Jim - I assigned some *** blaster (Sriracha) to the chilly to liven things up. No mustard but I did sprinkle some fresh Parmesan on top.

Norm - Are those a frozen brand of Onion Rings, and if so, what is the brand name? They sure look good, and I've never been able to find a decent frozen Onion RIng.

Best onion rings I've ever found. Very crispy, not loaded down w/ goobers of batter & they have nice fat onion rings inside. Oh yeah - they're good. Eight minutes to bake @ 400°F.

Dan - I thought I commented about your post - I guess I did not (forgot). Agree, ketchup shouldn't even be in the same room as a hot dog. Most often, I'll generally make a hot dog in one of these configurations: (1) Mustard + Sweet Relish; (2) Mustard + Chopped Onion; or, (3) American Cheese (e.g. Velveeta), one slice on top.

Sorry guys, but I like ketchup on my hot dogs. But don't worry, I'm not really from the city, I'm a suburbanite.

Well I'm as pleased as punch. Bought a bed, hitch, doors, and sundry other small parts off two parts trucks a guy had. He owns a body shop and gave me a pretty good deal, provided I give him the first crack at painting everything. I said sure. Also jumped the truck off and brought it over to my house. My neighbor the hot rodder said he'd help me start working on it, so I might get to drive my truck again this decade.

Aside from all that, I got some house cleaning done this morning and some laundry. I don't know how I'll top this tomorrow. Sure I do, we get paid.

The whole day and this evening have just been the perfect temperature. Rain maybe Sunday, then nice again all next week. Can't beat that.

Gonna hit the sack in a minute. Have a good night everyone.

Norm, I usually have chili dogs, with mustard and onions, sometimes with pickle slices. Once in awhile, bacon wrapped. A new place just opened up by me, and one of the choices is a slaw dog. Damn good!

Dan/Jim - I like Southern vinegar-based BBQ sandwiches w/ slaw - delicious. I don't believe I've eaten a hot dog w/ slaw but it sounds good. Jim - I'm happy to accept your offer for a Varsity chilli cheese slaw dog.

Took me forever evaluating porch board layout yesterday after pulling numerous measurements. Pretty sure I did nothing more than convinced myself, yes it isn't square. Again, I have to maneuver around eight (already) standing newel posts which themselves aren't EXACTLY square to the deck surface. I settled in on establishing location of the center board. I'm likely overthinking this. Without the newel posts I could simply start to lay down boards then cut the ends & be done w/ it, but I have essentially no room to navigate a circular saw to cut those ends in a straight line. I'm cutting all boards to length (102.5") & they're turning out spot-on. I'll address layout as I move forward. After cutting ~22 boards (out of 37) I began laying them out from center-line to see where they'd fall relative to the newel posts & running perpendicular (straight) to the house. Happy I laid them out for a visual - they're falling nicely into place. I have a tendency to overthink this stuff sometimes.

The boards in front of the front entrance door need to have their butt ends made thinner (shaved) by 1/4" depth for about the last 1.75" - 2.00" because those board ends I want to run under the front entrance door threshold for a nice stable seal. The door threshold is newer, relative to the old boards, which were (4/4) 3/4" thick. I'm using 5/4 true 1" boards so I'm off by 1/4". Setup a router and plunge bit yesterday so I'll hand plunge those board ends with a router.

Picked up a small pack of shims yesterday. I'm hoping to fasten at least a couple boards today.

Very thankful it's closing in on end of October. September is most likely/frequent month for NC hurricanes. Weather is a tad cool in these early mornings but warms up rapidly by ~10 am. Weather for Sunday is awesome. Should be a nice day for swinging a chainsaw from a boom/lift bucket.

I remember "sallsberry steak" burgers. You guys? I'm talking about the cheap mixed patties of "mystery meat" that you would get at racetrack concession stands and places like that. I'm guessin' oatmeal or sumpthin' mixed in with cheap ground beef cooked on a flat grill on a bun. Anyway I loved those with ketchup and mustard on them- those items were in big plunger squirters that you put on your burgers. Dog &Suds had those type- this was before McDonalds started advertising "100% pure beef ". Anyway that seems like where I started to love the taste of ketchup and mustard on hot dogs, burgers, etc- sweet and sour sort of... So I'll take a plain Hot Dog with those and onions, if available. Now a chili or coney dog? No ketchup- jusr sauce and onions and mustard.. Now I'm gettin hungry...

