follow than the originally published peer-reviewed article in the journal Science.

Hi everyone.

We're done for the day. We ran out of wheels and get to sit an hour and a half. Eh, when I reach the end of the internet I'll take a nap.

Chris must be almost to his destination by now. Hope he doesn't have bad weather to contend with.

Norm the shrimp looks scrumptious. When I was little my dad would take us to the Moline airport and the restaurant had shrimp cocktail. It was little shrimps fashioned in a ring around a metal bowl, and the bowl had shrimp sauce in it and you got a little fork and you speared the shrimp and dipped them in the red sauce. Boy what a treat. When the new airport was built they knocked down the old one and the restaurant became just another coffee shop looking thing, without shrimp cocktail.

Jamesbo did anyone ever suggest you take Jardiance for your kidneys? I take it for blood sugar but it's also for kidneys. I guess I'll never have kidney trouble.

And that's why airplane carburetors are upside down. You get carb icing, you turn on carb heat, the ice melts and falls under the airplane instead of getting sucked into the engine. Airplane engines don't like to run on water.

My Memphis Valiant is probably a bust. The guy lowered the price from 5000 to 3500. If it's as nice as it looks that's a smoking deal. I emailed him and he said a couple people were supposed to come look at it today(that's a standard answer) but he'd let me know. If he doesn't sell it I'm gonna hop a plane to MEM with some Franklins.

Gonna be nice this weekend, so I plan on lots of things outside. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Mike - I'd have to say my original dealings w/ shrimps was same - shrimp cocktails. I thought damn how cool is this. I loved them then & love an ice-cold shrimp cocktail to this day. I'm hoping your Memphis Valiant is not a bust but instead a sleeper waiting to be awoken. Good Luck.
