When I got home from viewing Gabe's hockey videos with my buddy across the street, Dawn had a big pot of Chili going! I love Peanut Butter sandwiches with Chili. Her Chili was Primo! 👍
Chris - That looks like hearty chili. I get the point about the PB&J, also Enjoy.
Thanks Norm, I'll pass on the compliment to Dawn. It is a very hearty Chili with a very heavy concentration of browned ground beef. Just a clarification on what I posted. Even though I love and enjoy PB&J's often, with Chili I prefer just the PB only. How did your soup turn out? Did it meet your expectations?
Chris - Soup was/is absolutely outstanding. I'm eating my second bowl as I write this. That old broad I gave a container to this morning was ecstatic about receiving it, as well. I'm dead sure she'll love it.

EDIT: And, I don't mean the skinny/tiny sharp cheddar, I'm talking those big fat grated slices.
Glad the soup turned out great, I really had no doubts!
Sometimes I top mine with with sharp cheddar and/or onions, sometimes not. Raw onion sometimes can cause me a little indigestion, and I didn't feel like taking the risk tonight. Now Dawn went a different route with hers. She microwaved a couple smallish potatoes and then split them in half, scooped the Chili on top of them, and then topped with sharp cheddar. Hers looked like a very good combo too!
Fixing to settle in here in a second to watch the Avalanche vs. Senators game. Boy are the Avalanche fun to watch. Their skating is top tier and the team is certainly the class of the NHL right now.

Mom made the absolute best chili because she made her own stewed tomatoes. For me, the key to a great chili is incorporation of stewed tomatoes. Stewed tomatoes which have the skin removed.
We have no work. I've been sitting here for 4 hours. A couple stray wheels came through about an hour ago, but there is nothing. Nothing in the back, nothing in the works, nothing to sign. Probably the bad weather has delayed the trucks bringing the wheels.
Mmm chili. Neither Mom nor I like spicey so she puts very little chili powder in hers. I have Ritz crackers with grape jelly that I put the chili over. Good stuff. Shredded cheese sometimes.
Went to the Dodge place yesterday after work and picked up the two bed rail covers. One was missing from the truck when I bought it and the salesman ordered both sides, so they would match. Good thing because on my way home the other side came off. He started giving me some story about having to schedule an appointment so service could put them on blah blah, and I said how about if I just pick them up and I'll put them on myself. You can do that? I said yes I'm a mechanic I can work on stuff. So that's what I did. I'll put them on this weekend.
Not much else. Supposed to be nice this afternoon and rain tomorrow. I didn't think we were getting rain for awhile but what do I know. Hope everyone has a good day.
I think I saw several snowflakes around here maybe 8 to 9 yrs ago - maybe one inch. Here one day gone the next. I've seen snow here probably four times in 26 years. A couple times it stayed for a couple days before it was gone.
When they announced this Bomb Cyclone earlier this week I paid no attention. Appears it will hit us. Yeah, I just looked it up. We had a Bomb Cyclone in January, 2018. I think that's the last I saw snow around here and it wasn't significant. They're now saying maybe 6" - 8" snow around here over the weekend. That'll be kinda/sorta cool to see.
Mike - Glad you ordered two bed rail covers since the other one came off, eh? Bed rail covers are a simple R&R. The sales person has likely never had a tool in his hand.

Mike - Nice theory on why you have no wheels.
Don't think I've ever heard of eating Chili over Ritz Crackers with Grape Jelly? Where did you pick that up from? Did your Dad eat it that way?
Nice that you got 2 new bed rail covers out of the truck deal! 👍

Norm - That may be kinda cool to see, but I'm sure if you actually get 6" to 8" it will paralyze your area with it not being used to getting that much snow. I'm sure they don't have much snow removal equipment there. I hope you don't get that much and it warms back up quickly if you do! 🤞
Yes that was my dad's way of eating chili. Sounds weird but it's pretty good. Other oddities from him are brown sugar on white rice, and chocolate ice cream on apple pie. Funny Mom made an apple pie some time ago and put a few pieces in the freezer. The other day she pulled one out and said, I have a piece of apple pie but I don't have any chocolate ice cream. We had some chocolate ice cream cones and I dug out a couple for the pie.
Many years ago when I had my boy and my girl we got 3 or 4 inches of snow, and it stuck around a few days. The dogs would put their noses to the ground and run and the snow would come off their noses like a snow plow. It looked pretty funny they loved it.
I have one wheel signed. There are a couple here and there but nothing of any consequence. Maybe when the weather eases up we'll get an influx of wheels and we'll have to work a Saturday to clean them all up.
Mike - I recall you having mentioned Ritz crackers with grape jelly over chili several years ago. It's certainly unique but to each their own. There were several occasions during my early years of drinking alcohol I'd eat semi-sweet chocolate chips & olives after getting tanked. How weird is that?