Good morning everyone.

Another beautiful, if not chilly, day. It's gonna warm up and I plan to work out in the back yard.

I've only eaten at the Varsity one time. I wasn't real impressed. I don't remember what I had but I didn't get any of the fancy things, like an FO or a fruit pie or onion rings. Also the girl was nice when I ordered she didn't yell at me. I was there by myself so maybe if I went with an experienced Varsiteer it would be better.

Greg is that what they called the hamburgers or just what you call them? I love Salisbury steak but gravy on a hamburger would be a little messy.

Norm some years ago I got a huge case of Rahman(sp?) noodles as a gag gift at Christmas. In the case was what looks like a giant coffee cup and on it says I PUT SRIRACHA ON MY SRIRACHA . No idea what that means.

Okay gotta get moving. Can't let yesterday's momentum go to waste. Hope everyone has a great day!

Norm - I had never eaten a BBQ pulled Pork Sandwich with vinegar based slaw on it until I started spending time in the Missouri bootheel. All the BBQ joints down there serve them that way and I absolutely love them, my favorites!

Norm - I read the detailed plan above and it sounds like a good one as usual. Glad it sounds like you'll have decent weather to work on the limb removal and keep moving forward on the porch. We've got rain in the forecast tonight and tomorrow, with some possibly severe thunderstorms tomorrow.

Nice job Norm, you're moving along nicely!

I like cold tuna salad sandwiches and tuna casserole, but never cared much for tuna melts. I'd sure love to have one of those Peanut Caramel Apples though. I'm going to have to find some of those myself. 👍

With all of this talk about food, I'm headed to the fridge to work on the wings that I made last night, tossed with melted butter and honey, salt, pepper, and a good dose of season salt, then baked. Yum.

Dan, those sound delicious! I love wings with a variety of sauces. Probably my favorite sauce is a mustard based hot sauce, with some good Bleu Cheese dressing on the side for dipping! If you think about it, post us a pic of the finished product when they're done!

Good afternoon guys,

"The Best Day" today! Dawn had her annual check-up with the Surgeon who removed a couple of significant areas of pre-cancerous cells a couple years ago. He found zero evidence of anything suspicious looking! Hallelujah!!!

Grandsons' both have hockey games tomorrow, Keegan at 7am and Gabe at 6:30pm, and I'm going to both. There's a Car Show on Sunday at an American Legion within about a half-hour drive. I already have the car packed and I'll see how I'm feeling when I get home from Gabe's game and then decide on whether I'm going to go. Weather could also play a factor.

Hope everyone has a relaxing evening and a great weekend!

It's past tense now Chris. Urp! A pic of my car at the local Tuesday night cruise in at Mr. Quicks. Not my pic. There's a local guy who hits a lot of the area shows and posts the pics on a car events FB page. I'll follow with a pic of my buddy's '05 Mustang that his wife bought for him nine yeras ago for his birthday. It had 17k on it when he got it, now has 22k. He has three cars that he has purchased from the original owners. May be an image of car and text

Dan - Your car looks great. They did an awesome job on the top - just gorgeous. The wings sound delicious. I haven't had wings w/ that style sauce, butter/honey, seasonings, salt, pepper & baked in a very long time but it's an excellent taste & manner of cooking. Enjoy.

Chris - Very good news for Dawn. Happy to hear that type of news. You sure don't let any moss grow under your feet - always on the run. That's a good thing. I'm on my third Peanut Caramel covered Granny Smith Apple.

Thanks Norm, what can I say, she's my world!

I wouldn't have it any other way about running to the grandkids' events, I hate to miss any of them if I don't have to. Not having any boys myself, they're a special treat!

Now you're just teasing me about those damn Caramel Apples! 😉
