The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Chris - I was unaware, thanks for mentioning. Like so many musicians/performers/artists drugs became a habit for Chuck until after a very long time finally able to free himself of his addictions. I've seenThree Dog Night perform on several occasions to this day I always enjoy listening to their music.

Norm - Unfortunately that's one group I never had the good fortune of seeing live, sure wish I had! I consider you very lucky to see them multiple times. I haven't read it, but I know Chuck wrote an autobiography of his life that chronicled his struggles with substance abuse. I should probably try to find a copy it and read it. Based on my knowledge Chuck was the lead vocalist on.the majority of their biggest hits, and I love all of them, so I guess it's a little odd that my favorite song of theirs is their cover of "Try a Little Tenderness" that's sung by Corey Wells?
Awesome! I believe '69 was the year they outsold the Beatles! I was only 10 then, before my concert going years.
"From 1969-1974, nobody had more Billboard Top 10 hits, moved more records, or sold more concert tickets than Three Dog Night. During this period, they were undoubtedly the most popular band in America, with 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, 18 straight Top 20s, 11 Top 10s, 3 U.S. number ones, 7 million-selling singles and 12 straight Gold LPs. By late 1975 they had sold nearly 50 million records. The band was unique for it's time, featuring three separate lead singers, Danny Hutton, Chuck Negron and Cory Wells".

Chris - No big deal. Three Dog Night sold an a$$load of records & had significant concert sales from a demanding touring schedule. Without looking up other bands I suspect The Who, CCR, Fleetwood Mac & several others might also be in the running for 1969. I saw so many concerts that year it was insane.

EDIT: Never saw the Beatles. Finally saw the Rolling Stones (Steel Wheels tour) in 1988.
Speaking of Olympic hockey, I need to research the Olympic hockey schedule and TV coverage, both live and on-demand.
Have you taken a glance at the U.S. and Canadian rosters? The U.S. roster is certainly filled with a bunch of great players, but the Canadian roster looks like a "who's who" of future Hall of Famer's, a real juggernaut in my opinion. I'm going to have to look at the current odds???
Here are the current odds via Fan Duel Sportsbook:
2026 Men's Olympic Hockey Gold Medal Odds to Win Gold (Approximate)
Canada: +120
USA: +175 to +210
I was thinking the difference would be more than that? The U.S. Women's team is favored over Canada.

Good morning everyone.
Been sitting since 5, no wheels. We started with a few, stragglers from yesterday, but then nothing. I hear we have a few wheels in the back but no one to work on them; they've all scattered and are screwing off. So who knows when we'll see them up here.
I'm leaving early today so I can meet a guy at my house. He's taking pictures of my pickup to send to an insurance adjuster. Whoa, something happening already? It's only been a year.
Jamesbo I feel the same way about deep-fried. I tell people I'd eat a rock if it were deep fried. I hope no one ever calls me on it.
I finally arranged shipping for the car I bought in Arizona. The guy has had my check for two weeks. I asked my CU about it and she said his bank had the money the day after he deposited the check(cashier's check) but apparently put a 10 day hold on it, but then told him they couldn't verify the funds. Well we're cutting it a little close here because I'm leaving the 23rd for Australia for a week and a half and I'd sure hate to cancel or modify my trip because of waiting on a car. I'm not getting excited yet.
Gonna be sunny all weekend but not terribly high temps. Gonna hit 70 next week. Rain must be gonna follow. Maybe I can get some stuff done outside this weekend. I got a meeting tomorrow morning but it (hopefully) won't last too long.
Think I'll go to lunch a little early. Like an hour. And it's Friday! Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Mike - I enjoy how you story line descriptions of what's happening in the Wheel Shop...
LMAO
It hurts my head to read of the fiasco w/ funds verification. Hopefully, no more hiccups.

Mike - Sounds like a real "Cluster" going on at your shop.
Hope the funds situation with your car purchase gets sorted out sooner than later, the car gets shipped, and your Australia trip is not impacted! 🤞

Hi guys,
Lots going on again here the last couple of days. My sister is back in the medical hospital again because she hasn't been taking care of herself at home like she should, and I suspect there are some mental issues going on again too. She is having an endoscopy performed this afternoon to try and determine if there is anything impeding her ability to eat/swallow because she is claiming she can't swallow without choking. She is severely malnourished again. Just trying to stay abreast of what's going on and helping the best I can from 500 miles away. The thing that's the most frustrating is she doesn't seem to have the desire or will to take care of herself anymore, and you can't really help someone who doesn't want to help themselves!
Gabe will have his last regular season game in the late afternoon tomorrow that I'm going to. Dawn is having a sleepover tomorrow night with our granddaughters on her side. That means no one will sleep well here because the dogs are always uneasy when she's gone overnight, so I'm not real excited about that.
Hope everyone has had a good week and has a great weekend! 😃