Mike - No offense intended, but the Chili over the Ritz with Grape Jelly sounds like a really weird one. I'll take you're word for it that it's good! Now I can get on-board anyday for white rice with brown sugar! I'll add a little butter too in with the brown sugar. I love it.
Good story about your prior dogs doing their best snowplow impression. Not this last snow, but the last big snow we had last year, Monty did his best snowplow impression too, he was hilarious to watch!

Norm - Now that's a weird combo, even if you were sauced! You didn't say, were those green olives or black olives? My brother's (God rest his soul) favorite Pizza was Pepperoni and Olives, the kicker was they were Green Olives! Yuk! He's the only person I ever knew that wanted Green Olives on their Pizza!
Mike, Our [family oddities] were chow chow on black eyed peas and strawberry preserves on corn bread dressing [We didn't have cranberries in the south]
NINE eggs Chris? NINE?!! I haven't had spam since I was a teen, every time I eye it in the store, I can't bring myself to buy it. When I was eating chili, I either put grated cheddar cheese on it, or croutons. Had to give it up due to the acid reflux. I still eat white/chicken chili. I need to make some chicken soup, I have a carcass in the freezer that is waiting for me to do something with. We are 35.5" above average for our snowfall so far this season.

Dan - Yep, 9 eggs, not bragging because overeating is nothing to brag about, but I could eat two dozen scrambled eggs at a sitting if that was all I was eating. I don't know if you remember me saying this, but I only eat one meal a day, usually around 3:30 to 4pm, and when I eat, I like to get full. I will usually eat some kind of dessert later in the evening, but I've been trying to cut back on how much sweets I eat later in the evening.
It's funny that you mentioned white chicken chili vs. regular chili. It's the exact opposite for me because Dawn puts alot of spicy Rotel in her white chicken chili and I'm much more likely to get acid reflux/indigestion from that than her regular chili.
I've been looking at the extended forecast for up there and keeping my fingers crossed that there are no major weather events when I head that way in is few weeks.
Edit/Addition - I keep looking for the finalized game schedule for up there and the site keeps telling me "coming soon". I will post it as soon as I see it.

Dan - Do they have luge circuits in Muskegon in the winter months?
Norm - There is a winter recreational park outside of Kalamazoo that has iced Tobaggon runs, a huge inner tubing hill, and an outdoor skating pond named Echo Valley. The iced Tobaggon runs are said to achieve speeds of 60mph. I took my girls there once when they were little and we had a blast!
Norm - I'm watching the Red Wings vs the Capitols. Patrick Cane just scored to become the all time American born Pts. Leader, but Ugh, it was reviewed and the play was determined to be offside. Lots of game left though, only 5-minutes into the 1st.
Well a better start to the workday than yesterday. Steady supply of wheels, though getting anyone to do anything is a different story. I guess they have Friday blues.
23* when I walked out to the car this morning. This was fun but I'm tired of this game. Gonna be more colder over the weekend. Maybe that will negate the rain.
Jamesbo I had to look up chow chow. It sounds like jardinair. No idea how to spell that.
So I need to change the oil in my tractor but have no idea how to find out what engine it is so I can get a filter. I'll probably end up taking the filter out(it's a cartridge that goes inside a can) and measuring it and/or going someplace and matching it up. I haven't done anything to that guy in weeks, that's no fun.
Okay a little bit of work and then break. Hope everyone has a good day.
Mike - Sometimes you can go to the manufacture website (support/parts/etc.) and enter the VIN. The VIN will (most often) demonstrate the oil filter, etc.
Mike - You might recall me posting at some point in the past I've changed oil filters on at least one or several tractors which had the old school oil filter canister made of heavy gauge aluminum (as I recall). One of my uncles sent me into the house from the tractor/implement barn to fetch a roll of toilet paper - used as an oil filter inside the canister (if push comes to shove).