Sorry Norm, I can see why that would be confusing. Dawn is spending the night over at the girls house. We can't have them over here because Monty is such a social mess (crazy really) whenever anyone comes over, trying to hump anyone that comes in the door even though he was neutered at a young age. I could have broke him of that with a firm hand when he was young but I wasn't allowed to, and now the situation is what it is. So, if Dawn wants to enjoy her time with the girls it has to be at their place.
So I left work early to meet this fellow who was going to look at my pickup. He was going to be here between 3 and 5. Got a call from him, are we still on? I'll be there at 345. He showed up at 530. Eh, at least he showed. He took tons of pictures and split. I didn't need to leave work early.
Got the shipper all figured out this morning at work. He's going to pick the car up by 9 tomorrow evening and says it will be at my house two days later. Boy that's moving. The seller is going to FedEx the title and bill of sale to me.
Going to a meeting at my airport tomorrow morning. Bi annual meeting of the LLC. It's kind of like a homeowners association, except the members are the owners of the airport and there are no bylaws. We pay dues at the August meeting. Nothing earth shattering just voting on a couple elections and hearing the financial report and whatever else happens to be important.
Well I'm beat so I'm going to bed in a few minutes. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Mike - Glad the truck pictures got taken, and you have the car transport scheduled! 👍 I hope the airport meeting goes well tomorrow, and that you have a great rest of your weekend.
I've been talking with my Mopar buddy the last couple of days, we had kind of got sidelined communicating the last 3 or 4-weeks when Dawn and I were sick, and come to find out his wife had broken her leg, He's been going gang busters on the 4-door Dart ('71???) he"s been restoring for his Daughter and he told me it's about 98% done now. He said the biggest thing left to do is to get ahold of a tire shop to do a front end alignment on it. I'll try to get him to take some pics for me so I can post them for you. Have a great weekend!

--Getting ready for our big trip to Africa... I have been sort of dreading it. Oh I'm sure it will be amazing, but I sure will be glad when it is over... It will be for 23 days- Feb 18 to March 12. Detroit to Katar, to Serengeti for 4 day safari, then a flight to the Nile, going down that to see sphincter- YUK Yuk- and pyramids, Then a cruise on the Mediterranean, then back to Detroit. I can't believe I ok'd it all, ended up costing about 35 grand! Linda figured it out and it just got bigger and bigger, been in the works for about a year.
-- Frank has been feeling good but not doing any chemo now. I don't probe or prod into it- he has said many times-" lets's have a good time now and not talk about it" I understand. My neighbor- Don- who was gonna watch our house when we are gone, Has a rapidly growing cancer in his neck- lymph nodes?? He was over at our house a little after Christmas and showed us a lump in his neck. Well now it has grown and he was to start chemo and radiation last week, but it got delayed. So the pain got unbearable and him and his wife went down to U of M Hospital emergency room and got him admitted. Really worried about him.. Oh boy.... Both Frank and Don worked until they could retire then 1-3 years later get cancer.. Sucks!!

I'm very sorry about your buddies and their cancers! There are no guarantees on longevity, I certainly learned that lesson the hard way with my Dad and Brother, it sucks! ☹
Dan - How you feeling? This is your 2nd SARS-CoV-2 infection I think you said. Hope you're progressing well.
Jim - Safe travels to the lake.
Greg - So happy for you taking the trip. You're going to have an awesome time.
Yesterday morning, before I even awoke, they dropped off x3 pallets & one long box (likely drip-edge) of roofing materials. Start date remains same - this coming Monday, 9 February. Extreme (they call it) cold weather tonight - wind-chill about 5°F tomorrow morning 7am very gradually warming throughout the day. Tuesday should be back into the mid-50s. Well, they likely won't be hampered much tomorrow since it will be tear-off day.

OK Norm, now I'm confused. In one sentence you state the start date as Monday the 9th, but in your last sentence you state they will be starting the tear-off tomorrow the 8th? In any case, I hope they don't start putting the new roof on for you until it's much warmer. We're supposed to have a couple of days in the low 60's the middle of this coming week.
Norm - Here's a link to the schedule for both Men's and Women's Olympic Hockey. All times are EST. The games can be seen on Peacock, and I believe you can live stream them on the NBC Olympic website if you install the NBC App??? I'm not sure yet how to watch the games after they're over via some kind of "On-Demand" functionality?

In times past I've basically watched every winter Olympic event. Watching that Netflix movie "Miracle: The Boys of 80" placed me right back in time. Not only watching a USA Amateur team beat the Russian pro players, then to beat Finland, I was captivated w/ Eric Heiden - c'mon FIVE GOLD MEDALS!!!

Gabe has a hockey game today at 4:20pm. It's an hour's drive and there is alot of major construction on 2 of the 3 major highways I have to take to get there, so I'm not looking forward to the drive. I'll probably leave out about 2:45 just to give myself a good cushion in case there are any back-ups/slowdowns.
Norm - I had meant to comment on Lindsey and forgot. Everyone's saying it's a completely ruptured (100%) ACL. Honestly, I don't know how she's even doing it, she must have one hell of a brace on it, I can't even imagine? I guess if I had to speculate, she's looking at it like this is her last rodeo, and she's already worked so hard to get back to this level, so why not give it a shot if she can manage the pain? Just incredible to me that she's even going to give it a shot!
Well, I signed up for Peacock Premium (w/ ads) so I can stream all the Olympic events. It's streaming via my PC next to validate I can view it on my Firestick T.V. Likely the normal cadence of hoops & hurdles to validate account, enter code, etc.
